"Mr. Suh, your dinner with the Chairman is tonight," I inform Johnny while he had his morning coffee, his brows raised before he nod his head.
It was odd to always refer to his father as Chairman, knowing they were supposed to be much more than that but their relation was never much like that of a father and son. Moreover, Johnny always visited such meetings with Minyoung, the daughter in law to the family, so it was also his first time visiting this meeting by himself.
"What are you doing tonight?" Johnny asked, making my blink in surprise as I cleared my throat.
"I have to walk my dogs," I answered and Johnny furrowed his brows.
"Since when do you have dogs? Wasn't your grandmother allergic to fur?" Johnny asked and I curved my lips into a sheepish smile, my hold on a few files tightening.
Just why did he have to remember a detail as such.
"Raven?" He called, a questioning gaze on his face.
"Do I make you uncomfortable?" Johnny asked genuinely and I shook my head at once.
"No Sir, of course not," I answered, he truely didn't so I could never have him think that he made my workplace uncomfortable.
"Then is it okay if I ask you to join the dinner tonight?" Johnny asked after, still waiting for my consent and I recalled what I was to do anyway.
"It'd be a pleasure Mr. Suh," I responded, my gaze falling to the floor shortly, knowing whatever happened now wasn't real, it was a timely gesture.
"Good, you'll be picked up from your place at 6, dress well, one of my close friends will be there too, I'm sure you must've heard of him," Johnny said with a little knowing smile that got me thinking.
I knew most of his business friends, if I didn't know one then it meant that the friend was a closer one, the little fact making me excited like a child. Pushing the thought away I bow once before the man and leave his room, holding my hands on my sides right after, tired of always having to put on a pleasing smile because of my God gifted resting bitch face.
Minyoung stopped texting me as often, I kept ignoring her texts or giving her late replies that got her understanding that her threats meant nothing, now she only called me up and let me know what she truely wanted to say.
At home, I was a complete fuss, looking through multiple dresses in frustration, they were all pretty, no doubt to that, but there's always that one dress that you're looking for and it's always hidden somewhere.
"Yes," I exclaimed when I found the beautiful silver shiny shimmery dress I only wore on special occasions, the last time I wore it I still bore some flesh so it wasn't as fitting on me anymore, sighing as I took in the features of my body.
Lost weight again.
And not on purpose.
The dress wasn't highlighting my proportions like it did the first time I wore it but it looked beautiful regardless, I smiled at the person in the mirror, trying to love her despite her flaws as I wore a little makeup that went well with my dress, a mauve shade of lipstick to end with before I went to go show Grandma the look.
"My my, someone looks adorable," she commented as she rose up from the couch to place a kiss on my forehead.
"Don't be nervous, be yourself and free, you're best when you are my Raven," she said softly making my lips curve into a smile and I gave her my goodbyes before leaving.
A beautiful black metal rolled up right in front of my gate and I entered the car, an awkward ride as the driver seemed more focused on the roads, I didn't mind as I gleamed at the view outside, the buildings got progressively bigger and for a moment I felt my heart skip a beat.
Where were we going to meet?
The driver pulled up beside the largest building and I sighed.
Johnny was extra. No arguments.
Though the man at the driver's seat was quiet all along, he was kind enough to walk all the way to my door and open it for me, though I could've done it myself. Nodding at him once, I continued walking, recalling grandma's words and reminding myself to be confident and not wilt under any circumstances.
"Do you have a reservation ma'am?" The lady at the front desk asked politely and as I smiled to answer, a voice spoke behind me.
"She's with me," Johnny spoke out loud making the lady nod in understanding.
"Enjoy your time here, miss," she continued.
"Thank you," I mutter before walking towards Johnny opened the door, waiting for me to set foot in.
The place was beautiful, the sizzling smell of Chinese cuisine while the walls were painted red, lamps emitting yellow light giving the large room a dull yet bright setting that I loved. Johnny searched for familiar faces, one of his hands in the depths of his pocket before be turned to me.
"Raven, meet Kim Doyoung and Shim Rael," Johnny introduced as we neared a table and I felt mesmerized.
How could two people be so darn beautiful?
I smiled in awe and the lady I knew to be called Rael smiled back, I knew I saw her somewhere but I couldn't tell exactly.
The atmosphere suddenly grew tense on me, I felt the tightening around my chest upon realizing that I was probably the only one around that table with the least experience and the least accomplishments.
"Hey, ease up, love," Rael said, seated beside me and her aura was something I never received from a woman before, she reminded me of a rose, beautiful yet dangerous if handled wrong. I didn't even realize I had been staring at her till I heard Johnny clear his throat.
Turning my head to look away I heard Rael's little chuckle.
I'm not gay. I'm not gay. I'm not gay.
Well, tonight was going to be an experience, that's for sure.
