01 | Brianna and the beginning.

"Did you keep the extra warm duvets? and what about your medicines?" grandma asked for the hundredth time.

"Grams... I've checked everything. Don't worry, I'm a grown-up now." I chuckled, looking into the mirror and applying a thick layer of strawberry gloss on my usual chapped lips.

"Yeah, I know but-"

"No buts. I'm not like Raven, who always forgets her homework at home on the last day of submission. " I teased, peeking back at the girl with short dirty blonde hair through the rear-view mirror.

Hearing her name, she looked up from her mobile phone and stuck out her tongue at me before focusing back on the phone. I chuckled at her silliness and grams just shook her head, keeping her eyes on the road.

I let out a small sigh and looked out of the window, the symmetrical rows of gorgeous daffodils and familiar brown brick walls of my school caught my attention – making me realized we reached. Grams took a right turn and pulled up on the side, just outside the entrance.

"Okay, I hope your mother has already talked to you about-"

"Grams... No!" I warned her before she could complete her sentence.

"Well, just to let you know, I don't want to be a great grandmother yet, like that word sounds so old-"

"Grams! Will you stop?" I whined burying my face into my palms with embarrassment.

Now I've seen it all, my sixty-year-old grandma talking to me about sex education was the last thing I wanted to hear.

"Just putting it out there sweetie. Your dad didn't pay attention to me when he was going on his senior trip," she clicked her tongue and shrugged, "look at you now, going on yours."

She is checking out the 'everything I don't wanna hear' list in a single car ride. Especially the reminder that I was in an accident on a school trip when mom was barely eighteen.

"Grandma I-" I shook my head with short of words on how to stop her. "Raven is sitting just back there!" I exclaimed pointing to the barely ten-year-old.

"I heard nothing," muttered Raven from the backseat, a smirk plastered on her face while her eyes were still glued to the iPad.

"Okay okay. We'll miss you, take care of yourself." She chuckled and gave me a small kiss on my cheek, leaving behind an imprint of her lipstick like always.

As I rubbed my cheek lightly to remove the imprint, I watched her and smiled. Her short platinum-blonde hair fell neatly around her small face, tucked away with cute little bobby pins. With minimal light makeup and red lipstick, she seemed much younger than she was.

"I'll have the whole room by myself. It's for a short time but with all the m&ms I hid from you, it'll be worth it." Raven beamed from the back seat and I rolled my eyes at her. Did she hide m&ms from me? Oh, this little-

"Aw, little sister. I'll miss you too, now please don't cry." I playfully taunted and it was her turn to roll the eyes.

"Okay girls, enough. Raven, be nice to your elder sister." Grams intervened in our little banter, raising her finger and giving us her not-so-scary 'wided eyes' look.

"Fine... Goodbye, Brianna. Have a safe journey," she said in a mocking voice. I could see her lips hint at a smile and I couldn't help but laugh at her goofiness.

"Who's in for a treat at the McDonald's?" Grams asked.

"Me!" Raven exclaimed jumping up and down excitedly. Still smiling, I turned and got out of the car.

"You sure you don't need help with the bags?" Grandma inquired me again and I nodded.

"I'll manage, give love to mom. See you soon." I waved, before getting out my bags, followed by the small sling one.

I looked around at the crowd of people, eating, talking, and loading their stuff in the busses, all busy within themselves. I tugged back the loose blonde strands of hair that escaped my ponytail behind my ears, I heard the engine of Gram's car rev loudly as she drove off.

I dragged my bag and walked towards the crowd, looking for a girl with jet black hair. Failing, I huffed in annoyance and took out my phone, composing a text to her, when suddenly I felt two chubby arms around me and a smile immediately covered my face.

"Hi, Bri-Bri." Summer squealed, hugging me tightly, I giggled and hugged her back. hugging summer is the best feeling, she's my little teddy bear.

Summer Wilson, she's like a sister to me for as long as I remember. This girl right here taught me the meaning of true friendship and I love her to the moon and back.

"Ooh. Teddy, you're looking finneeee." I playfully winked stretching the last word. She gave a huge proud smile and twirled around giving poses, letting me get a view from each side. I always love her outfits,

"Why, thank you." she brought her hand near her stomach and bowed. She straightened up and grinned proudly, pushing her straight hair behind her shoulder with her fingers.

"But you could use some of my advice..." She shrugged referring to my outfit which was simply an oversized sweater, comfy sweatpants, and sneakers.

"You know how much I love them." I cooed while running my hands up and down the soft woolly fabric. These are my forever to go outfit in winters and fall. They are comfy, keeps me warm, takes no effort, and make me look good enough. What else does one want?

"No shit. That flower vase bruise still hurts sometimes here..." she playfully pouted and rubbed her left arm while I just laughed.

No, I'm not an aggressive person.

But yes, I threw a flower vase at her.

"It was very well deserved. There are still various nights where I miss my teal sweater." I pouted while she rolled her eyes. Yes, she lost my favorite sweater which I lend her. It was of Teal color!

We were interrupted by the shrill echoing of the microphone followed by the deep voice of our sports teacher, requesting everyone to assemble and we obliged.

"Bri, I lost one kg in the last couple of weeks. I think I'm going to lose it all by the beginning of college," she boasted proudly, rubbing her belly as we slowly made our way towards the crowd.

"That's amazing, but babe, I love you the way you are. My little chubby teddy bear." I cooed and she chuckled, showing her cute dimples.

"Good morning students, you all know why we are assembled today, so I'm gonna go straight to the rules of this trip." Mrs. Elena, our sports teacher who was standing on the platform, a bit higher than the ground announced in the microphone, her voice thick with an African accent.

After a twenty minutes long talk about the tent setups, curfews like no alcohol, no sex, and no wandering in the woods after dark, which I know nobody is going to follow, and some other basic things, she finally finished, indicating us to start ascending the bus.

We finally proceeded to settle in the bus. All the guys were helping in loading the luggage, while the girls rushed to the bus to occupy their favorite seats.

Kids.

"Here, Summer, pass it on." I nudged summer, handing her my heavy bag.

"Oh boy, what do you have in this? Your whole wardrobe?" Summer laughed, trying to pick up the bag but failing.

"Well, you're overreacting. It's not that heavy..." I shrugged and lent a hand to help.

"Let me help you girls." A deep voice, thick with British startled me, I turned around to see a tall body hovering over mine.

"Zendal Lowell." I greeted him with an eye roll, he saw me, and the same expression was reflected on his.

"Banana Davis."

"It's Brianna, you jerk," I muttered and he rolled his eyes.

"It's Zander you-" he stopped mid-sentence and rolled his eyes again, "Just hand me your luggage."

"Oh fuck, what's in this? We're not going to settle in the woods, we're coming back by the end of the weekend. Didn't anyone inform you?" Zander snickered as he picked up the bag only to drop it back at the ground while I just huffed.

"I'll save us a seat." Summer smirked, climbing on the bus.

"If you can't pick it, I'll handle it myself. I don't need any kind of favors from you," I said in a stern tone and proceeded to pick up the bag. He rolled his eyes and picked it up before shoving it in the boot.

"Zander, babe could you please-" I heard a loud shrill voice, followed by the clicking of heels towards us.

Oh great, his girlfriend is here.

Mellisa Caldwell, she's the bitch of the school, the girl who sleeps with anyone and everyone to obtain what she wants. She's selfish and heartless, doesn't care about anyone but herself. She bullied me since sophomore, I always try to ignore her comments and I guess I succeed because she really despises me.

"Hello there, Brina." she smiled at me, handing a little cute girly backpack to Zander before leaving a kiss on his cheeks. I wanted to correct her, but ugh. Who cares?

"Mellisa..." I fake smiled at her, internally cursing myself on why am I not on the bus yet.

"What the fuck are you wearing? Your grandma's sweater? It's not even that cold." she giggled pushing her curled blonde hair behind her ears, her annoying voice already stinging my ears.

I ignored her comment and just smiled, Before she could throw more of her bitchy attitude at me, I turned around and climbed the bus. I don't want to start unnecessary drama. Half of my mood is already spoiled because of those two faces.

Now, happy face. No more mood spoils, I'm here to enjoy the best time of my life!

I saw Summer sitting in the middle of the bus, she looked up from her phone and smiled at me as I walked over and took the window seat. She knows how much I love the window seat.

"How can you not love the window seat? God, you're a freak." I chuckled at her and saw Summer taking out a packet of m&m from her bag.

"Hey! At least let the bus start." I pointed as she tore up the packet and shrugged.

"It's for you, I've many sweets and goodies. All for you." She smiled, handing me the open packet, I picked out a couple of them, shoving them into my mouth before I spoke.

"You can cheat your diet for this trip."

"Nope, I don't think so. End of conversation," she said before plugging in her earphones, which I'm sure has no music on. She has a habit of doing this every time someone tries to argue with her.

"Well, your loss..." I shrugged, smiling to myself. I'm sure she'll be eating cheese fries and burgers within two hours. Shoving some more m&m in my mouth, I took out my phone to see a text from my mom.

"Yeah man, did you saw that shot, that was pretty amazing." A couple of deep voices overlapping each other entered from the front of the bus making my eyes dart towards the source of it.

I looked up from my phone to see A stupid blonde-haired guy with his stupid best friend entering the bus. An ugly smirk crept over the blonde's face as he looked towards us, making me disgusted to the core. I looked away towards the window, as they walked past us and settled in the back of the bus.

Finn Brown and Zander Lowell.

The famous duo of the school. The bad boys. The ladies charmers. The quarterbacks the blah-blah-blah. In short, The ultimate assholes.

Finn and I went out since the beginning of the senior year, we were together for five months until he cheated on me.

Expected huh? It wasn't to me. I guess I was too dumb and naïve to fall in love with someone who's just an selfish, arrogant player.

You must be thinking, ugh who falls in love with someone in high school?
Well, I'm sure everyone does, just the thing is some don't acknowledge it while others don't confess it.

Whatever, I did them both and look where I am. Though it wasn't bad being in a relationship with him until he showed his true colors, it wasn't like he was my first but it was still devastating.

I remember the day when a picture of him and some black-haired girl kissing was circulated all over the internet. Damn, I seriously don't wanna relive that day...

I sighed, thinking about how I almost backed out of this trip because of him, and the thought of having him around for these days. Well, screw him, I'm here to enjoy these few days before we head off to college and make lots of memories.

Memories!

I quickly rummaged through my sling bag and took out my Polaroid camera, facing it towards the black-haired girl sitting next to me.

"Hey cheese!" I laughed before clicking a random shot of Summer applying lipstick on her lips. She groaned throwing her head back – complaining about how she was not ready and her face looked horrible in it. I chuckled and placed the snap in my diary labeled ' senior year memories'.

"Oh, Holly can you just shut up." The familiar shrilled voice entered the bus. Mellisa and her minions walked past us, joining others at the back.

The in charged teacher came and counted the number of students, cross checked the list and made sure everyone is seated – the bus finally started following by the silly loud hooting of the boys in the bus. We finally took off.

Thank God.

Great, all of them in one bus. It's going to be one hell of a trip.

And, that's the end of the first chapter!
