❅Chapter VIII❅
SAKURA SNOW

Langa's Point of View~
We decided to go to Crazy Rock to practice skating. We technically had to walk there since we were kinda tired to even skateboard there but Kaho looked like she was about to drop down on the floor since she was walking pretty slow.
"Do we have to walk all the way to Crazy Rock? Can't we just hitch a car ride or something? My legs are so tired." I heard Kaho say.
"There are barely any Taxis or cars around here and besides we can't go there with someone that's not part of that place since it is top secret." Reki said, stating the obvious.
"Yeah I know that smarta**. I am just too tired right now." She said, shooting a Reki a small glare.
"I can carry you if you like?" I suggested.
"N-No thanks I am good!" I heard Kaho say instantly, looking down.
"How come? I thought you were tired." I asked, tilting my head a little.
"I am but being carried by someone is embarrassing..." She mumbled, looking away flustered.
"Hey is that Shadow's car?! We can hitch a ride from him! Come on!" Reki said.
"I call shotgun!" Miya said running past Reki and slowly getting into the passenger seat as the three of us followed.
I opened one side of the car door and slid into the seat as Kaho then got in next and sat beside me as I sat beside the window seat on my right while Reki got in last and sat on the left side, making Kaho sit in between us.
"Well this is very comfortable..." Kaho mumbled.
"Hey Miya! Mind switching seats?"
"Do you really hate us that much?" Reki asked sarcastically.
"If I did, I wouldn't have hung out with you guys." Kaho said, pointing out the obvious.
"I liked you better when you're aren't so salty." Reki said, only to receive a slap in the head from Kaho.
"Ow!" Reki said, rubbing the back of his head.
We stopped talking until we noticed someone coming from the flower shop and then later, open the door to the driving seat and sit down. Even if he looked completely different, I knew very well that it was Shadow. After a few seconds he took knowledge that we were here.
"WHAT THE HELL?!" Shadow exclaimed, looking back at us.
"Please be the dad tonight and drive us to Crazy Rock Shadow!" Reki said, pleadingly.
"I am only twenty four ya derp!" Shadow said before changing his composure.
"And who's this Shadow guy you seeing things?" He asked, changing his tone.
"You don't look that different." Miya said.
"Isn't it obvious? It's clear that you're Shadow." Kaho pointed.
"Who the hell are you?!" Shadow asked looking at her.
"Do I really look that different with my glasses?" She said, taking them off.
"Sakura?!"
"I'm begging you! Miya didn't bring his helmet with him." Reki said, trying to persuade him.
"LIKE I CARE!"
"Everything okay?!" We heard a feminine voice say from outside.
"Yeah! Everything's awesome!" Shadow said, getting out of the car and then coming back in.
"I'm begging! Please!"
"Please sir?"
"It would be really appreciated!"
"If you don't then I'll tell that girl over there."
And with that Shadow hit the gas pedal and drove of to Crazy Rock while somehow getting his makeup on in a matter of minutes. Honestly, the first time I have ever seen someone do it so quickly.
"Just this once, don't get used to it." Shadow said displeased.
"Hey Miya? Have you ever skated one on one against Adam before?" Reki asked as if he read my mind.
"Nope." Miya replied simply which didn't satisfy Reki.
"I hate that answer. Wait... Then how do you know him?" Reki asked quizzically.
Miya then explained how he met Adam and how it had changed the way he had skateboarded and technically another reason why he came to be in the Japanese League as Kaho. It made a lot of sense as to how he knew Adam.
"It made all the difference in my performance. No coach ever told me that. From then on, he'd show up ever so often. That's also how I got started with S." Miya explained.
"Is that why you wanted you to race against me?" I asked.
"Yeah. He said it would be a learning opportunity." He said pausing for a bit before continuing. "Not sure if he means for us or for him."
"Definitely for himself." Kaho said, looking down on her lap.
"He's got a move. I've never seen it. But it's a trick he calls his Love Hug. He does it by going uphill." Miya said, making me shocked at the information.
"That's not possible." Reki said, not believing it.
"You never know how much filter gossip has this through." Shadow said, agreeing with Reki.
"Yeah... it's impossible alright." Kaho said, mumbling under her breath but I was able to hear what she said, making me look at her.
"I know. Could be BS." Miya said as I looked back at him. "But I know someone who has skated against Adam but I can't say who because I know they wouldn't want me telling anyone."
That instantly made me look back at Kaho, who was still looking down and avoiding eye contact. I didn't want to alarm her much thinking I may have figured out that it could be her who has skated against Adam but then it could be someone else but I have this hunch that it's her.

Cherry's Point of View~
"So I met Snow this afternoon." I heard my friend, Kojiro say as I looked at him confused.
"Snow who?" I asked.
"That's what they're calling the rookie who used the duct tape I guess cause he's a snowboarder?"
"I bet he's the reason Adam's making a comeback." I said looking at him, knitting my eyebrow at the thought.
"It's probably been a while since he felt inspired by anyone." He said, letting out a sigh as I put down my glass of wine.
"All the more reason to challenge him to a match." I said.
"I will too." He said, copying my words.
"Copycat!"
"I'm not copying!"
"Then go to the back of the line!"
"You're cute! But I'm not budging! You'll have to fight me for my spot!"
"I have no problem with that." I told him, getting irritated.
"I've got our challenge right here!" I said, taking out a calligraphy page with a calligraphy brush.
"You can't use your side also I know nothing about supposed challenge!" He said, protesting.
"The one accepting the challenge gets to choose it's nature. That's how it works."
"No robot lover is gonna tell me what to do! This is school trips all over again!"
"That was an outdoor school you dopey gorilla!" I shot back, stating the obvious.
Silence came over us once more as I sat back down on my chair and sighed. The thought of Adam coming back gives me nightmares on the day that Kaho and him had a beef together and it didn't end well well for her.
"I also met Kaho who was with Snow and the redhead today. Kaho didn't seem so pleased with the two of them." I heard Kojiro say as I looked at him.
"I don't blame her for acting that way towards the two. She didn't have a good history with Adam at all after that beef so I know well that she is worried about the two having the same fate fall on them." I listened as I put down my glasses and ran my hand down from my eye to my mouth.
"Do those two know?" I asked.
"No. I told them that Kaho would share her story when she is ready. You know what this kid went through with no friends and whatsoever so it will take time." Kojiro explained as I sighed, looking down on the table.
"If only our father wasn't such a bastard to leave a week after Kaho was born. Breaking the news to her was much worse than anything in the world." I said, grumbling at the thought of him.
"You don't have to think of that old man. At least she had her mother till how much she could have had. That was much better than not having both parents at the same time." He said, putting a hand on my shoulder.
"You're right. Just can't get that scene out of my head. I thought I lost her for good. She was the only remaining family member I had." I said, trying not to cry.
"I know. But let's just hope things will be okay." Kojiro said, reassuring me as I nodded.
"Yeah. You're right." I said, letting out a huge sigh.
"Hopefully." I thought to myself, taking a sip of the wine.

Langa's Point of View~
We looked over at Miya skating down the hill to show us the rail slide trick. He was going at a big speed but enough for him to actually turn his board to the side to do so. He seemed pretty cool with the trick I saw whim do during our beef.
"Why is he not dropping speed?" Shadow asked.
"He's not gonna make that turn." Reki said.
"Did you seriously forget what I did in my beef with Shadow?" Kaho asked as I remembered her doing a rail slide and making a quick turn with the big speed she was skating down on the hill back then.
Right then, we saw Miya do a 360 turn with his board as he did a rail slide and then flipped his board again to skate down the road and make a swift turn to stop and face us. That was a pretty cool trick.
"If you don't wanna get crushed i the corner, you have to learn this trick." Miya explained.
"That was cool." Shadow said.
"I saw you and Kaho do that in the races." I said, my eyes sparkling and then we turned to look at Reki.
"Calm down! It's a just a railslide." Reki said, looking like he can do it in one jump.
"It's not. Trust me on that." Kaho said, rolling her eyes.
"Whatever, watch this." Reki said, going over and skating down the road as he tried to do the trick only to lose his balance and fall in the bush nearby.
"Gotta put more spin on it." Kaho said.
"I'm trying again!" Reki said getting up as Kaho sighed going over.
"Lemme demonstrate how it's done one more time so you can get the gist." She said, handing him his skateboard before going over to the far end to skate down.
I carefully looked over at her as she skated down in her normal speed that she had done in with Shadow. She looked concentrated an seemed to know what she was doing. After a minute, she did a quick 360 spin on her board and did a railslide down the path as I looked in awe.
"She's really a great skater." I said as Miya snorted a little.
"Calling her a great skater is an understatement. She's actually the amazing one at S. Guess you could say she's better than me and you slimes." Miya said as I continued to look at Kaho.
She then flipped her board once more to skate down the road and then quickly did a spin and came to a stop in front of us. Not gonna lie, that really was a cool trick she did in the end. Maybe I could ask her if she could teach me that one.
"Now you try doing it Reki." Kaho said as Reki went over to try again.
I don't know how long it has been but it has been a while since Reki was trying to pull a railslide and Shadow had gone back in the car and had fallen asleep while me, Miya and Kaho looked over at him attempting to nail the railslide but only to fall once more.
"Your upper body's too far in. It's throwing your balance way off." Miya said.
"Shut up kid! One more time." Reki said looking around for his board.
"Where's my board?" Reki looked around as I figured that it had rolled off.
"I'll go get it." I said grabbing my board.
I skated down the hill as I remembered what Miya said about Adam going up hill. In all honesty, I didn't wanna believe it but something was telling me that it was possible in a way.
"How would he do that? Sounds impossible." I thought to myself.
I decided to try doing it. I swiftly spun my board around and tried to do it but I basically fell on my back in the end and it was the most painful thing to even happen.
"Langa! You okay!?" I heard kaho say, skating up to me as she lend me her hand and hoisted me up.
"What are you doing?" Reki asked, catching up to us two.
"You must be joking. You were trying Adam's trick huh?" Miya asked, understanding the reason i fell.
"Yeah..." I said.
"He doesn't really do stunts uphill. Uhh! It's just gossip." Reki said.
"Yeah it's gossip alright." I heard Kaho say.
"Come on. Let's hurry up and get back." Reki said as I looked at him and then back at Kaho.
"Let's go eat somewhere. I am kinda hungry." Kaho said, like nothing even happened.
"Yeah same. Come on. Let's ask Shadow to take us to a fast food restaurant or something." Reki said as we walked back to the car.
We came to the nearest fast food restaurant. Shadow put his hood up and entered the place as we came and ordered our food and later took the tray and sat down in our spot where Miya was sitting with something.
"Where's your food? What's that stuff?" I heard Reki asked as I sat down on the far end with Kaho who sat beside me.
"They help me balance my nutrition. It's what responsible athletes do." Miya said as Reki sat down beside him.
"You know, real food has nutrients too. Here!" Reki said, putting a burger in his mouth, making instantly react.
"What's wrong with you?! Are you trying to get me fat!?" Miya exclaimed, scratching Reki's face.
"Watch the brain! We're in a restaurant! At least order from the menu." he said, retracting Miya's hand only to leave a scratch mark on his face.
"I am never a shrimp to you like a man so you're off the hook." Shadow said.
"I'm not a shrimp! I'm still growing while you're just a fat old guy!" Miya said yelling back at Shadow.
"I'm not fat! These calves are all muscles! You think you're gonna grow up feeding all that to your body!?"
"No human body should ingest five hamburgers!"
I just looked at that while taking a bite of my hamburger while I looked over at Kaho who was looking at me as we both shrugged and continued eating as my Poutine order had arrived as the two continued to fight.
"Here's your super poutine. Thanks for waiting." The waitress said.

Kaho's Point of View~
After all that, we decided to go home. Langa offered to walk me back home but I told him that it wasn't needed and bid them goodnight as I skated down the road. It was pretty late but I knew that Nii-san would be at Joe's restaurant and would return home later.
As I skated, I looked up at the sky to see the moon was up. I smiled as I looked up ahead and made a couple of turns on the roads and eventually reached home. I picked up my board and opened the door and quickly let myself in.
"Oh you're back." I heard Nii-san say as I looked behind me to see it was him.
"Fancy seeing you home early as well." I said, giving him a small smile.
"I didn't feel like staying outside for long today." he said going over to the dining table and sitting down with his tea.
"I guess none of us are having a good day. Not after he came back." I said sitting down opposite to him after getting myself a glass of water.
Silence came over us as we sat still on our chairs while Cherry drank his tea and I just looked down at my half empty glass of water. I wanted to ask him about dad and I know it's stupid but I just wanted to know.
"Hey Nii-san." I started.
"Yes? What is it?" He asked as I sighed.
"Did... Dad ever love me?" I asked and an awkward silence fell on us once more.
"I think you already know the answer but why would you ask this?" He asked me as I sighed.
"Is it my fault that my dad left mom? Would dad have stayed with mom and you if I were never born?" I asked, trying to keep a straight face while looking down, knowing I will start crying once I look at Kaoru.
"Don't say that. Dad made the choice to leave mom. Leave us just because he was a bastard to begin with. So don't think it's your fault." Kaoru told me as I silently nodded and got up from the chair.
"Yeah you're right... I'm going to bed. It's really late anyways." I told him as I walked out of the room and ran up to my bedroom.
I quickly put my board down and quickly brushed my teeth and changed my clothes into a few comfortable ones I prefer wearing when sleeping. I turned the lights off and flopped down on my bed.
I just didn't want to talk about dad anymore. Kaoru already made it clear that my dad didn't want me. I sighed and tried to fall asleep but I couldn't. That was until I heard my phone go off as I reached for it on my desk and turned it on to see a message from Langa.
Lasagna:
Did you get home safe?
Me:
Yeah I did.
Lasagna:
That's good to know!
Me:
:)
Lasagna:
Are you okay?
Me:
Yeah uh why do you ask?
Lasagna:
I am just getting the feeling you aren't.
Me:
... I guess you are right.
Lasagna:
Wanna talk about it? I am not pushing if you don't want to.
Me:
I'll be fine. Thanks for checking up on me.
Lasagna:
Anytime! I care about you a lot! :D
Me:
You're sweet. Goodnight.
Lasagna:
Night! <3
I blushed at the last bit and put my phone down as I brought the covers up on my face. God he's so sweet. His mother is lucky to have a sweet son like him. I turned over to the other side and closed my eyes. Tomorrow is the beef so I am keeping my fingers crossed and hope that nothing goes wrong. I sighed and brought the covers over my face and slowly fell asleep.
❅ ╤╤╤╤ ❀ ╤╤╤╤ ❅
I walked down the staircase quietly so as to not wake up my brother. I quickly put a note down on the table and grabbed my skateboard. It was pretty early in the morning and I had the urge to just go and find and Reki knowing that he is very much pushing himself.
I quietly opened the door and walked outside. Then I turned around to slowly and quietly close the door. I slightly cringed at the small sound I made and hoped that it didn't wake him up. When I turned around, I saw Langa standing five feet behind me, making me yelp in surprise.
"I swear, never do that again." I told him in a hushed tone.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to startle you." He said as I sighed.
"It's fine." I said before looking back at him. "What are you doing here?"
"I had a hunch you were going to go and see Reki so I decided to come and pick you up." He said as I blinked a few times before sighing.
"I guess we both had the same idea huh?" I said rubbing the back of my neck. "I am worried that he's pushing himself."
"Me too. I don't want him to over exhaust himself in any way possible." He said, sighing.
"I am mostly worried about the beef tonight." I confessed.
"I have faith Reki's gonna be able to beat Adam." Langa said, smiling while I let out a small sigh knowing that there is a small chance but I had my faith too.
We both eventually arrived at the downhill road that Reki skates sometimes. We saw Reki walking up the hill with his skateboard only to trip and drop the board as it rolled down towards us but Langa picked it up.
"I feel like we've been through something like this before." Langa said as we both walked up to him.
"Langa... Kaho... How dod you two know I was here?" He asked.
"Just had a feeling." Langa replied.
"We are your friends so of course we would know." I said, smiling.
Reki looked at us before letting out a laugh while rubbing his finger under his nose, making me and Langa both smile as the mood was uplifted. I am glad to have them as my friends.
