53.

Jonathan, Josh and Joseph were more than excited to hang out with Chloe for the first time. I stood at the corner of the room as I quickly messaged Colby and listened to them speak to one another from a distance.

"Chloe, it's amazing that we finally get to meet you."

"It's nice to meet you too, Jonathan."

"You know, Joe's told the three of us back when we were kids that he couldn't wait to raise a baby of his own."

"I've been hearing that a lot." She replied, "I'm glad that I'm having a baby with Joe. He's such a sweet person and I know he's a great cousin to you three."

"Definitely, Uce." Josh says, "We all played football together growing up and focused on our dreams on becoming wrestlers, too."

Joseph intervened with a smile on his face, "Not just that, but Joe would also ramble on and on about you all the time to us during work."

"He would?"

They all three nodded.

"Trust me, our cuz loves you, Uce. There's no doubt because we never seen him love a woman like that. Not even that ex-wife of his."

She blushed, "I've never experienced something like this before with any man. Joe's pretty much the first man that's ever given me happiness. The others from my past were abusive and manipulative."

"Really?" Jonathan said, "Then they're garbage ass bitches if they'd mistreat you, Uce."

After I sent Colby the message, I walked over to Chloe and my three cousins as they were about to start conversing about our ex's.

"Tell me about it, Uce." I sighed, "We're still trying to get Galina and Chloe's ex-boyfriend sent back to prison and they're currently on the run." I said.

"Wait, wait, wait!" Josh replied, "You're telling us that Galina and Chloe's ex are on the run together?"

Chloe and I both nodded.

"What the fuck, Uce? Do we gotta fuck them up or something? Because we will."

"Nah, we have it under control. I just don't know how we're gonna find them, but they definitely have something else in mind. Ever since the hitman attack."

"They hired a hitman on y'all?" Joseph replied.

"Yes." I huffed, "Galina and Chloe's ex, Joshua, are out for blood for the both of us and it's insane that they're trying to get us killed; and for what?"

"Nah Uce. We're gonna fuck them both up if we see them, alright?"

"Anything would help. We've tried the police and everything but to no avail."

"Man, what the fuck is wrong with them?" Jonathan asked with furrowed eyebrows.

"I don't know, but I've been keeping Chloe extremely safe with me. Because she's pregnant with our child, I have to protect her more than ever."

"We get that. And Chloe, we'll protect you too. I know we ain't blood or share any type of relation unless you and Joe get married, but we got your back, too." Josh says.

"Thank you three so much."

"Don't thank us, we already see you like family. You treat our cousin with respect and kindness so we'll always bring that same energy back." Joseph replied.

Galina
I glanced over at Joshua, who was pacing around the house in frustration as he carried one of his revolvers in his hand.

"God dammit, Galina. I'm getting frustrated with this entire situation."

"Well, you're the one who tried to hire a hitman and how did that work out for you?" I laughed. "Not to mention we lost three grand because of you."

"Excuse me? You're the one that wanted to get involved with killing our ex's, Galina."

I scoffed, "Yeah, but what are you gonna do about it? Although I have a strong hatred for Joe, but because I know him so well, you probably wouldn't stand a chance against him one-on-one."

Suddenly, I started feeling a sense of regret from the moment I opened my mouth. Joshua looked at me like I lit a fire under his ass and he started to talk through his teeth.

"What the fuck did you just say to me?"

"I didn't say anything, I...I was just saying that you'd be able to kill both Joe and Chloe." I replied, laughing off my comment in attempt to make him think I was joking around.

Before I knew it, Joshua's hand raised in the air and I felt the impacted slap from across my face as I fell down to the couch.

"Ouch! What the fuck is wrong with you?" I asked, holding my throbbing cheek with my hand.

"What's wrong with me? You ran your mouth to me and now you're defending your ex-husband?"

"What I was trying to say before I was rudely interrupted was that Joe's a strong person and you know as good as I do that he's always working out in the gym and he has strength and muscles."

"So? I'm getting tired of you running that stupid mouth of yours, Galina."

"Whatever. Don't say I didn't warn you. If a hitman attack wasn't enough to take them both out, what makes you think the both of us could kill them? I'm sure Joe was the one who killed Dante."

"I doubt that. I'd do anything to get rid of those two imbeciles."

"Same here." I paused, "So, what's the plan?"

"Okay. We're gonna come up on them when they least expect it and attack them. I don't care if it's in a dark alleyway or in their own home. I'll have a switchblade and you'll have my revolver."

"Alright? But what happens if the police catch up to us again?"

"They won't, which is why we're going to remain undercover the entire time."

All I could do was nod at Joshua's plan. I wasn't happy with the fact he slapped me across the face, but what was I to do? I was more than determined to take these two out with or without his help.

I knew without any doubt that Chloe stole Joe from me awhile back; and if I couldn't have Joe, nobody could.

Chloe
After talking things out with Joe and his family, we all had a nice afternoon together. We enjoyed each other's company and I loved getting to know Joe's parents. As much as I missed mine, it made me happy to know that I could lean on Joe's family.

"And if there's anything you need, Chloe, we're here for you throughout this pregnancy." Patricia said, "And Joe. I want you to become more protective over Chloe because it's not safe out here in this world and she's carrying your child."

"I will, ma." Joe replied.

"Good."

"It's in your Samoan blood to protect your loved ones at all costs." His father, Sika, said.

He smiled, "I wouldn't let anyone hurt Chloe anyways. I love her too much to allow something to happen to her."

"Man, y'all are cute together!" Jonathan said, then looked over at his twin brother, Josh, "I'm serious when I say that Joe's never been this happy before with anyone until he started dating Chloe."

"Yeah, I agree with you, Uce."

When the sky started to get dark, Joe pulled me to the side with a smile on his face, "I wanna take you somewhere. There's a beautiful sight here in Pensacola that I'd love to show you."

"I'd love to."

Joe went into the living room as the entire family was playing Mario Kart on the Nintendo Switch.

"Hey ma, we're going out and we'll be back later."

"Alright son, you two stay safe!"

I didn't know what Joe was planning on doing, but he couldn't stop flashing his smile the entire ride. After a few minutes passed, Joe escorted me out from the car and we were met with the beach.

"Here we are, Chloe."

The sun was beginning to set as we looked around in awe at the beach.

"This is so beautiful, Joe."

"If we're being honest, I think you're more beautiful than the sunset." He said.

"So are you."

"You think so?"

I nodded.

Joe looked at me with the warmest smile on his face. We walked around the beach with our hands intertwined together and we gazed upon the beautiful ocean wave as it collided with our toes in the sand.

"Do you think we should bring the baby here some time?"

"I'd love that." Joe said, "Also, how would you feel about a beach wedding?"

After Joe asked the question, my eyes shot open. He's already beginning to talk about marriage and I didn't expect this within a matter of months together; almost nearing a year.

"I'd want nothing more but to have a beautiful beach wedding. But Joe, how come you're discussing marriage already? I thought you wanted to wait awhile."

He smiled, "I do. I'm just asking your opinion for future references. And besides, I've never had the opportunity to show you how beautiful the beach is back in my hometown. I know Toronto has beaches but have you ever seen a sunset like this before?"

"I have but I believe Pensacola's sunsets are more vibrant and beautiful."

He chuckled, "I'm glad that you love it."

We sat down together and away from the oceans waves as we took in this moment together of watching the sunset's beam around the waves making an end and the sky began to darken.

His arms began to carefully wrap around me from behind and he rested his chin on the crown of my head. Joe was content and felt at peace for the first time in awhile. He deserved the best and I was more than determined to make him the happiest man alive.
