Frogertha walked around the village, greeted people she had known all her life, listened to the sounds of nature and was simply happy to be healthy and alive.

Not like her mother, who died months after she was born. Frogertha missed her very much, but she was glad that she was now dining with the gods in the hall of Valhalla!

The Danes could not imagine a more beautiful place for their dead than the Hall of Valhalla! Everything else was comparable to the hell that the Saxons had for their dead who had not made it to heaven.

But the Danes didn't like the Saxons and had been destroying and fighting them for decades, and they probably wouldn't stop any time soon! The Danes simply couldn't live together with the Saxons because they didn't accept their god and the Saxons didn't accept the Danish gods!

Sigefrid, Frogertha's father was proud that he had such an honest, brave, battle-hardened and helpful daughter! He brought her up and did everything his late wife had asked him to do - to raise her to hate the Saxons and be fearless, and that's exactly what he did!

Frogertha had been killing Saxons since she was 15 years old, and now that she was about to turn 19, she enjoyed it even more! Sigefrid and her uncle Erik loved to watch her and celebrate with her after every victory!

She couldn't think of a better family and she counted her father's and uncle's men as family too, as she had known them all her life! The men protected Frogertha from everything and everyone and she was eternally grateful to them.

But after her father and uncle had taken a new Dane and his men into the family, everything had changed...

The men didn't laugh as much as they used to, they didn't like to fight and worst of all - they drank too much ale!

Frogertha didn't understand why they were doing this and she didn't understand why her father and uncle were allowing it! It was almost unbearable and Frogertha wanted to run away, but she knew that would break her father's and uncle's heart.

Completely lost in thought and not really in the mood to talk to anyone, she was suddenly torn from her thoughts by Hรฆsten.

"Frogertha, would you like to come along later? A few of my men and I are going to kill Saxons!" Frogertha lifted her head and looked at Hรฆsten. She wasn't quite sure how much ale he had already drunk and whether he could even walk straight, but she didn't feel like killing anyway.

"Sorry, Hรฆsten, I don't want to kill anyone today. Why don't you take my father and my uncle with you, I'm sure they won't say no!" Hรฆsten looked at Frogertha, confused and a little annoyed, and seemed to be thinking of an answer. He was sure of himself and was determined to have her with him!

"Oh come on, Frogertha, it'll be fun! And when we get back, we'll all have a drink together and talk about our success! So what do you say?" he could be really annoying and Frogertha had a tendency to be easily manipulated since childhood!

"Okay, agreed, I'll come with you!" Hรฆsten smiled at her mischievously. Frogertha hated it when he did that and he actually knew it! Nevertheless, she took a deep breath before taking the floor again.

"But only on the condition that we return home immediately if I don't feel like it anymore, all right?" Hรฆsten and his men nodded, which made Frogertha happy. She loved it when Hรฆsten gave in and listened to her.

A few minutes later they had ridden off and Frogertha was already getting annoyed. Hรฆsten and his men laughed at the most unfunny things, the horses generally had a problem with their manners and it was cold.

Frogertha rolled her eyes from time to time and secretly hoped that someone would kill Hรฆsten and his men with arrows. But unfortunately that didn't happen and Frogertha had to continue to endure their presence!

At some point they passed a Saxon village and Hรฆsten immediately brought his horse to a halt. Frogertha looked at him and instantly shook her head. This village was too close to Winchester and she didn't fancy the consequences!

She knew that King Alfred did not tolerate Danes on his land and had anyone killed, who killed innocent people! But Hรฆsten and his men didn't care! They stormed the village and killed everything in their path! Frogertha felt sick and scared... scared of what was about to happen!

She thought about simply turning back and warning her father and uncle! Would that be the right decision? Would that make the situation better? Probably not, but she had to do it! If there was a tiny chance of not dying, she had to take it!

So she rode back and announced that they had to take a fortress as quickly as possible to avoid being overrun! Her father and uncle didn't understand what she wanted from them at first, but when Hรฆsten and his men came back, Sigefrid realised that his daughter was right!

The next day they set out to capture the fortress of Beamfleot. They were successful and now lived a somewhat safer life! But this security did not last long, as a King called 'Guthred' needed the help of her father, uncle and their men. Frogertha had no desire to go with them, but she had even less desire to stay with Hรฆsten and his men!

After riding off and eventually reaching Cumberland, the 3 met Uhtred Ragnarsson and his small group of trusted friends and allies. Frogertha didn't like him, even though she didn't really know him, and somehow he seemed to notice that, because he looked at her every now and then and tilted his head.

And every time he did that, she rolled her eyes to provoke him and it really worked! She thought it was funny and tried with all her might not to laugh, which was really hard with his stupid face! Even the woman who seemed to be King Guthred's sister found it funny how Frogertha provoked Uhtred!

Frogertha had no problem with her, she looked friendly, kind-hearted, honest and helpful! She had a really sweet face and her brown eyes sparkled in the low sun.

She was beautiful and Frogertha couldn't help but look at her the whole time. At some point, she looked at Frogertha too and smiled. Frogertha had never seen such a beautiful smile and hoped she would see this beautiful woman again one day...
