Jimin
Jimin couldn't remember what had happened. Not really. One minute, he was on the subway, then the next he was in a stranger's room with his phone dead. He couldn't remember how he had gotten here, who had brought him here, or if he had brought himself here.
He sat up in bed and looked around the room, then down at himself. He was in the same clothes, which was a relief. He didn't want to be in that movie scene where the stranger changes your clothes while you sleep. That was just weird.
The door to the room creaked open, to which Jimin's gaze went. It was a guy carrying a tray of food, food that led Jimin to believe it was around breakfast time.
"Oh, good, you're up," the male said, despite Jimin's frozen state. "I'm guessing you don't remember what happened?"
When Jimin didn't respond, the male set the tray on the dresser and continued. "You called me yesterday. Told me to meet you in the subway, that you wanted to talk about something."
Jimin just stared at him, his mouth practically glued shut. He kind of remembered this. He remembered leaving the voicemail.
"When I got to the subway," the male continued, "I found you and went to go up to you, to get your attention, but when you turned around, you passed out."
"Why did you bring me here, Kai?" Jimin said, his voice firm.
Kai sighed and lowered his head, shuffling his feet a little bit before looking back up. "You were passed out, Jimin. I had to do something. I couldn't just leave you there."
"Look, calling you was a mistake," Jimin said. "I should just leave."
He went to stand up, but Kai pushed him back down onto the bed.
"You're not going anywhere," Jongin replied. "You passed out and haven't eaten anything since. When was the last time you've eaten?"
Jimin shuffled uncomfortably in his seat and shrugged. "I don't know."
"If you don't know, then you haven't eaten recently." The fact that Kai was right annoyed Jimin. The two were long-gone exes. If he was being honest, he didn't know why he had even called Kai in the first place.
"Do you at least have a phone charger?" Jimin asked and looked up at his ex. "Someone should at least know I'm alive."
"I don't have have one for your phone, I need to go out and get one," Kai said and brought the tray of food over to the bed. "Now, eat. I'll go try to find a charger, and when I get back, this tray better be empty."
"Kai?"
"Hm?"
Jimin presses his lips together. "Why do you care what happens to me?"
Jongin furrowed his brows and leaned back a bit in surprise. "What do you mean?"
"Well...things ended so badly between us. Don't you, y'know, hate my guts?"
"Hate your—" Kai sighed lightly and shook his head. "I have no reason to hate your guts, Jimin. I was the one who messed up at all. If anything, you should hate my guts."
Jimin looked down and twiddled his thumbs lightly, only before Jongin opened the door. "Just...don't leave while I'm gone, alright? I'll be back with the charger soon."
Jimin modded a bit but didn't say anything, only to hear the door shut a few seconds later.
How had he gotten himself into this mess?
Kai returned a little under an hour later with the charger.
Handing it to Jimin, who took it eagerly, Jongin said, "Do you have to contact anyone?"
Now, it was time for Jimin to furrow his brows. "What? Well, yeah. I don't want them worrying or anything."
"I just mean that it'd be nice, y'know, to talk again, hang out." Kai shuffled from foot to foot in the doorway, his hands shoved in his pockets.
Jimin slowly lowered his phone and raised his eyes up to Kai. "You're not suggesting what I think you're suggesting, are you?"
"No...okay, maybe kind of."
"Oh my gosh, Jongin," Jimin said exasperatedly and set his phone down, standing up. "I didn't call you to get back together with you. I may not remember exactly why I called, but I know that's not it."
"I'm not saying we should get back together, Jimin," Kai replied, "but you called me for a reason. Whatever that reason may be, don't you think it at least means something?"
Jimin sighed and crossed his arms, tilting his head to the side a bit. Finally, after a long pause of silence, he said, "Maybe."
"Then would it be so bad to leave your phone dead for a little bit?"
Another long pause.
"Jimin?"
"I guess not so bad...but they should at least know where I am."
"Well, what if I tell them for you? It's that group of six you're talking about, right?"
Jimin nodded, before sighing—again—and saying, "Fine."
Kai let out a small smile of relief and nodded a bit. "Okay. Okay, great! I'll, um, I'll go grab some new clothes for you to wear."
Jimin modded a bit and watched as the other male left the room. Seriously, what had he gotten himself into?
