it's been six years since amane last saw [name], he was now in his final year of elementary and soon he will start another year without [name] when he became a first year in middle school. amane barely remembered what she looked like but he does hold dear of their memories together.

amane is currently in sixth grade. the phase where you do cringy stuffs and later on look back and shudder because of how much of an idiot you are. amane still loves astronomy, he never grew out of that phase despite being called a geek, he doesn't care as long as he is happy. their teacher entered the classroom as everyone scrambled back to their seats. "class, i have an announcement to make."

the teacher opened his notes as he went in front. "we will be having a new student." amane continued to doodle constellations and crescent moons on his notebook out of boredom. he glanced over to some group of girls by the corner who were excited about meeting the new student. serika and kyoko are also new students but they started school at the beginning of the school year, and the two girls were friends with natsuki and mahiru, who were old students.

"you may go inside."

a girl with [hair color] hair with bangs and [eye color] eyes entered the classroom as everyone in class went silent. it caught amane's attention, putting his pen down to look at the familiar girl that he used to be friends with back in kindergarten—now that he saw her again, his heart started to hammer inside his chest. "introduce yourself." the teacher said while patting her on the back.

"my name is [name] [surname]. i used to live here in kamome back when i was little but i moved to osaka and now i am back here." [name] clasped her hands together and bowed slightly. "please take care of me." amane continued to stare at her as her [eye color] eyes wandered around the classroom, then their eyes met—they immediately looked away from each other.

"pretty..." amane mumbled under his breath with a small blush on his cheeks, he puts his head on top of his folded arms while peeking a little to admire [name]. he blinked. 'did i just said that?'

"other than that—wait there [surname]—we will be having a new seating arrangement." the teacher announced that made everyone groan excluding amane because he doesn't mind where he is going to sit. usually, sitting arrangements are by alphabetical order but sometimes, the teacher wants to spice things up in the classroom so she decided to propose new sitting arrangements each quarter. "if i call you by your full name, stand up and i will tell you where you are going to sit."

amane was silently praying that he gets to sit next to [name], maybe he can help her reconcile their friendship together and pick up where they left to. hopefully [name] didn't forget him. "serika aoi, sit next to killua zoldyck. kyoko sakura sit next to mahiru koyanagi." the teacher scanned the whole area for potential students to sit on the third row. "amane yugi, sit next to [name] [surname]."

amane flinched, he slowly looked at [name] which she smiled and gave him a small wave. does she remember him? of course she did amane, how could she forget about her first friend in kamome? the two of them sat next to each other. "hi." [name] sheepishly greeted him once she was seated.

"h-hello..." amane stammered while placing his pencil case and notebook on his new desk. [name] took a peek on his notebook, she tilted her head to amane's direction and smiled that he still draws stars, the moon and planets like he did in his childhood.

"i see that you still draw..." [name] giggled. amane stared at his small drawings, then at [name] as his lips curled up into a small smile. they had a lot to catch up with and the best opportunity to do that when it was time for lunch.

"[name], can we eat lunch together?—" amane tried to ask [name] to eat with him as an excuse to talk to her more but then serika managed to pop in to the conversation, completely ignoring that amane was talking to [name].

"hey [surname]-chan, wanna eat lunch with us?" serika asked while holding her hand and dragging her way from amane, leaving him dumbfounded at the sudden situation. [name] nodded nervously at serika, following along with her classmate's offer of eating lunch together. she looked back at amane, giving him an awkward smile.

amane sighed, she's already being hogged by students on her first day. looks like he has to resort to his last choice which is asking tsukasa to eat with him so that he wouldn't feel lonely. "amane, amane!" speaking of which, tsukasa came running towards his older brother and engulfed him with a big hug. "wanna eat lunch together?"

the older twin smiled. "sure."

tsukasa's twin instinct started to kick in once he noticed his older brother's sudden change of look while he was ranting about his day, he decided to ask him about it. "amane? are you even listening to me?" tsukasa deadpanned.

"o-oh?" amane was startled, he didn't hear his brother's explanation because he was distracted by thinking of something else, specifically [name]'s return to kamome after five years. "sorry tsu, i got distracted." amane smiled apologetically while rubbing the back of his hair. but tsukasa wasn't buying it so he eyed his brother in suspicion.

"hm. what is it?"

"not telling you."

"that's suspicious."

tsukasa puts his hands on his hips as he circled around amane like some kind of vulture. "i am sensing something weird from you." he said while moving closer to his brother while narrowing his eyes. "you were bothered because you got declined by a girl when you asked her if you can eat lunch with her." tsukasa pulled away with a big smile on his face.

"how long have you been watching?!—" amane flinched.

"no, answer my question first." tsukasa shushed amane by putting a finger on his lips. "who are you trying to ask?" he asked while wiggling his eyebrows. amane scoffed with a blush on his face, shoving tsukasa slightly and looked away. the older yugi sighed and explained that [name] is back to tsukasa. "wait so [name] is back?—"

"mhm, i was trying to ask her if we can eat lunch together but, she was being dragged by serika aoi." amane slumped his shoulders in disappointment. tsukasa bit his lip trying not to smile so widely once he red the situation at hand. his brother feels sad because he wanted to eat lunch with [name]. he came up with a plan. "but i must admit, [name] looks pretty—which is odd because she's always pretty from the start, then again, she is pretty—hey, did i mention that [name] is pretty—"

"you said pretty three times in one sentence, amane." tsukasa said with an unamused look. amane blinked stupidly, his face grew red for saying that out loud even tsukasa heard him. "ohohoho~ is this you finally realizing that you're crushing on her and not missing her?~"

"it's not like that!" amane defensively tells him. "jeez tsukasa, you're too loud!" the yugi twins started teasing with each other while walking through the hallways during lunch. 'i only miss [name], there's no way i'm crushing on her right?' he asked himself, not realizing that he bumped into someone.

"oomf—"

because of amane's mind wandering to wonderland he wasn't aware of his surroundings and he ended up bumping against the person in front of him. before the person landed on the ground, he caught her by putting his hands on the sides of her shoulders. "sorry, are you okay?" he asked.

at that moment, [name] lifted her head up as the two made eye contact for what it seemed like a very long time. being eleven is such a weird experience, a self-discovery of things you never thought it could happen to you because his feelings for [name] was always in a state of denial and now he realized what it was all along.

first love.

amane's grip tightened around her shoulders making [name] flustered as he is. it was only her first day back yet he finds himself continuing the fall from where he left years ago. he was starting to gather his feelings for him to keep then disguising them as a feeling of missing someone when it was more than that.

"yieee—yugi is hitting on the new girl!"

"they look so compatible!"

"ah yes, spring."

"but it's summer."

amane couldn't take his classmates' teasings, especially when he was just helping [name] to prevent her from falling to the ground. it annoyed him how these people already have the heart eyes just by two people next to each other creating a bigger issue when there's nothing between them. 'ugh—why am i crushing over my long lost friend, we just reunited!'

and what he did next was quite bold, amane grabbed [name] and took her way from the group of students to a part of the school where there are no students. tsukasa watched the scene unfold, raising his fist while watching his older brother and [name] run away. "go amane! steal her away!" he shouted as he cheered on to his brother.
