An apology slips
from her too-pale lips
as her vision fades to black.
Her mother, so close to her,
wants nothing
except for her little baby back,
but the young girl,
so broken and deceived,
knows nothing of her mother's love.
To her, nothing was as it seemed.
Her mother bawls over the pale corpse,
saying "I'm sorry" over and over again.
But her daughter can't hear her;
she can't hear the refrain.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, daughter," her mother cries.
"I'm sorry I never listened, I'm sorry this was your life.
Beautiful daughter,
I love you so much.
I'm sorry I wasn't there for you.
I'm sorry I made you hurt.
If I could do it all over, I would.
I want nothing except for you;
I was too caught up to help you,
though back then I could."

His parents never paid him attention,
and he thought he had no friends.
He was always an artist,
and his wrists were painted sins,
covered in all his best work,
but all he did was hide.
Until one day, he painted too much,
and he fell on his side.
His father found him lying there,
caked in his own blood.
His father rocked him back and forth,
calling, "Please come back to me, son."
The son's skin grew paler
as he slipped further into sleep.
To his father, sound left the world,
making not even a peep.
"I love you, son! I love you so!
I'm sorry you never knew.
I wish you were here with me,
so that we could start over new.
Please, dear son, come back to me.
I love you, oh, I do.
Beautiful son, we all love you.
You never deserved this.
You deserved the life of light;
you never deserved to miss.
Oh, beautiful son, I love you.
Please don't go."

These are the people that we don't see;
we see what they want.
We see them happy and free,
not caged and afraid.
Be aware,
for they're everywhere.
They might be next to you.
They could be family, they could be friend;
you never know what they might do.
They're broken, sad, but they're strong.
Just hold on, kid.
You'll make it through.
It won't be long.
