Fallout

Over the last couple of days, Aaron and Sam stayed with Steve, who was still unconscious.

Sam opted to play Marvin Gaye's Troubleman soundtrack while he and Aaron wait for Steve to wake up.

Steve: On your left.

They turn to Steve and smile.

Meanwhile

Natasha was at Capitol Hill, testifying what happened at the Triskelion.

Committee Member 1: Why haven't we yet heard from Captain Rogers or The Flash?

Natasha: I don't know what there is left for either of them to say. I think the wreck in the middle of the Potomac made their point fairly eloquently.

Committee Member 1: Well, either of them could explain how this country is expected to maintain its national security now that both they, as well as yourself and Agent Barbara Morse, have laid waste to our intelligence apparatus.

Natasha: HYDRA was selling you lies, not intelligence.

Committee Member 1: Many of which you seemed to have had a personal hand in telling.

Committee Member 2: Agent, you should know that there are some on this committee who feel, giver your service record, both for this country and against it, that you belong in a penitentiary. Not mouthing off on Capitol Hill.

Natasha: You're not gonna put me in a prison. You're not gonna put any of us in a prison. You know why?

Committee Member 2: Do enlighten us.

Natasha: Because you need us. Yes, the world is a vulnerable place, and yes, we help make it that way. But we're also the ones best qualified to defend it. So, if you want to arrest me, arrest me. You'll know where to find me.

Having said enough, Natasha gets up and walks out of Capitol Hill with a small grin on her face.

Timeskip

Aaron, Steve, and Sam were standing in Fury's gravestone.

???: So, you've experienced this sort of thing before.

They turn to see Fury, wearing a hoodie and sunglasses instead of his iconic eyepatch, standing next to them.

Steve: You get used to it.

Aaron: Doesn't make it any easier, though.

He still remembers seeing his father's gravestone for the first time right after his funeral.

Fury: Yeah...We've been data mining HYDRA's files. Looks like a lot of rats didn't go down with the ship.

Aaron: (sighs) Of course, they didn't.

Fury: I'm headed to Europe tonight. Wanted to ask if you'd come.

Steve: There's something I got to do first.

Fury: (turns to Aaron) O'Connor?

Aaron: I figured espionage isn't my cup of tea, so no.

Fury: (turns to Sam) How about you, Wilson? Could use a man with your abilities.

Sam: I'm more of a soldier than a spy.

Fury: Alright, then.

He puts his hand out, and Sam shakes it first, followed by Aaron, then Steve.

Fury: Anybody asks for me, tell them they can find me (gestures to the gravestone) right here.

He walks away from the trio.

???: You should be honored. That's about as close as he gets to saying thank you.

They turn to see Natasha and Bobbi walking towards them, with the forming carrying a file.

Steve: Not going with him?

Natasha & Bobbi: No.

Steve: Not staying here.

Bobbi: Eh, I have a very reason to stay.

She says looking at Aaron, who smiles in response.

Natasha: Not me, though. I blew all my covers, I gotta go figure out a new one.

Aaron: (chuckles) Knowing you, Nat, you probably have at least three of those in your back pocket already.

Natasha: (laughs) Okay.

But there was something troubling Aaron over the last few days.

Aaron: Y'know what's weird though? Not once over the last few days did I hear anyone talk about me being The Flash, either of you what's up with that?

Natasha and Bobbi look at each before turning to Aaron.

Natasha: Right before we uploaded all of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s files onto the internet, we deleted everything they had on you, The Flash, and everything that might connect the two together.

Aaron: (widens his eyes) What?!

Bobbi: Look, I know you said you'll deal with the fallout later, but...you've dealt with that once already, and you lost your dad because of it. I couldn't let you go through something like that again, so I talked to Fury and Nat about it, and they agreed to it.

Aaron didn't know what to say to that. He doesn't know if he should thank her for protecting him and his family by doing so, or tear her a new one for going against his wishes.

Ultimately, he decided on the first option.

Aaron: Thank you. I guess I owe you one.

Bobbi: (smiles) You don't owe me anything. You don't owe anyone anything.

Natasha: (nods then turns to Steve) That thing you asked for, I called in a few favors in Kiev.

She hands Steve a file.

Natasha: Will you do me a favor? Call that nurse.

Steve: She's not a nurse.

Natasha: And you're not a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. (turns to Aaron) Neither of you are.

Steve: (chuckles) What was her name again?

Natasha: Sharon. She's nice.

She and Steve looked at each other before Natasha kissed Steve's cheek.

She then turned to Bobbi and nodded to her, and Bobbi nodded back. Natasha began walking away from them.

Natasha: Be careful, Steve...

She stops walking and turns around to face Steve.

Natasha: You might not want to pull that thread.

She continued walking away from the four as Steve opened the file, and the first thing the four saw was a picture of Bucky in what appears to be a cryogenic chamber.

Aaron and Bobbi both knew that Steve will try to find him, and they both wanted to help. But Aaron still had a city to look after as The Flash, and Bobbi just wanted to be there for him.

They bid Steve and Sam farewell and began to walk away from the two, But Aaron stopped to face them.

Aaron: Hey, Cap, Sam.

Steve and Sam looked up from the file and looked at Aaron.

Aaron: If either of you need help with Barnes, don't hesitate to call me.

Steve: (looks at Sam, then at Aaron) We'll keep that in mind.

Sam: (smirks) See you around, Roadrunner.

Aaron: (chuckles) See you around, Tweety.

He turns around and walks away with Bobbi.

Aaron: You know, we still haven't gone on that date.

Bobbi: (chuckles) You got a place in mind?

Aaron: (smirks) As a matter of fact, I do. It's kind of a surprise, though.

Bobbi laughs as she and Aaron walk to Aaron's car.

They get in and Aaron starts the engine before connecting his phone to the car's stereo and played his playlist on shuffle.

[There should be a GIF or video here. Update the app now to see it.]

Bobbi almost immediately recognized the song.

Bobbi: (chuckles) Didn't think you listen to Linkin Park.

Aaron: (laughs) Come on, Linkin Park woke me up from the coma 5 years ago. Besides, I listen to a bit of everything.

Aaron just drives off to wherever he's taking Bobbi for their date.

(A/N: Stop the music)

A week later
Los Angeles, California

Aaron received a text from Gwen, asking him to meet her at her apartment.

He arrives there and sees Gwen and Jimmy waiting for him.

Aaron: I got your text, where's the fire?

Gwen: (chuckles) There's no fire, Aaron. Just something I wanted to tell you and Jimmy.

Jimmy: (confused) What is it?

Gwen: Okay. Uhhh...

Aaron and Jimmy look at Gwen in anticipation.

Gwen: Actually, now that I think about it...It's probably better that I uhhh...That I show you...

Before either of them could question her, Gwen just jumped to the ceiling, and what they saw shocked them both.

She was sticking to the ceiling like a spider.

Aaron: (shocked) You're the Ghost Spider?!

Gwen: Yeah. Pretty cool, right?

Aaron: Does your dad know about this?

Gwen: He figured it out about two weeks after I started.

She landed on the ground gracefully as both Aaron and Jimmy recovered from their shock.

Jimmy: So...My best friend...and my girlfriend...are both superheroes...

Aaron and Gwen looked at Jimmy, waiting to see where he's getting at before...

Jimmy: (mimics Jack Black in Nacho Libre) My life is good. Really good.
