If only [Name] was told in advance about the people she'll meet over the course in her life so she could gather them and have a story telling session about Souho. "I-It's okay if you don't want to tell me Senpai!" Kou waved his hands frantically to make [Name] change her mind if she felt hesitant.
"That person was the reason why I summoned Hanako in the first place."
Kou's eyes widened slightly. [Name] motioned the blonde exorcist to follow her to the rooftop to tell him the whole story. "He ghosted me for more than a week so I thought maybe he's busy with his academics—since he always get high grades and ranks first in examinations when I saw him ranked first from his class." [Name] envied that part of him, although she's smart but she's too unmotivated and burned out to show it. "Then, I saw him hanging out with another girl from his class—I didn't have the right to stomp my way there and accuse him for cheating because first of all, we don't have a label and there's no commitment, just two people who liked each other."
"Eventually, he replaced me after he ghosted me." [Name] sighed out with a sad smile. "I didn't know what to do at that time because there's no explanation so I assumed that there's something wrong about me, or maybe he fell out of love." Kou furrowed his eyebrows, how dare that person leave [Name] wondering whether it was her fault that she was ghosted.
"I overheard some girls talking about the ghost haunting the girl's bathroom which is Hanako and that the ghost grants you a wish and takes something important from you. So, I wanted to try it out to see if the rumor is true or not. If not, I would go through my average boring life."
[Name]'s voice turned to a hint of regret. "When I summoned Hanako-kun, it gave me an opportunity, it was my chance to get some of my wishes granted but I was too blinded by hurt—that's why I made my wish." Kou stopped, his hand holding the handle of the stairway.
"Then, what is your wish?"
[Name] smiled, turning around to face Kou since she was ahead of him. "I wished for Souho Shirasagi to suffer." The wind blew by as the blonde haired boy brushed his bangs to the side to look up at his senior. "I know it's wrong for me to wish for someone's suffering but in the end I paid the price last minute because of my desperation."
"I didn't exactly got what I wanted but...I got something better." [Name] smoothed her fingers at the handle, smiling her to herself when she remembered that day, in that classroom, where Hanako gave her epiphany that revenge is not always for bad intentions, sometimes it's making your life better than theirs. "Sometimes, I still think about Souho, how we'll turn out if he never ghosted me and if we never established a relationship. Then maybe, we would still be friends."
They both arrive at the rooftop and sat down on the bench to continue talking. "It's been a while since I felt this sense of longing when I go to the rooftop. I remembered when Souho and I got into a fight during our friendship I'd go here pondering and waiting for him to come back and fix things." [Name] lifted her legs to hug her knees, a frown forming upon her lips. "And I don't think he's going to come back anymore."
"Since he ghosted you..." Kou smiled, tilting his head to the side. "Want me to exorcise him?"
"Pfft—that's a good one." [Name] cackled as she nudged him. Kou felt embarrassed for initiating a joke but [Name] assured him that she loves jokes especially corny ones—she also loves making puns and it's always during the worst possible moment. "I could've wished for a house, a car or a ring. Or maybe ask Hanako if he can change the course of my relationship with Souho."
"But you can't wish for something like that. You just need to accept that it's never going to go back the way things were as much as you want to." [Name] sighed sadly. "You just have to let them go." Why is it the wind always come by when a character says something relatable anyways? Kou wondered that sometimes.
"Are you happy that Shirasagi-senpai ghosted you?"
'Am I happy?' She was reminded of a certain event where her Math teacher told the class something that will forever stay in her mind instead of her teacher's lectures. You can only determine whether a decision is good or bad when you get the consequence of your actions. If Souho became happy after ghosting [Name] if at some point he thought it's a bad decision—then it's a good decision for him.
And Bentham's utilitarianism is shit.
But it makes sense because many of [Name]'s peers were mad because of Souho ghosting her, therefore, it's bad. "I wouldn't meet that childish ghost if Souho never ghosted me." It's like the rules on making a wish to Hanako, you wish for something and in exchange, he takes something important from you. "Oh well, things are bound to happen. But I'm already glad having this instead of continuing my old boring life."
"In short, meeting you Minamoto-kun is one of the best things that happened to me after Souho ghosted me." Kou couldn't help but to blush at his senpai's words, then he smiled brightly at [Name].
"I'm glad to meet you too, Senpai!" Kou cheered.
[Name] chuckled, reaching over to ruffle his blonde locks. Just then, Yashiro came to the rooftop holding her bag along with [Name]'s in between huffs. [Name] sweatdropped, completely forgetting that she was supposed to be back after talking (fighting) with Souho. "There you are [Name]!" Yashiro ran towards [Name], grabbing her arm to check the sides. "Did he hurt you? Are you okay?"
"Don't worry Nene, he didn't. Even if he did try to, he'd end up sleeping with one eye and a broken arm." [Name] grinned while taking her bag back from Yashiro. "By the way are you going home how? I have to clean Hanako-kun's bathroom."
"Mhm!" Yashiro nodded.
"I think I should go home too." Kou added.
[Name] smirked playfully at Kou, she grabbed his arm and whispered something at him. "It's your chance." She told him. "You think I didn't know that you have a crush on her?" Kou began to malfunction on how [Name] found out, he was being obvious anyways considering he blushes around Yashiro.
Especially when she smiles.
[Name] grabbed Kou's shoulders as she playfully moved him in front of Yashiro. "So Minamoto-kun, how about you walk Nene home for me to ensure that she's safe?" She asked with a slightly teasing tone.
'Senpai, what are you doing?!' Kou asked her with the use of telepathy. [Name] immediately got what he was thinking by the reaction on his face. She smirked while putting a hand on her waist.
'I'm setting you up, come on. You're the only guy I trust to to walk her home.' [Name] mentally told Kou in which he sighed in defeat, you just can't turn down an opportunity especially when your crush is involved. 'Thank me later~!'
"[Name]-senpai wants me to walk home with you, I hope you don't mind it." Kou shyly tells Yashiro which the cream haired girl smiled while clasping her hands together in delight.
"It's fine!" Yashiro reassured him with a giggle. Kou swore his heart skipped a beat at the sight. [Name] sighed hopelessly, wishing that there's someone out there who would look at her the same way Kou looks at Yashiro. "Bye [Name]! See you tomorrow—and tell me the details later!"
The two teens exit the rooftop leaving [Name] on her own once again. She blinked when she saw Hanako appear out of nowhere. "Are they dating now?" Hanako asked curiously.
"Hmm nah, I told Minamoto-kun to walk Nene home for me since I have to clean the bathroom remember?"
The [hair color] haired girl turned around to look at the view of the sunset, an ombre mixture of purple descending to orange and pink with mini stars appearing amongst the skies.
"[Name], I'm sorry."
[Name] glanced next to Hanako who was lowering his hat while blushing to cover his eyes and choppy fringes. [Name] also blushed because of the incident where the mokkes dared Hanako to pull a kabedon on her against the wall and he was supposed to kiss her on the lips—then he did kiss her on the side of her lips. "W-Well, it's no big deal!" She reassured while fanning her now blushing face. "I mean, i-it's not like I hate it."
"I just can't believe that happened." [Name] slides down to crouch on the floor, burying her face on top of her folded arms. Hanako notices her ears were turning red. He sat down on the floor, raising his knee to put his arm on top of it while tilting his head upwards as he watched the skies turn dark.
The apparition boy may be easily flustered, but [Name] could sense him playfully smirking while she wasn't looking. "Is that so?" Hanako asked. [Name] smacked his shoulder before lifting her head and puffing her cheeks at him to indicate that she was pouty by his actions.
"Quit teasing me." [Name] grumbles. Out of nowhere, she takes his hat and put it on her head and Hanako was surprised because it was unexpected, without his hat it's like he's just a regular boy. [Name] thought that he looked more attractive if he takes off his hat—then again, with or without the hat he still looks handsome. "I'll wear this for a moment."
[Name] stands up from the floor, dusting off her skirt as she twirled around to imitate Hanako. "Hi!~ I'm Hanako but with the kun!" She said while tipping her cap with a slight bow. "You may be wondering why I'm a boy, I don't know either—but I fight evil supernaturals, fear meee!!" [Name] grinned, then she pretends to wield a knife by doing slicing motions to copy the ghost's movements.
"I don't act like that!" Hanako chuckles at her trying to imitate him. He thought it was cute, he felt his stomach tickle with soft touches causing him to grin at the feeling. "You're totally bad at acting." When was the last time he ever laughed like this? It feels like their meeting is serendipitous and that he didn't remember what loneliness feels like.
Because she's there. Hanako tackled her from behind to hug her as [Name] elicited a blissful giggle. Their voices of their laughter colliding together like a mellifluous sound. The two of them ended up on the floor with Hanako's arms wrapped around her waist as they sat down. Hanako brings his hands to cup her mochi-like cheeks. "Hanako-kun, stob squishin mah cheeksh..." [Name] tries to tell him but Hanako didn't listen since he doesn't understand, he only shrugged and continued squishing her cheeks.
"How can I stop...your cheeks are like mochi~" Hanako gently pinches her cheeks. [Name] was annoyed at the fact that Hanako was treating her like a mochi instead of a person. "So soft, hehe..." He whispered as he continued to massage them. [Name] sighed, her hands trailed upwards to place them on top of Hanako's hands that were cupping her cheeks.
[Name] gave Hanako a closed-eye grin. For some reason, Hanako's face heated up as he loosens his hands on her cheeks, he may look calm but his nonexistent heart was doing little flips of joy and internally panicking because he was blushing. [Name] had an idea, she smoothed her skirt while adjusting her legs. "Hanako-kun, wanna lay on my lap?"
Hanako must remain calm, [Name] just asked him if he wanted to lay on her lap. He really wanted to, a million times yes. He wanted to nuzzle his cheek against her soft thighs and even being smothered by them, he might as well find the home there. Hanako gently falls on her thighs, he was about to melt at the softness. His lips curled upwards while nuzzling his cheek against her lap. [Name] runs her fingers through his locks earning a sound of satisfaction from the boy. Like a cat.
"It's been a while since I laid on something soft." Hanako says with a relaxed sigh. It feels like a bliss to him and everything that is happening right now is perfect at any rate. [Name] smiled in pure fondness. Other than being a Seventh Wonder of the School, a ghost, and a supernatural—in the end, he's still an ordinary boy who loved the stars and was awkward with words.
Hanako's free hand made its way to hold [Name]'s other hand, interlacing their fingers together as he slowly closed his eyes to doze off a little bit. Her comfort was lulling him to sleep. Even though he is a ghost and that he doesn't need any rest, it feels nice eitherway. [Name] leaned against the railings of the rooftop, looking up to the sky while watching the colors fade into shades of blue and purple.
The stars became visible and the moon slowly rising up to the sky. Hanako opened his eyes to see the wonderful view of the night sky with twinkling stars and the illustrous moon. His love for the moon and stars never changed throughout the years of being bound into the school. He doesn't forget to come out every night to stargaze, rant to the moon and connect the constellations.
[Name] adjusted the hat on top of her head, looking at the moon then back at Hanako who was in awe at the sight of the scenery above him. "Hanako-kun, how can you tell if something or someone is beautiful?" She asked, bringing her hand back to brush his hair with her fingers once again. Hanako hummed to think about it, he always thought that the night sky itself is pretty.
Hanako's amber eyes landed on [Name] as he finally thought of an answer to her question. He carressed her hand that he was holding using his thumb. "I usually stargaze by myself, so I thought that the moon and stars are beautiful. I can still tell whether someone is beautiful even if they are present. If I look away from either, that's where I knew that they're pretty." Hanako turned around to get a better view of the night sky while he was laying on [Name]'s lap. He flashed her a grin, a soft one that is enough to erupt butterflies in someone's stomach.
"The moon looks so beautiful, isn't it?" Hanako asked, sitting up slightly.
[Name] nodded in agreement as she glanced at the beautiful moon above them, glowing amongst the thousand of stars. "Yeah, it looks pretty."
"Yet I'm here looking at you." Hanako tilted his head to the side while grinning ear to ear of how smooth he is. [Name]'s face turned red because of Hanako indirectly calling her pretty, she lowered the hat to cover her eyes. "Hey~ don't hide from me, I wanna see how pretty you are~" Hanako lifted the hat to see more of her visuals, moving away a strand of hair by tucking it behind her ear and he is right when he thought [Name] was pretty.
His amber eyes flickered down to look at her lips. He couldn't tell whether they were glossy because of her lipgloss or was it because of the thin streaks of moonlight reflecting upon it. Hanako could feel himself getting closer as he subtly placed his hand on top of hers while leaning in—he waited for her to tell him that he was too close which he'll most likely answer that he liked being close.
But [Name] didn't. She was staring at him with half-lidded eyes as if she was waiting for something and that is for Hanako to make the first move. Hanako didn't mind pulling any moves, he will never complain if he was asked to be forward to someone, his constant flirtiness and his position as a leader of the wonders gave it away that he'll lead something like this.
And this is where he quietly reassures her, more like in his head, that he'll take the lead. Hanako tilted his head while closing his eyes, sinking in to aim for that part of her that he yearns to take. A relief that he gets to be the first one to do so, then [Name] started closing her eyes as well. When two stars in outer space gets to collide so slowly—something extraordinary will happen after that.
A blue star. That star will be added along with a bunch of stars as they all move through the night sky to witness a lifetime. The vast sea of stars will always be there for everyone while they have records of the past and the future. Even if you felt like taking a break from the world, you can always look up to the stars at night, because they're not going anywhere.
[Name] felt her phone vibrate through her pocket. She pulled out her phone to see that her manager was calling her. Hanako moved away from [Name] as he helped her stand up. "Hanako-kun, I gotta go home to take the call." She accepted the call while covering the microphone, grabbing her bag to exit the rooftop. "I'll see you tomorrow!" Hanako hummed in response, putting his hands behind his back while watching her leave the school.
Then, Hanako had an epiphany. "Donuts, huh?"
