CHAPTER ONE
'tilly'

Fairies are a complex species, millions of little girls across the globe have grown up with stories of fairy godmothers and such, yet very little information is truly known about them.

To the supernatural community they are myths, legends supposedly responsible for the turning of the seasons and the preservation of nature. To humans they are bedtime stories, sweet little creatures with wings and wands who are thought of as simple works of fiction.

The only people who truly understand the complexity with which fairy colonies operate is well.. fairies.

Their system is an intricate balance, one that is said to have been designed by Mother Nature herself. Each fairy has a role which they are expected to stick to, a fairy straying from their assigned role could have detrimental effects on the outside world.

These roles are decided in the annual choosing ceremony, where all of the unmarked fairies gather in preparation for the Queen to decide their fate. Choosing ceremonies are sacred and are performed with a practised perfection, ensuring that nothing ever goes wrong.

Well, until Tilly came along that is.

See usually, it's obvious what talent a fairy possesses, and in turn what role would suit them best. In the same way that a flower is drawn to the sun, a fairy is drawn to their true calling.

Tilly on the other hand was not so simple, none of the roles worked for her. And that's not to say she didn't try, because she did! She worked with countless groups over the years, ranging from garden fairies to fire fairies, desperate to find her talent. Hell she even tried to help the dark fairies guide dead spirits through the other side.

Needless to say, nothing worked. She was useless, talentless. If she wasn't sure of it before, she was now. Now that she had been banished, the weight of her acorn backpack almost as heavy as the weight of her heart. Queen Cecile had no use for talentless fairies, they disrupted the peace and that would simply not do. As such, the moment Tilly had turned eighteen, at her birthday party in fact, the air department had shown up to assist her in packing her bags before creating a powerful tornado to blast her as far away as possible.

Which led her to where she was now, plummeting through the air towards some odd, moving contraption at a dangerous pace.

"Holy daisies, I'm gonna die." She thought aloud, a contemplative look present on her face

"Holy daisies, I'm gonna die!" It was a scream this time, the panic having officially set in. Her hair blew around her, occasionally covering her eyes and obscuring her vision, whilst her wings frantically flapped in a desperate attempt to soften the fall. She had always pictured herself dying in a more heroic way, but no, she was going to snap her neck on some random human road.

And Tilly loved her neck!

Damn those air fairies, damn them. She always knew they had something against her, the windy little freaks.

The ground was rapidly approaching, appearing closer and closer by the second. Bringing her hands up to her face, Tilly prepared herself for impact, praying to every god she knew. In the next moment, a searing pain was spreading across her body. It felt like her limbs were on fire, and she was sure one or two bones must be broken. The fairies' wings had done little to break her fall, she had landed on the roof of the vehicle she saw earlier before rolling onto the gravel road.

Groaning, she could distantly make out the sound of a door being slammed open over the constant buzzing she was now experiencing in her ear. Weakly lifting her head up, she surmised that her eyesight wasn't much better, everything around her looked blurry and if she didn't know any better, she would think that the world was swaying slightly.

Next thing she knew, her head was on someone's lap and a hand was lightly slapping her cheek. She knew that the mystery person was most likely saying something, but she couldn't for the life of her figure out what. Squinting her eyes slightly, she noticed something odd about the persons appearance.

"Dude, you like totally have three heads. You should get that checked out." She muttered before succumbing to the darkness that had been dancing across her vision, everything turning black.

A/N: So, any guesses as to who this mystery man is?
