TAEHYUNG WOKE UP VERY LATE into the night, or rather early in the morning. The living room was basked in complete darkness. The TV screen was blank and the curtains were drawn closed, blocking out the moonlight. He was half way off of the couch, just barely balancing on the edge as something prevented him from rolling back.
That something was Aspen.
She had fallen asleep as well, lying behind Taehyung, pressed against the pillows on the couch and his solid back.
Taehyung sat up, rubbing his eyes as they adjusted to the darkness around him. He looked down to find Yeontan asleep in a dark, fluffy ball on the floor.
He stood up completely, groaning a bit as he did so before turning back around to see that Aspen had already stretched out on the couch now that she had more room. She had essentially taken over his bed, leaving him no space to climb back in.
He was left with two options. He could let her stay there and sleep on the floor or he could attempt to carry her up to her room. Taehyung decided that he didn't want to risk bumping into anything while he carried her upstairs, so he'd leave her there and just sleep on the floor.
But it was cold, at least for Aspen. She shivered now that Tae wasn't there to keep her warm. He couldn't simply leave her there cold, so he begrudgingly made his way upstairs to grab her blankets from her room. He came back downstairs with her comforter over his shoulder and draped it over her, only for Aspen to curl up under it, trying to keep her own body heat close to her.
Taehyung went around the coffee table and got down on the hardwood floor, lying on his back as he tried to get comfortable enough to go back to sleep. And eventually he did fall back to sleep, though he only slept for around an hour when he was awaken by light kicks to the side.
When he rolled over and looked up, Aspen was standing above him looking down at his sleeping frame. Her eyes narrow, tired slits as she bent down and grabbed his hand, tugging at his arm for him to get up.
"What?" Taehyung asked, slowly getting up from off of the floor, only to be dragged along with Aspen past the couch and up the stairs, stumbling her way into her own room, tripping slightly over the comforter she dragged behind her.
"What are you-" Taehyung was cut off when he was shoved into the bed with Aspen flopping down beside him soon after, dragging the comforter and putting it over he two of them as she snuggled into his side.
Taehyung was greatly confused, but he was too tired to question it as of now. The stiff muscles of his body loosened as he was now on a much more comfortable surface.
Aspen had already fallen fast asleep against him. Her soft breath breezes over his neck and by way, his face was buried in her hair. Her scent was comforting, sweet and subtle yet so enveloping.
Taehyung wrapped an arm around her and held her body close. They both excused it as him attempting to keep her warm. But they both know it's far more than that. Though they had a lot more space to move about, Taehyung and Aspen kept close together in the middle of the bed, their legs a tangled of limbs and there bodies so close that they were almost one single being.
Hours upon hours had passed and they still remained as close together as when they fell asleep, only shifting slightly throughout the night. Taehyung was the first to awake as the sun peeked through the curtains of her window and shown on his face, waking him up rather easily with a furrow of his brows and a crunch of his nose.
He let out a low, raspy groan as he sat up slightly, only to fall back onto the bed, his eyes once again closed as he tried to bring himself to actually get up. Maybe he could sleep for a few more minutes and get out before Aspen got up. He didn't want the same thing to happen as last time.
But that plan was completely thrown out of the window when Aspen groaned as well, shifting a lot, signalling at she was about to wake up as well. The only thing Taehyung could think to do was pretend to be asleep, so that exactly what he did, his eyes closed softly and and his panicked expression softened into a nothing but a blank slate.
Aspen's eyes fluttered open, squinting against the harsh lighting of the room. She lifted her hand to block the her eyes while she rolled over in bed. It took a few hard blinks for her vision to clear up.
When she rolled to her side, her eyes landed on Taehyung, sleeping peacefully. She let out a startled gasp, jumping away from his sleeping figure. His head was resting on one of her pillows, half his face disappearing as the cushioning gave away under the weight. His hair was a curly mess on his head, a rather boyishly cute style.
His resting face always made him seem much scarier than he actually is. His naturally down turned lips made it look like he was perpetually in a bad mood. Like he would glare down anyone who go close. But he was actually a puppy, an innocent puppy that was new to life, using her as a navigator, a support beam.
He looked cute like this, sleeping peacefully, with his hair falling over his eyes like a curtain black curls.
Taehyung felt the gentle touch of her fingertips against his cheeks, carefully pushing his hair out of his face and behind his ear. He wasn't sure what she was doing, but it felt nice.
The bed dipped lightly and then rose as Aspen rolled out of bed with a yawn. Taehyung listened to the sound of her feet shuffling against the cool, hardwood floor as she left the room. The moment she was gone, he cracked open an eye. His hand came to his cheek where the memory of her gentle remained.
Taehyung slowly got out of bed, leaving the room and shuffling his way downstairs.
Aspen was in the kitchen, starting up her Keurig after she put food and water in Yeontan's bowls. She rubbed her eyes, long, curled hair falling over her face. She was cursing herself for forgetting to wear her "bonnet" whatever that was.
Taehyung shuffled into the kitchen and leaned up against the counter with his arms crossed over his chest. "Good morning." He spoke, voice low and gravelly from lack of use. "That's what humans say right? Good morning?"
Aspen smiled tiredly, nodding. "Yeah, it's good morning." She confirmed for him.
Taehyung stood up and moved around her, behind her. The action puts Aspen on edge, her walls were thrown up as she saw his hands come to the counter on their side of her body. "Tae, what are you doing?" Aspen asked, her body turning tense when she feels Taehyung rest his forehead on her shoulder. "I am tired." He yawned. "It is odd, I am usually never tired."
"Then go lay down on the couch or something." Aspen told him, wiggling her way out of his arms, her face hot and flustered. She decided to abandon her coffee, trading it out from a nice, cold cup of water. She couldn't afford to gett any hotter than she always was.
Taehyung could hear her heartbeat quicken. He tilted his head. "Why does your heart rate always accelerate when I am hear you?" He asked with genuine confusion. "Does my presence make you uncomfortable?"
Taehyung doesn't understand how attractive he was by human standards and that most humans who aren't in a relationship don't have the skinship that they have.
"No reason." Aspen brushed it off, taking her cup of water into the living room with her. Taehyung quickly followed after her like the lost puppy he was. She took an eager sip of were water before setting it down on the table.
"I am sorry if I made you uncomfortable, Human Aspen." Taehyung tried again. Desperately trying to seek forgiveness from her. He didn't known when or why he had suddenly become so clingy, but he had always been a people pleaser. He was designed to be that way.
Taehyung needed to fix his communication device, even with Earth's primitive tools. He could use parts of the rest of his vessel to fix the radio and contact his planet to come and rescue him before it's too late.
"You're fine." Aspen murmured, curling up at the end of the couch. Taehyung knew that much was a lie. He felt that his presence was a nuisance, unwanted and unnecessary. He figured that maybe it would be better to seperate himself, focus on his main priority at hand.
Aspen watch him disappear behind the garage door where she wouldn't see him for hours. He didn't come out to drink or drink or use the bathroom, he simply remained their, unseen for hours, working like his life depended on it. He was adimant on fixing it's on getting home.
This wasn't his home. He didn't belong here and it was showing. He was changing, his body trying to force itself into this box to fit in on Earth, but he wasn't even supposed the be here in the first place.
Taehyung needed to leave.

I'm watching The French Dispatch and this probably has to be my favorite movie already. It's beautiful made, the narration is beautiful and it's oddly poetic.
Thank you all for reading. I hope you guys enjoyed and I wish you all a wonderful day/night.
