Joe
After we fell asleep for the night, I slightly opened my eyes and noticed that Chloe was still awake and checking her phone the entire time. I rolled over and wrapped a small strand of her hair around my finger, "Hey baby. You good?"
She sighs, "Just a little. I'm worried about this whole paparazzi thing and how it'll affect us and the baby."
I sat up from the bed and pulled her into my embrace.
"I feel like this is somewhat my fault." I said as my demeanor dropped.
"Why? You didn't do anything."
"I did." I lowered my head in defeat, "Remember when I proposed to you at the end of WrestleMania after I unified the titles?"
"Yeah, but what does that..."
Then it clicked with her. I couldn't help myself at the time. I wanted to show the entire world about how much I loved Chloe, and I didn't want to hide it anymore.
I was stuck in a trance, afraid that she'd call off the engagement because of the fame and paparazzi. Then her lips began to part, "Joe. I'm not upset with you for doing what you did. You just wanted to show everyone that you loved me and didn't want to hide it, am I right?"
I nodded, "Yeah. I just don't want to hide our relationship anymore. Fuck Galina and fuck that piece of shit of an ex-boyfriend of yours. If we're both happy, then that's all that truly matters."
"And you're right. I don't want to be scared anymore, Joe. We shouldn't be afraid to show our happiness to the world. I just hate having those cameras shoved up in my face and people like TMZ bombarding into our lives; that's my only issue."
"I understand that, I really do, Chloe." I rubbed her back carefully, "But remember, you have me and I'm not going anywhere."
"I know you're not. I just worry myself sometimes."
I pressed my lips against hers and leaned back into the bed, "Don't worry sweetheart. I'm not like that scumbag and I wouldn't walk out on you or our baby. But I have a question, are you ready to sleep for the night?"
"Yeah." She yawns, "I'm actually starting to feel tired after all of that overthinking."
"And that's okay. Even I overthink things too, sometimes."
"You do?"
"Yeah, but in the end, I have you, an amazing family and many friends that feel like family. I couldn't be anymore blessed to have you in my life most of all. You make life a thousand times better than what it used to be."
"I'm thankful to hear that, Joe."
I crooked a smile, "I wouldn't lie to you, baby. Let's get some rest because we have to meet up with Paul in the morning."
"But why?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Unfortunately, I have to do some business in the morning and I'd love for you to come and meet Paul, Brock, and a few more of my co-workers."
"That works and I'd love to meet them." Chloe paused, "I love you."
"I love you too, baby."
Morning
When the clock struck eight in the morning, I groaned and didn't want to wake up; but I had no other choice and I had to meet up with Paul and discuss some business now that I'm holding both of the main titles of the company.
"I really don't want to get out of the bed."
"Me either. Can we call off the meeting until the late afternoon?" Chloe asked.
I started to chuckle while being half-awake, "I wish babe. It sadly doesn't work like that."
"I know."
We both sat up from the bed and started our usual morning routine before I drove us to the area the meeting was being held at before Monday Night Raw tonight.
"Hello, Joe!" Paul said, "And I see that you brought your beautiful fiancΓ©e."
"It's nice to meet you, Paul. I'm Chloe Levine."
"I know who are you are! Joe always talks about you."
"Oh? He does?"
"I do and I'm not gonna hide that from you." I replied.
We walked with Paul alongside us and we met up with Brock Lesnar. When he noticed us approaching him, he patted me on the back and had a smile on his face.
"Hey, Joe! How are you feeling?" Brock asked.
"Still exhausted, but happy to know that I officially unified the titles last night."
"I needed to take awhile off anyways. And I noticed that you brought your girlfriend with you!"
I smiled, "Yeah. I wanted Chloe to meet everyone because she's always wondering if I have actual beef with anyone at work. She thought we did until I explained that we were good friends outside of the ring."
"Ha-Ha. It's nice meeting you Chloe! I'm sure you've heard of me before back in the UFC, right?"
She nods, "Actually, I do! I used to watch UFC before and you're amazing at it. That and wrestling."
"That truly means a lot. Joe, you have a good woman and I know you two just got engaged, but I would love to come to the wedding."
She chuckled, "Sure! We'd love to have you there, Brock."
"Then it's settled!" Brock replied, "I'll definitely be there and I'm gonna take the day off to relax after that match between us last night."
"Take all the time you need, Brock." I smirked, "And if you ever want to have a rematch with me for the titles, let me know and we can talk to Trips about it."
"I'd like that. And again, it was nice to meet you, Chloe! Take care, guys!"
Brock went into the office to get his paycheck for the WrestleMania match and headed back home to Saskatchewan for the time being. After Brock left, we took the rest of the day to have Chloe meet the majority of my co-workers before heading back to our home.
A few hours passed and we were driving back to the house. Chloe and I insisted on playing some music together and enjoying the ride in the middle of nowhere.
It wasn't long until we were met with a huge flash of light coming our way; and I pulled on the breaks as fast as possible. Before the vehicles could collide, we stopped and got out of the way.
"What the fuck just happened?"
"To be honest with you, Chloe. I don't know."
The other vehicle seemed to stop, too. But before we could walk up to the other person to check on them, their headlights were off; and it was hard to see the figure that was standing in front of us.
