xxx. Think of Me Waking

Charlotte rolled over in bed and cuddled into her husband's side, pulling the sheets over her shoulders. "Good morning," she mumbled.

"Good morning," Erik replied, draping his arm over her side and pulling her close. "You sound so tired, my love. Did you not sleep well after we got to bed? I felt you moving a lot."

"Your child has figured out that kicking is the perfect way to disturb my sleep," Charlotte sighed.

Erik laughed quietly, then gave her a kiss. "And you're only three months along? This is certainly setting up to be a different experience entirely."

"Wonderful," Charlotte groaned. "I'm going to go wake up Gustave."

"Okay. I'll be here," Erik said as he pulled the bed sheets up to his chin and rolled onto his side.

Charlotte kissed his cheek and slid out of bed, pulling on her dressing gown as she walked out of the room. Quickly, she shut the door and stepped into Angelina's room, smiling at the sight of the two children as she approached and gently took the baby in her arms.

Gustave stirred when she did and immediately let out a groan. "I can't feel my legs," he said quietly.

Charlotte laid Angelina in her crib before kneeling down and kissing her son's forehead. "That's because you slept on the floor with your sister all night," she whispered.

"All night?" he asked, rubbing his face.

"Yes, dear," Charlotte chuckled. "Why don't you come lay in bed with your father and I?"

Gustave nodded and got to his feet, wincing when he did. "My feet are tingling," he said with a pained laugh.

"Let me carry you," Charlotte said softly.

"You don't have to. I don't want you to hurt yourself or the baby..." Gustave began, only to pause and frown as he processed his own words. "I sound like Papa."

"Quite," Charlotte giggled, kissing his cheek. "Just let me carry you. It's only the next room."

Gustave nodded and boosted himself up into his mother's arms, letting her carry him into the master bedroom and gently set him down on the bed. "Thank you," he whispered.

"You're welcome," Charlotte whispered back with a smile as she slipped her robe off, then crawled into bed bedside him.

"Did Gustave wake up?" Erik asked, still half-asleep with his back turned to his wife, completely oblivious to his son's presence.

"Yes and no. Angelina is fast asleep in her crib, though."

"Good. We get to keep sleeping."

Charlotte couldn't help but giggle, leaning over Gustave to kiss her husband's cheek. "You're cute."

"Thank you. I do try," Erik replied, his eyes still closed.

"Go back to sleep, my dear," Charlotte said softly.

Erik rolled over with a sigh, but frowned a bit when he noticed Gustave laying beside him. "There's a third person in this bed now," he remarked.

"So you've noticed," Charlotte replied with a chuckle.

"How did you sleep, Gustave? You seemed comfortable last night on the floor," Erik said, moving his hand to brush the stray hair out of the boy's face. "Though I can't imagine your legs feel very good right about now."

Gustave merely moaned in reply, shoving his face in the pillow under his head.

"He's very tired," Charlotte chuckled, kissing the boy's cheek.

"I can tell," Erik said as he smoothed down his son's hair. "I think it was very sweet, though. You're a wonderful big brother."

Gustave smiled slightly, but made no verbal response in favor of keeping his eyes closed.

"I'm going to go downstairs and make breakfast, alright?" Charlotte said softly.

Erik nodded. "I'll just stay with him until he gets back to sleep," he replied, running his fingers through Gustave's hair as he started to hum softly.

Charlotte nodded and gave him a quick kiss before fetching her robe once more and making her way down to the kitchen. "Good morning, Papa."

"Good morning, dear. How did you sleep?" Nadir asked, giving her cheek a kiss as she walked in.

"Not fantastically. The baby kept kicking. God, it's like there's two of them."

Nadir chuckled. "God, if it's twins. Erik might have a heart attack," he said.

"Oh, no. That is not happening," Charlotte chuckled. "Trust me, it's not twins."

"No? Is that your maternal instincts telling you that? Because right now, dare I say it will definitely be twins," Nadir said with a quiet laugh. "And in that case, I would have no advice to offer whatsoever."

"It is maternal instincts, yes," Charlotte nodded. "It's not twins, believe me."

"Okay, I'll trust you," Nadir replied, giving his daughter a smile. "Anyhow, if this little one is this active now, I fear for what you'll have to cope with it the coming months."

"I do too. Fortunately, Angelina didn't get super active until later in the pregnancy, but it hurt worse because she kicked my spine a lot."

"Oh, give it a few months. They all get to that point. I know my son did."

"Don't remind me," Charlotte sighed. "It bloody hurts, but I can't tell Erik or else he'll put me on bed rest."

"Oh, certainly. You'll be in that bed until you give birth if you say a word.

"Precisely," Charlotte said with a chuckle. "Well, I think I'm going to start breakfast. What do you want to have?"

"If you have what you need for crΓͺpes, I'll have one or two if they aren't too much work."

"Of course it's not too much trouble," Charlotte smiled, setting out the needed ingredients.

"Alright, thank you, my dear," Nadir said with a nod. "Is your husband not awake yet?"

"He's awake, but he's still in bed with Gustave," Charlotte nodded. "Poor boy slept on the floor of his sister's room."

"All night? Do his feet still work?"

"Well, he could stand, so I believe so," Charlotte chuckled as she set her pan on the stove. "Angelina fell asleep while he was reading to her last night, and I think it was sweet that he stayed with her."

"And you didn't move them because Angelina would wake up and cry forever. Understood," Nadir said with a nod.

"Precisely," Charlotte smiled. "But both slept soundly all night. It was adorable."

"Well, I would think so. Considering how Erik views himself and what he does look like, he makes beautiful children," Nadir said with a laugh.

Charlotte couldn't help but laugh. "He really does. Although, my sister shares part of the praise for Gustave."

"That she does. Even still, his genetics played a big role in that boy. It's impressive, almost."

"Yes, it really is. Gustave even...well, you can't tell Erik, but the right side of Gustave's face is slightly down turned."

Nadir sighed. "I thought I had noticed something, but never truly got a chance to look hard enough to confirm that," he said softly.

"I've known for quite some time, but I haven't said anything. It would break Erik's heart," Charlotte nodded.

"While I am surprised that he hasn't noticed with his remarkable attention to detail, keep that to yourself. He doesn't need another reason to hate who he is."

"No, certainly not. He still feels bad about Angelina."

Nadir sighed, folding his arms on to of the table. "That man. He can't take it all. I fear for his heart sometimes," he said quietly.

"I do too," Charlotte admitted. "I try to keep him from worrying for that reason."

"Which is why it's so good for him to have moments of peace like this with Gustave. It puts his mind at ease for a few moments."

"That's precisely why I'm not dragging him out of bed right now," Charlotte chuckled.

Nadir smiled back at her. "Good idea, though he's probably fallen back to sleep. I'll go check on them and then see if Angelina is awake," he said.

"Perfect. Breakfast will be ready by the time you're down. Thank you."

"My pleasure." Nadir made his way upstairs and slowly opened the door to the master bedroom, smiling at what he saw - Gustave was cuddled up to his father's chest, while Erik had his arm wrapped around the boy to keep him close. Quietly, Nadir crept into the bedroom and pulled the sheets up around them before he snuck out again and into the nursery, where he found Angelina awake, but content in her crib. "Hello, little one. It's Grandpa," he said softly.

"Gam-pa," Angelina grinned, reaching toward him.

"Shall we go downstairs? Papa and Gustave are still asleep, but your Mama is awake and is making us breakfast," Nadir said as he lifted her into his arms.

Angelina nodded in reply, wrapping her arms around his neck.

Nadir smiled, pressing a kiss to her cheek before he walked downstairs and into the kitchen with her. "The boys are still fast asleep, but this little one was wide awake," he reported.

"It looks like it's just the three of us for breakfast, then," Charlotte smiled. "Good morning, Angel."

"Mama," she said with a little wave before she rested her head on Nadir's shoulder again.

"How precious," Charlotte chuckled. "Are you hungry?"

"Food," Angelina replied, smiling back at her mother.

"Well, there you are. A request has been made," Nadir said with a laugh.

"Now, if only we could teach her to actually say 'hungry'," Charlotte giggled. "Food is coming right up, Angelina."

Nadir laughed as his granddaughter clapped while he set her down in her high chair. "Someone's excited," he chuckled.

Charlotte kissed the top of her daughter's head. "So precious."

"Your child is adorable, Charlotte, that much is true."

"Thank you," she replied with a smile. "I love the fact that she's so social and that she loves being with Gustave."

"Yes, those two are practically joined at the hip, considering they're just half-siblings," Nadir said.

"I know. I think it's wonderful that they love each other so much."

"Yes, I would think it would put a parent at ease that their children get along," he chuckled.

"Oh, yes. It certainly does," Charlotte nodded.

β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”

Charlotte glanced up at the clock on the wall as she put her dirty plate in the sink. "Those boys really need to wake up."

"They do. Should we send Angelina up to do it?" Nadir asked. "Erik will be least grumpy with her."

"I say so, yes. She has success with that," Charlotte nodded. "And if it doesn't work, I can just throw myself down the stairs and hope the crash wakes him. Injuries are just a minor detail, I'm a good clotter."

"Charlotte, my god. Didn't you say you don't want to put more stress on his heart?" Nadir asked with a laugh.

"That is a good point," Charlotte chuckled. "Let's try sending Angelina first."

"Agreed. Do you want to take her upstairs?"

"Sure," Charlotte smiled, lifting Angelina into her arms. "Come on, darling. We're going to go wake Papa."

"Papa?" she asked, making the same confused expression as her father when she looked up at Charlotte.

"Yes, my darling," her mother chuckled, kissing the girl's cheek. "Come on, dear. Let's go."

"Papa," Angelina replied with a grin.

Charlotte couldn't help but giggle quietly to herself as she brought her daughter upstairs and into the bedroom. Very carefully, she set Angelina on the bed, then went to stand in the doorway.

Angelina crawled over to her father, setting her hands on his chest. "Papa," she said quietly.

Erik stirred a moment later, opening his eyes and smiling at her. "Hello," he said quietly.

"Papa up," Angelina smiled.

Erik shook his head and wrapped his arm around his daughter. "No. Papa's going to sleep more," he replied as he closed his eyes again.

"Okay," Angelina said softly, curling up on his chest.

Charlotte sighed as she watched her daughter close her eyes. "Well, that plan failed," she mumbled as she turned and walked back down the stairs

"Where's your husband?" Nadir chuckled.

Charlotte gave a sigh. "Still asleep."

"Where's your daughter? You lost her too?"

"She curled up on her father's chest. It's cute, but not exactly what I wanted to accomplish. Throwing myself down the stairs is looking better and better."

"Charlotte, no," Nadir said with a laugh. "You may as well just let them rest at this point."

"It's eleven. He's not going to sleep tonight."

"When has your husband's sleep schedule ever been normal?"

"That's very true," Charlotte nodded. "Well, either way, he's not getting coffee. Caffeine will only keep him awake."

"He won't be pleased, you know," Nadir pointed out.

"I'm not exactly jumping for joy either."

"It will be fine. Your boys need their rest."

"Yes, but now Angelina is sleeping too, which means she'll be cranky when I eventually wake her up," Charlotte sighed.

Nadir threw up his hands. "Darling, I don't know what to tell you," he chuckled.

"Well, I'm going to let you deal with all that. I have an art show. I have to go change and the head off," Charlotte nodded.

"You're leaving me alone to deal with them?" Nadir asked.

"Yes, indeed," Charlotte chuckled. "Have fun."

Nadir rolled his eyes, but gave her a kiss on the cheek. "Yes, I will. All the best at your show."

"Thank you."

β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”

"Hello, Papa," Charlotte smiled. "How are Angelina and the boys?"

"Finally awake. I didn't give Erik his coffee, so he's conscious but still not quite awake yet. Angelina was a bit fussy too. But Gustave is just fine," her father replied with a smile as he set his book next to him on the sofa.

"Well, we should have woken them up earlier," Charlotte chuckled. "Oh, well. Where's Erik now?"

"I think he went up to his study. He was playing his violin earlier, but he's gone quiet."

"He probably fell asleep at his desk," Charlotte giggled. "I'll check." With a smile, she turned on her heel and left the parlor, heading upstairs and knocking on the door to her husband's study.

It took a moment, but the door eventually opened and Erik smiled at her, running his fingers through his hair in an attempt to tame it. "Hello," he said. "Welcome home."

"Thank you," Charlotte chuckled. "You're still tired, aren't you?"

"I am, yes."

Charlotte laughed softly. "I can tell. Have you eaten?"

Erik nodded. "I had breakfast, but I've been up here trying to compose a bit," he explained.

"How is that going?" Charlotte smiled.

"It's...going," Erik said with a sigh. "That's why my hair is such a mess."

"I think the fact that you just woke up not too long ago also has something to do with your hair," Charlotte giggled.

"That might play into it too, yes," he chuckled.

Charlotte kissed his cheek. "How did you sleep?"

"Once we actually got to sleep, I slept very well, which I'm sure you observed, given how late I slept in."

Charlotte nodded. "I tried sending Angelina in to wake you up, but it backfired."

"That it did. She got comfortable very quickly," Erik said with a smile.

"It was quite adorable," Charlotte admitted, chucking quietly as she kissed his cheek. "Do you want coffee?"

"Nadir said I wasn't allowed coffee," Erik mumbled.

"I tried to get a cup when he wasn't looking, but it didn't go as planned."

"Oh? What happened?"

"Angelina crawled in and gave me away. Nadir wasn't far behind and he gave me that glare...you know which one I mean."

"Yes, I do," Charlotte giggled. "I told him not to give you coffee, but I've changed my mind."

"Thank you," Erik said, giving her a kiss. "I doubt I'll sleep tonight, but I'll be fine. I need coffee to keep functioning today."

"But I want you to sleep tonight, dear. That's what's most important."

"I'll get to sleep at some point tonight. Maybe not at the same time that you do."

"Well, I just don't want you to stay up too late," Charlotte said softly, leading him downstairs.

"I'll be fine, love. Don't worry about me," Erik said with a smile.

"Alright," Charlotte chuckled. "Do you want your coffee black?"

"As usual, please," he replied

"Alright," Charlotte nodded, pouring him a cup.

"How was the art show?" Erik asked.

"Quite good," Charlotte smiled. "I sold six paintings."

"That's wonderful," Erik said. "And how are you feeling? How's the baby treating you?"

"I'm feeling alright. The baby kept me up a bit last night, though."

"I know, you mentioned that this morning. You're not in any pain, though, are you?"

"My back hurts a bit, but I'm alright."

Erik nodded. "I can rub your back, if you'd like."

"I think I'll take you up on that," Charlotte nodded, kissing his cheek.

"Good. I'll finish my coffee and give you a massage in the parlor."

"That sounds lovely," Charlotte grinned. "Thank you."

"My pleasure," Erik said with a smile. "I'll probably get back to my composition. I'd like to try and finish it today."

"Perhaps I can help with that," Charlotte nodded. "I like composing with you."

"Yes, I like having you compose with me. It helps to have a second opinion"

"Wonderful," Charlotte grinned.

β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”

Later that day...

"We should think about getting our masquerade costumes ready," Erik said as he joined his family in the parlor, giving them a smile. "Nadir still needs to choose his 'Phantom of the Opera' outfit."

"I was actually about to go to the shops to see if I can find Angelina a blue and white gingham dress," Charlotte smiled.

"Yes, and while you were sleeping this morning, I looked through your closet," Nadir nodded, looking up from his book.

"I see. Well, did anything get your attention? Any particular cloak, suit, mask?" Erik asked.

"I made up my mind on two things. The first is on which suit and cloak I want to wear. The second is that you need more colors other than black in your closet."

Erik rolled his eyes. "So I've been told," he said, glancing over at Charlotte.

His wife simply grinned back at him before asking, "Would you like to come with me to shop for Angelina?"

"Why not? I'm excited to see her in her little Dorothy costume."

"She'll look adorable," Charlotte smiled. "Should we bring her with us?"

"I would think so. Her little opinion is the most important, isn't it?" Erik asked with a smile.

"I would say so, yes," Charlotte nodded as she turned to Gustave, who was on the floor with his sister. "Do you want to come too, dear?"

Gustave shrugged. "I can stay here with Nadir and watch him dress up like Papa," he said.

"That could definitely be fun," Charlotte giggled, kissing his cheek. "Have you picked out you Tin Man costume?"

"Yes! Papa and I went out a few days ago and got everything I need. So I'm just about ready."

"Wonderful," Charlotte nodded, getting up and brushing off her dress. "Come here, Angelina. We're going to the shops."

"Mama," Angelina replied as she crawled away from her brother and over to Charlotte, reaching her arms up to her.

"Hello, darling," Charlotte chuckled, kissing her daughter's cheek. "Are you ready to go pick out your costume?"

Angelina smiled and clapped her hands in response.

"That's what I thought," her mother replied with a nod. "Let's go, shall we?"

"Yes, let's get going," Erik said with a smile, kissing her cheek before he walked with her out to the foyer.

Charlotte smiled and passed the baby to him so that she could wrap her cloak around her shoulders, walking ahead of her husband to the foyer.

"Say goodbye to Grandpa and Gustave before we go," Erik said to his daughter.

"Bye, bye," Angelina said softly.

Erik smiled and walked to the front foyer, grabbing Angelina's little cloak and slipping both of her shoes on before he got into his own and joined Charlotte on the front step. "Shall we go?" he asked.

"Of course," his wife replied with a chuckle, slipping her hand into his as she led him off to the awaiting carriage.

β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”

"So where should we start?" Erik asked, looking around the store at the little dresses hanging on the rack.

"I say we start over there," Charlotte said, pointing to a rack with dresses in Angelina's size.

Erik nodded. "Perfect. Let's go see if we find something she likes. How does that sound, Angelina?" he asked, looking at his daughter.

Angelina simply grinned, wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing his cheek.

"Wonderful. Charlotte, you lead the way. You have a better idea of what we're looking for."

"Alright." Charlotte sent him a smile and led her husband and daughter to the correct area. "I remember seeing a blue and white gingham dress here about two weeks ago."

"Let's hope it's still here," Erik said as he looked at the dresses on the rack in front of him.

"If it's not here, they'll likely have it at Michel's," Charlotte shrugged.

"Good, good." Erik couldn't help but chuckle as Angelina reached towards a pink dress hanging on the rack. "You like that one, do you?"

"Pink!" Angelina grinned.

"I think it's safe to say that she found one she likes," Erik said.

"I say we get both," Charlotte nodded, pulling the blue and white gingham dress from the rack. "I found it!"

"Oh good! It's perfect," Erik replied with a smile. "Angelina, what do you think?"

"Pi-ty," Angelina grinned.

"It is, isn't it? And you're going to look so pretty wearing it," Erik replied, kissing his daughter's cheek. "So is that all we need? Or are there more parts to this costume we still need to find?"

"The silver shoes and a ribbon to go in her hair," Charlotte said with a nod."Let's go find them, then, so we can put together our little Dorothy."

"The shoes should be over there," Charlotte nodded. "I'll have to ask about the ribbon."

"I can go get the shoes while you ask," Erik said.

"Can I trust you?" Charlotte asked, giving her husband a teasing frown. "You won't get black shoes?"

Erik rolled his eyes. "No, I won't get black. I know what Dorothy's outfit is supposed to look like," he said.

"Good. Go ahead," Charlotte giggled, turning to approach a sales clerk.

Erik smiled and walked to the section that Charlotte had directed him to. "Let's find you some little shoes, shall we, Angelina?" he asked.

"Excuse me, Monsieur," a sales clerk said as she approached. "Can I help you?"

"I'm just looking for a pair of shoes for my daughter," Erik replied. "A pair of silver ones, but to be honest, I'm not entirely sure where to start."

"Well, I can certainly help," the woman smiled. "I'm Marie, by the way. And who's this precious little thing?"

"Thank you, Mademoiselle. I'm Erik, and this is Angelina." Erik looked at his daughter and smiled. "Say hello, my dear."

"Hi," Angelina said softly.

"Hello," Marie chuckled. "Well, if you'll follow me, I can show you to a pair of silver shoes, which I think will be perfect."

"Oh, thank you. We have a masquerade ball to go to and I want her costume to be perfect if I can help it," Erik said as he followed the clerk.

"Ah, I see," Marie smiled, pulling a box off of a shelf. "I think these will be just what you're looking for."

When she opened the box, Erik quickly nodded as he looked at the shoes - silver and sparkly with a buckle over the top of the foot. "Perfect. As long as they fit, I think those are the ones."

"Would you like to have her try them on?"

"Yes, I would," Erik said, sitting Angelina down on a nearby stool and slipping off the shoes she was wearing.

Marie took the silver shoes out of the box and slipped one onto Angelina's foot. "It's a perfect fit."

"Seems like it," Erik said, looking up at Angelina. "Do you like them, my angel?"

"Pi-ty," Angelina replied softly.

"That's what I thought." Erik looked at Marie and gave her a smile. "Thank you, Mademoiselle, for your help."

"You're very welcome," Marie nodded. "Say, do you know where a good Italian restaurant would be? I just moved here."

"There's a lovely one just a few blocks down from here, actually."

"Really? Perhaps we could go together sometime," Marie smiled, biting her lip ever so slightly.

Erik frowned and laughed quietly. "I'm sorry?" he asked

"Perhaps we could go to dinner. I've always found Italian food to be rather romantic, don't you think?"

"I mean, I can understand that thought, yes, but...why would I go with you?"

"Because I think it could be fun," Marie nodded. "Something tells me that with this little angel, you don't get out much."

"Mademoiselle, I'm sorry, I'm not going to go to dinner with you," Erik said slowly.

"Oh? And why not?" Marie chuckled. "Because I think you want to."

"I don't, actually. And as for why..." Erik trailed off and raised his left hand to show off the gold ring on his finger. "I'm married."

"Ah, I see," Marie nodded. "My mistake."

Erik managed to wipe the frown from his face. "It's alright," he said, still a bit confused about what had just happened. "I'm flattered, but...no, I'm sorry."

"Thank you for your help today, though. And you should still try that restaurant sometime, if you get a chance. It really is lovely."

"I will, thank you," Marie smiled. "Have a good day, Monsieur. You can pay at the desk over there."

Erik nodded. "Thank you. I believe my wife is over there as well, so I'll just go meet her," he said.

"Meet who?" He heard Charlotte ask from over his shoulder.

"Meet you. At the front desk for us to pay," Erik replied, turning to face his wife. "Sorry, this is Marie. She was just making sure I know where to go to pay for these little shoes for Angelina."

"Oh, you found shoes!" Charlotte grinned. "Let's see."

Erik shifted to the side to let Charlotte inspect the silver slippers. "I quite like them, and so does Angelina," he explained.

"They're pretty," Charlotte smiled. "Oh, and I found the ribbon. Let's pay."

Erik nodded, changing Angelina's shoes and handing the shoe box to Charlotte. He then looked to Marie and gave her a small smile as he picked Angelina up. "Thank you again," he said.

"You're welcome," Marie nodded. "Enjoy your shoes."

Erik nodded back at her before he turned to walk towards the front counter. "She was nice. Very helpful," he said as Charlotte walked beside him.

"I'm sure she was," Charlotte nodded, setting the items they wished to purchase on the desk.

Erik frowned a little at the change in her mood, but decided to withhold any questions. "You found the ribbon you wanted?" he asked.

"I did," Charlotte replied simply as another woman came to cash them out.

"So that's all we need for her costume, then?"

"Mhm," Charlotte hummed, waiting as the woman behind the counter put their things in a bag.

Erik sighed, waiting until they had walked out of the store to open his mouth again. "Love, what's wrong?" he asked. "You've gone quiet."

"Why don't you ask your new sweetheart?" Charlotte frowned, looked the opposite way.

"What? What on earth are you talking about?"

"Oh, you think I didn't notice that you and that sales clerk were getting friendly?"

"We weren't!" Erik exclaimed, taking Charlotte by the arm. "She was helping me and...she ended up flirting at me, not with me."

"A likely story," Charlotte scoffed. "I shouldn't have expected you to admit to it."

"Charlotte, darling, I love you. Why would I ever seek the attention of another woman?" Erik asked quietly.

"How should I know? I've never been good enough for anyone. I was a fool to think I'd be good enough for you," Charlotte said, her voice breaking.

"My god, Charlotte, no." Erik sighed and cupped her face with his free hand.Β

"I love you. You are the most perfect woman on this earth! You are more than I could ever deserve. You are my wife...the mother of my children," he said, moving his hand from her face to rest on her stomach. "You are more than enough, more than I will ever be worthy of."

Charlotte embraced him tightly. "I'm...I'm sorry. I just...I couldn't bare the thought of losing you."

"It's alright, love. Don't apologize. It was just a misunderstanding," Erik whispered, kissing the top of her head.

"Thank you for being so understanding," Charlotte sighed. "Pregnancy scrambles my brain a bit."

Erik smiled. "Don't you worry about it. It's perfectly fine," he replied. "You are the only woman I ever want to have that sort of love from, alright? I adore you."

"Thank you. I adore you too," Charlotte smiled, kissing his cheek. "Can we go home and forget this?"

"Of course. I've already forgotten," he said with a wink.

"I'm sorry, what were we talking about?" Charlotte giggled. "Come on, let's go."
