Prologue

"Heracles," a voice spoke out from the darkness. "I'm back. I have returned to thee."

"Thou hast returned? After disappearing for two days, thou have realized that maybe thine power isn't greater than mine, and thou need me?" a different voice asked, sounding angry and aggressive.

"Heracles, if thou will just give me one moment to explain my actio-"

"Explain, then, Ceol," the voice--Heracles said coldly.

"My mother was bedridden. She--she has passed. She fell into the grasp of the Underworld last night," the person who was presumably Ceol said.

"Well, don't leave me again, or thy father will be enraged," Heracles warned.

"I won't, Heracles. I would never leave thee."

"Good."

"What did thou do whilst I was away?" Ceol questioned.

"I obtained the golden apple," Heracles said proudly. "All I had to do was manipulate some foolish girl into helping me."

"What? But what will happen to the girl?" Ceol asked worriedly.

"She will probably be executed," Heracles said nonchalantly.

"But--she helped thee! Shouldn't thou be grateful, at least grateful enough to save her?"

"Why?" Heracles asked. "She won't be useful anymore."

"To repay her for her kindness," Ceol stated, sounding upset. "That is what heroes are supposed to do!"

"Ceol, I want to hear no more of this matter. If it reaches my ears again, I will leave thou alone, and thy father will kill you." Heracles's voice sounded dangerous now.

"I--okay, Heracles," Ceol said, though still sounding perplexed. "If I may, can I go check on something? I believe I heard a noise over there. But it is just a lowly monster sound, nothing a great hero like thee will have to worry about."

"Hurry, then, Heracles said, annoyed.

There was a sound of rustling, then walking. A few minutes later, Ceol's voice rang out.ย

"I can see thou, girl. Are thee the one Heracles was talking about? If thou are, I may have a solution for thee."

A surprisingly familiar voice replied, "What is it?" Her voice was sharp, dangerous, and guarded.

"Seek out Lady Artemis. She will always help a maiden in need."

"Thank you."

"Just--don't let Heracles see thou again," Ceol warned.

"I won't," the voice promised, and the dream ended.

I don't know much about Heracles's story, but I'm pretty sure this part is accurate to the Riordan storyline, other than Ceol, ofc.
