Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, Grover Underwood, and Nancy, Percy's old bully who'd wedgy the first graders, were all introduced in the first book of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which was Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. Now who doesn't love this PJO Classic? I certainly do- and here's some of my favorite snippets!

1. Percy in I Accidentally Vaporize My Pre-Algebra Teacher, pg 1 - My Name is Percy Jackson.

I'm twelve years old. Until a few months ago, I was a boarding student at Yancy Academy, a private school for troubled kids in upstate New Year.

Am I a troubled kid?

Yeah. You could say that.

2. Percy in My Mother Teaches Me Bullfighting, pg 45 - Grover let out a sharp, throaty "blah-ha-ha!"

I'd heard him make that sound before, but I'd always assumed it was a nervous laugh. Now I realized it was more od an irritated bleat.

"Goat!" he cried.

"What?"

"I'm a goat from the waist down."

"You just said it didn't matter."

3. Percy in I Settle My Tab, pg 315 - "All I want," I said, choking back tears, "is to see my loving stepfather again. Every time I saw him on TV, calling me a delinquent punk, I knew... somehow... we would be okay. And I know he'll want to reward each and every person in this beautiful city of Los Angekes with a free magor appliance from his store. Here's the phone number."

4. Percy in Annabeth Does Obedience School, pg 285 - He looked over us. "How did you die, then?

I nudged Grover.

"Oh," he said "Um... drowned in the bathtub."

"All three of you?" Charon asked.

We nodded.

"Big bathtub."

Charon looked mildly unimpressed.

5. Percy in We Visit The Garden Gnome Emporium, pg 173 - "They're..um..." Annabeth started to say.

"We're orphans," I said.

"Orphans?" the woman asked. The word sounded alien in her mouth. "But, my dears! Surely not!"

"We got separated from our caravan," I said "Our circus caravan. The ringmaster told us to meet him at the gas station if we got lost, but he may have forgotten, or maybe he meant a different gas station. Anyway, we're lost. Is that food I smell?"

6. Percy in We Get Advice From A Poodle, pg 195 - I stared at Annabeth, figuring she's cracked up at this practical joke they were playing on me, but she looked dead serious.

"I'm not saying hello to a pink poodle," I said, "Forget it."

"Perc," Annabeth said. "I said hello to the pink poodle . You say hello to the pink poodle."

The poodle growled.

I said hello to the pink poodle.

That was great and such a good way to appreciate this throwback! Right demigods? Let's be honest, The Lightning Thief is the funniest Riordanverse book ever. Let us know and feel free to add why you love them so much!
