chapter eight- ivy?

Niall's POV

"Why don't we go on a walk?" I asked Addi.

We hadn't really gone anywhere, and I was dying to meet up with my good friend Derick. I figured a walk would be nice when we finished breakfast.

Addi looked up at me while chewing pancakes. She shook her head and swallowed. "I have to clean up the house."

I stared at Addi with my eyebrows raised before looking around.

"What are you looking for?" Addi asked me.

"The mess," I chuckled. "It's perfectly clean here."

Addi shook her head. "Dusting and stuff. Anybody with allergies would die in this house,"

I rolled my eyes. "Oh, please. It's not that bad in here!"

Ivy, who had already finished her pancakes, was sitting in the living room watching Vampirina. "Achoo!" boomed the little voice. Addi and I looked over, and Ivy made eye contact. "Da dusties got in my nose," she complained.

Addi looked over at me with the "I told you so" face. I rolled my eyes at her. "Whatever," I muttered.

"Hey, you can still take Ivy. She'll be a nuisance anyways when I clean," Addi pointed out.

Ivy looked over at the mention of her name. "Wat?"

"You wanna go on a walk?" I questioned enthusiastically.

Ivy's eyes widened and she clasped her hands together. "Ousside?"

"Yeah, outside," I laughed.

Ivy clapped her hands. "Yay!"

I ran over to Ivy and scooped her up. "Let's go get ready, hm?"

Ivy nodded and we started walking down the hall.

"Hey!" Addison interrupted. Me and Ivy both looked back at her. "Clean up your plate!"

I put Ivy down. "Stay right here, okay?"

Ivy nodded furiously. "O-tay!"

I cleaned up my plate and rinsed it off and left it in the sink before going back to Ivy. I picked her up again and we went to her room. I sat her on the changing table and told her to stay put so she didn't fall. I opened her dresser to pick something for her to wear. The drawers were filled with pretty much every color of the rainbow, and I had no clue what to choose. There was a blue blouse with yellow bloomers that I offered Ivy but she vetoed that real quick.

"Da pants are too itchy," Ivy complained as I slipped on a pair of jeans. I groaned.

"What do you want then?" I crooned. We had gone through like eight outfits, and I was so over my diva of a daughter.

Ivy tapped her chin before exclaiming, "Pink!"

I pulled a pink, long sleeved blouse with matching yoga pants. Ivy nodded when I held them up. After putting the outfit on her, I picked her up and started walking out of the room.

Ivy hit me in the head. "No!" she squealed in my ear.

"What now?" I groaned.

"I need my hair cwips" Ivy complained.

"Ivy, you do not need your hair clips," Addison hollered from the kitchen.

Ivy pouted, but didn't ask for the clips any more. When we got to the door, I grabbed a pair of shoes for Ivy. They were plain white and worn down a bit, but they were the first pair I saw.

"We're leaving," I informed Addison.

"Wait!" Addi came running in. "I have to say goodbye."

Addi grabbed Ivy's face and kissed her cheek. "Bye, baby,"

"Bye mama!" Ivy opened and closed her hand to wave.

"What about me?" I pouted jokingly.

Addi rolled her eyes and kissed me before closing the door on us.

"So, how's it been?" my bud Derick asked as we walked downtown. Ivy was wandering in front of us.

"Well, I finally got me family back," I pointed out.

"I see that," Derick laughed, motioning to Ivy.

Ivy turned around to face me and put her arms up.

I swung her up, and she laid her head on my shoulder.

"Ya tired?" I asked Ivy.

She shook her head. "No. I just want ice keem,"

I laughed. "Not a bad idea, darlin'."

We walked to a. ice cream parlor down the road. I got chocolate, Derick got moose tracks, and Ivy got vanilla.

I pulled out my phone to take a video of a goofy Ivy, who had ice cream all over her face.

"What did you get?" I asked her playfully.

"Banilla!" She smiled brightly before I ended the recording and snapped a picture.

I texted Addison the picture

To: Addison Horan ❤️

a/n just pretend she had blue eyes in that picture ^^

I smiled at the picture and put my phone away. Derick and I walked around a bit more.

The paparazzi started snapping pictures, but I didn't mind. I really was just walking. Derick and I continued to talk.

"She is a cutie," Derick remarked.

I nodded in agreement. "Yeh, she is."

I smiled a minute before thinking. My smile faded as I looked around.

"Speaking of..." I started, still glancing around every corner.

Reality set in, along with panic.

"Where's Ivy?" I asked Derick.

He crooked his eyebrows. "Wha-"

"Where is Ivy?" I boomed.

Derick's eyes widened and he looked around.

"Ivy!" I yelled. I hoped I would hear her squeal, or giggle, or babble. No such luck.

I put my hands on my head, pulling my hair in panic.

I looked over at Derick. "Where was the last time you saw her?" I asked him.

Derick thought for a second. "I think by the..." he trailed off. His eyes widened, and his face resembled fear.

"What?" I asked, my voice firm.

"...the pond..." he finished slowly. My eyes opened wide.

"No!" I yelled. I ran back towards the pond. "Ivy!" I hollered.

Come on, love, answer!

Still nothing. I earned strange looks from the people around me. I decided I would ask people. I headed to a young woman, who was wearing a plain t-shirt and skinny jeans.

"Excuse me?" I asked politely, my voice shaking. She looked up to me. "Have you seen a little girl? Curly-ish hair? About, uh, yay high?" I motioned my hand to about one and a half feet.

She shook her head, and turned away. That's when I broke down.
