billy black was a well respective man on the reservation, everyone knew him as he was the chief of counsel. they knew him because he raised his son - jacob - all alone after his wife lost her beautiful life and he lost the ability to walk on his feet after a deadly car accident. but although he went through it all alone, it never hindered the man from being carefree when he could.

he spends most of his time at home, watching various tv channels or reading newspaper except if a game is on. if thats the case then you see him at charlie swan's house or the police man is at their little house, the two eating fried fish steaks during it and no one could change that.

sam uley on the other hand was a boy fresh out of high school. he wanted to go to college soon, had a girlfriend as well, leah clearwater. the two were together for three years and already engaged, wanting to seal the deal for the rest of their lifes.

oh how glad he was that they didnt marry, guilt eating him up alive but he didnt care, what he cared about was that he didnt make the wrong choice.

people talked, of course they did at such a small 'town' like la push but that didnt mean they talked good. everyone knew everyone, well mostly. so when a blonde tanned girl made a sudden appearance, well that just screamed at them to talk.

when the cullens came back and resided in forks, washington, it triggered something in sam. his bloodline, if we were precise.

when billy black heard that sam uley had phrased and roamed the woods all by himself, he rolled to the kitchen, opening a drawer and desperately searching for that one paper that he always wondered when he would need it.

'call if need help with the dogs'

thats what the paper said and without hesitation he rolled himself to the house telephone, typing the number in before he waited for someone to pick up, he doesent know who but he hoped that they could help.

the paper? it was passed down generations and yes, he had heard about it and that he should call as soon as the first had shifted but he never know who it actually was.

his father always joked to him that it was a beautiful girl and that she helped him when he first shifted but of course billy never believed that.

the call got picked up and a sweet melodic voice answered, "hello?"

his eyes went wide, the girl on the other side couldnt be more than sixteen, how would she help? nevertheless he stated the problem at hand quickly to her, "uhm, here is billy black. one of the tribe's boys has phrased and i was told to call you. he currently roams the surrounding woods and he was very confused, didnt know what happened. i worry that a passerby will see him or worse, he'll hurt them."

she hums into the phone, "sure. i'll be on my way."

with that she hung up, leaving the old man flabbergasted by what just happened. she was so calm, as if she knew exactly what to do, who exactly to look for.

the girl on the other side had a smirk on her lips, standing up from her terrace as she went inside, packing a suitcase with a few clothes and necessaries before she went to lock all the doors and windows with a flick of her wrist.

she sighs, grabbing the book she was reading before the man had called her, a tote bag on her shoulders where she put it in along with her keys, her wallet, her phone and of course the important stuff - the grimoire.

not only did vampires with gifts exist or shape shifters that turn into large dogs - scratch that - wolves exist but also witches. rare, but they exist. various girls have been roaming the world, helping multiple covens of vampires to a certain degree but the blonde girl always thought she was better off with the wolves.

therefore she spelled herself immortal - something that was very big and made the rounds through the witches - helping the tribe in la push every time someone phrased until they sadly died of old age or decide to keep phrasing to stay young and healthy.

she never knew when that vampire coven comes back but she was glad that this billy black man had called her, she felt excited to a certain degree, but she was also worried because her mind keeps telling her that this generation of shape shifters would definitely be different from the rest she helped.

sighing she holds on her suitcase, taking one last look around before she flicked her wrist towards la push.

standing in front of a small redish one story house she hums, knowing who it belonged to before she makes her way up the ramp towards the door, her suitcase rolling after her without her holding on it until it stood next to her.

she knocks on the door, a friendly smile on her lips before the very man that called her opened the door.

"hello? how may i help you?" he asks politely, having no clue that she would be the one to help with the first one that phrased.

she chuckles, "how impolite of me, i really should write my name on that paper. i'm eloise evans and i'm the one you have called for help."

his eyes widen at that, looking at her suitcase before back to her face. her soft features nagged his brain, beautiful brown eyes, plump lips, perfect white teethes, cute nose and of course the faint freckles that littered under her eyes and over her nose. her tan skin told him that she is either very often in the sun or she is kind of native.

he lets out a sigh of relief, "please, come inside." he offers, closing the door after her as she walks past him, looking around his house in interest.

"oh, you changed the painting." she comments, gesturing to the one that he had changed a few years back, before there was a painting that his father had up on the wall.

he hums, rolling into the kitchen, he was glad that jacob was still in school and wouldnt hear the conversation.

"you're father liked it, got it from his wife as a birthday present." she tells him with a soft smile, she sets the suitcase aside before she sits down at the table and looks at billy.

"thank you for coming so quick but how did you do that?" he asks her.

"i'm sure your father has told you about me before, you just didnt want to believe it." she responds, "i should add that i need a place to stay for the time being, it varies by the amount of vampires but it should be around a year if the cullens are the only vampires around here."

he nods his head, "you may use the guestroom as your own. we'll discuss everything else later.."

"thank you. yes, that would be necessary - just say i'm a distant relative and came to help you out." she tells him before she stands up again, leaving her tote bag on the chair as she gets her grimoire out only, "i should go out and search for him, what is his name?"

"sam, his name is samuel uley. he should be a bit older than you." he answers.

she gives him a soft smile, "thank you, i'll be as quick as i can."

with that she was out the door again, walking down the small grass hill in his backyard, already looking into the tree line to try and hear him, maybe see him already.

billy informed harry clearwater that the help has arrived already, describing how she looked to him and that she had this thick old and worn book in her hand. the two came up with a few theories while she was helping sam.

walking into the woods she looks around, it got darker the more she went into it so she mutters a quick spell in latin to help her, "post tenebras spero lucem."

holding her palm up she sees a light ball growing, looking like a moon as she walks further inside. she turns her head to the side, worry growing in her mind as she couldnt find him, so she starts calling out for him in a soft voice, in a volume that couldnt be heard by humans but by his enhanced one, "sam? i'm eloise, i'm here to help you. you dont have to be afraid! you couldnt hurt me in anyway, i just want to help you."

she repeated the words all the time until she was by a small creak, hearing huffing from the other side she turns there and sees a black wolf walking to it exhausted, shaky on its legs as it was still confused.

she walks up to him slowly, a branch crackling under her feet which alerted him of someone. he looks up quickly, already taking a few steps back with a longing look of helplessness in his eyes.

she holds her hand out with the light, it disappearing immediately as the two stand in the dark, "sam! i'm eloise. i can help you. billy called me, if you would just listen to me!"

he stops, staring at her as she sighs in relief, she begins again, "i have been helping the tribe for centuries and i intent to help you as well. i need you to calm down, can you do that? i'm sure you are confused."

he lets a whine out, telling her that his mind could not calm down, not in this state so she walks forwards again, "dont worry, i'm not going to do anything to you. promise." she tells him, her smile soft and gentle that it made him relax a bit.

she stops a few steps in front of him, holding her hand out again, palm facing up, "i'm going to calm you mind, alright?" she received a nods from him, faint but it was there nonetheless, "papilio lux.." she mumbles out.

a beautiful blue butterfly flys slowly up her palm, his eyes went wide as he stares at it in wonder, the light reflecting on both their faces which showed her pretty features again.

he was in awe, forgetting that he was in a wolves body as his mind was at peace. the confusion and worry was gone, he didnt feel scared anymore, just at peace.

she grins at him, "there we go. now that you're calm, think about your human body, you'll shift back in no time again, promise."

she turns her head to the side, giving him privacy as she heard the sounds of shifting back, flicking her wrist she had a pair of clothes appear in her hands that she held out to him to change into, "here you go, so you can actually walk by without getting weird looks for being nude."

he silently took them and changed into them before he looks to her, her head still turned away as she had a small smile on her lips, "how.. you can look again."

turning her head she mutters a spell below her breath, letting the ball of light come to life again, "cmon, walk with me." she tells him, the two falling into steps with each other as they slowly make their way back to billy's, "i'm sure you have questions, you can ask them."

"what am i? is this normal? why did i turn into a wolf and who are you again?" he asks quickly, "i mean, i know your name but what are you?!"

she laughs, a sweet melody to his ears as she answers, "you're a shape shifter, sam. it is in your bloodline for generations. you turned into a wolf because the cold ones triggered the gene, it is not that hard to tell but the tribe's stories that are told are real."

he nods his head, taking in the information she just told him, "and your name is eloise?"

she nods her head, "you may call me lou for short and the thought that you have in your head about me being the witch of the tribe stories is true. i did help the tribe for centuries now and billy called me here to help you and your pack."

"my pack?" he asks again, the two nearing billy's house.

"your pack, yes. as you are the first to shift you are automatically the alpha of your pack. together you have to keep the humans safe from the cold ones, the cullens that currently reside near the border, the treaty that was formed years ago." she informs him, slowly so he could take it in his mind properly.

he nods his head, "so billy is the chief of the counsel, does that mean he has to know?"

"correct, he is the one that tells the stories at the bonfires and as soon as someone new phrases he has to know, so he can keep up with everything. he also is the person you keep updated what regards the cold ones." she says, turning to look at him.

their eyes connect and she is reminded of a important thing, "if you make eye contact with someone and you daze out, you see your future together, typically it just happens with regular humans but in some cases witches are affected as well. the air shifts and its not gravity that is holding you on the ground, its her, or him. whatever the people of the past generation think suits you the best."

"so its a soulmate?"

"oh sam.." she cooes at him, "its so much more. they'll be your world, you'll do anything to please them. and imprint can be your friend, your sibling, your protector or even the love of your life."

he nods his head in acknowledgement, "that sounds like you experienced it before, were you..?" he trails off, the question forming silently as she shakes her head.

"i havent, but a close friend of mine was two generations ago. she told me everything as she knew i would be the one helping the next generation." she answers him, "now cmon, i'm sure you are hungry and i am as well, i havent had lunch yet!"

with that she takes his wrist, sprinting towards billy's house and opens the door slowly, peeking inside as she did so, "billy? i have sam with me."

the man comes around the corner with a relieved smile, "oh thank the gods for your help, eloise. you really did a good job, say.. did your grimoire help you?"

she shakes her head, "oh billy," she chuckles, "to answer your silent question, yes i am a witch. the one that helped the shifters of this tribe for centuries."

she sits down at a chair with sam behind her tail, the two eating the fried fish with fries that he prepared for his son that should be coming home soon but that didnt matter now, the three conversed more, billy explaining everything sam needed to know, in more detail as she did the short one.
