A New Lineup

A month later
Upstate New York

The Avengers have relocated from The Avengers Tower in Manhattan to the new Avengers Compound in Upstate New York.

Clint had decided to retire after the events of Sokovia and spend some time with his family and his newborn child, Nathaniel Pietro Barton.

Gwen had decided to join the Avengers, but on two conditions: 1) She only acts as a freelance member, meaning that she can still patrol Los Angeles alongside Aaron, and 2) No one, except Aaron and Bobbi, would know her identity as the Ghost Spider.

Aaron and Bobbi have bonded with Pietro and Wanda, forming a sibling-like bond with the twins.

Aaron, Thor, Steve, and Tony were walking along the halls of the compound while talking about the fact that Vision can liftΒ MjΓΆlnir.

Steve: The rules have changed.

Tony: We're dealing with something new.

Aaron: Well, Vision is an A.I. in a vibranium body

Tony: A machine.

Steve: So it doesn't count?

Tony: No, it's not like a person lifting the hammer.

Steve: Right, different rules for us.

Aaron: I mean, he's a nice guy. Artificial, but nice nonetheless.

Steve: Thank you.

Thor: If he can wield the hammer, he can keep the Mind Stone. It's safe with the Vision. And these days, safe is in short supply.

Silence formed between the four of them before Steve broke it.

Steve: But if you put the hammer in an elevator...

Tony: It would still go up.

Aaron: Same with an escalator or a hot air balloon.

Steve: Elevator, escalator, and hot air balloon aren't worthy.

Thor: (puts his hand on Tony's shoulder) I'm going to miss these little talks of ours.

Tony: Not if you don't leave.

Thor: I have no choice. The Mind Stone is the fourth of the Infinity Stones to show up in the last few years. It's not a coincidence.

Aaron: You're saying somebody's after them?

Thor: (nods) I am.

The four exit the compound.

Thor: Someone has been playing an intricate game and has made pawns of us. And once all these pieces are in position...

Tony: Triple Yahtzee?

Steve: You think I can find out what's coming?

Thor: I do...(smacks Tony's chest) Besides this one, there's nothing that can't be explained.

Thor takes a few steps and nods to the other three before the Bifrost took him, leaving a marking burnt on the grass.

Tony: That man has no regard for lawn maintenance.

Aaron: Don't worry about it, just throw some fertilizer at it and you'll be fine.

Tony: (chuckles) I'm gonna miss him, though. And you two are gonna miss me. There's gonna be a lot of manful tears.

Tony's orange Audi R8 rolls up to them.

Steve: I will miss you, Tony.

Aaron: So will I.

Tony: Yeah? Well, it's time for me to tap out. Maybe I should take a page out of Barton's book. Build Pepper a farm, hope nobody blows it up.

Steve: The simple life.

Tony: (turns to Steve) You'll get there one day.

Steve: I don't know. Family, stability...The guy who wanted all that went in the ice 75 years ago. I think someone else came out.

Tony: (nods then turns to Aaron) What about you, kid? You looking for that kind of life with Bobbi?

Aaron: I think any chance of me having that went out the window 7 years ago. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

Tony nods before opening the car door.

Tony: You two alright?

Steve: (looks around) I'm home.

Aaron: I know what I'm meant to be, and I have every intention of being it.

Tony gets in the car and drives off as Aaron and Steve head back inside the compound.

They walk into a room and saw Natasha and Bobbi standing next to each other.

Steve: You two wanna keep staring at the wall, or do you wanna go to work?

Natasha and Bobbi turn to face Steve and Aaron.

Steve: I mean, it's a pretty interesting wall.

The two women walk towards Steve and Aaron.

Natasha: I thought you two and Tony were still gazing in each other's eyes.

Aaron: No, thanks. I got a lovely girlfriend right here.

Bobbi: (smiles then turns to Steve) Well, what have we got?

Steve: (hands Natasha a tablet) Well, we're not the '27 Yankees.

(A/N: Imagine Aaron and Bobbi walking with them)

Aaron: Or the '96 Bulls.

Natasha: We got some hitters.

Steve: They're good. They're not a team.

Bobbi: So let's make them one.

They open the doors and meets the new members of the Avengers.

James "Rhodey" Rhodes, aka War Machine.

Vision.

Sam Wilson, aka Falcon.

Wanda Maximoff.

Pietro Maximoff, aka Quicksilver.

Gwen Stacy, aka Ghost Spider.

Steve: Avengers...

(A/N: Still can't believe Joss Whedon essentially blue-balled us into waiting for 4 more years for Steve to finish that line.)

Timeskip

Aaron was wandering around the halls of the compound, but not without reason.

Ever since Sokovia, He was confused as to what he did in order to reverse time, and he needed answers.

Since Tony's out of the game, and Bruce went MIA, there was only one person who can give Aaron the answers he needs.

He looked around until he found who he was looking for walking out of Wanda's room, which he found weird, but decided not to question it.

Aaron: Vis.

Vision turns to see Aaron walking towards him.

Vision: Mr. O'Connor, what seems to be the problem?

Aaron: Okay first off, just call me Aaron. I'm only 19. Secondly, there's no problem, there's just something I'm curious about, and I'm hoping you could answer it.

Vision: Of course, ask away.

Aaron: Okay. Let's say, hypothetically, I wanted to...reverse time. How fast do I need to run to do that?

Vision: That's...an odd question.

Aaron: I know, just...humor me, please?

Vision: Well, in order to achieve such a feat, you have to run faster than the speed of light.

Aaron: Wait, wouldn't time dilation be a big problem?

Vision: You would be correct to assume so. However, you can cancel out the effect by running far beyond the speed of light.

Aaron: Alright. Thank you, Vision. Good night.

Vision: Good night, Aaron.

Aaron walks back towards his room and puts on his headphones

He sits down on his bed, already having the answers he needs.

Running far beyond the speed of light.

That's how Viktor Phillips went back 90 years from the future.

That's how Aaron saved Pietro.

He was tempted to see if he can go back and save his father from getting killed, but he remembered what happened when Viktor went back.

He got wiped from existence.

Is it really worth the risk for Aaron to bring his father back if he won't get to experience it?

No. No, it is not worth it.

That's when Aaron made a rule that he would force himself to live by, aside from no killing.

DON'T GO FTL!!!

(A/N: Stop the music)

New York City

Aaron was in a warehouse and saw several women wearing tactical suits of some kind dead on the floor.

???: Thought you operated on the West Coast.

Aaron smirks, knowing who it is.

Aaron: Well, I pulled a thread there, and it led me here.

He turns to see a man in a dark red suit with horns on his helmet.

Aaron: Nice to meet the Devil of Hell's Kitchen in the flesh.

Daredevil: Yeah, likewise, Flash.

The look look around the scene when Aaron saw a red stain on the floor, and it wasn't blood.

Aaron: Hey, Daredevil, over here!

Daredevil walks up to Aaron and "smelled" the stain.

Daredevil: Smells like it came from a synthetic gas of some kind.

Aaron: Yeah, question is, what the hell is it?

He looked at the bodies and saw that ALL of them had some bracelets on their wrists.

Similar to the ones Natasha uses.

Aaron: And what were those women up to here?
