Chenle had his one arm around Myunghee who held his waist to support him, the boy was tired after walking all those hours with Renjun but that wasn't all; Renjun was the bigger baby here, he was getting a comfortable piggy back ride from Jeno who had been walking behind Myunghee, her free hand was held by Jaemin and Haechan led them with his hands in his pockets.
Pebbles on the roads and little rocks were being kicked, some crushed as the friends walked together. Humidity at its finest as they sweat out while walking towards their bikes when they heard whimpers off one of the alleys, only a bit away from their parked bikes.
They didn't stop their movements but it sure was loud enough for them all to hear, it got alarming only when they heard the thrashing of metal and another whimper.
"I'm not just hearing things am I?" Haechan asked in doubt as he turned to look at his friends.
"No, I heard it too," Jaemin said, the rest nod their heads and right then, another pain streaking moan was heard and Haechan didn't waste anytime, taking big steps towards the alley way.
"Jaemin, go with him," Myunghee told Jaemin who left her hand for the first time in a while, his feet following after Haechan till he heard the sound of painful huffs, his eyes turned dark when he saw the root cause- Sehee.
Sehee looked distraught, some of the bandages that he had to use after his brawl with Jaemin still on his body but that didn't stop the boy as he kicked a much weaker, pale and thin boy who whimpered as he felt the brutal kicks in his stomach. He shook and groaned but to their surprise, he didn't even try stopping the blows that he received.
"Sehee," Haechan called out.
The boy looked enraged, he was just about to bolt towards them till Jaemin lift his palm and motioned for him to stop calmly.
"We aren't here to fight, if you keep hurting that kid I won't stop myself from actually getting you in jail," Jaemin told him and Sehee scoffed.
"He's my brother, I can do whatever I want with him-"
"Well, domestic abuse and violence can give you ten years of penalty period, isn't that right, Jeno?" Haechan asked and the boy looked a bit baffled, not knowing much about the law but he made sure to nod strongly.
"You wouldn't want that now would you?" Jeno asked, playing along with Haechan.
Sehee took one last look at the boy on the floor, blood spilling from his mouth, drop by drop. He walked away, not sparing a glance towards anyone else and quietly leaving so as to not make things harder for himself.
Haechan walked to the boy and Jaemin followed, Chenle was crouched down and Jeno was still holding Renjun.
"Hey you okay?" Myunghee asked while Haechan checked his pulse and Jaemin used a tissue he carried, to wipe some of the blood drops off the boy's face.
"Ugh," the boy moaned before hiding his face away.
"Look, we're trying to help you, can we take you to the hospital?" Haechan asked.
"No please no," the boy begged, his hands going to hold Haechan's hand that was beside him, a bit shaky and cold to the touch making Haechan look at him in concern.
"You can just leave me here," the boy whispered.
"If you don't want to go to a hospital, my house is right around the street, we can bring you there," Myunghee said and Haechan looked up to the girl.
"It's fine-"
"Kid, are you looking for death? Instead of being a baby and dying like a wimp just come along, she's trying to help you too," Haechan said sassily but Myunghee nod her head.
Haechan carried the boy as they walked towards the house, the injured was heavy, his body weight large for someone that looked like he did.
"C'mon," Myunghee said as they brought the kid closer to her house.
Haechan laid the boy on the largest couch, clutching his waist after, as he sighed out in relief of completing a task, his back hurting slightly but he didn't pay much attention to it.
"I'll get a first aid," Myunghee said before walking into her house, Jaemin went to her kitchen and opened a cabinet that had a few towels, he washed the towel with warm water making sure it was fully soaked.
"Put it around his stomach," Renjun told Jaemin who adhered, lifting the hurt boy's shirt just enough to keep the warm wet towel on his stomach.
"What's your name?" Jeno asked.
"Here," Myunghee said as she came with a medical kit. Renjun and Chenle worked together when applying the ointment to the boy's wounds and placing a bandaid over them.
"Why was he hitting you bro?" Haechan asked and the boy sighed.
"It's a normal thing?" He said questioningly.
"I still think you need to go to the hospital," Chenle said. His eyes gleaming towards the older boys who nod their heads as well.
"I don't want any more injections," the boy said weakly.
"It's better than having any internal injuries, we'll do a checkup yeah? My uncle is a doctor," Chenle said.
The boys agreed on taking him to the hospital while Myunghee decided to stay in.
"I'm gonna be here," Renjun said, it was obvious that the boy was far too tired for any more physical activity whatsoever and so he stayed back, lying himself in the same couch, eyes droopy as he yawned.
"You can sleep in one of the rooms Renjun," Myunghee said as she shut the door after the rest of them left, leaving her alone with a tired Renjun in the house.
"It's fine, I'll be here till they get back," Renjun said with a smile before shutting his sleepy eyes. Myunghee smiled sadly, seeing her friend fall fast asleep from all the tire after the long day, she walked to her room, taking up all the old packets of cigarettes, looking at them one last time before she decided to throw them away.
She felt a million feelings, the headache from all the withdrawal symptoms of the drug and the pain of not being able to find her friend. Myunghee knew she couldn't drown her sorrows in nicotine anymore and so she walked to her shelves, picking out the least alcoholic wine and quickly pouring it into the biggest wine glass she owned, gulping down the burning taste and breathing out in satisfaction, her insatiable habits making her feel far better than anything else. She drank that night, feeling her lose herself in the beverage as she picked on her pocket to look at the morse coded page one last time. Her hazy and blurry eyesight barely able to see the dots and dashes as she smirked. Her feet moving all unstable as she tried balancing her stance.
She walked to the nearest trash can, not even bothering to open the top and throwing away the paper just like that. She laughed in pain, knowing holding onto that piece of paper for all those years meant nothing after all.
Myunghee took slow and painful steps all the way to her room, resting herself down on the bed, feeling her head turn, eyesight growing darker as she saw black spots, telling her that she was blacking out and before she knew it, she was fast asleep.
