𝘈𝘯𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘢'𝘴 𝘗𝘖𝘝

I duck down as he swipes at me with the knife before kicking him hard in the chest. He manages to grab my ankle, pulling me with him as he flies backwards. We both scramble to our feet and he tries to lunge at me again but I dodge him, kicking the blade from his hand.

Using the railing, I leap up and wrap my legs around his head from behind. He tries to pull me forward but I grab onto his hair, throwing myself backwards. I try to suffocate him enough to put him to sleep but he grabs a dagger, stabbing me in the thigh. He then jumps to his feet as I gasp in pain, looking down to see red staining my grey suit.

I turn my head to see James head towards Steve who has pulled up the carrier's chips. Cursing under my breath, I yank the knife out of my leg and try my best to hold in a scream. Steve and James fight back and forth, the blonde trying to put in Fury's chip while the dark haired man fights to stop him from doing so.

I drag myself to my feet just as Steve pulls out one of the carrier's original chips before making a move to replace it with Fury's one, but James interrupts him again. As the two are fighting I run at them, kicking the back of James' leg and he falls to one knee. He reaches back, grabbing me with his metal hand and throws me in front of him. I hit the ground with a thud and James recovers, charging at Steve.

My eyes widen as both of the men fall over the railing, Steve's shield falling out of his hands. I watch as the chip tumbled out of Steve's hand and James slides down the platform, kicking the blonde down onto the lower level. I jump over the railing and slide down the platform myself, snatching the chip up as I pass it. James throws the shield at me, making me wince as it hits me in the ribs before he pulls out his gun to shoot at me. Steve swoops in, grabbing his shield and pulling me behind him to shield us from the bullets.

When the dark haired man runs out of bullets, Steve throws the shield at him but he deflects it with his metal arm before storming towards us. He throws a dagger at me and I try to dodge it but I underestimate it's speed and it slices my cheek, making me groan in pain. I notice him stab Steve in the shoulder and I yank him off the blonde, punching him in the face. He grabs me roughly by the hair and and like a rag doll, he throws me. Steve lands next to me seconds later and shoots me a worried look that I return. My hand reaches towards the pocket I was keeping the chip in but when I can't find the ship my eyes widen in surprise.

I then see James grab it from the floor and Steve grabs him by the throat before slamming him onto the glass floor and twisting his arm back.

"Drop it!" The blonde demands but James tries to punch him with his metal arm, failing "Drop it!"

Steve bends James' arm back further and the latter screams in pain, causing a pain in my own chest.

♔ flashback ♔

The sounds of James' screams echo through the halls as I'm dragged towards the room he's in. We enter the room and my heart drops when I see that they're wiping him again, his screams a lot louder not that I'm up close.

"Она следующая" Mama declares, before glancing at me.
(She's next)

The screams finally stop and they undo his restraints, letting him sit up. His eyes immediately find me and I give him a reassuring smile. He frowns in confusion and I pretend to cough, showing him my wrist that has the letter J carved into it. His eyes fall to his wrist where the letter A is and his lips tug up slightly as the familiarity sets in.

They drag him off the chair and push me into it. I'm given a piece of rubber to bite down on before my arms are locked into place with metal restraints.

James keeps eyes contact with me until I'm tilted back and an agonising pain takes over my body, a bloodcurdling scream escaping my lips.

"Ana, snap out of it!" I hear Steve yell and I shake my head, my dazed state wearing off "Now is not the time for an episode"

"I'm sorry" I apologise but he's already rushing towards the core.

"One minute" Maria warns us as we climb back up to the top level.

A gunshot goes off and Steve falls, a red stain growing on his leg. He shakes it off and continues climbing while I pull out my gun, shooting at James.

"30 seconds, guys" Maria then adds.

"Stand by" Steve groans as I pull myself over the railing and James shoots Steve again, the bullet hitting his back.

"Steve!" I gasp, grabbing the man in concern.

I drop to my knees next to him, my eyes widening when I see the red pool of blood staining his stomach.

"Fuck, no" I mutter, trying to put pressure on the wound.

"The- The chip, Ana" He chokes out, pulling my bloody hands away from his wound.

"But-"

"Now!" He orders.

I grab the chip from his hand and rush towards the core, slipping it into the correct slot. It beeps and flashes green.

"Charlie lock" I inform the woman on the radio before dropping back next to Steve.

"Okay, you two, get out of there" Maria tells us.

"Fire now" Steve declares.

"But, Steve-" Maria tries to object.

"Do it, Maria" I retort, grabbing Steve's hand and he smiles at me warmly "Do it now!"

Loud shots start going off and I help Steve to his feet, the both of us stumbling as the carrier gets shot at. I hear a familiar scream and I look over the railing to see James stuck under a support beam. Steve and I throw ourselves over the railing, landing onto the lower level very ungracefully if I do say so myself. I limp over to the beam, pulling it with all of the strength I have left. The Rogers man joins my side, tugging at the heavy metal beam. With a groan, we lift it enough for James to slip out from under it.

"You know us" Steve abruptly calls out.

"No, I don't!" James screams in rage, throwing his fist at the man who deflects the blow with his shield.

"Bucky" Steve breathes out "You've known me your whole life"

James punches the blonde in the face and I grab the spare gun strapped to my thigh, pointing the barrel at him. He swiftly lifts my arms, causing me to shoot the ceiling before disarming me and pointing my own gun at me.

"James, please. I know you're still in there" I plead but that only seems to anger him even more.

He pulls the trigger and a pain erupts in my stomach. I collapse to the glass floor and my breathing turns to pants in pain as I hold my wound, blood staining my already bloody hands.

"Your name is James Buchanan Barnes" Steve states.

"Shut up!" James roars, punching the man back again.

"I'm not gonna fight you" Steve announces, dropping his shield and I watch as it slips through a hole, falling into the ocean below us "You're my friend"

James all of a sudden let's out a scream of fury and tackles Steve to the floor.

"You're my mission" James argues before repeatedly punching the blonde's face with his metal fist "You're my mission!"

"Then finish it" Steve assures him and a tear runs down my face "Because I'm with you to the end of the line"

I drag myself to my feet and tackle the soldier off of my best friend. We hit the glass and I punch him in the throat, winding him. He recovers pretty quickly and flips us, slamming his metal fist into my face. The metal hand wraps around my throat and I gasp for breath.

"James, it's okay. You hear me? It's okay" I choke out, tears escaping my eyes as he looks down at me in disbelief "One day you're going to get all your memories back and I want you to know that I forgive you. If I die today, it's not your fault"

"And...I love you, James" I add, his eyes shining with unshed tears.

Another support beam starts falling and I scream, using all my strength to push James off me to try and save Steve but it's too late. It smashes a large hole in the glass and Steve falls, tears streaming down my face as I watch his limp body hit the water.

Everything suddenly starts crumbling to pieces  and I look up to see the core beam headed right for me. I squeeze my eyes shut, accepting the fact that this may be the day I die and the beam hits me. My body smashes through the glass, pain radiating throughout every inch of me as I hit the water just like Steve.

The last thing I remember before everything goes black is a metal hand grabbing my arm.
