CHAPTER FOURTEEN
mystic falls high
"MYSTIC FALLS, WE GOT CLAWS." CHEERLEADERS chanted as the six Salvatore students filed out of the bus. The students from Mystic Falls High turned to look at them as they walked by. The cheerleaders walked away looking disgusted.
Katelyn saw Kyle, the kid she punched, looking over at Landon and frowned. Landon stared back at him before walking fast to keep up with the group, successfully running into Lizzie.
"I was making an entrance, mophead." Lizzie said to Landon snarkily.
"Sorry. I just had a... a flashback to my freshman year here." Landon said as he and Lizzie joined the group.
"Girls are missing, so get your wedgie trauma in check or leave." Lizzie told him.
"He's fine now." Hope sighed.
"Let it go." Katelyn added.
Lizzie dropped it and looked at the group. "Okay, here's the deal. Landon, you talk to any of the people you still know from when you went here. Hope, you try to not deliberately alienate the entire student body while the rest of us save the world."
Hope crossed her arms. "This isn't a contest, Lizzie."
"You're right." Lizzie said, nodding. "It's a mission for a hero and her league of... whatevers."
"Yeah." Kaleb scoffed. "Screw that. I work alone."
Lizzie ignored him and looked at MG as he and Katelyn locked eyes. A silent understanding passed through them. "MG, I need your compulsion skills. Would you like to be the Robin to my Batwoman?"
"Actually, Batwoman doesn't have a Robin..." He trailed as he saw Katelyn just shaking her head as if saying to 'just go with it'.
"Metaphor, nerd. Let's go, Okay." Lizzie said patting him on the chest.
The two walked away and the other three looked between each other before Landon looked off into the distance. A minute later, Katelyn got a call and she took her phone out of her pocket.
She frowned when she saw Josie's contact come up. She answered and put her phone up to her ear. "Hello?"
"Rafael and Jed are high on testosterone. What do I do?" She asked.
"Woah, hey. Do not get in the middle of two werewolves, Jo. Especially an Alpha and a pack member. Rafael can fight his own shit. Let him sort it out." Katelyn said. Hope looked over at her with a 'what the hell?' look. Landon looked over when he heard Raf's name.
"But—"
"No, Josie. Rafael doesn't know how to control himself yet. He may not want to hurt you but he could if he loses control." Katelyn said sternly. "He's not used to Jed being his Alpha because I am his just like I am Landon's. It's weird for him."
"Okay." She sighed. The call ended and Katelyn put her phone away.
Hope and Landon looked at her for an explanation. She sighed. "Raf isn't used to Jed being his Alpha. I think Rafi and Josie were talking or something and Jed ordered him to do something- she didn't make that clear. It's fine. Let's do this, okay?"
"If he hurts her—"
"You can punch him." Katelyn interrupted Hope. "But for now, we can't do anything about it."
The two nod and they journey into the school with Landon showing them around. They get to a hallway that's filled with older-looking kids.
"This is the senior hallway, where I spent much of my formative years stuffed in every locker... except this one." He touched the fourth locker before he kept walking. "That one doesn't open. On your left, you'll find the bathroom. It's where I had my first kiss with a toilet."
Katelyn snickered as Hope stopped him. "I'm sorry. Is the fact that I'm not openly hostile to you make it seem like we're back to being friends?" Hope asked. She kept walking as Landon looked at Katelyn who shrugged.
"Uh, sorry. Just, I was going for effortlessly natural." He said as the two followed after the auburn-haired girl. "But this is all just making me really nervous. Like, the school and seeing Connor and being with you—"
"Shouldn't you be talking to anyone you know?" Hope interrupted.
"That's easier said than done. There is no way Dana's clique is talking to me unless you have a spell that will make me retroactively cool."
"Well, I'll talk to them, then." Katelyn said.
"No!" Hope said just as Landon said:
"It's even worse for you. Trust me. Especially since you punched Kyle in the face." He looked between the two. "Trust me. You have no idea how human high schools work. You're the new girls. You might as well be radioactive."
Three cheerleaders walked up to the three. One of them looked at Katelyn and Hope. "I'm sorry. You look traumatized. Is this loser bothering you?" She asked them.
"He keeps trying to get us to bus his mixtape." Hope replied with an incredulous expression.
The girl scoffed. "Gross. Well, we're going to lunch. You two hungry?"
Katelyn tilted her head. "Famished."
Katelyn and Hope spun on their heel and followed the girl to the cafeteria with the other two girls right behind them.

Katelyn found Lizzie and MG in the gym as everyone was leaving. MG and Lizzie were still in the middle of the room, getting up.
"What's with the performance anxiety?" Lizzie asked the vampire.
"I think you're distracting me." MG replied and Katelyn narrowed her eyes from where she was standing a couple of feet behind Lizzie. The younger blonde looked down at herself.
"I'm wearing polyester." She said, confused.
"And you're totally pulling it off." MG said, looking at her legs. Katelyn growled softly and MG looked behind Lizzie and caught her eyes. He cleared his throat. "Oh, hey, Kate."
Lizzie turned around and smiled slightly when she saw the tribrid. Katelyn gave them a small wave before her phone rang. She took it out of her pocket.
"Is that the school phone?" Lizzie asked her and she shook her head.
She answered and put it up to her ear. "Hello?"
"I need to talk to everyone." Alaric said making Katelyn frown.
"We split up." Katelyn said wincing.
"I told you to work together." Alaric reprimanded as Katelyn put him on speaker. "Lizzie!"
"In order to conquer, we had to divide, Daddy." Lizzie told him. "So looks like you're gonna have to trust your own gene pool for once. Sorry to disappoint."
"Look, I'm about to you three things, all equally horrifying, so I need you to keep your cool. Can you both do that?" He asked. The other two nodded.
"Yeah, we can, Alaric. MG's here too." Katelyn told him.
"Okay. One: Dana is dead. Two: A vampire killed her. Three: I just told the Sheriff that we had nothing to do with it so I need to know right now that I am right. Have any of you heard anything about the vampires at our school feeding?"
Katelyn looked at MG before looking at the phone.
"No." Lizzie said.
"Nah." MG added. He looked at Katelyn.
"Katelyn?" Alaric asked.
Katelyn took it off of speaker and put it up to her ear. "Look, what if it wasn't one of our vampires?" She asked as she walked a bit away from them making the siphoner and vampire frown.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean... the reason why you were acting so weird... it's because you got a message didn't you?"
"I— yeah." He sighed.
"They don't just collect werewolves Alaric. They use my blood to create Hybrids and vampires." She said quietly. "What if this is a warning?"
He was quiet for a moment. "I don't know. But, hey, your protected, okay? You have your sister, you have the girls... you have me. We'll fight to protect you and keep you safe. You won't get taken away again."
There was a crunch in the background and footsteps. "Alaric?" Katelyn asked. Silence. "Ric?!" The call ended. She stared at the phone before shoving it back in her pocket. She turned around and pointed at MG. "We need to have a talk."
"How did you even find out?" MG asked her.
"I have amazing hearing, vamp. Also, I could smell the blood on him." Katelyn replied.
"Wait, who?" Lizzie asked, looking between the two and crossing her arms.
"Kaleb." They both replied.
AN: Oh, was Katelyn jealous?? Also, I was thinking about adding another love interest for both Lizzie and Katelyn and maybe— maybe making the three a couple. I don't know. What do you guys think? Don't forget to vote and comment!
