HAILEY STOOD AT the entrance of her high school, her eyes wanderings over the swarm of people rushing inside. Her eyes gleamed as she saw a redhead running towards her with a huge grin from the crowd.

"Hail, this school is massive!" Aelia exclaimed, widening her eyes.

"It sure is." Hailey snickered as they made their way inside the building.

Hailey made her aware of the types of kids that go here and the teachers along with all the spicy gossips she encountered being here. This was very new to Aelia as she didn't see a high school so huge and stuffed with children back in her hometown.

This was the best first day Hailey ever had — she wasn't crying alone in the bathroom. She never had any good friends to hang with and always longed a company.

They took their timetables, having barely two classes in common - they both parted. For Hailey the day went by like a swirl of wind — or maybe she didn't pay attention to any of it.

By the time it was English class - the one they had common, Aelia made a couple of acquaintances. For Aelia it was different — she was bubbly and outgoing, it wasn't a big deal to her for making many friends.

Hailey sat a few seats ahead of Aelia on the only vacant spots. She turned her head back to see Aelia being surrounded by a couple of girls as they chatted and laughed. Hailey felt a familiar sting in her chest as she fixated her eyes back on the books in front of her, gulping back the desperate tears.

It was the same every time - people left her for other's company.

The teacher arrived and started the class but Hailey's mind was far away from the topic, it was around her. Suddenly she felt her phone buzz, sneaking a glance down at it she swiped the screen and opened the text.

Aelia: You look cute, Hail...

Hailey didn't know how to respond to but her body immediately did — making her cheeks glow while her stomach flipped in excitement.

Me: that was so random.

Aelia: I can see u smile.

Aelia: That's the point. You look beautiful when you smile.

Hailey looked up from the screen and the moment she turned, Aelia looked up from the phone — making their eyes meet again. They both grinned ear to ear, Hailey could feel the hair on her arms stand up while Aelia bit her bottom lip, her hazel orbs never leaving the sight of Hailey.

They both felt something — of which they couldn't put words in.

"Miss Cooper and miss Sanders, what's so funny? Mind sharing it with the class?" The voice of the teacher bloomed as they instantly focused back, a smile still playing on their faces.

After the school ended they both walked side to side as they quietly made their way to the exit.

"You owe me a coffee," Hailey said, remembering the coffee she wasted the day before.

"You owe me an iced tea too," Aelia replied with a sly grin as her heart started beating louder and louder.

"See you at Josie's? At Six?"

"A date?" Aelia uttered before regretting it as she hesitantly added, "Or we can just study—"

"A date it is, sunshine."
