❝ everybody knows that i'm
a good girl, officer.❞

𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮. He was blonde, gorgeous, and repeatedly glanced between yourself and the file before him.

You felt your lips curl into a slight smirk as he gulped slightly, before dropping it and furrowing your brows with a girlish pout of your lips. "Officer, can I ask why I'm here again?" you wondered.

"Uh, it's Detective Murphy, ma'am," he corrected softly with a clearing of his throat.

"Ah, I see. My apologies, Detective Murphy." The words rolled off your tongue with ease, and Steve found himself faltering slightly under your sweet gaze before shaking his head.

"Um, Miss Delgado, is it?" You hummed with a nod, confirming his question. "Miss Delgado, you are here for questioning."

"Wh- Why me?" you asked with a quiver of your lip.

"Because you are the only source we have right now. You were there when the fire started," he answered.

"I see."

"Now, Miss Delgado, three of your friends were shot and murdered last night, before a fire consumed your shared house."

"Thank you for the reminder, sir," you muttered, glancing away.

Steve pursed his lips before continuing, "Now, we've discovered that two of them have had major connections with a certain drug lord. Would you know of this man's name?"

"Drug lord?" you repeated. "No, no. My friends were- they were innocent. We went out to the movies on Friday's. We went to the pet shelter on the weekends because we could. There is no way they were connected to some drug lord."

"But, ma'am, the stats-."

"Steve," you said, after looking up at him from his nametag. Leaning forward, you crossed your hands, before lifting your head. He inclined backwards slightly, but kept his gaze on your lips for a moment, before looking up at your doe-like eyes, blinking rapidly. "Look at me. I've lost three of my best friends to what you think is a fire set by some unknown drug lord. I was just on a stupid little date with a guy, and when he dropped me home, it was... completely burnt down. And now you're asking me to regail the tragic events that led up to their demise, obviously questioning me for any motives?"

"Miss, no, we're just-."

"And I understand it's your job, but I'm hurting right now, that's all," you sniffed, looking down to swipe a finger under your eye as you felt tears fall down your cheeks.

Steve was panicking. Sure, many suspects had cried, but you just looked so pretty doing it. Standing up, he bent down beside you and took your hands in his, causing your attention to him. "Look, Miss Delgado, I understand you're not in best place right now, and you're obviously very distraught. So, maybe we could, I don't know, rescedhule? How about in a few days time? How does Wednesay work for you?"

You smiled, nodding softly, making the man grin in return. "That would be perfect. Thank you so much, Steve."

"Getting cushy with the suspect, I see."

You snapped your gaze up, finding a man leaning against the doorframe as he bit into a bright green apple. His eyes were sharp as they switched between you and the man in front of you. Steve nervously glanced at you, before standing up, offering him a smile. "Hey, Javier. I was just, uh, questioning her. But she's pretty upset, so I said we were planning to rearrange the date for this Wednesday."

"Huh," Javier nodded, taking another bite of the apple in his hand.

It was silent for a moment, before Steve turned to you. "I have to put these files on my desk. You're free to leave whenever you wish."

"Thank you," you smiled.

"Of course." Steve nodded, before he left the room, patting his partner on the shoulder.

You moved a strand of hair behind your ear, ignoring the unwavering stare of the other detective across the room. You leaned down, grabbing your purse and jacket from the metal chair, placing the jumper over your crossed arms.

"It was nice meeting you, sir," you said as you passed him.

Suddenly, a gasp escpaed your lips as you felt Javier snake his hand around your upper arm, causing you to come to an abrupt stop. The detective leaned down, and you could feel his warm breath ghost your cheek and neck as he spoke, "Sit back down, hermosa."

You flinched in his grip, before nodding slowly as you waited for him to let go of you. He did after a second, and you turned around, making your way back to the seat. Javier followed, quickly sitting opposite of you as he tossed the apple over his shoulder, the fruit landing in the bin by the now shut door.

He didn't speak, making you nervous as you played with your fingers. His eyes were beady as he analyzed the woman in front of him. You were gorgeous, of course he knew that. He couldn't blame Steve for getting cozy with you. But you were still a suspect. An undetermined suspect.

"Is there something the matter, sir?" you asked.

"No," he shook his head. "I just want to speak with you. Face to face, hermosa." You nodded, showing that you were fine with the interrogation, and Javier immediately began. "Miss Delgado. You have heard of Pablo Escobar, yes?"

"Pablo Escobar?" you echoed, before shaking your head. "No, I can't say I have."

"But you know his nephew." Your eyes widened a fraction at his statement. Javier was perceptive, catching the small action that no one else would've caught. He smiled slightly as he continued, "Little date night with Oscar on Friday?"

"No," you denied. "I do not know of an Oscar. Or this Pablo Escobar."

"Can I call you Y/N?" Javier questioned.

"I suppose," you murmered.

"Y/N, I do not like being lied to," he lowly uttered. "Now, if you could do me the courtesy of telling me why you burnt down your house with the clear evidence of your affiliation with Escobar, all the while killing your friends in the process, I would greatly appreciate it."

Your mouth dropped, and you pinched at your thigh, causing tears to line your eyes. "Everybody knows that I'm a good girl, officer," you said with a tilt of your head.

"So, you're telling me you did not start this fire?"

"No, I wouldn't do a thing like that." Your face dropped into something sad, making Javier squint his eyes. "That's for sure."

The Detective stared at you, his eyes completely boring into yours. He could find no dishonesty in your gaze. Your story added up perfectly, with no gaps or intercoursed events. You were good. Too good. But what was he able to do? He couldn't just pin you as the culprit with no leads. He'd look like a fucking idiot.

Javier sighed, before offering you a tight smile. "That's all I needed, hermosa. Thank you for taking the time to speak with me."

"Of course," you grinned, watching as his gaze travelled down to your lips for a moment. "I don't mind this... face to face interrogation, guapo."

Javier couldn't help but smirk, shaking his head as he stood from the seat, with you following behind him. He walked you through the station, and you kept close to his side, often latching onto his arm as other officers and some criminals moved past you.

He escorted you to the door, stopping at the steps as you turned around. "You have residential homing, right?"

"Your partner set it up for me," you confirmed.

Javier nodded, before reaching into his pocket and pulling out a cigarette. He muttered in spanish as he searched for his lighter, until his eyes widened at the sight of you smirking as you held your own lighter up. It was bright pink, and had a glittery sticker stuck onto it.

"Hermos-."

"Allow me." The cigarette was limp in his mouth as you raised the lighter to it, quickly flicking the switch and an orange flame overtaking the end of the smoke. You placed the lighter back in your pocket, before smirking, "It was nice to meet you, Javier."

You turned around, walking down the steps and onto the dusty road, slipping past cars and people, making your way to the other side. Turning around, you blew a kiss to Javier, who watched your retreating form with a glare, before disappearing into a back alley.
