Chapter Eight

Chapter Eight:

Funtown had always been a place Tatum enjoyed going to - had being the key word. The moment the dark haired female stepped foot on the field that hosted Funtown she wanted nothing more than to leave and be far far away from the small carnival. It had slipped Tatum's mind over the years just how much of an impact Funtown had on her relationship with her father.ย  The small carnival was always the place that Tatum and Ty spent hours together - it was a place for them to have rare father-daughter time. Tatum had thought Funtown was going to take her mind off of tomorrow but all of the memories were hitting her like a brick to the face and now all she could think about was tomorrow and her father, and seeing him laying in a casket with a peaceful look painted on his face.

"You okay mi amor?" Angel asked as he held onto Tatum's hand, squeezing it with reassurance.

The Mayan biker could tell there was something wrong with his wife, she had been in an upbeat mood when they left Cal's house, a bright smile on her face as she practically jumped up and down in the passenger seat of her mustang as they drove to Funtown. But once they arrived her cheerful mood instantly disappeared. Angel could see the car away look in her eyes as they walked around the carnival, and he couldn't help but feel like coming here hadn't been such a good idea after all.

"Yeah, yeah." Tatum said quickly as she looked at Angel with a smile on her face. "Wanna go in the Ferris Wheel again?" She asked, a laugh leaving her lips as Angel immediately shook his head.

"No fuckin' way I'm gettin' back on that spinning death wheel." Angel stated matter of factly while wrapping his tattooed arms around Tatum's shoulders. "How about we go in that photo booth?" He suggested with a smirk on his face. "We coul-"

"Don't even finish that sentence Reyes." Tatum said while rolling her eyes and shaking her head. "I don't feel like getting arrested for indecent exposure - again." She said, the ghost of a grin playing on her lips as she remembered that night all too clearly in her mind.

A loud laugh left Angel's mouth and a wide smile took over his face at Tatum's words. Angel and Tatum hadn't been together that long when said incident happened. He had showed up to her house late and frustrated after a run and asked if she wanted to go for a ride, it had taken him a few minutes to convince her to go because Tatum being Tatum was slightly pissed off at him for showing up and ruining her peaceful sleep, but eventually the pair found themselves in a small park where one thing lead to another which resulted in handcuffs being slapped on Tatum's wrist and a thousand dollar fine.

"Could of been worse." Angel teased as he pushed the night from his mind. "Fuck." He whispered while rolling his brown eyes as he noticed Jax Teller and a few members of SAMCRO making their way towards him and Tatum.

Tatum immediately knew what that 'fuck' from Angel's mouth was for. She knew some of SAMCRO was going to be there tonight, but naively Tatum hoped there was no chance of her and Angel running into them, but she was proved wrong as she watched Jax walk towards her with a smile on his face.

"Just be nice." Tatum said with a pleading in her voice. "Please." She added as she looked up at Angel, noticing the scowl on his face as his brown eyes watched Jax's every move.

Angel nodded, his eyes still focused on the blonde SAMCRO biker as he wrapped his arms tighter around Tatum's shoulders. It had been three years, but Angel still didn't trust Jax Teller for one second when it came to his wife.

"I'm always nice." Angel smirked as he kissed Tatum's tattooed shoulder.

"Hey darlin'." Jax said with his signature smirk once he reached the couple. "Reyes." He nodded towards the Mayan, his blue eyes meeting Angel's brown ones for a second before he turned his attention back to Tatum.

"Teller." Angel muttered while wishing he could punch the smirk off of his pretty boy face. A sigh left Angel's mouth at the sound of his phone ringing. "Sorry baby." He quickly apologized as he pulled his phone from his pocket. "It's Bish." He said once he saw Bishop's name come across the screen.

Tatum nodded watching Angel quickly answer his phone and walk away from the small group to find a more quiet place to talk to his President.

"Didn't bring the little man tonight?" Tatum questioned as she turned her attention back on to Jax.

"Ma's got him around here somewhere." Jax said with a small laugh. "You go on the Ferris Wheel yet?" He asked knowing better than most that it was Tatum's favorite ride at Funtown. He could remember all the times she use to make him go on it with her - the way her eyes lit up whenever it stopped at the very top, of how she would always cuddle into his side each time they went on it.

"Of course." Tatum scoffed, a smile on her face. "The Ferris wheel is the best thing about Funtown." She stated matter of factly, earning an eye roll and laugh from Jax.

"Nice ink." Happy rasped from beside Jax as his dark eyes looked over the many tattoos that adorned Tatum's body.

"Thanks Hap." Tatum said giving a smile to the SAMCRO enforcer.

Happy - a man of few words simply nodded before saying something in a low tone to Jax and walking off with Tig and Juice, leaving Tatum and Jax standing there with a million questions on the tip of their tongues.

"Jax," Tatum said as she let out a deep breath. She needed to ask him about the manuscript she had found at her father's. It had been on her mind for the last two days, eating away at her thoughts and she needed answers. "I've got to-"

"I gotta go amor." Angel's voice cut off Tatum as he quickly reappeared at her side. "Padrino needs me in Oakland." He spoke in a low tone.

"Okay." Tatum nodded, disappointment filling her body at Angel's words. She finally had Jax alone to question him and now she had to leave. It felt like she was never going to get any answers about her fathers murder by the way things were currently going. "I'll see you later, Jax." Tatum said giving a smile to the blonde VP.

A sigh left Angel's lips as he saw the disappointment on Tatum's face. He hated that he was being called away and making her leave just when it seemed like she was starting to have a good time, but club business had to come first.

"I can take you back to Cal's later." Jax spoke up. He wasn't ready for her to leave just yet. They hadn't spent much time together since Tatum got into town and he understood why, but he was trying to repair their friendship and Jax knew he was doing a fucking terrible job at it. "If you wanted to stay." He added.

"Uh," The dark haired female hummed thoughtfully as she thought over Jax's offer. "I'm not-"

"Stay. Have fun." Angel said as he placed his hands on Tatum's hips. "I love you." He said before placing his lips against Tatum's.

"I love you too." She said smiling against his lips. "Be safe."

"Always am." Angel promised, giving a nod towards Jax before grabbing Tatum's car keys from his pocket and walking off towards his wife's beloved mustang.

"Wanna go ride the Ferris wheel darlin'?" Jax asked as he draped an arm across Tatum's shoulders.

"Always." Tatum nodded with a smile on her face.

_______

Tatum unstrapped the helmet from underneath her chin as Jax pulled to a stop in front of Cal and Ima's house, she pulled the helmet from her head and handed it to Jax with a smile on her face. "Thanks for the ride, Teller." She smiled while running a hand through her messy hair.

Spending most of the night with Jax at Funtown had stirred up a lot of old memories for her. It made her miss the friendship they once shared and it especially made her miss the person Jax use to be. Tatum understood people changed over the years and no one was ever the same - especially with lives like theirs, but Jax had changed so much that she had doubts that he could ever be the same again.

"Of course darlin'." Jax smiled. "Thanks for keepin' me company." Jax couldn't remember the last time he had a night like tonight. It had been so long since he felt so carefree and happy, and he knew it was because of Tatum.

"I'll see you tomorrow." She said softly as the smile abruptly fell from her face. Tomorrow - it was the day she had been trying to block out for days, but no matter what it was always there in the back of her mind.

Jax nodded as his face hardened at Tatum's words. "Get some sleep, T."

Tatum watched as Jax rode off down the empty street before she let out a sigh and made her way towards Cal and Ima's house. She hoped Angel was almost done doing whatever club business he was doing in Oakland, because right now all she wanted was to be wrapped up in her husband's arms.
