LEE MYUNGHEE

The girl swirled around her halls at the music that played through the vinyl records set aside, she aimed at just drinking a bit, soon changing her mind to finishing more than half the bottle. Myunghee was proud of herself for being a quick learning, with constant practice she achieved something she never could've imagined. Her heartbeat at an erratic pace, chest heaving from the little dances she'd been doing in the solitary confinement of her home.

She leaned her back on the wall, sliding down to sit on the floor, legs folded as she went through her pockets for another cigarette, she lit the tip and within the span of a few minutes, she colored her surroundings grey. Myunghee's vision was hazy as the alcohol drive in her bounced in an adrenaline rush, she could feel the rushing of her blood, her cheeks a bright red as she took large puffs off the little white roll.

Her phone rang and the sound of it caused her a minor headache, the wine kicking in as she slowly lifts herself off the floor, her hand resting on the walls for support as she stumbled her way towards the blaring phone lying on her couch. Myunghee squints her eyes to clear her sights enough to see Jeno's name on the caller ID. A small smile grew on her face, the girl never had to speak to a person when she was wasted but now was a different time.

Myunghee's finger lingered on the green button for a few seconds before she finally slides it towards the right to answer the call.

"Hel-"

"Jeno..." the girl sang, her voice a bit whiny Jeno on the other side of the call was surprised to hear her usually monotone and sultry voice sound adorable through the phone. He stood quiet for a few seconds, thinking he called the wrong number.

"Myunghee?" he called out and heard a long 'hmm' from the other side, as much as he didn't want to, he couldn't. The boy chuckled and it immediately caught the others' attention.

"Who you talking to?" Haechan asked Jeno from behind him, the guy forced Jeno's phone out while he was amused and turned the speaker on.

"Haechan!" the girl squeaked and Haechan teasing smile turned to an embarrassed blush. Before he could ask what was wrong he heard her sneeze and chuckled internally. The rest of the boys smiled to each other to hear a completely different side of their new friend. Jaemin who was drawing images on the sand with a long stick perked his ears at the voice of the girl.

The boys were at a beach where they wanted to spend the late night when Jeno decided to call Myunghee to tell her that she had her first race finalized for the next day.

"Take rest cause you're gonna race tomorrow, your first race Myunghee," Jeno yelled cause his phone was still in the clutches of Haechan who was now waiting for her response.

"My first race?! My first-, Oh Lord, thankyouuu! You have no idea how badly I wanted a job Jeno, I just wanted to reach out to the world outside my house, thank you sooo much-" the girl went on ranting, her voice singing the words that spilled out of her mouth, Renjun held in his giggles as the girl hiccuped in midst of her ted talk.

"I should go now my tummy needs some food, byee!" the girl yelled before disconnecting, and once her voice disappeared the boys finally laughed out loud. Haechan clutched onto his stomach as he tried stabilizing himself, already thinking of the different ways he could torture the girl the next day. In midst of all the commotion, Jaemin had finally finished drawing a little bit of his imagination on the sand below.

His mind played back the words the girl slurred while she was drunk minutes ago, unknowingly,  a small smile took over his lips, not knowing Renjun was watching him, a smile on his face when he saw his friend happy.

The girl had a hard time around Haechan and Renjun who brought out her embarrassment every five minutes. She took a breath to calm herself down and stormed to walk with Jeno and Jaemin instead of being stuck behind with the other two who just didn't stop.

Jaemin turned slightly when he felt someone brush his arm only to see the girl standing in the space that was left between him and Jeno, he watched her side profile for a few seconds before turning his gaze back to the floor whereas Jeno began to speak to the girl.

"You ready? Don't panic like you did the last time, keep breathing and remain calm, only focus on your goal not how far the others are beside you," Jeno nagged like a parent but Myunghee heard him like an obedient kid, nodding towards the end before waiting for 2002 liners to be called out for the night. It was already time for the 2000 liners and she felt by herself again till Chenle sat by her side. The two cheered for the four boys who smiled before stepping on their bikes.

A clear win from Renjun this time and the two younger ones jumped up, Chenle side hugging the girl and jumping in glee as the girl smiled wide. It was time for the 2001 liners and Myunghee could feel herself pinching her own fingers, hoping she wouldn't screw anything up as she did before. Chenle missed the win by a second and the prize went to another girl from the 2001 liners. She felt her heartbeat crazily till she felt a hand rest on her palm, Renjun gave the girl a warm smile.

"Your first time only comes one so don't spend the whole time being nervous about it, go and get ready now," the girl nods her head shooting up one last time only for her eyes to meet those of Jaemin's who gave her a small nod but to Myugnhee it wasn't just a race, she wanted to reach the finish line, she wanted to win.
