You were standing by your locker with Ariella, Gwen and Penny, discussing classes, what to eat for lunch, and of course, the incoming homecoming.

"So, you got any idea on who you should ask?" the latter questioned you, watching as you placed your supplies into the locker.

"Not really," you shrugged. "Thinking of going solo."

"Uh, no." You glanced up at Gwen, letting out an amused snicker at the pure shock and disgust playing at her usually bright and sweet features. "You just can't go to homecoming without a date. I won't let you."

"Then we'll go as a group?" Ariella suggested.

"That's good," you agreed. "That way no one will be alone."

"Well, I don't plan on going alone," Gwen smirked.ย

"And who are you going to ask?" the ice-powered girl questioned.

"You might know him, Y/N."

"Stop, is it Chris?" you pried. "I thought he was hinting at asking someone I know to homecoming."

"He's asking you," Gwen deadpanned. Your face went blank as confusion blossomed, before sighing when the two girls giggled at you at your stupid obliviousness.ย

"Okay, then who're you asking?" Ariella continued to probe.

Wordlessly, a cheeky and playful smirk made its way across Gwen's lips as she looked past you and the girl. You turned around, eyes squinting in confusion as to who she was looking at. There was only the corridor, with direct vision into the cafeteria.

"All I see is Will."

"Exactly."

You had never spun so quickly before in your life. Your mouth parted in shock as you stared at Gwen. "Are you kidding me?" you questioned wildly, hands flailing about. "Oh, this is a joke, right? Tell me this a joke."

"Geez, calm down," Gwen scoffed, rolling her eyes good-naturedly as if this were completely normal. "It's not like we'd really 'go-go'. It would just be a friend kind of thing."

"Oh my God." You shook your head rapidly, practically feeling dizzy from such a small movement. "You're actually disgusting."

Gwen simply laughed, throwing her head back whilst you leaned back against your locker.ย

"PRINCIPAL POWERS! PRINCIPAL POWERS!"

You looked away from the brunette down the hallway which led to the cafeteria, finding Mr. Boy rushing down towards the principal's office. His tone was loud and oozed worry as he clashed into the wall from the slipperiness of his shoes.

You shared a confused glance with your friends just as there was a rush of movement, frowning at the sight of a dozen kids dashing just the way the teacher had come, headed straight for the cafeteria.

"I suddenly just got hit with nausea," you mumbled, before taking off in an abrupt fashion.ย

"Y/N?!" Ariella exclaimed in confusion, watching your figure disappear behind the lockers. She wordlessly shared a glance with Gwen and Penny before the three followed after you.

"Get out of my way!" you yelled out in frustration when they found you at the entrance of the cafeteria. Gwen placed a steady hand on your shoulder to try and calm you down whilst Penny and her duplicates made work of the people crowding the area.

"Out of the way! Move!" they all yelled out, shoving people left and right as you shimmied your way to the front.

When you had seen the bright flames appearing every second or so, and the worried look on Layla a few feet up ahead, you had a feeling your brother was in deathly trouble.

And deathly was correct when you saw the gleam in Warren Peace's dark brown eyes as bursts of fire erupted from his enclosed fists, each flame directed at your little brother.

Will fell to the floor, and you cursed at his terrible footing. Penny and Ariella held you back slightly, but they knew you might not intervene due to the no fighting on school grounds rule.ย

Warren grunted as he thrashed his arms out, fire erupting along the leather of his worn jacket. He curved into a ball, tossing it directly at a table just as Will had slipped under it. The plastic of the counter melted slightly due to the heat of the flame, and Warren leaped onto the intact section of the table.

He thrust his hands out with each step, every plunge urging another burst of fire to emit from his hands, until they both had reached the end of the long white table.

"Where are your sidekicks, sidekick?" he questioned in a yell.

"Right here!"

He looked up from the ground to the side where he had heard a voice, finding Zach, Layla, Magenta and Ethan standing at the front of the ogle of people.

At the sight of them, Warren lowly groaned, even more fire spilling from the pores of body and on display, the sight displaying a fiery devil standing above them. Wordlessly, Ethan melted to the ground using his powers in fear, whilst the others stepped back. What use were the powers against the aggressive fire-wielding hot-head across from them?

As Warren raised his fiery arms above in an attemptive strike, Will suddenly felt a surge of power and anger rush through them. Fear for his friends safety fuelled him as he pressed his hands to the roof of the table.

"Leave them alone!"

Suddenly, the table lifted effortlessly into the air with Will appearing beneath it, holding it without so much as an exerted breath. You caught his eye, both of you sharing a shocked, bewildered look.

"He's strong!" Layla grinned.

"I'm strong?" Will mumbled with a smile.

"He's super-strong," Gwen smirked.

Warren wobbled on the table, and you nodded at Will, the boy immediately tossing the bench to the side. You watched as Warren slammed into the side of the roof, landing down in another table that crushed under the weight.

The crowd cheered, and you let out an ecstatic yell of pride, Penny flinching at the sudden noise of cheer coming from you. Your brother almost revelled in the praise, before he turned around and scowled at Lash and Speed, who stood to the side.

"Now, who tripped me?" he questioned.

The pair didn't respond, instead the latter dashing off somewhere in the school whilst Lash stretched his arms above. He held onto the piping at the roof, lifting himself up to avoid Will, dangling lamely over him.

"Stronghold!"

Will spun around, finding Warren crawling out from the table and standing up. He had never seemed angrier, this evident when his flames burst out with a tinge of blue, signifying just how enraged he was.

"What if I said it's not just her twin? It's her evil twin," Coach Boomer, in the teachers lounge which was beside the cafeteria, spoke up.

"... This Friday, you say?"

"Medulla, you dog!"

Suddenly, a loud bang behind them sounded, and the two teachers turned in wonder, finding a large hole in the wall that connected them to the cafeteria. On one of the pillars inside, they found Warren crushed against it, the boy pushing himself out and rushing back out the hole.

"Think I can't take a hit?" he shouted as he moved back into theย

He began speeding towards Will, yelling loudly as he ran, and your brother's eyes widened, his panicked voice ringing out in the cafeteria, "Y/N!"

"So now you want some help?" you questioned as you came forth from the crowd. You rushed forward from behind Will and moved in front of him, readying your stance.

How's this for a hit?

You locked eyes with Warren as he approached, and his gaze widened slightly, his movements slowing for just a moment, something you had just missed as you strung your hands forward.

The water from around the cafeteria listened to your honing powers, the liquid moving towards you at lightning speed. You let out a shout as you surged the water forward, Will and the rest of the cafeteria watching in astonishment.

The liquid splashed against Warren, and steam fizzled off of him as his fire was extinguished almost immediately, the sound of sizzling echoing in the room. Everyone was silent as he gasped for breath due to the water washing over his face as well, but their breath was bated when the clicking of heels sounded.

Principal Powers appeared from the crowd of students, arms crossed as she stared at you and Will, the younger boy cowering behind you as he peaked over your shoulder to see both her and Warren.

"Hi," he whispered out with a breath.

A moment later, you found yourself walking in between Will and Warren, the latter glaring at you and your brother as you all trailed behind Powers.

She led you towards a room down a bright hallway, the futuristic door whirring as it slid open when she pressed a button. You followed Will inside, cautious of Warren being right behind you.

"I didn't do anything, though. He started it," Will started up again as he walked through the blindingly white room.

"Your dad started it, and I'm going to finish it," Warren corrected, tauting his shoulder muscles to hone his fire. However, he scowled in confusion when there was nothing but silence.

"Don't bother," Powers piped up. "The Detention Room neutralises all superpowers. Sit." All three of you did so as quickly as she had demanded, and she smiled, crossing her arms. "Here at Sky High, we do everything we can to teach you how to use your powers. But what you did with them, now that's up to you. Living up to your father's reputation, or trying to live it down is a sad waste of talent. Your talent. Try to keep that in mind the next time you're about to do something stupid."

"Principal Powers, I-."

"I'm very disappointed in you, Ms. Stronghold," Powers pointedly stated, raising a single brow at you.

You opened your mouth to respond, the only sound being a defeated sigh as she left the room. Leaning forward, your elbows rested on the pristine white desk as your hands flew to your hair, your fingers threading through the strands as if to ease your stress.

Will watched you from his seat, guilt coursing through him. You didn't have to take the heat like him and Warren, but you still did. He was forever grateful that you had stepped in, the notion making him speak.

"I'm really sorry, Y/N," he mumbled softly, his face pulling into a soft frown.

"What was that?" you questioned, sitting up straight like a rod. "Did you seriously have to engage in his stupid behaviour?"

"He attacked me!"

"Warren attacks everyone," you scoffed, shaking your head.

"I do not," the boy in question muttered in denial.

"Oh, shut up!" you shouted, annoyance at his child-like behaviour setting off a nerve. "You think it's funny going after my little brother?"ย

He pinched his eyes shut, nose flaring as he slammed his hand against the desk. "I actually think it's hilarious. Especially when your knickers get all twisted because of it."

"You're such an asshole," you scoffed, crossing your arms. "Look, I get it? My dad locked your dad up, and it's this whole generational thing, but you either leave my brother alone or you'll learn just how cold I bite."

You were standing now, and Warren Peace was never one to back down, especially in the face of a Stronghold. "Bring it on," he hissed, leaning down to match your height. "I'm sure that's not the only way I can get you to bite. But I'm welcome to try."

Your eyes squinted in a cold glare before you swayed your fingers across his hand. He glanced down at the action, chest seizing slightly at the touch of your skin on his before he realised that his hand was frosted against the desk.

"It helps being the Student Body President," you smirked. "Lot of the time I have to intervene with certain situations, and sometimes powers shouldn't be restricted in the face of danger."

Warren tried moving it, grunting a little before exclaiming in annoyance. His hand was too cold to melt the ice, and his anger was only fuelled by your obnoxious giggle that he hated to admit was a wonderful sound to his ears.

"Okay, I feel like I'm interrupting something." Will's voice brought you both back, and you cocked your heat to the side to find him watching you both in bewilderment. "Look, whatever happened with our dads, it has nothing to do with us. What do you say?"

Will reached out his hand to Warren with a smile, and the boy looked between him, the appendage and you, your arms crossed as a sneer painted your features.

"I say..." Warren started, wrenching his hand from the frozen water. You flinched slightly as he flexed his fingers. "If either of youย ever cross me again, I'll roast you alive."

You rolled your eyes, turning to sit back down whilst Will merely allowed his hand to drop in defeat.

After school, you allowed Will a ride to home, seeing that you had all stayed after school for detention. He was brimming with excitement as you landed in the driveway, your scolding voice not at all deteriorating him as he rushed towards the door.

"Dude!" you shouted just as he reached the front door. "Watch your streng-!"

"OH!" he gasped aloud when the door seized under his strength, the hinges dripping as he held the cracked door up by the brass handle.ย

"Maybe if you listened!" you hissed lowly.

"Leave the tone for our parents!" he snapped back as you stepped past him. Together, you both gripped the door, placing it as gently as you could against its original spot. You lifted your hands, wafting water from thin air and freezing it over the hinges for a short-term fix.

"So, kids..." You flinched at the sound of your mother's voice, both you and Will spinning around the find your parents standing in the middle of the corridor. "Anything interesting happen at school today?"

"Uh... Well, as you may have noticed, I got my powers today!" Will exclaimed, walking towards them. As he spoke, he lifted your mother into the air as a display of his newfound abilities, but the woman merely glared down at him from her sudden new fixture in height.

"Yes, we know. The principal called," she nodded.

"Look, it's not... It's not as bad as it sounds," Will chuckled nervously. "It's actually a really funny, great story."

"You nearly destroyed the cafeteria!"

"Yeah, but mum... I got my powers!"

"And do you know how to use them wisely?"

"Well-."

"And you," your mother suddenly continued, pinning her gaze onto you. "You're the older sister! You're meant to guide him out of trouble, not aid him!"

"Hey, now, wait," Will intervened, frowning. "Y/N defended me when I was about to be killed! If it weren't for her, they'd be scraping my charred body off the tiles and handing me to you right now. So... So please, don't get mad at her."

Your parents looked at Will in astonishment, as did you. Your brother rarely defended you, and vice versa, so this was an interesting new development.

"Uh..." Your father shook his head, blinking before continuing, "Right. Will. Sanctum. Now."

He dragged your brother down towards the secret hideout beneath the house for training whilst your mother and you stood in the hallway.

"What's the bet he's not actually scolding him?" you questioned to break the silence.

"Of course he's going to scold him," your mother scoffed.

"Nuh-uh," you shook your head. "When I got my powers and we went to the Sanctum, he took me on a shopping spree."

The woman frowned, before gasping aloud, her fingers snapping as she suddenly recalled, "So that's why I found a Best Buy's receipt in the trash can!"

"Told you."
