upon opening your door you were met with a tight embrace. more precisely, konoha's embrace. you let out a soft chuckle, gladly returning the hug. your embrace provided warmth to the boy. he let out a sigh of content, wishing he could engrave the feeling of your arms wrapped around him into his skin.

if only you knew.

"hi," you smiled at him,

"missed me that much?" he smirked playfully at you, earning a slap to his shoulder in return.

"shut up and get in," you rolled your eyes at him, walking to your room. he followed you shortly after, closing the door behind him.

"your parents are still at work?"

"yep, just as usual." plopping yourself on your bed, you made space for him, arms stretched out wide, "c' mere, idiot."

"gladly," he grinned cheekily, laying beside you, engulfing you in his arms. he felt you relax in his hold, further burying your face in his chest.

"is something wrong?"

"just felt a bit lonely," your voice muffled into his shirt, he frowned.

as a result of being your friend since the two of you were in diapers, he knew very well that your parents were barely ever home, always returning around 1 or 2 in the morning, only to leave again at 7 am.

it didn't trouble you at first, even from a young age your parents always allowed you stay at the konoha's house when they were absent for business trips.

now that you're older, your parents trust you enough to stay at home alone. subsequently, you'd find yourself asking the boy for company a lot, so it was often that he'd come over, or sometimes even stay the night.

"tell me about it," you groaned, thinking back at the stranger you texted. "stayed up the whole night for it."

stretching your limbs, you felt a piece of paper brush against your arm, startling you in the process. you quickly snatched the note, eyes scanning for whoever wrote it. unsurprisingly, the note was from konoha. you scoffed upon reading the note.

taking a glimpse at the clock on your desk, you sighed.

'damn it, i woke up late...' 

with groggy eyes and a messy head of hair, you carried on with your usual morning routine, changing into a black shirt and training pants afterward.

you wandered to your kitchen, eyes widening at the sight of your mom casually sitting at the dining table.

in front of her sat her laptop, phone, and multiple empty mugs which you assumed were used for caffeine. she appeared to be completely engrossed in her work, so much so that she failed to notice your entry.

"mom? you're not going to work?" you walked over to her, standing next to where she was seated.

"oh! y/n, good morning." she kept her eyes on the device, the sound of clicking from her keyboard filled the small room. "i forgot to tell you earlier but i'm leaving for a business trip tomorrow morning, my boss told me to stay at home and take a break before the trip."

"what? for how long are you gonna be gone?" you studied the mugs that laid scattered around the table. there were bags under her eyes, it was clear that she was worn out. although her boss gave her a day off to rest, she definitely wasn't taking a break.

"a few days. you can stay with the konoha's if you want, though i know you'll be fine on your own. do whatever you want, kid." she finally turned to face you, shooting a tired smile.

"oh," you bit your lip, eyes averting to the floor in disappointment. "alright..."

your mom caught sight of it, sighing as she pursed her lips.

"i'm sorry, i know you don't like being alone all the time."

"no, it's fine. i'm fine." you shook your head, changing the topic. "i'm gonna go take a walk, see you later."
