"amane-kun, let's take a picture together." [name] waves her camera at amane after taking enough pictures of the sunflower field. "the sunflowers look so tall, they're even taller than you and me."

"the difference is that you're shorter than me [name]."

"oh hush, just because you had a growth spurt in middle school doesn't mean you have to diss me like that."

"but you're still cute."

"i—" [name] pouted her lips as a slight blush appeared on her cheeks. amane never runs out of things to say that would make her fluster, almost as if he was being flirty with her. amane stood in front of the sunflowers, [name] puts down the camera to set the timer and quickly running next to amane. "okay—smile!"

"wow, these sunflowers are so tall and pretty." [name] touched the green stems of the sunflowers, admiring the vibrant colors of yellow and brown of the flower. she grinned—unbeknownst to her that amane had stolen a photo of her. "what are you taking a picture of amane? the sunflowers?"

but amane just smiled. "something even more prettier than just the sunflowers." then he went to look around the pathway that leads to the highest point of the hill, you can almost see the sea wall and the sparkling waters to the beach.

"amane-kun!" [name] called her bestfriend who just picked up a sunflower from the fields. "i've taken a lot of pictures, i think we should go home now—the sun is about to set."

"wait stay still...!"

"eh?"

amane went closer to [name] as he tucked the sunflower that he picked up between the strands of her hair. "there, it suits your clothes—well, technically it suits you." he charmingly grins at her. [name] brushed the soft petals using her fingertips, she smiled and a red blush filled her cheeks.

"thank you, amane-kun." [name] said, putting her hands behind her back. "i have something to tell you, can you lean down a bit?" she asked with a sheepish smile since he has to lower himself down to whisper something to his ear. amane did as he was told, and what happens next is that [name] presses her lips against his cheek.

"alright, we should go home now." [name] turned back at him as her whole face turned red once she walked ahead of him. 'why did i do that?—' she mentally scolded herself.

amane's face was filled with shades of vermilion, he could hear his heart pounding inside his chest, and a breath escaped from his lips. he held his cheek where [name] presses a kiss on. 'doing like that is unfair you know...'

amane and [name] went to ride a train back home. it was only the two of them who are left in the cab. the sunset illuminating through the window of the train as it appeared in a pink and orange colors. "i had so much fun today, amane-kun." [name] smiled while checking the photos in her camera. "we have a hard time looking for the fields but alas, we found it together."

"we should go somewhere else too, like the two of us again." amane plugged in his earphones to his phone. "i like being with you, to be honest."

"i like being with you as well, amane-kun." a yawn escapes from her lips as [name] repeatedly blinked, she was getting tired and sleepy. amane puts an earphone on her ear while he inserts the other one to his ear so that they could listen together on their way home.

[name] falls against his shoulder, closing her eyes as she dozed off. amane took off his plaid shirt and wrapped it around her shoulders so she won't get cold, he was only wearing a white shirt as of now. he subtly held her hand, intertwining their fingers together.

amane smiled fondly, reaching over to tuck a loose strand of her hair behind her ear. he whispered as the moving train muffled his voice.

"i like you."

[name]'s eyes went wide at the sudden confession, just as she was about to fall asleep she overheard amane saying that he likes her. "amane-kun?"

"ah! nevermind—" amane moves away slightly from her, he covers his face using the back of his arm in embarrassment. "i thought you're asleep—!"

"you know it's unfair when you confess your feelings to me while i'm sleeping." [name] pouted. "but really? you like me?"

"i like—no, i love you." amane corrected as he felt the weight on his shoulders washed away like the waves against the shore. "for the longest time ever since we were friends..."

maybe that's why amane tagged along so that he can confess his feelings to [name]. "i planned to tell it to you but i guess you beat me to it." [name] chuckled. "i like you too."

"like? love-love?" amane's eyes sparkled as he moved closer to [name] to hear more.

"yeah, i love you amane-kun."

amane takes her hand with a soft smirk on his boyish visuals. "then, will you be my girlfriend?" he asked.

"of course—i'll go out with you..." [name] gave him a closed eye smile. amane tugged her closer by the hand to give her a hug, burying his head against her shoulder.

"i'm so glad..." amane sighed in relief as he hugged her close. "hehe, you're mine now." he giggled while nuzzling his face against her warm skin. [name]'s heart melted, amane looked so happy hugging her all to himself.

[name] took his phone to switch the song while amane is still holding her into his arms. [name] noticed the pictures in his gallery that were taken during his trip—and two of them were pictures of herself.

"is there something the matter, amane-kun?"

"i'm just taking a picture because i saw something pretty."

"what are you taking a picture of amane? the sunflowers?"

"something even more prettier than the sunflowers."

[name] pouted. "amane-kun, you cheesy flirt." she murmured when she realized what amane meant by taking a picture because he saw something pretty. he was taking a picture of [name].

the two teens chuckled, amane's eyes softened when he saw [name] covering her lips with her pointer finger as she giggled. "gosh, why are you so endearing..." he breathed out.

amane releases her from the hug, he threaded his fingers through her hair to cup her right cheek and held her chin. [name] thought that maybe she feels sleepy but she could feel that amane is tilting his head while leaning closer, his amber eyes glancing at her lips.

"[name] um, may i...?" he asked, staring at her lips. [name]'s eyes downcasts to his lips, giving him a small nod of affirmation that it is alright while tugging on his sleeve gently.

once he finally moved close enough, amane presses a soft kiss on [name]'s lips. they could feel the warmth of summer lingering against their lips. they both pulled away, only for [name] to shyly request for more. just one.

amane couldn't say no to that. his hand from her chin slid down to her waist to bring her close for another kiss. "i love you." he said before connecting his lips to her once again.

the fields of sunflowers by the sparkling waters under the clear blue sky and cumulonimbus clouds, there's nothing more warmer, than the sweet summer love that amane and [name] shared together.
