The Senate commitment is pretty much what you want it to be; we just expect everyone to have some degree of commitment (respond to messages, offer to take tasks you're interested in, etc.).

I'm Red (TheRedSourPatchKid), and some weeks I spend more than an hour doing things for the Senate. Other weeks, I do virtually nothing for the Senate except responding to Rose's messages. It's really dependent on how much you want to take on. When I know I'm going to be busy, I commit to less and communicate to everyone that they might not hear a whole lot from me. If I know I'm going to have some time on my hands, then heck yeah, I'll take on that extra magazine article. My advice as someone currently in the Senate is to just decide how you want to budget your time and not take on more than you can reasonably handle on top of your other real-life commitments, okay?

That being said, we do have contingency plans for you if you ever get sent on a quest, kidnapped by Hera, trapped in a jar, forced to hold the sky... You know, the usual day-to-day surprises.

The Demigod Community is run in "seasons," which are essentially four three-month long periods during the year. Once you are in the Senate, you are welcome to take a season-long break from the Senate should you need to pack up your pomegranate seeds for a hibernation period in... the jar. As the current season ends, just be sure to communicate to the rest of the Senate (but mostly Rose) that you need to take the next season off and you'll be back for the following one. You won't have to reapply to join the Senate for the following season, but you technically won't be a member for the upcoming one. Therefore, your username and bio won't be listed on any of the associated accounts or in this book, but we'll put them back in when you rejoin.

We're all about keeping this fun and stress free for everyone, so if you need a short break (like for a vacation or something), you can communicate that too and we will try not to bother you!
