The month leading up to Johnny's enrollment at Hogwarts was filled with excitement and anticipation. Johnny read his course books, immersing himself in the world of magic. From the history of magic to the intricacies of potion-making, he absorbed every word, eager to begin his magical education.
Though Johnny couldn't yet use his wand until he arrived at Hogwarts, he practiced the wand movements in front of the mirror, imagining the spells and charms he would soon be able to perform. His confidence grew with each flick and swish, as he visualised himself mastering the magical arts.
Luca fully supported his son's magical journey, and Caterina eagerly helped Johnny learn. Caterina shared in his excitement, even if she couldn't attend Hogwarts herself. She eagerly listened to Johnny's descriptions of the magical world, asking questions and offering words of encouragement.
Together, Luca, Caterina, and Johnny prepared for the day of departure. They shopped for last minute school supplies, ensuring that Johnny had everything he needed, from robes to cauldrons. Caterina, although disappointed that she couldn't accompany Johnny to Hogwarts, helped him organise his belongings and shared stories of her own experiences at Muggle school.
Finally, the day of departure arrived, and the Scaletta family found themselves at King's Cross Station, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of travelers. Johnny's heart raced with a mix of nerves and excitement as they made their way towards Platform 9¾.
"Take care of yourself, Johnny," Caterina said, her voice filled with both pride and a touch of longing. She swept down and kissed his forehead, ruffling his hair.
Johnny nodded, appreciating his sister's words. "I'll write to you and tell you all about Hogwarts."
Caterina hugged Johnny tightly, holding back tears. "I'll be eagerly waiting for your letters. Remember to have fun and make friends."
Johnny left his family, crossing the barrier between platforms 9 and 10. Johnny was in awe at Platform 9¾. Students like himself were hugging their parents goodbye, owls flew above their heads, hooting back and forth.
As the train whistle blew, signaling the imminent departure, Johnny took a deep breath, the weight of the unknown future settling upon his shoulders. With a confident smile, he stepped onto the train, his trunk filled with books and supplies.
As Johnny settled into the compartment, his heart still racing from the excitement of boarding the Hogwarts Express, he couldn't help but feel a slight twinge of nervousness. The train began to move, and he gazed out the window, watching as the scenery blurred past. Thoughts swirled in his mind, wondering what his time at Hogwarts would be like, especially considering his Muggle-born status.
Lost in his thoughts, Johnny was startled when the compartment door slid open. Two girls entered, both wearing the traditional Hogwarts robes. The blonde girl, had an air of confidence about her, while the black-haired girl, seemed more mischievous. They exchanged a quick glance before their eyes fell on Johnny.
"Hello," the blonde greeted, her voice polite but curious. "Is this compartment taken?"
Johnny shook his head, his nerves making it difficult to find his voice. "No, it's... it's empty. You can sit here if you want."
"Thanks," The black haired girl chimed in, flashing a friendly smile. "I'm Pansy Parkinson, by the way, and this is Daphne Greengrass."
Daphne nodded in acknowledgment, her green eyes studying Johnny. "And what's your name?"
Johnny hesitated for a moment, unsure of how they would react. He read about the Pureblood families and Greengrass and Parkinson had prominent chapters. But he knew that honesty was the best policy. "I'm Johnny Scaletta, I'm Muggle-Born" he replied softly, his voice tinged with nervousness.
The two girls exchanged a surprised glance, their expressions momentarily frozen. Johnny felt a knot forming in his stomach, fearing their reaction to his Muggle-born status. But to his surprise, their shocked expressions quickly transformed into a smile.
Daphne spoke first, her voice filled with sincerity. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Johnny," Johnny's jaw dropped and both girls laughed. "Don't worry, Pansy and I don't share the same sentiments as our families."
Pansy nodded in agreement, her mischievous smile replaced by a warm one. "You'll find that there are many students at Hogwarts who come from different backgrounds. Besides, if it wasn't for the Muggles, Pureblood's would've died out long ago."
Relief flooded over Johnny, washing away his fears and doubts.
"Thank you," Johnny said, his voice filled with gratitude. "I'm glad to have met you both."
Daphne and Pansy smiled warmly, their acceptance radiating through their eyes.
As the Hogwarts Express sped through the English countryside, the conversation in the compartment shifted to the topic of Hogwarts Houses. Daphne and Pansy, both confident in their family legacies, expressed their certainty of being sorted into Slytherin.
Daphne leaned forward, her eyes filled with curiosity. "So, Johnny, have you thought about which House you might end up in?"
Johnny pondered the question for a moment, his brows furrowing as he considered his options. "I've always been quite smart, so I think I might be a good fit for Ravenclaw," he replied, a hint of certainly in his voice.
The girls nodded, understanding his reasoning. "That makes sense," Pansy remarked, a smirk forming on her lips. "It seems like Ravenclaw would be lucky to have you."
Johnny let out a nervous chuckle, a red tint to his cheeks. "I guess we'll find out soon enough."
Daphne's gaze turned mischievous as she leaned back in her seat. "Well, at least we know we won't be in Gryffindor," she said with a sigh of relief.
Pansy nodded in agreement, a playful smirk tugging at her lips. "Yes, Gryffindor seems a bit too... adventurous for our taste."
Johnny couldn't help but chuckle at their shared sentiment. "Well, it's good to know we're all on the same page."
"Plus," Pansy added as a group of Gryffindor's passed their compartment, laughing loudly and all shouting over each other. She threw them a dirty look. "None of us are cocky gits."
