5-What Now?
When me and Landon got back to the hotel, I went straight to my bedroom, ignoring Dad's cheery "hey guys wanna join us over here?" and started crying.
In a few moments there was a knock on my door, and I peered over my shoulder, my tears making my eyeliner run.
"Hey sweetie are you okay?" Dad asked walking over and sitting down on my bed next to me. He put a gentle hand on my shoulder, and I leaned into his arms, burying my head in his shoulder. "Baby what's wrong? You and your brother looked upset; what happened?"
I couldn't speak, I was sobbing and sniffling too hard. Plus the addition of the threads keeping me from telling him.
Eventually I finally said, "it's fine. It isn't too big a deal. I'm just being extra emotional. I'm fine I swear."
"Amara, you're obviously not fine, tell me what's wrong."
"That's the thing; I can't!" I pushed him away hugging my pillow and crying.
"Why not? Amara, what are you talking about?" My father sounded worried as he put another hand on my shoulder.
"Just-just GO AWAY!" I shouted through tears, and I instantly regretted it.
Dad just stared at me for a moment, the hurt evident in his eyes. "I'm sorry sweetheart I just . . . I'm worried about you and-"
"You don't need to worry!" I hissed. "I can take care of myself!" I brought out my wings and wrapped them tightly around myself, hugging my pillow again.
"Amara, I . . ." My dad trailed off, before finally speaking again. "This isn't normal for you. I don't know what happened but I'm here, honey, please, tell me what happened. I won't be mad, I promise."
Think of a lie! My brain screamed at me silently. Or something! He'll get suspicious if you try to tell the truth!
UGH STUPID FUCKING DEAL!
Then it came to me.
I could tell him about Vex . . . that might get him off my back.
But fuck, how's he gonna react to that news?
Worth a try . . .
"You promise you won't be mad?" I said, now kinda scared about what I was about to tell him.
"I swear. Please tell me." Dad looked at me worriedly, and I took a deep breath.
Here we go . . .
"I um . . . I'm seeing someone." I said quietly, and my father's eyes widened.
"Oh. Oh wow. Um . . . why exactly is that a reason to cry-? DO THEY TREAT YOU BAD? I SWEAR TO FUCK IF THEY TREAT YOU BAD-"
"No, no Dad. They're great. Amazing actually. Um, I'm upset because, well . . . you aren't exactly the biggest fan of their parents . . ." I said.
"What do you mean?" Dad asks, then his eyes widened. "Wait-don't tell me-"
"Yeah, um, I'm kinda dating Vexton Vortex . . ." I said.
"Oh fu-"
"You promised you wouldn't be mad!"
"I'm sorry I just-VOX AND VALENTINO'S KID?"
"Dad please-"
"Amara I don't want you around those two!"
"Dad! Vexton isn't as bad as their dads! They're sweet, and kind-hearted, please, please understand-"
"Honey, honey," he cupped my face in his hands. "Listen, I'm sure Vexton is a good soul, if you say they are, then I believe you. It's their fathers I'm worried about. You know the things they've done, Amara. You know how sick they both are. I don't want you around that."
"I understand, Dad, they don't know about us either . . . you're honestly the first person to find out. Not even Landon knows." I said.
He sighed. "I'm just . . . worried about you, is all. How about we tell your father tomorrow? Then maybe we could meet Vexton sometime? I'd like that sweetheart. A-and I'm sure Lola would like to meet her neice-what'd you think?"
I nodded slowly. He was being surprisingly calm about this whole thing . . . it wasn't at all what I'd expected.
"Alright." I said.
Dad kissed my forehead. "Thank you for telling me Amara. I love you, you know that. I'd fucking kill for you, m'kay? Goodnight. And it's okay, everything's okay." He hugged me. Fuck, now I really wish I could tell him the real reason I'd been so upset . . .
"Night Dad. I love you too." I said, and he gave me a smile, before standing up and leaving.
God-fucking-dammit.
