"Percy, no!" Annabeth whispered, leaning against the cold, dark frames of the Doors of Death. "Please, Percy you promised. You said you'd never do it again,"
Percy glanced back at Annabeth with tears in his eyes, blurring her beautiful features.
"Times change, Wise Girl," Percy said, looking away. "If I don't, you won't leave here alive to tell the sun and stars hello for Bob and me. I love you, Annabeth Chase and I'm very sorry,"
Percy pushed Annabeth through the Doors with all the strength he had and watched as they closed as Annabeth tried to get to Percy. The look in her eyes caused tears to fall down Percy's face as he turned to face the monster army.
The black doors closed and began to rise. Percy could hear Annabeth's cries from the ground where he stood, but it still comforted him that she would be able to meet the sun and the stars.
----
He hoped she would tell the sun and the stars hello for Bob, Damasen, and him.
----
Bob's finger was still on the button, Damasen still fought Tartarus, and Small Bob still tore monsters apart with his fangs. He had to do something.
He closed his eyes and honed his concentration, focusing on all the liquids he could sense around him: Bob, Damasen, and Tartarus's ichor, the five rivers of the Underworld running under his feet.
"You promised, Seaweed Brain," Annabeth's voice echoed in his head. "You'd never do it again,"
Percy's insides shattered upon hearing her voice, hearing her so weak. He knew she wasn't there, but still, it hurt him.
"I'm sorry Wise Girl."
----
The veins of Tartarus exploded around him, spraying water from the Phlegthon, Styx, Acheron, Lethe, and Cocytus all over the monsters. As each vein burst, two more seemed to burst seconds after it.
The wailing and screeching of monsters could be heard from miles away, as they came in contact with those dangerous monsters. With all seventy gazillion monsters distracted, Percy could now do his job.
He turned to Tartarus.
"Percy friend, no! Don't go to Tartarus! Bob doesn't want to lose another friend..." Bob tried warning Percy, but his rage blinded him. Bob would have stopped him, but his finger was firmly on the button.
Percy's eyes seemed to glow in the dark, sea green in the dim red light. Each step of his seemed to make the ground under him tremble, and surviving monsters cowered, avoiding the path of the demigod, whose fury feared them the most.
Monsters told horror stories about the demigod.
"Perseus Jackson."
Tartarus's voice echoed through the plains.
"You dare challenge me? Well, I dare you to survive, puny demigod."
Percy stood tall, his chin held high as he stared into the void of a face of Tartarus's. The primordial's purple skin gleamed, as he almost effortlessly swatted Damasen away over jagged rocks. Damasen lay unconscious.
"Fight me then," Percy said. "Fight me and then laugh over my dead body if you dare. Unless you want to say that you're scared."
"Me? Scared?"
Ignoring Tartarus's words, Percy charged. Catching the primordial by surprise, Percy stabbed every part of Tartarus he could reach. Fighting for his life, Percy also concentrated on Tartarus's blood.
As Percy focused his attention, a wave of dizziness washed over him, nearly causing him to lose consciousness. The ichor, that flowed through the god's veins, seemed to exude an overwhelmingly potent energy that Percy had never encountered before. He inhaled as slowly as he could as he danced around Tartarus's legs, stabbing and avoiding any blows.
With all his remaining strength, Percy screamed, as the pieces of smoothened shattered glass broke into a million pieces again. There was a sharp pain in his gut and his vision blurred. All he could see was the frozen body of the King of the Pit and Bob the Titan running to him as he was blasted into the air. Then his vision went black.
----
"We must let him rest, Iapetus." whispered a soft voice
"But my lady, he is needed on the surface. The prophesied demigods need him. He is their last hope against Gaia," urged a voice
"Gaia and her worthless plans. All she does is plot and has it ever worked out? Trust me. His brethren have already made their way to Greece, and the child of Wisdom still suffers and mourns his loss. Ask Akhyls. The misery-"
"But he still sleeps." said a deeper voice.
"Patience, Damasen. Let him sleep. His pass into immortality was difficult. We must let my darkness heal his. You two go rest in my House, for The Fates are due soon."
----
Percy rubbed his eyes and slowly opened them. He slowly took in his surroundings, a dimly lit room with a single black door and a few windows, where the horrible landscape of Tartarus.
"You have woken."
Percy's blood ran cold. He knew that voice.
Nyx.
Percy turned around and faced the goddess.
"I do not wish to harm you, but I simply provided a space for you to rest. Bob and Damasen wait for you in my House, for you must travel with them to the surface and stop Gaia from doing something stupid again."
Percy blinked. He processed Nyx's words and then nodded. He smiled weakly and gave a thumbs-up.
Nyx laughed. Her face was full of galaxies and stars, so she didn't have any expression, but the way there were crinkles at the side of her supernova eyes Percy guessed she was smiling.
"You amuse me. We need people like you in Tartarus. If you could, visit sometime. And Percy? Take care. Your change took time. Anyways, tell my daughter Hemera that I miss her."
With that, Nyx disappeared.
----
Percy left the room and found Bob and Damasen standing outside.
"Percy!" said Bob.
Damasen smiled.
"I thought Nyx said you two were in her House?" Percy asked.
"We came out to find you once she said you were awake. Follow us. Nyx has shown us a pathway to the mortal world. We must go there and stop Gaia!"
Then Percy froze. Why did Bob have streaks of gold in his hair? If Percy remembered right, Damasen had lilies in his hair not sunflowers.
"Who are you?" he said, backing away.
"What do you mean? We are your friends," Bob said, his head tilting to one side slowly.
"No, no, no no!" Percy said backing away. Just looking at their eyes, Percy could tell they were not his friends.
His shock caught him by surprise, and Bob and Damasen froze as their blood bubbled under the imposters' skin and then they kneeled against their will in front of the new god.

Quite a cliffhanger, if I do say so myself! Do you enjoy Dark!Percy tropes? Let the Senate- especially Storm- know in the comments
