Chloe
Joe was supposed to be home hours ago. I was in a state of panic and I couldn't get ahold of him. Calling him? It went straight to voicemail. This wasn't like my husband. I had no other choice but to call Joe's family, and even his workplace.

"What's going on, Chloe?" Jonathan asked.

"Jonathan. Have you heard from Joe?"

"No? We all just seen each other earlier before we headed back home awhile ago. Well, Joe said that he had a cleared-off schedule for awhile after SmackDown and he told my brothers and I that he was heading back to Toronto to spend time with you and Alani, Uce."

"Are you fucking kidding me?" I said.

Jonathan's demeanor dropped, "Hey now. Are you good?"

"No, I'm not!" I choked up, "I'm sorry for snapping at you. Joe hasn't come home. He won't answer my calls or texts. He should've been home hours ago. Something's wrong, Jonathan! Because he wouldn't just disappear from the face of the earth for no reason."

"Okay, let's calm down. We're all here for you." Joseph added while they were all inside of the vehicle together.

"I appreciate it. I'm gonna call Hunter and see if he knows anything."

"We'll be on the way to your place, by the way. We ain't far, so we'll drive down there." Josh added.

I was quick to call up Hunter and he picked up a few seconds later.

"Hunter? Are you there?"

"Yeah, is everything alright, Chloe? You never call."

"Listen, I know Joe left work not too long ago; and I haven't seen or heard from him. He was supposed to come home after SmackDown ended. When did he leave?"

"Honestly, I think he left right after SmackDown went off the air. The last time I seen him, he was talking with his cousins and then saying he was coming back to you and your daughter; which congratulations, by the way. But if nothing comes up about Joe, I'll get to the bottom of it myself."

"Alright. Thank you so much and I hope he's okay."

I hung up with Hunter and I went to message Emma straight away that she needed to babysit Alani. I tried to hold my composure until she arrived. I was sitting on the floor with my hands anxiously running down my hair and almost close to lying in a fetal position.

"I'm here, girl." Emma said as she swung the door open, "Is Joe okay?"

"I don't know! Everyone's worried and I hope he's doing okay." My stomach began to turn, "I have a bad feeling that something has happened and his cousins are coming to pick me up. We're heading over to some of the police stations to see if they know what's happening."

"Oh my God, Chloe." She says, looking at me with concern, "I hope that Joe is alright. I mean, everything was literally perfect with you two before he went back on the road. I'm worried, too. I haven't talked to Fergal in awhile either, but he and Joe don't work on the same brand together."

Emma reeled me into a hug while I started to sob in her arms, "I'm here, Chloe. Take a deep breath and calm down. I'll watch the baby when you guys take off and find out about Joe's sudden whereabouts."

"I appreciate you so much, Emma." I said, looking back at my daughter who was sitting in her little baby rocker, "Mommy's going to go look for daddy, alright? Auntie Emma will be watching you for awhile."

I kissed the top of Alani's head and gathered some essentials inside of my purse before all three of Joe's cousins made their way over towards the house. After a few minutes passed, they finally arrived over to the house and allowed me to sit in the passenger's seat.

"You good, Uce?" Josh asked, "You look like you're about to pass out."

"Yeah." I lied as I couldn't control my breathing, "I'm just fine."

"No you ain't." Josh shook his head, "We're about to take off to the nearest police station. I'm sure that they have some news about Joe because this ain't like him to disappear."

"It really isn't." I sobbed, "I just want my husband."

"I know, girl. I know." Joseph added.

Jonathan pulled the brakes and he sped down the roads without stopping. We were all scared for Joe; not knowing what was happening. We were all worried about him and why he wasn't talking to anyone.

We made it towards the Toronto Police Department and walked inside to the front office.

"Who are you guys?" Asked a lady at the front desk.

"Josh, Jonathan, and Joseph Fatu and this is Chloe Anoa'i. She is the wife of our cousin, Joe Anoa'i."

"I see." The lady at the front office replied, "Crazy coincidence because there was a sudden report about him that took place almost close to Canada. He was said to be taken down to the Toronto General Hospital."

"No..." I said, "Is he okay?"

"Well, there's no uncertainity of what happened; but he was rushed to the hospital after someone found him on the side of the road."

All four of us stood at the front office with shock and despair written on our faces.

"Thanks for letting us know." I say, before taking off with Joe's cousins and speeding our way towards the hospital.

It took roughly ten minutes from the Police Department to the Toronto General Hospital. We all busted through the doors and demanded to know where Joe's room number was located.

"We need to know where Joe Anoa'i is located. We are his cousins and this is his wife. We heard he was admitted here?"

"Ah, yes." One lady said, "We'll escort you four towards the room." She paused, "However..."

The lady was then cut off by another doctor who had a ton of smudged blood on his gloves. He looked at us with sorrow and was wearing a white surgical mask around his mouth.

"Are you the wife of Mr. Anoa'i?"

My heart dropped.

"Yes, yes I am. Is everything okay?"

"I'll explain more when we arrive to his room. Follow me."

I was close to feeling my knees beginning to buckle from anxiety. I was panicking and had to control myself as we all walked down the hallway before making our way into the room. Before I fell to my knees, Jonathan and Josh were quick to assist me on the way to Joe's room.

"Chloe, it's gonna be alright." Joseph said.

I trailed behind the doctor before making my way into a room to seeing Joe laying inside of a hospital bed with equipment surrounding the entire room. My heart began to drop at the sight. Joe laid there with a breathing mask over his mouth and nose, his arms had IV sedatives hooked into them, and there was blood all over his face and body.

I charged towards Joe's bed and slowly, but gently shook his shoulder in attempt to wake him up from his slumber.

"Joe? Joe? Baby, wake up..."

All three of Joe's cousins couldn't believe their eyes after seeing their cousin in this condition. It was to the point where they covered their faces and attempted to hide away their tears.

"Man, what the fuck happened, Uce?" Josh asked.

"I...I don't know."

"Allow me to explain." The doctor said as he cleared his throat, "Mrs. Anoa'i, I hate to inform you, along with his family, about this tragic news, but your husband was fatally shot. Unfortunately, it's not looking too good from here and we think he's not going to make it."

"What?" I choked up, "No! I refuse to believe that my husband is dying. He can't be!"

"No, man!" Josh said, slamming his fist against the wall, "God dammit! I can't lose my 'cuz like this!"

"Isn't there anything you can do for him, Uce? That's my cousin laying in the middle of this damn bed!" Jonathan shouted at the doctor, who stood there in a trance.

"You have to be fucking around with our heads, Doc." I choked up, "No, this has to be some sick joke. It's all a disgusting and vile joke, right?"

The doctor shook his head, "I would never make jokes about these matters, Mrs. Anoa'i. If I was joking, I would have laughed; but I'm not. We don't think your husband is going to make it. The wounds are so fatal to where the bullet almost shot right through his heart. Crazy enough, it went straight through his ribcage instead. His body isn't responsive to some of the things we've tried hooking into his arms and he's been laying like this for a couple of hours, now."

I lowered my head in defeat, thinking the worst was about to happen and I wanted everyone out of my sight. They were all on the verge of tears, and while I looked down at my husband; with whom was in a horrible state, the song "Slip Away" by Ruelle started to play throughout my head.

"Listen everyone, I need to be left alone with my husband."

"We understand, Uce. We'll be outside the door if you need us." Jonathan said with tears beginning to form in his eyes, "Man, I can't watch this right now..."

While everyone was leaving the room and standing outside of the door, I stayed at Joe's bedside. His eyes were still closed and his breathing began to decrease. My heart began to drop once more at the heartbreaking sight.

"Please, don't let this be the end, Joe. We haven't had the chance to live the life we always dreamt of. We still have yet to accomplish so much. We have our little girl waiting at home and she needs both of her parents to help guide her all throughout life. You're everything to me. You're my husband, the love of my life, the person that saved me."

He remained in the same state. His beard was ruffled with blood mixed in, his hair was tangled and his face was still bloody.

"I..."

Before I could say that I loved him, the heart monitor started with a long, continuous beep.

"No! Joe! Please don't die on me...I love you." I sobbed, "I can't live without you."

After a minute passed, I continued to scream out in agony until I realized that the heart monitor started to become active once again. He started breathing. He was fighting for his life and I couldn't stop pacing around the room in freight.

I sniffled, "Please, keep fighting."

After Joe's heart had stopped at first, I noticed that he was trying to move his arms towards the railing of the hospital bed and it surprised me. This man was really fighting for his life and not just for his family, but for me and Alani, too.

"Ch-Chloe?" He says, struggling to speak.

"Babe? It's me. Are you okay?"

His eyes slightly opened and he attempted to smile, but he was still in excruciating discomfort.

"Listen. I...I was shot."

"But why?" I choked up.

"Dante's crew found me when I was on the way back home after I left SmackDown. They... They wouldn't let me leave. They threatened to kill me if I didn't admit to anything and they would've tracked you and Alani down..." He paused, "After I collapsed to the ground, I thought I died."

My head dropped in defeat, "You did."

"Wait...Really?" His eyes shot open.

"Yes, you died for a moment." I cried, "Your heart monitor was showing that you didn't have a heartbeat anymore; and it's a miracle that you came back to us, Joe."

Joe attempted to slightly chuckle and looked at me with a positive smile on his face, "Baby, I ain't going anywhere. My body is still in shock after being shot, but I..."

The doctor walked in the room and his eyes started to shoot open at the sight of Joe being fully conscious after hours of laying inside of the hospital bed and unconscious.

"What the? How can this be? I thought you were dying."

"I was, but I'm fighting for my life here. I can't leave my wife and daughter."

"I've never seen a patient so willing...and strong to recover from a bullet that was close to the heart!" He said, "I'm gonna get the nurse in here."

The doctor left the room, leaving Joe and I all to ourselves.

"So, the bullet almost pierced through your heart?"

"I guess so." He slightly smiled, "Remember when I said that I'd take a bullet for you? If it ever came down to it, that is."

I nodded, "I remember. But what happened?"

"Well, I did." He coughed, "Only because they were trying to come after you and our daughter. Dante's henchmen apparently found out everything when it came to me murdering Dante. They found his wallet laying inside of his back pocket and found my fingerprints on the abandoned revolver at your old home. They had somebody named Andrew another man gang-up on me. I thought my nose was broken, my face was busted open, and my throat still hurts." Joe said, "All that matters is that I killed them all. I killed every single one of his henchmen and they couldn't get to you or our daughter."

"Oh my gosh, Joe."

Before we continued to hold a conversation with one another, the doctor and a nurse rushed into the room; along with his cousins, and stood around the bed.

"I thought you were dead, 'cuz!" Josh said, rushing in to hold Joe in his embrace.

"I'm not going anywhere, Uce." Joe said as he started to cough uncontrollably and then looked back at his cousins and I with the warmest smile, "I love y'all."

"We love you too, Uce." Jonathan cried.

Joseph stood with us and was attempting to mask his emotions, but I noticed the single tear that started to fall from his face.

The nurse approached us with a shocked expression on her face, "I'm really sorry to break this small moment between you all, but we need to run some tests because this is an extremely odd phenonemon. Out of all my years as a nurse, I have never once seen anyone recover from something this deadly."

"We understand." I replied, "But what are you guys going to do?"

"Well, we may have to perform some more surgeries and see if he has any remaining bullets in his body."

"I don't think there is anymore bullets, but how long will he have to stay in the hospital?"

"That's for us to determine after examing his body. We think he has a few broken ribs and some fractures throughout his body. The bullet pierced through and shockingly didn't strike his heart. We're going to run some tests."

"That's fine. I just want everything to run smoothly. I can't lose my husband."

"We understand your concern, Mrs. Anoa'i. We'll do everything we can."

Joe looked over at me, "Babe, I know this is all frightening; but remember that we're gonna get through this, alright?"

I nodded, "We will."

"We need to perform the surgery to examine any part of his upper body to make sure that there isn't any fatal bullet wounds. We'll let you know when the surgery is completed."

"I'll be okay, Chloe." Joe said, attempting to smile, "I love you."

"I love you, too."

I left the room as they performed the surgery and walked alongside his cousins as we escorted ourselves to the cafeteria to make ourselves something to eat. We had yet to explain everything to Hunter, Emma, and even the rest of his family about the incident.

But the question is...

How did this happen so sudden? How did the henchmen even track down Joe's whereabouts after he left SmackDown? So many questions ran through my head.
