After jogging around the park and the beach at least ten times, she finally decided to take a break. Her heterochromatic hues landed on the starry night sky and she remembered she still had to meet a certain someone. She leaned back on the bench and pulled out her phone, she brought up Todoroki's number and began messaging him.

Safe to say, he was excited to see her again despite spending most of the day with her at school. No one knew and no one would ever know, but, he was constantly checking his phone for a message from her so when she'd messaged him first he was absolutely elated despite not showing it on his face. When he'd arrived at their meeting place, she was on the verge of falling asleep.
"Shouto..?" She mumbled out, an involuntary yawn escaping her lips as she turned to face the boy who'd sat beside her.
"Are you tired? We can continue this anoth—"
"Shhh, it's okay? You were going to say something before, continue now.. Don't mind me. I promise I'll be listening," she folded her arms and rested her head on his shoulder. "We knew each other, right?"
He nodded, "we were childhood friends, granted we were young but I never forgot you. You did though, but I don't blame you. I really don't. Your parents died and after your uh, new parents took you away, we lost contact. But those two and a half years with you meant everything to me." Todoroki looked up at the starry night sky, "when we were young, I remember you always smiling." He looked backed down at her and her eyes were half lidded causing him to smile softly. "We really can continue at another time."
"No, no.. Tell me more," she yawned and lifted her head from his shoulder. "You know we're not going to be able to talk in class without being teased and interrupted, my house is a no.." Kourin grabbed some flowers from the grass and using her elemental quirk, she began making a flower crown. "I'm starting to remember, it's coming back slowly. So tell me more."
Todoroki watched her intently, how her slender fingers weaved through the stems and subconsciously, his lips tugged upwards, "you used to do this when we were younger too, but they weren't very well made."
Kourin nudged him, a playful pout adorning her lips. "I was a kid back then," she simply stated and placed the finished flower crown upon his head. "And if I recall correctly, I only put flowers in your hair. Can I take a photo?" Before he couple reply yes, she'd already began taking photos on her phone. She must've taken at least a dozen in different positions before the half and half boy took her phone away, a light blush on his cheeks. "Fine, fine. I'll stop."
"I'm sorry about your parents," he said.
"It was years ago, no need to be sorry," she shook her head.
He saw the distinct look of sadness on her face before he continued. "Kou, what do you know about quirk marriages?"
"They're basically arranged marriages from what I know, I get the gist of it. There are still people that ask me if my parents' marriage was like that. But it wasn't," she shook her head. "Anyways, continue.."
"Endeavour, was always overshadowed by All Might and viewed as only second best, regardless of his impressive crime solving record.. He developed an obsession with surpassing All Might, to the point of forcing a quirk marriage upon Rei, my mother, in order to conceive a child with a quirk strong enough to be capable of surpassing All Might." As he told his story, he balled up his fists and ice began encasing his hand.
Kourin furrowed her brows and heated up her hand before intertwining their fingers together, the warmth of her hand preventing his hand from being completely frozen. "Shouto..."
"He was so proud when I was born, because it meant that he'd succeeded. This took place three years after we separated, I started to receive training from him because of my quirk. The training, it was too harsh and it forced me to cry and vomit. Mother would try to defend me, but he refused to listen and would even physically abuse her in front of me." When he glanced over at her, the expression on her face was hard for him to read and it was difficult for him to know what she was thinking but he couldn't help but deduce that the expression on her face meant that she'd experience something similar. "He prevent me from interacting with my older siblings, whilst they played, I trained. And I began to despise the training he put me through and I resented my father for abusing me and my mother," he gave her hand a squeeze, the warmth radiating from the brunette's hand comforted him.
"I'm sorry Shouto, I wish I could've been there for you." She uttered softly.
"She would always be there to support me, but, what could you expect from someone who was abused all the time? She broke down from the constant domestic abuse and she found it painful to even look at my left side because it reminded her of him." He'd never opened up about this to anyone, he hated reminiscing on the past, but he wanted to tell her. "One day, I heard her on the phone. Clearly she was shocked by my appearance, and after she saw my left side, she snapped and threw boiling water over my face, giving me a burn over my left eye. She immediately regretted it and, in tears, tried to heal me using her ice powers. I could never blame her. He had her sent away, and I blamed him. Everything was his fault. But you know, all this time. Your words kept me going. I hope you know that."
After that, they sat comfortably in silence for a little while and naturally, after hearing his story the brunette no longer felt sleepy. Todoroki didn't know that and he kept glancing over at her to make sure she wasn't asleep, maybe it was just an excuse to look at her. To her, Endeavour was a hero and she looked up to all heroes, thanks to her parents. But after hearing about him from Shouto, she wasn't sure she even liked him anymore. How could she?
"I know it's in the past, but I'm sorry you had to go through that Shouto. I'm sorry for what happened to you. I guess, I should tell you about my shitty step parents then." Kourin had only ever told Midoriya and All Might, he'd be the third person to know. "Where do I begin? Right," she clasped her hands together, "after my parents died. Their deaths made me more determined to become a hero. As you know, a couple volunteered to take me in claiming they were distant relatives but, I couldn't have had a worse couple take care of me. They were terrible and none more so than my so called father, Kinto, you see, he had a fairly useless quirk that'd been passed onto him from his mother and he took his frustrations out on me. And my 'mother' was no help. He beat me every time he was drunk, which was practically everyday, and Ami, did nothing but watch. Eventually, I found out about the money they were receiving from taking care of me, the daughter of two famous pro heroes, after that the beatings only got worse."
Todoroki's brow creased even further as he listened to her and he noticed that her grip on his hand had loosened whilst the tone of her voice had lost all emotion. To him, it seemed like she was tired and that she was waiting for it to end.
"When I'd finally got my quirk, he started using weapons, knives and such. Once I'd finally got the hang of my quirk, I ran away from home well, not really, but I avoided going home. I don't know if it was the lack of seeing my face or if it was just him, but, Kinto beat me even more when he saw me. There was a silver lining though, Chisa and Adan Watanabe, they showed me kindness that I'd not been shown in awhile. They gave me hope.." Using her other hand, she ran her fingers over the scar on her face. "I became best friends with Izuku and Katsuki, I was always with them or with Chisa or with Adan.. But eventually I always had to go back to the hell I called home," she'd told him everything about her parents and her situation, it was more than she'd told Bakugo at least.
"They did that to you?" Todoroki breathed out, motioning to her scar.
Kourin nodded, "about ten months ago, but uh, it somehow still hurts. We're quite a pair, aren't we?"
"Quite," he gave her hand a squeeze. "Have you told Bakugo, or Midoriya yet?"
"I've already told Izu, it was the angriest I've ever seen him but Katsuki, I can't.. He'll get so mad, I don't know what he'll do," she gritted her teeth and turned to face him. "You can't tell him, okay? You can't tell anyone."
"Okay," he nodded.
She looked into his eyes, "promise me."
"I promise."

When she'd let go of his hand, he instantly missed the warmth she provided him and the feeling of their hands laced together, he liked it, a lot. He wasn't one to voice his inner thoughts though. Todoroki treasured their time together, he just took it in and the scent of her cinnamon shampoo filled his nose whilst thoughts of her filled his mind.
"Let's stay out here for a bit. Uh, but not too late. We have school tomorrow." Kourin told him and hooked their arms together, resting her head on his shoulder. "This has been nice.. Being here with you.. I think I missed you more than I realised Shouto," she told him, closing her eyes.
"I missed you too." He muttered, but she'd already fallen asleep. Normally he would've felt cold, but with her by his side, he felt nothing but warmth.
They stayed like that for two more hours before the half and half boy realised that she wasn't going to wake up anytime soon, he brought himself to take her back to her house, the house she deemed her real home. It wasn't hard to find, especially since he looked through her wallet for her address. If it were any other situation, he wouldn't have done so.
When Adan opened the door, he was expecting to see his daughter but instead, he saw his daughter in another man's arms. It was a shock for him, despite the fact that the boy was wearing a flower crown on his head. He had a serious expression on his face but he could see in his eyes that he cared about her, so he couldn't bring himself to hate the young boy, he'd brought back his daughter safe and sound after all. "Chisa's asleep, but she'll be pleased to know she's safe. Thank you, uh.."
"Shouto." He introduced and once the door closed, he slowly made his way home. Todoroki took the flower crown off his head and froze it, wanting to keep it as a memento of their meeting.
