Chloe
I felt better with Joe after we left from the hospital. Although the miscarriage was the worst thing that's ever happened to the both of us, I still felt like we could get through this traumatic experience together.
However, Joe wasn't afraid to show his love towards me as his hands began to intertwine with mine on the way inside of the car.
"Hey baby." He says.
"What's up?"
"How are you feeling?"
"A little better. I figured we could hire a wedding planner and a photographer if that's okay with you."
He smiled, "That works with me. And of course it's okay baby. How come?"
"I'm never the one to ask for things because I don't want to come off as a gold-digger."
He chuckled, "Chloe, you'd never come off as a gold-digger to me. If anything, my ex-wife was the definition of one and you're nowhere close to her."
"I appreciate that, Joe."
"And besides, this is our wedding and you deserve to be happy."
While we stepped into the car and made our way back to the house, we both sat down on the couch and looked for some wedding planners.
"How about this planner named Kayla Cassidy?"
"It's whatever you want baby." He flashed a smile, "Like I've said multiple times, money isn't an issue with me."
"Then we'll contact Kayla. How about a photographer?"
"Hmm." He says, scratching his beard, "Let me check around for one."
Joe went through his phone and scavenged around for a nearby photographer. After a few minutes passed, he found one named Matt.
"I found our photographer. His name is Matt Adams and he's highly rated as one of the best photographers in Toronto."
"That works with me!"
We spent the entire evening planning out our wedding. Even though I was no longer pregnant, I was still looking forward to our wedding and stepping back into Victoria's Secret to finally become a model for them.
A few hours later
After an entire day of planning the wedding and looking for a beautiful venue, we went to our bedroom and decided to watch a few movies before heading off to sleep. Before I could find the perfect movie for the night, Joe started to speak with a deepened voice.
"How are you feeling, baby?"
"I'm doing alright, I guess."
"Hm, I know when you're feeling upset. Want me to make you something to eat or?"
"I'm okay, thank you."
"Alright." He says, stepping back into the bed, "You know, baby, I'll do anything to help you through this."
"You already have."
"I have?"
"Yeah." I nodded, "I appreciate that you've been staying at my side ever since the miscarriage and although it still hurts, you always seem to make everything feel better."
He smiled, "Of course I would. And good; I know things didn't come to plan, but I have a feeling that our future is going to get bright from here."
"You think so?"
He nodded, "And even if we try for another baby in the future, I'll be taking longer off from work just to take care of you two...or three. It depends how many you're carrying." He laughs.
"Oh please, I'd rather carry just one baby the next time I'm pregnant." I sighed, "But Joe, I don't want a baby for awhile since the miscarriage."
"I understand baby. We're just gonna take things slow from here and see where life takes us."
"I'd love that."
"Me too."
We decided to watch a few horror movies before we fell asleep for the night. Joe was always wondering how I enjoyed horror movies at this time of the night, but I never had any nightmares after watching them.
After we both fell asleep a few hours later, I needed to use the bathroom and I slightly began to open my eyes; quickly realizing that Joe held me close to him in his embrace.
After escaping his grasp, he started to quietly mumble in his sleep.
"Baby?"
While I was leaving the bathroom two minutes later, I realized that I couldn't seem to fall asleep and decided to step out on the balcony while Joe was still asleep.
I stood there and looked up at the beautiful night sky in awe. The stars, the atmosphere; it was breathtaking.
However, I was beginning to miss our baby that I miscarried; along with my parents. All three in Heaven and I almost started to well-up in tears.
Taking in the gentle breeze of wind, I felt something wrapping behind my waist and before I could turn my head around, it was Joe.
Joe
I woke up from my slumber and noticed that Chloe wasn't laying next to me. The last time this happened, she overdosed and I was afraid of the same scenario happening again.
However, I looked around our bedroom and she wasn't in sight; but from the moment I checked the balcony, there she stood; so beautifully.
I quietly walked towards her and wrapped my arms around her waist, taking her by surprise.
"Joe! You scared me."
I chuckled, "I'm sorry baby. I was just checking on you because you didn't come back to bed."
She sighs, "I couldn't sleep for some reason."
I rested my head on the top of her head.
"And why's that, baby?"
"Overthinking."
"What's wrong, babe?"
"It's nothing, really." She looked up at the sky, "I'm just missing our baby and my parents tonight."
"I see." I replied, wrapping my arms around her waist once more and brought her body close to mine, "You know baby, they're all three proud of you up there."
"I hope so. I haven't had a decent mindset in forever since our baby died."
"I understand. But here's something to think about, Chloe; you've been through so much at your age. You're a strong, beautiful, loving woman who has overcome so many odds and even I'm proud of you."
"You are?"
"Yeah." I nodded, "I know things haven't been easy for either one of us, but I'm more than thankful that you're still alive baby. I don't know what I'd do if I ever lost you."
"Me too. And you won't lose me." She paused, "Although, I'm sure my parents wouldn't be proud of me right now for attempting suicide."
She lowered her head in defeat.
"They wouldn't be ashamed of you honey. It was a traumatic experience for us both, but we're gonna get through this grief together. When it comes to your parents and our baby, they're looking down at us from Heaven and they're extremely proud of you for staying strong through everything."
She sniffled, "Thank you Joe. I don't know what I'd do without you."
"Don't thank me, Chloe. I'm just doing what every loving husband should do."
We spent awhile taking in the beautiful nighttime sky in silence while holding her close in my embrace.
"Are you feeling any better, baby?"
She smiles, "I am, thanks to you."
"Good. I'm glad to hear that."
While we both enjoyed taking in the moment, I noticed that her eyes were closed and she fell asleep for the night.
After a few minutes passed, I picked her up and brought her to our bed and fell asleep next to her. Before I fell asleep for the night, I pressed my lips against her forehead and whispered.
"Oute alofa ia oe."
