90.
After a few weeks came and went since I've been touring from show-to-show, I was more than excited to get some time with my family. Before I headed out of the arena and prepared for my trip back to Toronto, I approached my cousins with a smile that reached ear-to-ear.
"What's good, Uce?" I said.
"That was a great segment out there. I think the fans are going wild at the thought of The Bloodline crumbling. We all know it ain't going down like that behind the screen!" Josh said.
"Yeah. I'm about to head back home and see how Chloe and Alani are doing."
"Take care, man." Joseph added, "If you need us, don't hesitate to give us a call."
After an hour passed, I was driving back to the airport to catch a flight back to Toronto. I was relieved that I made my last appearance for awhile, and that I could finally have some time away from the ring to spend some time with my family. I was only a half hour away from the nearest airport and then suddenly, my body started to tremble while my hands were on the steering wheel and my heart began to anxiously race. Oh God, no...
No, no, no!
The area was darkened and quite eerie. Not even a single star was visable in the sky, nothing. I already started to feel the shivers tense down towards my spine and my body was starting to feel tensed up, making me feel immediately uncomforable.
Ultimately, I had a gut-wrenching feeling that something was about to happen. I knew from there, that I was preparing myself for what had yet to come. I was suddenly stopped by a handful of black and white vehicles with tinted windows that were surrounding me in the middle of the night in a circle formation. Oblivious to what was happening, I continued to drive; but the vehicles kept surrounding me one-by-one. They wouldn't let me escape.
I stepped out from the vehicle and scanned around the area in concern. It was dark, the air was crisp, and I noticed that a few shadows were beginning to emerge from a distance; making their way towards me.
"Who are you guys?" I asked.
One man scoffed as he stepped out of his vehicle, "Who are we? I think you should know."
Puzzled to what they were saying, I've never seen these people before in my life, "I honestly have no clue. I'm just trying to get back home to my family."
"Well, you're not going anywhere, Joe."
"How do you clowns know my name?"
"Well, you're the one who killed Dante, right?" A man with a raspy voice had asked.
My heart dropped after hearing about Dante. I haven't heard that name in awhile, and these other men must've been his henchmen. The question I wondered the most was... How the fuck did they find me? It's been almost two-years since I killed him. I remembered that night so clearly and it still sent shivers down my spine.
It all started back when I used to live with Chloe at her old house after my divorce with my ex-wife. The moment we returned back from a shopping trip together, my gut instinct was telling me to protect Chloe at all costs. I didn't know why I was feeling this way. Suddenly, we walked into the home that was dark and eerie. I had a bad feeling and things took a turn for the worst as we stumbled across a tallish man who emerged into the living room. We knew he had bad intentions right from the start.
"I was hired to kill you two, and I'm gonna take both of your asses out like I'm supposed to!" Dante yelled.
Dante was preparing to press the trigger to our bodies and before I could do anything about it, I watched as Chloe jumped in front of me and took the bullet to the chest. She sacrificed herself to save mine. From the very moment I seen a pool of blood surrounding her body; which I thought to be lifeless, I looked back at Dante who was still laughing at what happened.
"Y-You killed her." I stuttered, "You killed my wife!"
"Mission accomplished." He laughed, pointing the frame of the revolver towards my forehead, "Number one killed. Now, it's your turn to die!"
From there, I charged towards him and knocked the revolver down to the flooring and aimed the frame towards his forehead whilst pulling the trigger, I watched as the bullet pierced through his skull and then his lifeless body hit the ground in a pool of his own blood. He was dead.
I snapped out of my trance and looked over at the man who was standing right in front of me, "Who's Dante?" I lied, "I don't know who you're talking about."
"Don't play dumb with me, Anoa'i." Another man said, "We know all about you and your precious wife and daughter; and what you did nearly two-years-ago. I don't want to make things turn ugly between us, but you should either tell us the truth; or we're going to have to pay a small little visit to your family and demand answers from your wife." He chuckled.
My eyebrows began to furrow, "I don't want you people anywhere near my family."
Another man who walked over towards me and slowly pulled out a revolver from the side of his trenchcoat, "Tell us, and we won't kill you on sight."
"Who's to say that I killed Dante?"
"Do you play us for fools, Joe? We all know you killed him! It took us almost a year and a half to research out the evidence that you were the one who killed him. When we realized that he was dead after weeks of no contact, nobody knew that he was murdered at first. But somehow, we vaguely remembered that two people named Galina and Joshua hired him for three-grand to take you and Chloe out; but yet, you two are still alive." One man looked down, "We scavenged everywhere for your whereabouts, day in and day out. One day, we all made a small trip to the house that you and Chloe used to reside in; and we happened to notice the house was vacant and surrounded in yellow crime scene tape. We broke into the house and to our surprise, we found a dead body that was laid on the floor; covered in dried blood and was slightly decayed. The police didn't even bother to take Dante's lifeless body away. How we knew this was Dante, you ask? We happened to find his wallet inside of his pocket and seen his identification; then we noticed that the revolver he had contained fingerprints. We took the revolver back to our headquarters and scanned the fingerprints and guess what? We put two and two together and it identified your fingerprints. We know damn well you shot and killed our best hitman, Anoa'i."
I scoffed, "I'll admit it. Yes, I killed him. It was for a good reason, too."
"So you openly admit to the murder of Dante?"
"As a matter of fact, I do." My nose wrinkled and I looked into his eyes as they were full of rage, "I don't regret a single thing at all. He was a threat to me and my wife's safety and I took his ass out so fast that he couldn't even say a word before I shot him in the head."
"That's funny, because you just gave us all the proof we needed." He laughed, "Hey Andrew, come on out and meet the man who murdered Dante."
The man motioned his finger and I watched as someone who was taller than me in height stepped out from another vehicle and was approaching the both of us. He had more muscle strength and he looked like someone that you'd picture in your nightmares. Tall, broad on his shoulders, his beard was long and straggly. He looked like a man who was fresh out of prison and he looked at me, not breaking eye-contact.
"Oh, where are my manners? Allow me to introduce myself, Mr. Anoa'i." He grinned, "The name's Brian."
"I don't give a fuck who you are."
Before I could say another word, I was slammed down on the concrete by Andrew's overpowering force. He was too strong for me to handle as he had his hands wrapped around my throat. I started to feel the blood running down my mouth and seeping into my beard. I coughed and coughed uncontrollably as I squirmed and kicked around with my legs in attempt to escape his grasp, but to no avail.
While I struggled for over three minutes, I somehow managed to gain the strength to shove Andrew off of me. I charged as fast as I could over towards my Range Rover to grab out the revolver from the glovebox for self-defense before things escalated. I knew what I had to do and that was to kill off everyone before they could take me out.
I wasn't the one to kill, but when it came to the safety of my family and myself, I did whatever it took to make sure that they were safe and out of harms way. I would take a bullet for them, if I had to.
Thankfully, I stood my ground. I focused my range on every henchmen that Dante had hired and I kept pulling the trigger on every man in sight. When one man was shot down, I went after four more; until I felt another huge force of strength knock me to the ground, causing my revolver to fall out from my hands and sliding down towards Brian and Andrew, who were standing above me while my back was flattened on the concrete.
My face was covered in my own blood. My nose felt bruised, my body felt so frail and sore. I managed to stand on my feet once again and I wasn't going down without a fight. It didn't end from there because I wasn't going to allow anything to happen to my family.
Then I noticed that the frame of the revolver was close to my body. Before I could make a break for it, the gunshot went off and I fell down to the ground, feeling nothing but something piercing throughout my body as the force brought me to the ground.
Everything went black.
