Muzan woke in the morning to Tanjiro still softly sleeping next to him, the boy's face buried comfortably in the demon's chest while letting out small snores.

Kibutsuji let a small smile grace his usually stern features and pressed a small kiss on his forehead, shuffling silently out of the bed afterwards as to not wake him up.

He walked over to the little fridge in the corner of his room and grabbed a little makeshift break fast which contained quite a substantial amount of human blood infused into it.

Tanjiro didn't need to eat human flesh in order to survive, however consuming it would make him stronger either way. So Muzan concluded he would continue to do this for Tanjiro since he wouldn't eat flesh willingly; even if he tried to control him to eat it Tanjiro just wouldn't for some reason.

He sat the food down on the small table next to the bed and gently caressed Tanjiro's face till he woke up; bright velvet red eyes fluttering open and focussing on the man sat next to him.

"Hello Tanjiro, I trust you slept well?" Muzan asked, watching the boy stretch and rub his eyes cutely.

Tanjiro mumbled something and yawned wildly, his large teeth on full display before he closed his mouth again "I'm so sorry for falling asleep Muzan-sama, w-will you forg-" Tanjiro's eyes widened as he quickly remembered last night, fearing a punishment he began apologising before Muzan hushed him.

"Don't apologise, that simply means you enjoyed it. And that makes me happy" he grinned, taking pleasure in seeing Tanjiro's slightly red face.

"Here you are, you're going to need it for your mission today"

{Kagaya POV}

What should I do...

This is definitely the predicament.

Tanjiro becoming a whole new rank in the twelve Kizuki? Zero? Does that mean he is Muzan's right hand now, serving closely by his side?

Not to mention Tanjiro can walk under the sun... this could be detrimental. Muzan could simply absorb Tanjiro and conquer the sun himself. If so why hasn't he done that?

Why did he make him into an upper moon instead of gaining the ability of walking under the sun? This makes no sense... why?

Why why why why why! I gritted my teeth and tugged at my hair, pulling at the roots as my breathing became quicker.

No I have to keep calm. Just breathe... you'll figure something out.

Ok. From the observations of my crow and the hashira, Tanjiro hasn't consumed a human and will never need to due to his special condition, so that only leaves the possibility that Tanjiro can still be saved.

'White eyes' they said his eyes turned white while attempting to attack him... he also protected Mitsuri. Ah! So that means Tanjiro is attempting to fight Kibutsuji's hold over his body.

So he's trying to escape his manipulation...

So Tanjiro hasn't lost his humanity. He's still there, he just needs the right lure to yank him from Kibutsuji's hold. I'm not sure what that'll be yet, but now I must try to figure out why Muzan hasn't killed Tanjiro yet.

Maybe he's doing it to agitate the Hashira and tempt them to an early death?

No... that can't be it since since he simply could've killed them in the infinity fortress if those were his motives.

Maybe... he simply doesn't want to kill Tanjiro? No no! What a stupid idea Ubuyashiki, why did that even cross my mind. It's not like Kibutsuji cares for someone.

Saying that... is it really possible? Is that monster capable of feeling certain emotions? Even if he was able to it would certainly be twisted and still inhuman.

Impossible.

I simply refuse to believe such a predicament.

Kibutsuji lost every strand of his humanity centuries ago.

There must be something else...! Come on! Think Ubuyashiki! Tanjiro's depending on you! Don't let him down... my children... their depending on me as well.

Come on. Think think think!

Maybe he's using him for... no no that wouldn't work! What else...

"Honey?"

What could it be? Is he planning something? That means I have to figure something out quickly!

"Darling!"

He could even be coming to attack us now and I wouldn't even know so think! He could be using Tanjiro as a distraction and absorb him last minute in the fight?

"Master!"

Maybe... but that still doesn't explain-

"Snap out of it honey! Breathe, it'll all be ok. You'll figure out something" I gasped as my wife rattled me by my shoulders the sudden rush of air filling my lungs.

"You started to hyperventilate while mumbling a bunch of gibberish!" She exclaimed, still holding my shoulders worriedly. I steadied my head for a moment, letting my vision clear and fuzzy head silence.

"I'm sorry. I was just getting a little stressed you see" I smiled, grabbing her hands reassuringly.

"Is there anything I can help you with? Could I be of any use?"

I hummed and looked at her.

"Do you think it's possible for Kibutsuji to posses human emotions? Maybe... compassion... even love?" I asked her, watching her face change as she thought about the question.

"Yes I do think it's possible. This is to do with Tanjiro Kamado is it not?" She answered after a little thinking.

I was surprised but nodded nonetheless "yes that's him"

She laughed.

"you've seen how everyone acts around him my love, Tanjiro can make anyone fall head over heals for him, and by no doubt this same thing is happening to Kibutsuji right now..."

"The flower only blooms today, it's located on one of the highest summits and is completely covered in sunlight which is why no one has been able to retrieve it for me...." Muzan informed, looking at Tanjiro intently.

"It's guarded by many people whom are different from demon slayers, I don't know much information about them but I'm sure you'll have no problem getting past them, make me proud Tanjiro"

The boy bowed, summoning Hantengu's blood demon art and using it as his own; growing the wings of one of his emotions in his back and flaring them behind him.

Muzan watched gleefully as Tanjiro set off into the sky, beautiful crimson features dropping to the floor as he flew past the clouds.

Now Muzan would soon be able to walk under the sun and have Tanjiro by his side forever.

Well...

if only it were that simple...
