THE air in the hall was thick, and seulgi could feel it. it wasn't the kind that made her nervous, though; it was the kind that made her feel lonely.

it was a good thing she didn't have the time to be lonely, or wallow in the fact that she was.

she flicked her wrist to check her watch. it was about a half hour more before they would start the event itself, and about another half hour more before they start serving dinner. wendy had told them that guests would be arriving earlier, too, because they'd have a lot of catching up on.

and with all the food and preparations being done, seulgi had no idea if she was hosting a rehearsal dinner or an actual family reunion. all she knew was that being part of the bride's entourage required her to be present earlier than expected, which she was fine with.

she turned to see wendy down the main aisle, looking like a billion won, and seulgi was almost smiling at the bride-to-be's beauty. she looked stunning in her red dress that emphasized her graceful figure and hair running down her shoulders, with matching sleek shoes and red lipstick that made her much more elegant.

she, however, had a scowl on her face. "where is yeri? and joohyun unnie?" she asked, her heels sinking into the red carpet. "of all the people coming, i didn't even begin to think joohyun unnie would be the one who's going to be late."

wendy never usually called any of them by their full names unless she was upset, and judging by the way she was referring to irene with "joohyun", she was definitely about to explode.

"calm down, wendy, they're on their way." seulgi stayed seated on one of the tables up front.

"are they really?" the absence of two of her bridesmaids was obviously stressing wendy out.

"yes, joohyun unnie called me."

"are you lying to me?"

"no, i'm not, she called me shortly before i arriv-"

"you're lying to me."

"i'm not!"

"seulgi-"

"wendy," seulgi interjected, sitting upright. "we talked about this."

"yeah, but-"

"they're coming, okay? stop stressing yourself out. breathe."

she stood up and cupped her hands around wendy's face, wiping excess lipstick from the edge of the latter's lips with her thumb, and tassling her hair for a bit as she calmed down. "you wouldn't want to ruin your look, wouldn't you?"

wendy softly shook her head. "i told them to come early, because we have a lot of shit to take care of, like the-"

"and that's why we called kyungsoo and the guys to go work on them, right?" seulgi said, interrupting her again. "you're overreacting again, hun, everything's perfectly fine."

"do kyungsoo and junmyeon know about the-"

"yes."

"they do?"

"i'm sure they do."

"seulgi-"

"wendy, for the last time, you don't need to worry about anything, okay? everything is already being taken care of." she smiled at her best friend. "just be the loveliest bride tonight, got it?"

wendy took a deep breath, nodded, and looked seulgi in the eyes. "yeah. yeah, okay." she smiled at seulgi, letting her beauty pull through once more. "thanks, seulgi."

"all in a day's work." seulgi held onto one of her hands. "just breathe."

"i really should, but i need to use the restroom," wendy said, letting go of seulgi's hands. "yeri and irene unnie should be here before i get out or there's no dessert for both of them." she smiled once more before walking away, and seulgi let her gaze linger for a bit.

it seemed that having the bride calm down from the wedding jitters and bringing her feet back on the ground was easily the maid of honor's job, because it was almost a half-hour before guests were expected to arrive, and seulgi had to talk to wendy at least five times as the day began. not that she was complaining, though; being chosen as wendy's maid of honor is probably the single highlight of seulgi's twenties, as she had emerged victorious from her other friends. there was irene, who was the mother of the group, and could do so much better in seulgi's opinion; joy, who was willing to punch another girl for the best cake in the city; and yeri, who uses cuteness and puppy voices to get what she wanted, and, in this case, the best lace in the accessory square downtown.

and there was seulgi. being supported by her roommate in an apartment she couldn't afford to give half, can't cook and fails at every audition she tries out for, but makes a decent and loyal friend.

she actually thought wendy was being delusional - or high, whatever makes sense - when she told them it would be seulgi. she said casually when they met in her shared apartment with yoongi, like it wasn't even a big deal: seulgi and i have been friends since college, roommates up until a year ago. we've been through the most shit together, and i think i'd want seulgi to stand by me when i get married. of course, she knew all of them would stand behind her when it was the time to say the vows, but only one would be labeled the maid of honor. it was every girl's dream to be a maid of honor at a girlfriend's wedding, and losing to none other than kang seulgi made them look like they were ready to rip her limbs off. well, joy was, at least.

but they've been through it now. she was actually thinking about it, and truth be told, they - except irene - would've easily given up if they knew getting the label meant having to get wendy to calm down, which was already hard enough on itself, or tolerate her planning and blabbering about the planning.

but, of course, it was probably the best thing in the world.

sitting back down, she could feel the cold air tingle her skin. the atmosphere was still sort of thick, and seulgi assumed it was because of the dress she was wearing: a simple, sleek black dress that hugged her body, up to the caps of her knees and the upper part of her arms. but she knew it wasn't, and maybe it was just the feeling of attending a wedding - wendy's wedding - in general that made her feel all jittery inside.

especially since, well, she was going alone.

"good job handling the volcano," said a masculine voice behind her. she turned to see yoongi clad in a beautiful blue tuxedo, his brown hair in waves covering most of his forehead, but his dark eyes were still visible. he smiled at seulgi as he sat beside her, his eyes crinkling. "it seems like my wedding day is more like an apocalypse deadline rather than a celebration."

seulgi chuckled. "yeah, well, it's my job to clean up any catastrophe before it happens, and that includes the volcano." she folded her arms as he faced him.

"and that is why i should be thanking you," yoongi said. "she's driving herself insane with this wedding and all this planning, she won't even listen to me now. it's driving me insane, too."

"oh, give her a break. every girl awaits her wedding day since the day they turn six, and knowing wendy, this has probably all been planned out before she started elementary school."

yoongi chuckled at seulgi's remark. "i get it, but she's getting more roles on the preparations than i do, and she's getting too worked up on it, and i do too, in the process." he shifted in his seat to lean on the table. "i wouldn't mind an additional set of work, you know."

seulgi just shook her head at him. "just let her be."

"i'm just worried for her, is all. i don't want her to think about this too much, i just want our wedding day to be happy." he leaned on the table. "and if she's going to keep stressing herself out, it won't be any more magical than we both hope it would be."

"she'll be fine. you'll both be fine. trust me, it'll be just as magical as you expect," seulgi replied. she eyed his suit. "oppa, you're getting married, what can be more magical than that?"

"getting married in bed."

seulgi raised an eyebrow at him. "seriously?"

"the end justifies the means, right?"

she shook her head at him. "how're you feeling?"

"how am i feeling right now or about this whole marrying thing?"

"you know what i mean."

"elated, and that feeling where your heart is in your throat. what's it called?"

"nervousness," seulgi replied, laughing.

"that. i have so much hopes for us, but so many fears at the same time."

"wedding jitters?"

"you know it." yoongi sighed to himself. "seungwan stressing about every small thing in her path isn't helping either."

"i told you, you're going to be fine. this is nothing the great min yoongi can't handle." she giggled at him as he scowled. "i like your tux, by the way."

yoongi looked at himself, straightening up. "i do? how is it?"

"you look handsome, oppa."

"thank you, seulgi-ah. although," he said, reaching for the pocket of his coat, "it's missing one more detail to make me look even more handsome." he turned and pulled out a small purplish lavender flower attached to a small pin, creating a brooch. "i bought it myself. i wanted to show her something nice." he looked at her. "do you mind?"

"not at all," she said, smiling as she took the small contraption in her hands and reached out to pin in on the breast-pocket of his coat. yoongi tilted himself closer to make it easier for her as she did so. wendy's favorite flower was lavender, and yoongi wanted to show that he belonged to wendy, with that small sparkle in his eyes and the goofy smile on his face — and that made seulgi's heart want to burst.

"you wanna know something, seulgi?" yoongi said as soon as she finished, smoothing out the coat and adjusting the small flower.

"what?"

"i'm glad i'm marrying someone like wendy," he said, the biggest smile on his face. "i didn't think she'd wanted to marry someone like me, too, but who can tell, right?"

"don't be silly, she loves you a lot." seulgi patted his shoulder. "you're a great guy. she's infinitely as happy to be marrying you, oppa."

"a guy like me is surely happier." seulgi looked into yoongi's eyes and knew the moment she saw it: he was in love, and in that all that he knew.

seulgi smiled to herself. it would've been safe to say that she envied the two lovebirds, but she wouldn't let him know.

she wouldn't let anyone know.

"don't tell her i told you that," yoongi said suddenly, snapping out of his trance.

she nodded, keeping her laughter in. "i won't."

"i mean it."

"i really wo—"

"unnie," joy's voice calling and heels clicking came from behind both of them, making them turn around, "guests are expected to arrive a bit soon, we should be getting ready."

seulgi looked at yoongi, who was getting ready to stand up. "i'd better be going, yoongi oppa."

"you should," yoongi said, palming the small flower by the brooch as he stood up. "you wouldn't want wendy going after your ass."

"she's already bugging junmyeon oppa about the chandelier lights," joy added. "if anything, we need to keep her from passing out over nothing."

"we really should," seulgi replied, standing up, straightening her dress, "and you—" she said, slapping yoongi's shoulder, "—should go and meet everyone coming, they're going to want to see the lucky guy."

"some lucky guy i am." the sarcasm in yoongi's voice made them snicker. "i'll be fine, i guess. now, go." yoongi made a small fist bump gesture towards seulgi, who returned it, before glaring at her playfully. "don't tell anyone, kang."

"i won't, don't worry about it." she chuckled at him. "good luck out there, big boy."

"stay out of trouble, mister groom," joy added. yoongi smiled at her before they walked away.

"what was that about?" joy asked when they have reached a reasonable distance away from him, but still resumed with walking.

"he was being a big, adorable softie," seulgi replied, smiling. "he told me not to let anyone know, and that probably includes you. he's probably embarrassed about the fact that he's so whipped for wendy."

"and what makes him think he's okay with showing you that?"

"i'm the maid of honor. any objections?"

"whatever," joy rolled her eyes, but smiled almost immediately. "what a goofy romantic yoongi oppa is."

seulgi smiled. "he really is."

the room wasn't necessarily glittering, but it was shining in seulgi's eyes; the hall was a vast cream-colored room, with golden panel lights illuminating every corner. the marbled floor was almost transparent, and the sheets that covered the round tables that scattered the area was made of such a sleek material. every small detail was splashed with a hint of lavender, the theme of the nuptial, with small little flowers gracing each table and the scent of freshly picked flowers circulating in the air. hanging on the blank ceiling was a elegant chandelier, that twinkled as the light hit from different parts of the room.

how they managed to reserve this hall was a mystery to seulgi, but joy and yeri always manage to convince her that yoongi was rich — from what they knew, he was a producer for the company wendy for as a demo vocalist, which was how they met — and they were living the dream nevertheless.

but seulgi was just happy wendy got to have her dream wedding here.

"wendy unnie told me to have you greet guests by the door and usher them to their tables," joy said. "i'll stay with you. yoongi oppa probably will greet the guests, too."

"what about irene unnie? and yeri?"

"i have no idea, they just got here." they walked to the table up front, where irene and yeri, in black and rose gold dresses respectively, were getting themselves ready for the party.

"nice of you to show up," seulgi said as they approached the table. "wendy's going to kill you for being late."

"we already know that, she said she'll kill us later," yeri replied.

"we'd better get going, guests are arriving."

and sure enough, less than another half hour later, guests clad in beautiful dresses and coats flocked the whole hall. everyone was smiling — from wendy's distant aunts in canada to yoongi's cousins back in daegu — and that only meant more seats to be filled, and more guests to accommodate.

seulgi and joy were in usher duty, with wendy and yoongi greeting the guests as they go along, walking from table to table. irene had to fill in for seulgi at once when yoongi's grandmother had requested for the maid of honor, and yeri had to make sure the drinks and appetizers were ready to be served.

"yoongi's parents are now in their seats," irene said, walking up to where joy and seulgi were talking. "wendy's college friends are on their way and a rowdy crowd, and namjoon just told me he'd invited some guests of his own."

"is he allowed to do that?"

"he's the best man, and they're just a few people tops." irene placed a hand on seulgi's shoulder. "can you greet guests by the door? i need to go to the restroom."

seulgi nodded, with no time or capacity to think, with more guests expected to come in. "got it." she stood up. "anybody got a copy of names still expected to arrive?"

she found herself by the door five minutes later after walking through a sea of relatives and friends, looking through a seat plan joy had given her.

the sound of footsteps followed a pause and silence, before a masculine voice spoke to her.

"excuse me?" seulgi propped her head up to see a familiar face, a guy in a pink button-up that hugged his form perfectly and in slacks that made his legs seem longer, hair brushed away from his face to reveal warm features gazing at her.

seulgi could only look for a small moment.

"jimin," she said, her thoughts being confirmed by his small nod and smile. "wha—"

"would you mind showing us our table?" he said, smiling apologetically as seulgi's eyebrows furrowed in confusion."

"our—?" she was cut off by an elegant aura very much familiar to her, in a dress as black as hers and with hair falling gracefully by her shoulders, revealing a face more beautiful than she had expected.

"hello, unnie." seulgi swore her heart just crushed even more.

"hello, mina."
