SAKURA SNOW

Kaho's Point of View~
When I say classes are boring, they are boring when you're in a boring lecture. The fact that I couldn't whisper without getting caught was an issues so that made things more boring for me. I glanced over at Langa to see how he was doing.
He was very much holding his book up while his phone was hidden behind it and he seemed to be typing something. Right at that moment, I felt my phone buzz. Luckily it was on vibrate so the teacher didn't hear anything. I quickly whipped out my phone to check who texted me and I open it to see Langa.
Lasagna:
Hey!
Me:
Surprised to see you texting me when I am literally right beside you lol
Lasagna:
Well yeah but we aren't allowed to whisper to each other or anything so this was the only way.
Me:
Yeah I know!
Lasagna:
You okay? You seemed pretty annoyed.
Me:
I am just hating this lecture. I just wanna get out of here and go skateboard or at least do something else besides school.
Lasagna:
Not a shocker from you and yeah I guess I could agree.
Me:
Did Reki fall asleep?
Lasagna:
Yeah pretty much. I am surprised the teacher didn't notice yet.
Me:
Yeah and I hope it stays that way. Don't want the poor child to get in trouble now lol
Lasagna:
Yeah same.
Me:
So...
Lasagna:
Have I ever told you that you have a nice smile?
Me:
Huh- Where did that come from?
Lasagna:
No I just saw you smiling so I just found it pretty nice.
Me:
Oh haha thank you. You have a nice smile too! :D
Right at that moment, class had ended. I closed my book and put it away along with my phone and got up from my seat. I looked to my side to see Reki had woken up and seemed as energetic as always.
"Hey can we stop by Dope Sketch? I need to do something before we can go and skateboard together." I heard Reki ask as I nodded.
"Sure. Luckily the library's closed for today as well." I told them.
"That's great! I can't wait to tell Oka about the ollie you popped yesterday!" Reki said, looking at Langa who was trying to get used to Reki's excitement but didn't mind it.
"I'll see you guys outside in a bit then." I told them, walking out of the classroom and going over to locker to get my board and other stuff out.
I opened the locker and took out my books and put them in my bag and slung it around my back. Then I reached inside and took out my board which was leaning against the back of the locker. That's when I heard someone speak beside me.
"You skateboard?" I looked to see it was a boy with brown hair and green eyes as I shut my locker.
"Yeah? You have a problem with it?" I asked crossing my arms over my chest.
"Didn't expect a girl like you to skateboard much less hang out with low-life dorks who do too." He said making me annoyed.
"Listen here jacka**. If you think you can go over and insult my friends or make a comment about me skateboarding, then I suggest you leave and get the hell out of my face before I punch the living daylights out of you." I said threatening him.
"Please like you can do anything like that." With that I kicked him on his knees to shut him up.
"Ow! Why you little-" He was cut instantly from a voice from behind.
"Is there a problem here?" I recognized it to be Langa's voice as I looked in front to see it was.
"No. I am leaving." The brown haired boy said, clearly annoyed as he walked past me.
"Are you okay, Kaho?" The blue haired boy asked as I shook my head.
"It was nothing I couldn't handle. He was just talking sh*t about you two so I was just defending you guys." I said explaining the situation to them.
"Eh! Not the first time, I've been called something but thanks anyways. That guy is a jerk anyways so best steer clear of him." Reki said as I nodded.
"Yeah I picked up on that. Let's go and get out of here. Don't think I can stand around in the hallway anymore after that boring lecture." I said making my way out of the school.
"Hey wait for us!" Reki called out from behind, the two boys catching up to me.
❅ ╤╤╤╤ ❀ ╤╤╤╤ ❅
"Are you insane!?" Basically what I heard Reki say to Oka.
"This guy is a certified genius!" He continued wrapping an arm around Langa's shoulder and making him lean down to his level.
"You know how long it takes to nail an ollie? It took me two months! It only took this mastermind two weeks." He said, messing up Langa's hair while keeping him in the same position, making me giggle.
"He jumped over a twig right?" Oka asked after letting out a sigh, making Reki slam his hands on the counter.
"So?!" Reki exclaimed as Langa let out a sigh and that was when we heard the door open, making Oka turn towards the sound of the bell ringing.
"How can we help you? Wait you're..." Oka trailed off as I peeked over to see it was Miya.
"No freaking way! Japanese National Hopeful Miya Chinen?" Rei asked, pretty much shocked to see him here.
"Hey Miya!" I said casually greeting him.
"You know him?!" Reki asked, making me slightly cringe at his loud voice.
"Of course I do. I was the one to teach him how to skateboard and do many other cool tricks I do." I said explaining to him.
"There you are. I want to run a beef against you in S." Miya said in his usual calm voice.
"A beef? That's so random but okay..." He said, pretty much flustered.
"He wasn't talking to you dumba**." I told him, breaking the news as he turned, looking offended.
"You called me a what?!" He said, clearly offended.
"I need a challenge. It's a been a while since I've leveled up." Miya said looking straight and confident at Langa.
"Are you in?" He asked him.
"Why do you wanna go against Langa in the first place Miya?" I asked him as he gave me a knowing look which I understood well.
"I have seen the beef he had with Shadow the other day and I'll say that I am very impressed by it." He said explaining to us all.
I looked at langa who looked at Miya, pondering if he should take it or not. I knew damn well he was gonna go for it no matter what. Though the possibility of him winning was either slim or he had a fifty-fifty chance to win.
"Don't even think about it. He's in a totally different class." Reki warned Langa.
"I heard you're actually a snowboarder, is that right? Very fascinating." Miya said and I knew very well where this was going.
"I'd love to see how you managed to beat Shadow." He lastly said, pretty much knowing that her persuaded Langa enough to accept.
"I get that..." He said, looking lost in his thoughts for a bit.
"But I accept." He said lastly and of course I saw it coming from a mile away.
"Slow your role! Don't get cocky cause you nailed an ollie. This guy is a hardcore professional alongside Kaho!" Reki said trying to reason with him.
"Reki I think it's too late to make him back out." I told him as he gave me a look that screamed, 'why aren't you helping me' but I just shrugged.
"I'm in." Langa said, being stubborn about it.
"Really?!" Reki yelled in his face as I sighed, shaking my head.
"Then it's settled. What will the stakes be? Any ideas on what we shall bet?" Miya asked looking at them but I knew very well none of us could think of anything so I stepped in.
"How about this Miya, why don't we think about what they should bet on later on? We still have time before the beef between you two." I said as he pondered for a bit before nodding.
"Yeah you're right." He said handing Sketchy to me.
"I'll think about what we should bet on." He said turning around and exiting the store.
"Kaho, please help me put some sense into this guy? He's gonna go up against someone who is in the same Japanese League as you!" Reki asked as I sighed.
"That's exactly why I want to do it." Langa said.
"I thought so. Anyways I gotta go." I said walking past the two.
"Wait... you said you had no work!" Reki said remember what I told them earlier.
"Yeah, the owner changed their mind and said they want me to come as soon as possible. I'll see you two later or tomorrow. Preferably tomorrow." I said.
"Well, I guess we'll see you later." Reki said as Langa nodded.
"Yeah bye guys!" I told them as I headed out the store.
"Didn't think you would actually hang around those two. Much less be friends with them." I looked behind me to see it was Miya who was talking.
"Having friends is better than having none you know?" I told him as he rolled his eyes.
"Having friends is a pain and you should know it very well." He said walking past me as I turned around.
"Miya... I may have not been around for two years and I have no clue what had happened during those years but... you pretty much changed." I told him as he stopped in his tracks.
"I am actually surprised you picked up on that. Not that I didn't think you would. You have always been the observant one." He said, not looking at me once.
"Whatever, I have to go somewhere. I'll talk to you later whenever I can." He said skateboarding down the road as I continued to look at him.
I didn't even bother asking what happened. Also why did he say that having friends are a pain. I remember that he always skateboarded with his friends at the skatepark. I guess the only thing that changed here was the people but not the place.
I decided to not think much about it and skated down the road to work. I did the usual job I had which was putting back returned book in it's shelves, checking out books and the usual library stuff. At least tomorrow is a weekend and I can pretty much spend my time skating with the two and help Langa with somethings to help him win against Miya.
❅ ╤╤╤╤ ❀ ╤╤╤╤ ❅
The first thing I did was wake up in the morning, freshen up and do my usual morning routine, go downstairs and have breakfast with my brother and pretty much brush my teeth and get ready to go outside.
I already told Langa and Reki that I was planning on going to S as early as possible so we can skate around and more and of course I told him that I'd help him with somethings to help him win against Miya but I didn't promise anything.
"That's ridiculous. They should just leave the gates open." The first thing langa said as we were granted permission to enter S after showing our S stickers to the guards.
"That's technically where you're wrong. They can't leave the gates open." I told him as we started to skate down the path.
"Why?" He asked.
"You're not even supposed to talk about the course existing. Why would they keep it open for all to see?" He said proving a point.
Langa sighed, knowing he couldn't argue back at his point. I did notice the support on the board for his feet as he started to move it around. I am not even sure if he will be able to win with them but only God knows what's gonna happen either way.
"Anyways, is this your shtick? Jumping into stupid situations?" Reki asked looking at Langa.
"What do you mean?" The blue haired boy asked, clearly confused.
"Exactly what you can tell it means." I told him, knowing full well what Reki was saying.
"I mean accepting rando challenges. No other noob would race against Shadow." Reki said as I rolled my eyes.
"Now you're taking on a National Team Hopeful?" He continued as Langa looked to his side.
"I don't know. It sounded fun I guess." He said, not meeting our eye but his words instantly made me smile, knowing he was enjoying skateboarding.
I must have spaced out at some point cause the first thing I hear is Reki laughing about something to do with Langa's feet and I already missed what happened in the first half but I didn't really care to ask.
"Kaho?" I heard Lang say as I looked at him.
"Yeah?" I responded.
"How does Miya skate?"
"He's pretty smart and knows how to control a board like I do. He uses tricks like me to make it easier to skate and they come pretty handy when turning. Though doing tricks does make you go faster so yeah that's pretty much it."
"What kind of tricks do you two do exactly?"
"Rail slides, casper slides, spins, you get the gist."
"I see..." he said, his eyes sparkling making me smile as he started to move his board from side to side.
"Look at that RSP. It's doing well out here!" he said, instantly making me and Langa look at him.
"What is?" He asked.
"You don't know the name of your board? You're riding the Reki Royal Straight Prince Maru, ma dude." He said, a grin forming on his face as I looked at him confused.
"What in the name of Cherry Blossom is that?" I asked, pretty much confused.
"The name of the board duh!" He said as I mentally facepalmed and readjusted my glasses since they were about to fall off.
"What? Who the heck is Prince Maru?" Langa asked, looking displeased with the name.
"I heard that's what the girls call you? Prince?" He said pointing at him.
"They certainly don't."
"Pretty sure they do! Ask Kaho!" Reki said, putting me on the spot.
"I mean... they kinda do actually." I said as Langa gave me the same look he had given Reki.
"No they don't!" He said.
Right as he said that, I noticed the sound of a speeding skateboard as I looked to my side to see it was Miya and quickly moved away, as he came through us and nearly knocking Reki of his board, thanks to his speed, making us all stop instantly and look at Miya who had turned around and stopped as well.
"You could have hurt someone!" Reki yelled at him, clearly annoyed.
"That's one thing about trash." Miya started, taking his hoodie off from his head.
"It all gets thrown in the same pile." He said, which definitely ticked off Reki.
"What was that?!" He asked, very much sounding pissed.
"Practicing with losers is not a good look." He said turning around with his board.
"Well, later slime boy." He said skating ahead of us.
"Gimme break!" Reki said and started skating towards him.
"Oi pea brain get back here- and he's long gone. I swear I sometimes can't believe him." I said, letting out a sigh.
"Yeah he tends to do that a lot." Langa said chuckling.
I don't know why but his chuckling literally made my heart skip a bit as I looked away. I don't know why but both his laugh and smile always seem to catch my attention and make me feel things. Pretty much makes me blush too.
"You okay Kaho?" I heard Langa ask as i looked at him.
"Oh I am okay! Let's go catch up to those two!" I said going ahead of him as he followed behind.
As we caught up to them, I could see Reki and Miya skating ahead of us and by the looks of it, hey were doing a skateboarding trick contest. Meaning whatever trick Miya was gonna do, Reki was gonna try doing so.
Reki kept on doing moves until he tried to do a Casper but immediately failed to do it and fell on the ground. I quickly skateboarded towards him to help him and see if he got hurt or not cause that was a pretty hard fall.
"Reki!!" Langa yelled out after seeing him fall.
"Dammit!" Reki yelled as I went over to him.
"Sorry! This is hard to do if you're not talented!" Miya said, skating far away from us.
"Freaking jerk!" Reki said as I helped him and right then, i saw Langa skate past us.
"Langa! Hold on!" Reki said as I sighed.
"Oh you gotta be kidding me!" I said pushing up my board and skated towards them to catch up.
I stayed at a distance so I don't accidentally run into any of them. I looked behind to see Reki was coming up from behind. Luckily, I was able to reach them and I saw langa was doing pretty well with the foot support.
I pretty much spoke too soon on that part, cause the minute they hit a turn, his foot support broke, making him lose balance and fall on his knees as his skateboard flew past him. I cringed, knowing that it might have grazed his knee.
"Langa!" I yelled as I stpped behind him and ran towards him.
"I'm fine." He said as Miya looked at Langa's skateboard.
"You're skating on this?" Miya said, making Langa look at his direction.
"Maybe lose the training wheels for the actual race." He said pushing the board towards Langa with his feet, clearly displeased with it.
"I wanna win because I'm better not because your rig sucks." He said turning the opposite way and skating away from.
"Miya..." I trailed off.
I let out a sigh as i helped Langa to stand up and picked up his board and handed it to him. Reki had already caught up with us so he knows what Miya said.
"Thanks." He said since I helped him up.
"Your welcome. Also please don't mind Miya." I told him as I sighed.
"Come one guys. Let's get Langa and his board fixed at the store." Reki said as we nodded and walked out of S.
❅ ╤╤╤╤ ❀ ╤╤╤╤ ❅
We came back to Dope Sketch and of course it was empty besides Oka and Sketchy being the only people existing here. Reki took us at the back of the store where there many many tools and stuff.
While Reki was fixing Langa's board, I used the huge open space at the back in the room and passed my time doing some skateboarding tricks while Langa looked in aw. This pretty much showed that he wanted to learn how to do them.
He was pretty much fascinated with skateboarding the minute he had come across it and the tricks I did since he would ask what the trick I had done and I how I did it. It was pretty cute and adorable when his eyes would sparkle every now and then at whatever he finds interesting.
I stopped doing tricks once I heard Reki call out to us as Langa's skateboard was fixed and he seemed to have added something that looked pretty decent enough to help with Langa's situation here.
Reki added what seemed to look like half straps on the board which I guessed will help Langa since they were twisty. Langa tested it out a little by standing on the board and adjusting it. He was able to stand on it so that was a plus.
"What do you think? I decided to go with toe clips instead so you can switch stances." Reki explained.
"Thank you. This is awesome. It's way better than the other one." Langa said, which pretty much boosted Reki's ego.
"That's why they call me, Mechanic Star Reki." He said proudly.
"Yeah no one really calls you that." I told him, messing with him a little.
"Oh hush you!" He yelled back as i quietly laughed as he looked back at Langa.
"But a win will take more than this." He told the blue haired boy.
"Huh?"
"Be real. Is this board enough to beat Chinen?" Reki asked but Langa just looked at Reki and then looked away unsure.
"I don't know." Langa simply said.
"No freaking way." Oka said, coming out of nowhere in our conversation while holding boxes.
"You agreed to race someone who might skate at nationals. I'd say get over yourself and cancel it." he said walking away as I gave him the stick eye.
"Party pooper." I mumbled scratching my head.
"Hell no! We're gonna win this thing!" Reki said confidently as me and Langa looked at him.
"He's the one who has to skate it." I told him, pointing out the obvious as Langa nodded.
"She's right." He said agreeing with me.
"But you're not the only one teaching that cocky brat a lesson. I'm behind you all the way!" Reki said as Langa just gave him his usual unamused look.
I just sighed, not knowing what else to do. I don't really care if Langa wants to skate against Miya but his chances are pretty much up and down. There's no surety if he'll win. I have hopes he will but considering Miya and I are on the same level, makes me imagine that I am skating against Langa and not Miya.
"This is gonna be a long day." I whispered to myself, taking my glasses off and running my hand over my face and keeping it over my mouth.
