Piper Mclean, along with other fan favorites Leo Valdez, Jason Grace, and Seymour, the Leopard Head who loves Snausages, were all introduced in The Lost Hero. The Lost Hero isn't known as the greatest book Uncle Rick has written- it's one of the least liked books, but that doesn't mean it's lost a special place in our hearts. Here's some of my favorite (and funny) snippets!

1. Piper, pg 38 - "By a god," Jason interrupted. "That's the symbol of Vulcan, isn't it?"

All eyes turned to him.

"Jason," Annabeth said carefully, "how do you know that?"

"I'm not sure."

"Vulcan?" Leo demanded. "I don't even LIKE Star Trek. What are you talking about?"

2. Jason, pg 88 - But the weirdest thing was the stuffed leopard's head above the fireplace. It looked so real, it's eyes seemed to follow Jason.

Then it snarled, and Jason nearly leaped out of his skin.

"Now, Seymour," Chiron chided. "Jason is a friend. Behave yourself"

"That thing is alive!" Jason said.

3. Piper, pg 248 - " Thaila winked at Jason. "She's tough for a child of Aphrodite. I like this one."

"Hey, I could run ten miles too," Leo volunteered. "Though Hephaestus kid here. Let's hit it."

Naturally, Thalia ignored him.

4. Leo, pg 396 - "It's okay," Jason's voice promised.

At the top of the stairs, a face appeared out of the darkness- a hideous black grin, a smashed nose, and a single blood-shot eye in the middle of his forehead.

"It's fine" the Cyclops said, in a perfect imitation of Jason's voice. "You're just in time for dinner.

5. Jason, pg 351 - "They were sitting on the sofas now, while the king reclined on his throne. Tricky to do in a bathrobe, and Jason kept worrying the old guy would forget and uncross his legs. Hopefully he was wearing golden boxers under there.

6. Leo, pg 535 - Nyssa shook her head. "No. besides, that map looks really old. The date... does that say 1864?"

They all turn to Chiron.

The centaur's tail swished fretfully. "This camp has been attacked many times," he admitted. "That map is from the last Civil War."

7. Jason, pg 222 - "She's pretty," Zethes mumbled. "I mean, she's right."

"Father, don't listen to her," Khione said. "She's a child of Aphrodite. She dares to charmspeak a god? Freeze her now!"

Boreas considered this. Jason slipped his hand in his pocket and got ready to bring the gold coin. If things went wrong, he'd have to move fast.

The movement caught Boreas' eye. "What is that on your forearm, demigod?"

8. Jason, pg 9 - Leo got up and brushed himself off. "I hate that guy." He offered Jason his, like they should go skipping inside together.

"I'm Dylan. I'm so cool, I want to date myself, but I can't figure it out how! You want to date me instead? You're so lucky!"

"Leo," Jason said, "you're weird."
