75.
After two weeks came and went, we had an amazing time in Bora Bora. We snorkeled underwater, had a romantic dinner on a boat late at night, took some photos of the sunsets, and had a romantic getaway.
I didn't want this trip to come to an end, but there was plenty of memories that were made and that we'll forever cherish.
We were beginning to pack our belongings in the private resort before we boarded our flight back to Toronto. That is, until Chloe found a few of my shirts that were scattered all over the place.
She laughed, "You can be such a mess, Joe."
I laughed at her comment as we said our goodbyes to the private resort of Bora Bora before boarding our flight and traveling back home.
Boarding the plane, Chloe started to look tired as she laid back in the seat and she fell asleep during the entire flight. While I finally turned on my phone for the first time in awhile, I received a text from Colby.
Colby was an amazing friend. I was forever thankful that I had someone that I could also consider a brother alongside Jon. They've always been there for me, even after the passing of my brother from a few years ago.
When we made it home a few hours later, we arrived back to the house and unpacked everything in our bedroom.
"Hey Emma." I said.
"Hey guys! How was the honeymoon?"
"It was perfect. Chloe and I spent the entire time together, exploring the sights and also getting some opportunities to try out new things. Snorkeling, jet skiing, taking a romantic getaway on a boat late at night."
"Aww, you two are so cute together!"
"Thanks, girl." Chloe replied, "Thank you for watching Zeus for us."
"It was no problem!"
"Was he any trouble? Did he make any mistakes in the house or chew up any furniture?" I asked.
Emma shook her head, "Nope. He's been very obedient and went outside the doggy door to use the bathroom and he's been well-behaved about not teething on the furniture."
"That's amazing. He's growing up so fast already."
Thankfully, Zeus behaved for Emma and didn't cause a ruckus while we were gone for two weeks.
When Emma, Chloe, and I wrapped everything up, she headed back home and it was just Chloe and I all alone inside of the house with Zeus, who was looking at us and wagging his tail.
"Who's a good boy?" I said, running my hands through Zeus' fur as he started to wag his tail a lot faster in excitement.
Suddenly, Chloe started to look sickly in the face after our honeymoon. She sat down on the couch and had her hand placed over her face. Concerned, I looked back at her and approached her.
"Are you okay, honey?"
"Oh, yeah. I'm just not feeling so good tonight."
"You should get some rest baby. I'll take care of the house for you."
"Thank you..."
Before she could say another word, she rushed herself towards the bathroom and started to throw up nonstop.
Worried, I trailed behind her and noticed the door was still opened and I started to grow more concerned after hearing her sickly groans.
"Babe...Babe, I'm here."
I sat down behind Chloe and rubbed her back while I had a gentle grasp on her hair in the meantime. She was extremely sick and it terrified me.
"It's okay, baby."
"Joe, I can't stop. I feel terrible!"
It was an exhausting hour of continuous vomiting for Chloe. I believed that she developed some sort of food poisoning after our Bora Bora trip. Someone probably didn't cook their chicken properly or made sure everything was well-done on our orders.
Chloe
After a few days passed, I was starting to feel somewhat better after what transpired the moment we returned home from Bora Bora. While Joe was out and catching up with Colby and Jon, I heard knocking on the door and it was Fergal and Emma.
I opened the door and allowed them both to enter the house. While I seen their faces full of joy after last seeing me a week before the vacation, their smiles started to fade when they noticed that I wasn't feeling too well.
"Hey Chloe!" Fergal said, "How was the honeymoon?"
"It was fun and exciting. I had a lot..." I paused, "A lot of fun with Joe in Bora Bora."
"Are you alright?" Asked Emma.
"And where's Joe?" Fergal added.
"Honestly, I've been off and on with sickness ever since I came back home. Joe's been catering to me and he thinks I'm still resting in bed while he's with Jon and Colby."
Fergal and Emma looked over at each other for a moment before their sudden glance made its way back to me.
"Um Chloe..."
"Yeah?"
"I don't want to scare you or anything, but have you taken a pregnancy test lately?"
"What? No, I can't be pregnant."
"I don't know about that, Chloe. I recommend getting one." Emma said, "Actually, I'll make a quick run down to the pharmacy and pick up a few pregnancy tests."
"Thank you, Emma." I replied, "Please don't tell Joe. Just because I don't want to give him false hope if the test comes out negative."
She shook her head, "Okay, I won't."
While Emma rushed out of the house, it was just Fergal and I all alone in the living room. He looked at me with concern written all over this face as his concerned look turned into a warm smile.
"Can I ask you something, Chloe?"
"Yeah, sure. What's up?"
"I'm not trying to come off as awkward or creepy, but during your honeymoon, did you two happen to..."
I nodded, "Mhm. A lot, actually."
He looked down at his feet and nodded, "I see. I think you're pregnant."
"A-Are you sure, Fergal?" I stuttered.
"Yeah. I remember one of my friends back in my hometown of Ireland was pregnant and she was always sick in the beginning of her pregnancy. It's the first sign, and having massive cramps is another factor. You probably are."
"I definitely have a ton of symptoms of being pregnant. The sudden cravings, the throwing up and feeling fatigued. I think Joe believes that I've caught some sort of food poisoning back in Bora Bora after we devoured all of that Polynesian food."
"Ah. And Joe's always been an amazing person inside and out. When it comes to kids, I've seen him do anything to put smiles on their faces and making their dreams come true. He'd make an amazing father."
"I know he would."
I lowered my head in defeat.
"Hey lass, are you okay?" He asked.
"Yeah." I sniffled, "I'm alright."
"But you're crying? What's wrong?"
"I don't like speaking on this, but Joe and I were expecting a long time ago and I had a miscarriage after our two ex-lovers swooped in and caused my body to become extremely stressed to where I suffered a miscarriage. It's been one of the hardest things that we've ever gone through."
"I'm so sorry to hear that, Chloe." Fergal replied, reeling me into a friendly hug.
"It's okay. It was hard for Joe and I, and the loss was so unbearable to where I tried to take my own life at one point and Joe had to help me through that dark time in my life."
His eyes widened, "I can't imagine. I'm thankful that you're still here with us because I can't lose someone that I consider my little sister."
Thirty-minutes passed and Emma returned to the house with three boxes of pregnancy tests for me to take overnight.
"I'm back and I managed to stock up on some tests for you, Chloe. I know you don't want me to tell Joe, but you know if these come out positive, you have to tell him."
"I will." I sighed, "I'm just worried about going through another miscarriage. I don't think I'm over the trauma of losing our first child, and that was not that long ago."
"I understand girl, but maybe this is a second chance for you two, you know?"
"I didn't think of it like that." I paused, "Maybe this is meant to happen. But what about my modeling career?"
"If it's meant to happen with your career, Chloe, then it will. I'm sure you could still model for them if you happen to be pregnant. I think Victoria's Secret has a maternity modeling show and if they don't, maybe you can be the first to make that happen."
"You think so?"
Her and Fergal nodded, "We believe so! You can make your dreams come true; even if you're pregnant."
I listened to Emma and Fergal cheering me on and it brought a smile to my face, "Then I will! I'm gonna take the test as soon as Joe falls into a deep sleep tonight."
"That works with us."
"Anyways Chloe, we have to head out for awhile, but please let Fergal and I know if you're pregnant or not. We'll be waiting for the results!"
"Will do. Joe's coming home any minute and I don't want him to know anything just yet."
Fergal and Emma walked out the door and went back to her house for the night.
Joe returned home the following evening and I hid the pregnancy tests in a secret area of our bedroom. He immediately came to check on me the moment he kicked off his shoes.
"I'm home, baby."
I laid my head on the pillow and pretended that I was asleep the entire time. He leaned down and pressed his lips against my forehead while I felt the stubbles from his beard making contact with my skin.
"How are you feeling baby?" He asked.
"I'm somewhat feeling a little better. How was your time with Colby and Jon?"
"It went well. We just watched some football and reminisced on our careers back when we were in The Shield. Did you sleep well?"
"Yeah...I slept well."
Joe tilted his head, "You sure? You look even more exhausted than before, babe."
"I'm okay. I'm just having hot flashes and earlier, I threw up a little."
"Aw baby." He said in a low voice, "Let me take care of you."
"You don't have to, Joe."
He warmly smiled, "I want to."
While he helped me throughout the night before we went to sleep, he looked at me with concern on his face.
"Are you ready to sleep babe? I can get you whatever you need before I rest."
"I'm good, Joe."
He nodded and laid down beside me. While he fell asleep a few hours later, I managed to slip out from the bed and pulled out the secret pregnancy tests that I had hidden.
As usual, I locked the door and prepared to take the test one-by-one for the first time in forever. I looked down at the stick and as disgusting as it was, I had to pee on it in order to determine whether or not I was pregnant again.
"This is so disgusting." I said to myself.
After taking the test, I went to wash my hands and sat down on the toilet and waited for the final result. Was I pregnant? Or was I experiencing food poisoning from the Bora Bora trip?
A few minutes passed and the results were in...
I was pregnant.
I didn't know about being pregnant this time. After what happened with my first pregnancy, it terrified me on the inside. I remembered what Emma and Fergal said and it brought me some comfort. Maybe this is a second chance for Joe and I to finally have our perfect little family together.
I crawled back into bed and Joe started to groan in his sleep, "Baby, are you good?"
"Mhm."
His eyes fluttered open and he looked at me faintly with concern on his face.
"Baby." He said, "What's wrong?"
"It's nothing, Joe." I lied, "I can't sleep."
"How come?"
"I threw up again." I lied.
"I'm sorry baby. I wish you would've told me."
"You looked so peaceful while you were asleep and I didn't want to wake you up."
"Chloe, I'm your husband. If you're feeling sick, please don't hesitate to wake me up. I wanna take care of you because you're my wife. I love you..." He said, before passing out on the bed once again.
Joe's comforting words brought emotional tears to my eyes. I was beginning to experience a massive amount of positive emotions and kept quiet for the rest of the night.
The following morning, I opened my eyes and Joe wasn't at my bedside. I scanned around the bedroom and then I heard the door beginning to open. He surprised me with a beautiful tray of breakfast in bed with the warmest smile on his face.
"Good morning, baby."
"Good morning."
"I know you haven't felt good, but I hope these foods can settle your stomach. I hate when you're sick and it worries me, baby."
"You're the best husband in the entire world, Joe." I said, choking up as my emotions started to override.
Joe's smile began to fade when he seen a few tears stream down my cheeks. Concerned, he laid down next to me with his eyebrows slightly raised.
"Chloe...What's wrong?"
"I'm just so happy you made me breakfast."
"What do you mean? I always do, baby."
"But it's the way you care about me so much."
He smiled, "Of course I care about you. You're my wife! But Chloe, you don't normally get this emotional." His concerns started to grow into suspicions.
I stood up after eating the breakfast that he had prepared for me and I walked into the living room and gently plopped down on the couch.
"Baby, you've been kind of acting more emotional than ever. Are you feeling okay?"
I lowered my head and felt horrible for worrying Joe. I remained silent and he started to look in my eyes.
"Chloe..."
"Can you give me a second? Wait right here."
He nodded and looked down at his feet while waiting for my return. I rushed off to the area I hid my positive pregnancy tests and decided to put them in a small gift bag.
Returning to the living room, Joe looked concerned and I hated making him feel this way.
"Hey, babe? Can we talk?" I asked.
"Yeah, sure."
He made some room for me and I sat down. He noticed the bag in my hand and raised an eyebrow.
"Alright Joe. So, this is something I've been keeping a secret recently and I..."
"What's up, baby?"
"It's more of a surprise than anything."
I handed him the small bag and I watched as he reached his hand into it and pulled out the box that contained the three positive pregnancy tests.
"I'm pregnant."
He paused and looked down at the one positive pregnancy test that was in his hand.
"Wait a minute, hold up. You're pregnant again? Is this our second chance at starting a family?"
"I had Emma and Fergal randomly visit me yesterday evening while you were gone and they assumed the same thing. Emma bought the tests for me; and I wasn't surprised because I kept throwing up and feeling sick after our honeymoon."
Joe flashed a smile, "This is incredible news baby. I'm about to be a dad again. I'm gonna be the best father in the entire world, and you're going to be an amazing mother. This is our second chance at parenthood, Chloe."
Joe glanced down at the three positive pregnancy tests with tears beginning to well-up in his eyes. He couldn't stop smiling at the news after finding out that I was pregnant for the second time.
