"Fit this camera anywhere around his office."
"No."
"I can still ruin your life."
"Be it whatever, I'm not invading his privacy."
With those words, I disconnect the call. Minyoung rung my number at 7 in the morning, successfully ruining my mood for the day. I was already overworking myself for her and now she wanted me to do something that could invade Johnny's privacy apart from his work ethic.
I wasn't going to comply to that.
Saying no wasn't that hard for me to do but I was worried at the same time.
She could open her big mouth but then again, what would she achieve? I too had proof of her stupid plans that could equally ruin her just as much as she could ruin Johnny.
So, I gave up on that thought, all fear that was once in me now oozed away as a newfound confidence settled into my senses, I didn't have to be afraid of her.
But if I know Minyoung better, she wouldn't stop unless she gets what she wants.
Groaning as I got ready faster than usual that morning, it annoyed me how I had to run around the office because Minyoung couldn't stop being petty. As I reached the office, about ten minutes earlier than I knew Johnny could arrive, I walked all the way to his office, greeting the staff that stood nearby.
The rumors had come down significantly, no one back chatted anymore and I was glad about it. As I entered the office, taking off my trench coat to place it on the usual stand, I noticed one of the janitors being a little too careful about his works.
"What are you doing there?!" I asked aloud, making the man stop on his steps, I took large strides towards him as he pretended to dust the little shelf and when he felt me near him, the man turned on his heels and quickly left the room.
His actions obviously got me alarmed but before I could follow him, I made sure to search the place he had his hands on, surfing my hands through the shelf, my eyes landed on the little shiny object. My brows furrowed as I tried grabbing it, standing on my tippy toes to reach it, I cursed my stupid height that didn't support me at times like these.
"What are you doing?" A strict monotone spoke and I lost my balance but used my arms to hold myself straight, looking over my shoulder I noticed Johnny, now walking towards me and I gulped.
"Move aside," Johnny said and I looked up at him wide eyed.
"Pardon," I said, but he paid no heed.
"Move aside, Raven," his voice dropped an octave and I gulped, moving away from the shelf that he very easily reached with his long legs.
His hand pushed towards the object my eyes caught on earlier and he pulled it out.
A camera.
I fucking knew it.
Seeing how I didn't let Minyoung's plans come to life, I smirked. And because life is very kind to me, Johnny noticed my smirk.
"May I ask why you were fitting a camera in my office?" Johnny asked and my lips parted in disbelief.
"I didnt-" I started but his jaws bucked, making me nervous.
"I promise, it was the janitor, I caught him midst the act," I told Johnny but his face showed me no signs of belief, neither disbelief, making me conflicted as I stood straight in my spot.
"Trust me," I told him.
Ironic as it was, I wanted him to believe me. I mentally rolled my eyes at my own words.
Johnny said nothing, he dropped the camera on the floor, it being only the size of his thumb print. Once it hit the cold floor, Johnny stamped the device, the crackling sound noising at us and I flinched, Johnny's eyes never left mine as he did the little act and it took me all power in the world to not gulp, if I did, he'd only think I lied.
He looked away and I used that second to take a deep breath, hitching on my throat and he turned to face me again. The next few acts nowhere near my expectations.
He walked towards me, my feet involuntarily moving backwards still the back of my head hit the shelf corner.
My eyes closed tight at the pain, no noises leaving my mouth to exclaim the pain as I bit my lip, my head down. I felt his hand touch the spot where I hurt myself and slowly massage the spot making the pain lighten. I stared at the ground while I felt his protruding gaze on the top of my head, gulping I looked up when he retrieved his hand.
"Sorry for the misconception," Johnny apologized and I watched him walk to his seat, placing the back of his head on the headrest of his office chair and I watched as he calmed his nerves, taking deep breaths and I smiled.
If this happened a week ago, he would've scold me left and right but he didn't now, he tried to control his rage and that little thing made my heart flutter.
"I'm glad it wasn't you, you're one of the few people I trust at the moment, that one thing and I could've lost all of it and thrown you out of the company in a matter of seconds, invasion of privacy may be a legal crime but to me it's more than just that," Johnny said, his voice sounding rather serene than rough and I pursed my lips into forming a smile.
He trusted me..
The little word brought a lot of baggage along with it, like a sweet burden.
Fuck, Raven you're here to distract him, not yourself.
