SAKURA SNOW

Kaho's Point of View~

Today was entirely a weekend so the first thing all three of us did was go to the skatepark after breakfast. We were currently working on Langa working on getting his ollie. The progress we made so far was him able to get on a board and be able to skateboard with both his feet but the ollie part was kinda hard. Reminds me of the time I fell on my back several times until I got it right.

I was sitting on the ramp as Reki had slid down from the ramp and went towards the benches to get himself a drink while Langa set down two water bottles on the ground and tried to do his ollie but he legitimately failed the minute he tried to do so, making me go over to him.

"Ouch! Are you okay dude?" Reki said coming behind me with his skateboard.

"I don't get it. Ollies aren't supposed to be difficult." Langa said, pretty much in pain from that fall, his fist being placed on the ground.

"They kind of are if you're skateboarding since it is different from snowboarding you know." I told him, stating the obvious which he definitely didn't know about.

"Aren't ollies in snowboarding? Or is this new?" Reki asked curiously.

"Yeah they are... But your feet are attached but your stance doesn't change so it's not some kind of advanced move. Even amateurs can pull it off. I know well Kaho can if she tried." Langa said as I rolled my eyes.

"Well true but I'd still suck at it." I told him as he turned to look at me.

"Yeah I doubt that coming from someone who is really good at skateboarding." He said looking at me with an unamused expression as always and I didn't argue back knowing he had a point.

"The skateboard isn't attached so you have to make it fly with you." He said continuing.

"Be honest with me... How long did it take you guys to get these down?" He asked looking tired.

"For me, two months! But that's pretty good consideirng most people take like three." Reki said looking standing and looking proud like he accomplished God's work or something.

"It took me a month." I said as Reki looked at me with widened eyes as I gave him a smirk.

"Three months?! Can't I be the one person who doesn't know how to do it? Also for real? It took you a month?" He asked the both of us picking himself up from the ground as I nodded and sat across him on the ground.

"Like, no ollie guy? That's fine if you don't wanna compete." Reki said skateboarding towards the ramp.

"But doing ollies are pretty fun to do and are the best part of skateboarding." I told him as I turned my head to look at Reki who was on the ramp and was sliding down it with his skateboard.

"She's right. Ollies turn a board that glides into a board that flies. Once you can ollie, you can go wherever you want! It's a freaking revolution! A world of possibility!" Reki said, making me smile as I saw the look on Langa's face at his speech knowing it was going through him.

"I mean sure boarding's still fun without ollies, if you don't wanna stand apart from the kids." Reki said stopping his board in front of Langa.

"You gotta learn to do it." He said as I nodded in agreement.

"He's right you know." I told him as he looked at me and then turned back to looking at Reki with wonder.

"I'm ready to take on that world." He said, gripping his shirt to where his heart was. I guess his heart was feeling the excitement of doing it.

"P.S. Ollies don't work when you're taped to the board so don't even." Reki said, making Langa frown in an instant as i sighed.

"He right you know. You can't actually do skateboarding if you're feet are taped to the board." I said to him as he continued to frown.

"You'll get used to it." I told him as he looked at me, still unsure about it all.

"You sure? I am still anxious." He asked as I nodded.

"You've been snowboarding for how long?" Reki asked as Langa counted with his fingers.

"Ah let's see... Fifteen years I think?" Langa said, making Reki's eyes widen in surprise.

"What?! Since you were freaking two?!" He asked him as I covered my ears a little.

"I mean I have been snowboarding since I was four so I don't see anything surprising about him skateboarding two years before me." I said to him as he sighed.

"If you've been doing it for that long, no wonder it's hard for you to skate." Reki said closing his eyes while putting his arms behind the back of his head.

I looked at Langa who was pretty much frowning so I decided to put a reassuring hand on his shoulder which seemed to make him look at me. I gave him a smile to say that I know he will be able to do it. I was pretty successful since he returned the smile and I swear I could feel my cheeks warm up a little. He has a really warm smile for someone who barely smiles.

"Let's go." I heard Reki say as I gave him a questioning look but we both got up and followed him.

❅ ╤╤╤╤ ❀ ╤╤╤╤ ❅

Me and Langa ended up at Reki's house. The house looked pretty nice from the outside but the inside seemed pretty cool as well. I basically had a thing for architect so I was pretty much engrossed over the interior and exterior designs. Later, we ended up in Reki's room.

"Just plop down wherever. God I swear it was in here the other day..." He told us and then mumbling to himself as me and Langa sat down on the floor.

I looked around to see a lot of posters and skateboarding stuff in his room. He seemed pretty passionate about it. I looked at Langa who was staring at one of his skateboard's. I giggled to myself as I looked at my phone. Then I suddenly felt like somebody was looking at me as I turned to my side to see it was Langa.

"What?" I asked the blue haired male as he shook his head.

"It's nothing. You just have a nice laugh is all." He said giving me a small smile as he looked away, leaving me surprised by his compliment though it did make me blush a bit.

"Thanks..." I told him as I quickly texted my brother, telling him that I am at a friend's house and won't be coming home for a while.

I was pretty much fixated on my phone and other things to notice somebody else was in the room. That was until I heard a sound from Langa as I looked at where he was sitting and noticed a little girl staring at him.

"Nanaka...!" I heard Reki say as the girl ran away, leaving Langa slightly terrified.

"Nanaka?" I questioned.

"Who was that?" He asked.

"One of my little sisters." Reki replied and right on cue, I saw who I assumed was Reki's mom.

"Reki! You should let me know when you're bringing friends over." His mom said as she turned to look at us both.

"Hi there. I'm Reki's mother. Welcome. I hope he hasn't gotten you two in any trouble. Are you two okay?" She asked us. She was pretty sweet and very much reminded me of my mom...

"Of course they're okay mom! This is me you're talking about." I heard Reki say as his mom gave out a small laugh.

"And that's why I am worried for him." She said talking in a small baby voice which was pretty much bringing me on the brink of laughing but I controlled myself.

"I'm your son. Not your pet monster." He said responding back as her mom then turned came in front of our faces.

"So! Are you two hungry yet? I've got some yummy cake if you'd like?" She asked us as the two twins chanted 'cake'.

"Thanks for asking me!" Reki said from behind sarcastically.

"Just one tiny slice?" She asked making Langa sweat drop and I just couldn't reject her offer.

"Sure..." I heard Langa say.

"I would like one too..." I told her, which seemed to make her smile as she got up.

"I'll bring it right over for you." She said leaving and closing the door.

"There's a lot going on." Langa said looking at Reki.

"I agree. How do you put up with this?" I asked him.

"You mean you two don't get harassed or embarrassed at your houses?" He asked as we both shook our heads.

❅ ╤╤╤╤ ❀ ╤╤╤╤ ❅

We had already finished eating and Reki was flipping through a magazine until he had found what he was mainly looking for and called us over to see.

"Here it is. What about this one?" He said showing us the picture of a skateboard which had the feet fixed in place.

"The feet are fixed in place? I've never heard or that. I mean yeah that would help." He said looking at the picture as I observed it from the far end on Langa's side.

"I can make you one." I heard Reki say which instantly perked up Langa and my interest.

"What? You can make these?" Langa asked as Reki smiled.

"Well yeah. I made the board you used against Shadow too and the one you practice on." Reki said as Langa looked at the board.

"I had no idea..." He said before Reki spoke up.

"So like that but with a bigger deck right?" He asked.

"Well yeah." Langa responded.

"Figured cause how you were skating the other day. If the deck was bigger, we could widen the wheel base and that would give you more stability."

"Your biggest fear is falling off, right? You probably wobble the most when you take corners." I asked after I quietly listened to their conversation picking up on the fact as Langa looked at me.

"Yeah i do... How can you tell?" He asked as I gave him a knowing smile.

"Because skating. It's what we know best." I told him as he continued to look at me.

"Yeah..." I heard him mumble.

❅ ╤╤╤╤ ❀ ╤╤╤╤ ❅

Reki then led us outside and brought us towards what looked like a small shed-like garage. He went over to it and slowly lifted it up as we came behind him. he turned on the lights as we looked around to see many tools and equipment for a skateboard.

"I didn't know there was a garage back here." Langa said as I looked over at Reki walking over wooden boards and picking one out as he inspected it.

"This one could work." He said.

"On what?" Langa asked, confused.

"They don't sell the kind of deck you need. So I'm gonna shave this one down."

Reki put the board on the table and took out a cutting tool. Langa watched as he cut the board until I tugged on his sleeve to get his attention.

"You should think about the wheels you want!" I yelled at him over the noise.

"Wheels... you mean on the skateboard?" Langa yelled, too, as he looked at me.

"Yeah." Reki said joining in.

"The bigger ones are faster and heavier than the smaller ones. Just keep in mind you gotta pick out trucks that work with them."

"A pick up truck?" Langa asked as I sighed.

"Oh my god..." Reki said getting out a page from a magazine which showed three kinds of boards.

"This is a long board. Literally a surfboard but with wheels and freaking huge. This is a cruiser for, you know, cruising around and this is a street." He said showing the different kinds of boards to the blue haired boy as he took out his phone to show him a video with skateboarders doing tricks and stuff.

"How did he just do that?" Langa asked looking at a person doing a trick.

"He's a boss." Reki told him.

"Yeah..." He said agreeing before reacting to another trick.

"Woah! That's a street board?" He asked as I giggled.

"Sure is." I told him.

"Wicked! Only a handful of guys can pull off that trick." Reki said smiling as Langa looked at the video in wonder.

"But still it's possible." he said as I nodded.

"You'll be able to do those someday." I told him, making him have faith on himself.

I saw Langa staring into nothing at my words as me and and Reki laughed lightly at his reaction. He sure was getting really into this and that was a a very good sign.

"Are they skating in a tunnel?" Langa asked looking at the video.

"Of course. Why wouldn't they?" I said.

"This is amazing. They're everywhere. Nothing is off limits" Langa spoke, his eyes wide.

"Snowboarding's at it's best in the mountains but only if there's enough snow on the grounds and if there's not a blizzard. The indoor ramps are usually pretty cramped." He said explaining Reki's confusion.

"I see what you mean. Kinda sucks you know." I told him as he nodded.

"Yeah I agree. You can take a skateboard to school with you." Reki told him.

"In parks and mountains."

"Morning, noon and night bro!"

"It doesn't have to be snowing either."

"Yeah!"

"Anytime, anywhere under any circumstance! It's the best! No limits, only possibilities! Skating is infinite!" Reki said as Langa looked at him.

"Infinite..." He said trailing off in wonder as I noticed him slowly falling in love with skateboarding, making me smile even more.

Third Person point of View~

Some hours had already past as the red head worked on the skateboard while the other two looked over at his work as they chatted about small things until they both realized that they had to go home.

"I should go home. It's getting pretty late." Kaho said checking the time knowing full well his brother would be wondering where she went unless he was at S tonight.

"Same here. My mum is probably worried sick as to where I am." He said getting up, looking away from Reki and at the pink haired girl.

"We can walk home together if you'd like?" He asked me.

"I mean if it's not too much trouble then sure." She asked as he shook his head.

"It's fine. I don't mind." He said, a small smile forming on his face.

"You guys go on ahead. I'll just work on this board while you're at it." Reki said as Kaho looked at him.

"Are you sure? You're gonna work on this all night?" She asked as nodded.

"You bet! I want this to come out as soon as it can!" He said.

"You don't have to stay up to make this Reki. You can continue it in the morning." Langa said practically worried his friend won't be getting any sleep but Reki shook his head.

"Eh I am too excited to even fall asleep so I'll be fine. You two go on ahead. Don't want your families to worry." He told us.

They both bid their goodbyes to Reki along with a quick goodbye to his parents and his sisters as they made their way out of Reki's house and went on their ways home side by side.

The walk home was pretty quiet. Kaho knew it wasn't his first time being alone with Langa and it was pretty much their second time. Normally she would walk home alone but consideirng she has friends, this pretty much changed so she pondered over what to talk about with him so the walk home isn't all awkward and quiet.

"So Kaho... You said you started to skateboard at the age of four right?" Langa asked the short pink haired girl beside him as she looked at him and nodded.

"Yep! What about it?" She asked the curious boy.

"What brought out your interest in wanting to skateboard in the first place?" He asked her practically curious.

"I always saw my brother skateboarding since I was three. It looked pretty fun so I wanted to give it a try. My brother helped me practice it at the age of four. I'll be honest with you and say that I fell a lot." Kaho said laughing lightly to herself at the memories.

"You never gave up until you got it right huh?" He asked as she nodded.

"Yep! I was able to land my first ollie in a month. My brother was pretty happy with it." Kaho said letting out a sigh.

"That's really impressive. Skateboarding is pretty amazing." Langa said as Kaho giggled at the boy's eagerness.

"Yep I know! I am really glad that I was able to learn it as soon as I could. My mum was pretty scared that I would get hurt severely but my brother would always reassure her that I would be fine which was true." She said looking up at the starry night sky.

"What about you dad? Did he have a say in it?" The blue haired boy asked her.

At the mention of her dad, Kaho became silent and looked away from blue-haired male. It wasn't much of a touchy subject but she never really wanted to talk about him with anyone. Langa noticed her quietness and realized that he might have triggered a touchy subject.

"Sorry if I brought up a touchy subject..." He said quickly apologizing as Kaho looked at him and shook her head.

"It's fine Langa. You didn't know. The truth is... My father was never in the picture after I was born. I only had my mom and my brother to take care of me. My father left me a month before I was born. I could care less about him really..." She explained as Langa looked at her with a saddened expression.

It did shock him to learn that her father left someone as sweet, kind and determined girl like her. It shocked him to imagine his father leaving him like that. He felt bad for Kaho but she seemed to not really care so he dropped it.

"I'm sorry about that..." He said apologizing again.

"Again, it's not your fault or anything. It just shows that he didn't care much so I don't care either." She said letting out a huff and Langa stayed quiet as they both continued walking.

The rest of the walk was pretty awkward but the silence wasn't a bad kind of awkward but it wasn't pretty good either. Langa glanced at Kaho, observing her features. It wasn't visible but the street lamps were enough to illuminate her face which looked like she was in a world of her own.

"She's really pretty..." The thought made cheeks feel warm as he looked away.

He clutched his heart, feeling it beat but not for skateboarding but for something else. Was it because of Kaho. He shook the thought and saw that they had already reached his home.

"This is my stop." He told the girl who halted beside him.

"Woah. That was quick. My house isn't so far from here. I can walk the rest of the way alone." She told him but Langa wasn't so sure.

"Are you sure?" He asked her as she nodded, looking at the worried male.

"I'll be fine don't worry." She told her and right at that moment, they heard another voice.

"Langa?" They turned to look at the door to his house which was open and a middle aged woman was standing there.

"Hello Mrs. Hasegawa!" The pink haired girl said greeting the woman with a small wave.

"Oh! You must be one of my son's friend. It's so nice to meet you uh..." She said trailing off since she wasn't aware of her name.

"Oh my name is Kaho." The pink haired girl introduced herself.

"Ah! I remember my son mentioning you. Also it's really late. Would you like to stay over? We don't mind having you over." Her mother said but Kaho shook her head.

"It's fine Mrs. Hasegawa. My house is not far from here plus I already told my brother I would be coming home soon." She said to the woman as she sighed nodding.

"Alright. I'll give you two sometime to say your goodbyes for now." She said giving us a smile before walking back to the house.

"Well I'll see you tomorrow at Reki's yeah?" Kaho asked looking back at the blue haired male who slowly nodded his head.

"Yeah." He answered her.

"Alright. Then I'll take my leave for now." She said turning around and before she could leave, she heard him call out.

"Wait!" Langa said as Kaho stopped in her tracks and looked at him.

"Yeah? Is there something yo-" Langa interrupted her by engulfing her into a hug which caught the short girl by surprise.

"Um... what's the hug for?" She asked slightly confused at the Langa's gesture.

"You looked like you needed one..." He said even though he's not the one to give them. Kaho stayed still at those words before hugging back and smiling.

"Thank you." She said pulling away after a while as she picked up her skateboard.

"I should get going now." She told him, turning around.

"Yeah, right." He said as his eyes didn't leave her figure.

"Alright See ya tomorrow!" She said skating down the road, leaving the blue haired male alone as he smiled in the distance.

"You too..." He said as he felt his heart beat yet again while he turned towards his house and went inside.

Tomorrow was going to be another day of skateboarding and trying to get an ollie right.

❅ ╤╤╤╤ ❀ ╤╤╤╤ ❅

Kaho's Point of View~

Langa practiced day after day on the new board that Reki personally made for him. It looked pretty cool from the skateboards I have seen and even though Langa was not fond of the design it did look pretty neat to say the least.

We pretty much trained at school, at the skatepark, during breaks at school and pretty much whenever we got the time to do so. He did learn to do an ollie while standing on it but it wasn't while moving.

Right now, me and Reki were observing Langa, trying to do an Ollie while moving. Luckily, I didn't have to go to work today and the sun was slowly setting down which meant it was gonna be night time soon. I looked over at langa who was moving his board and tried to do an Ollie, only to slip and fall on the ground a bit hard.

"Are you okay?" Reki asked coming to him as I ran behind him.

"Ouch!" Langa said, picking himself and then I noticed that he has injured his hand.

"Huh! Blood! I am bleeding to death! Oh no!" Langa said panicking as we looked at him dumbfounded.

"You're overreacting." Reki said and that was when he had passed out making me worried.

"Langa!" I said going over to help him.

Luckily he woke up and we brought him over to the bench as I bandaged his hand but made sure to clean the blood before doing so. I didn't want him to pass out from bleeding again.

"I'm sure snowboarders bleed sometimes too right?" Reki asked as I finished patching him up.

"Hardly ever. We get bruises or broken bones." Langa explained as Reki huffed.

"So weird because for skaters it's totally a rite of passage. The more you bail, the better you get. So keep my bailing my friend!" He said grabbing his shoulder.

"Yeah but don't kill yourself in the process." I said leaning back a little as Reki grabbed his shoulders.

"Don't act like you don't bail." Langa said before a smile stretched onto his face.

"But then... snowboarders pretend they're perfect as well." He said as I stared at him and then at the setting sun.

"So uh... what brings you back to Okinawa? Did your parents get new jobs here?" I heard Reki asking him as I looked in their direction but Langa stayed quiet for a bit before answering.

"My dad passed away..." Langa said flatly as Reki gasped at the new information while I looked at him sadly.

"My mom needed the comfort of her hometown and I came with her to get a job and help with income." Langa said.

"I'm sorry..." Reki looked at him for a few moments before turning to face the sun.

I looked at him, feeling sad as I scooted a little closer to him and put a hand on his shoulder and gave him a small smile as he looked at me and gave me a small smile. That was enough for me to know he was okay for now.

"Are you bored out here?" Reki asked as I let go off Langa who turned to his side to look at the redhead.

"I mean it doesn't snow. You can't hit the slopes."

"Oh right..." Langa paused before speaking again.

"Well after my dad died, I didn't snowboard in Canada either." He said looking at the ground quietly.

The fact that he didn't snowboard after his dad died, reminds me of how I didn't skateboard for a while after my mum passed away. She was my best friend and before I knew it, she was gone. After that, I moved in with Kaoru since he was the only family member who was legal enough to take care of me.

My train of thought was broken when I saw Langa slowly get up from the bench, which made both me and Reki look at him slightly confused.

"But... After getting on a board again... I can say..." He spoke looking at the board he adjusted with one before pushing his other foot to make him move.

"Right now..." With that he pushed the back of the deck, flying up along with the board.

"I'm having fun!" He said and with that he had managed to do his first ever ollie.

He looked majestic while doing so. The lighting from the setting sun was perfect the same way he had his beef with Shadow. I gasped at the fact that he managed to pop his first ollie and so was Reki.

"Yeah!" Reki cheered as I stood up.

"Go Langa!!" I said cheering him and before I knew it he fell on his back but that didn't matter.

"Tell me, howzit feel to nail your first ollie?" Reki asked kneeling down next to him.

"It feels pretty amazing..." He said as I helped him up.

"Hell yeah." Reki said putting his hand up as Langa looked at him before attempting to give him a high-five and fist bump only to hurt his hand a little.

Langa then looked over at me. I smiled and wrapped my arm around his neck and gave him a hug which probably took him by surprise.

"Good job Langa. I am happy you did it." I told him, letting him go after a bit.

I guess I shocked him with the gesture but nonetheless he grinned at, enjoying the moment with us all.
