Xishi, perched on a slightly lumpy rock that vaguely resembled a throne (at least in her mind), surveyed her motley crew: XueLing, ever the pragmatist; HaoYue, with his perpetually inquisitive gaze; and FengXiu, who could make a serious face even while juggling rocks. The topic of the day? Their increasingly cramped cave. "Alright, you lot," Xishi began, her voice laced with a dramatic flair that bordered on theatrical. "We need a bigger place..... as you know, for all of us to live comfortably..... "
XueLing, ever the voice of reason (and mild exasperation), nodded slowly. "Yes, my life, you're right. We really need to talk about this." He said.
Which was more like a dent in the rock face. They all settled down, legs tangled, in a less-than-comfortable attempt at a serious discussion. HaoYue and FengXiu, seemingly incapable of sitting still, followed suit, their eyes darting around like squirrels at a picnic.
"So," Xishi continued, "can we just, you know, expand this thing? Like, knock down a wall or two?"
XueLing sighed, the sound a mixture of weariness and resignation. "Unfortunately, no. The top of the Rock Mountain is technically Feather Tribe territory that is all occupied.....If we want a bigger space, we're going to have to look elsewhere. Somewhere… not too far, obviously. I don't fancy a major relocation." he paused, a thoughtful frown furrowing his brow. "It's all rather inconvenient, isn't it?" he added with a heavy dose of understatement.
HaoYue, tilted his head towards Xishi. "Would it be so terrible to live a little farther away? Just a little?"
Xishi leaned forward, a mischievous glint in her eye. "Honestly? I wouldn't mind. This rock mountain isn't exactly my type for the long run. I never intended for this to be my forever home. But on the other hand, moving is such a hassle and who knows what we would find? I'm not in a hurry to leave just yet, but if we have to we have to, I suppose. Ugh." Xishi paused, dramatically placing the back of her hand on her forehead. She didn't want to leave but she didn't want to deal with drama either.
She made a fair point, honestly. Staying here was far simpler, but the idea of the constant petty squabbles made her cringe.
FengXiu, ever the practical one, finally spoke up. "So, are we going to go look for places down the mountain then? Or are we going to sit here and contemplate the existential dread of a cramped dwelling?"
XueLing, clearly wanting this whole ordeal over with, agreed immediately. "Yes, let's do that. We're wasting time here trying to figure out how to expand a rock." His voice dripping with excitement. "Let's look around the for our new luxurious cave fit for royalty, shall we?"
