Sayori

"Hey, Y/N!!"

You immediately recognized Sayori's voice, even through the noise of the other students crowded in the hallway. She dashed through the sea of people, narrowly avoiding a few collisions and almost tripping before making it to your side.

"Here you are," she huffed, quickly fixing her hair before beaming brightly. "Sorry, this is so random, but are you still looking for a club to join? You kinda looked like it, so I figured I should ask."

"Yeah, actually." You gestured at the bulletin board in front of you. You'd been looking at different flyers for a few minutes. "I haven't really narrowed it down yet, but—"

"It's okay, that's great!!" Sayori exclaimed, grabbing your hand in excitement. "Y/N, I know I've already asked, but would you pleeeeease consider checking out my club?? I'm the vice president, y'know!! You'd be my favorite— and really, it's a lot of fun!!"

You laughed, her contagious energy spreading to you. "What club is it again?"

"Literature Club!! And wait, before you roll your eyes—" Sayori darted between you and the board like she could block every other club option. "It's really, really great. It's kinda small, so you don't need to worry about interacting with, like, dozens of other people. Plus, everyone is really great, and I actually just convinced MC to join!! He was reluctant at first, but he actually really likes it, and—"

"Sayori, it's okay," you managed to get out through your giggling. "You don't need to convince me. I'll just come check it out for a day, okay?"

"Really?" An overjoyed smile immediately spread across her face. "Oh my gosh, thanks, Y/N!! I honestly wasn't expecting you to agree so quickly, hehe!!"

You shook your head playfully. "Well, I'm not MC. Wasn't he trying to join the anime club or something? He must have taken a while to convince."

"I mean, yeah! But he's a nerd," Sayori joked before grabbing your hand again and tugging you down the hallway. "C'mon, the club's about to start!! I can't wait for you to meet everyone!! I'm so glad you're joining the Literature Club."

"Hey, I'm not joining for sure," you protested, though you put little to no force behind the statement.

"Nah. You'll definitely want to stay." Sayori shot you a wink over her shoulder. "If not for the club, then at least for me, right?"

"Geez, Sayori, I feel a little threatened," you teased, but didn't say anything denying her statement.

Eventually, the hallways began to calm down as she led you further into the building. After a few minutes of walking, you finally arrived in front of a closed door. Nothing outwardly remarkable, but you could hear the sounds of people talking inside. Sayori took a deep breath before grabbing the door handle and smiling at you.

"Welcome to the Literature Club, Y/N."

Monika

You didn't know who you expected when Sayori dragged you into the club room, but it definitely wasn't Monika of all people. Your expression must have been completely flabbergasted, because Sayori broke out giggling when she looked back at you.

Monika was also smiling when you looked back at her, looking like she was trying to hold back laughter as well. "Hello again, Y/N!! Are you here to join the Club?"

"Uh— yeah, I am," you said, quickly getting over your initial shock. "Sayori convinced me to join, so..."

"Well, as the president of the club, I'd love to formally welcome you, ahaha!!" Her smile widened as she held out her hand. "Thanks for giving the Literature Club a chance."

"Yeah, of course." You glanced around the room, feeling a little flustered as you shook her hand. "Sayori's been singing praises about it for a few weeks now, so I'm definitely looking forward to it."

And after half an hour, you could see why your friend was so invested in the club. You didn't have very high expectations, but it ended up being incredibly enjoyable, simultaneously relaxing and fun.

You were sitting at a desk, trying to think of how to finish the poem Monika had assigned a few minutes ago, when the club president herself pulled out a seat next to you.

"Oh— hey, Monika," you spoke, hastily setting your pencil down and flipping the paper over.

"What are you writing there, Y/N?" she teased, tapping your poem with her finger. "No need to feel self-conscious, if that's what this is. I actually came over to see if you were doing okay."

You glanced down at the paper, contemplating how to respond. "I— I don't really share my writing that often outside of assignments, so I'm not... very good at it, I guess. Sorry, I just wanted my poem to be more than halfway done before I show it to anyone."

Monika giggled to herself and gently patted your forearm in reassurance. "Don't worry about that. And if you're struggling with writing a poem, here's a writing tip that helps me; try to think about someone or something specific when you're writing. That can help you narrow your focus down to a certain topic. Also, remember that not all poems rhyme, ahaha!!"

"Thanks, Monika. That was.... really helpful, actually." You smiled and fidgeted with your pencil. "You're a great club president. I really love it here so far."

"Oh, stop," she exclaimed, a light blush spreading across her face. "It's a group effort, not just me."

You shrugged and leaned back in your chair. "If you insist."

Monika laughed again before standing back up. "Well, in any case, I'll leave you to it. I'm sure you can come up with something. Remember: it doesn't have to be perfect— as long as it's something you aren't mortified to share, then it's plenty good, okay?"

"Thank you," you chuckled, picking up your pencil again. "I'll keep that in mind."

Monika shot you a smirk over her shoulder. Her smile really was gorgeous. It was easy to see why so many people had asked her out. "Good luck, Y/N."

Natsuki

"I'm telling you, you're going to love the other members," Sayori chatted as she led you down the hall. "It might take a bit of time for them to, y'know, open up, but seriously, they're all amazing!! They're what makes the club so fun."

"You'd make a good salesperson," you teased as you approached the clubroom.

"Maybe that's my future career," she joked as she grabbed the door handle. "And hey, if anything gets a little overwhelming, just let me know, okay? I'll do whatever I can."

You nodded, Sayori's statement helping to calm your nerves. "Thanks, Sayori."

"Don't worry about it, Y/N." Without any further ado, she tugged the door open, revealing the room within.

You didn't take in all the details of the space right away. It was a good size, considering that it was an actual classroom, and it looked like there was a supply closet in the back. But that wasn't what caught your attention— instead, it was the other members. Specifically one with bright pink hair.

You were almost positive that there was only one person in the school with hair like that.

Suddenly, the club was a bit less welcoming and a lot more terrifying.

You just kind of hid behind Sayori as she wandered into the classroom, hoping that the girl you'd run into earlier that day wouldn't recognize you. Sayori must have just thought you were nervous or anxious, though, because she whispered, "You'll be fine, Y/N, don't worry."

By the time you even thought of a response, she had already put a hand on your shoulder and started shouting to the club. "Hey, everyone!! Guess who got another new member!!"

"Uh— well— it's not set in stone," you spluttered, your eyes darting around the room and landing on anything but the girl from that morning. "But, uh, hi. I'm Y/N, one of Sayori's friends."

Pretty much everyone responded at once.

"...Hello."

"THIS IS THE SECOND TIME, SAYORI!!! DIDN'T I ASK YOU TO TELL US FIRST??!?!"

"Hey, Y/N!! Welcome to the Literature Club!!"

MC was sitting at a desk near the window, and he grinned at you and waved. "Heya!! Did Sayori drag you here too?"

Sayori made a face at him while you just laughed. "I came willingly, don't worry."

"Well, thank you for even giving the club a chance!!" You were a little surprised to see Monika of all people here, but her welcoming smile made your confusion vanish quickly. At the very least, there was someone else you (kind of) knew. "I appreciate you coming, and I'm sure all the others do too."

The girl with raven hair made a hum of acknowledgement and nodded politely at you, while the pink haired one from earlier leaned back in her seat and grumbled, "C'mon, Sayori. First that one, a boy of all people, and now this?"

"Hey, I have a name," MC pouted while Sayori laughed somewhat guiltily.

"I thought we wanted more members, Natsuki!!" She awkwardly scratched the back of her neck. "Y'know, to keep the club."

"And that's why he joined!!" Who you assumed was this 'Natsuki' pointed at MC rather aggressively. "We have enough people to be considered an official club. Weren't we trying to keep this small?"

You had no clue if Natsuki remembered you, or what had happened, but you were totally stunned by how, er, direct she was being about her feelings when you were basically three desks away from her.

"Calm down," Monika interjected, holding up her hands. "Natsuki, please don't worry too much. We're still the smallest club in the school by a long shot, even if Y/N decides to officially join. And Sayori, please keep her request in mind if you find another potential member, okay?"

"Alright, I'll try," Sayori sighed while Natsuki just huffed and crossed her arms.

Sayori showed you around the club, introducing you to all the members. You already knew MC, and had a few classes with Monika, so she started with the raven haired girl, Yuri. You discussed your favorite novels for a few minutes before she led you over to Natsuki.

You hovered behind her while Sayori introduced you. Natsuki just kind of squinted at you.

"You wouldn't happen to be that weirdo who ran into me this morning, right?"

You froze in place, which immediately caused her to laugh in triumph. "Hah!! I knew it!!!"

"I— well— that—" you stammered, stepping out from behind Sayori to try to defend yourself. "That was an accident, okay?! Someone pushed me, and I'm sorry I ran into you!!"

Natsuki just glared at you while Sayori just stood there, confused.

"Well, uh—" You hesitated, trying to come up with a reason to not stick around. "I— I have a few questions for Monika. Th- thanks for introducing me to everyone, Sayori."

With that, you wheeled around and hurried towards the club president, feeling Natsuki's eyes burning into your back.

Yuri

You didn't know why you were surprised that Yuri was a part of the literature club. Sayori had said that the club was really small, and you weren't sure if Yuri knew about it, though you were well aware of her affinity for reading. But as soon as the vice president led you into the classroom, you immediately recognized the dark hair and mesmerizing eyes of the girl sitting in the corner.

"Hey, everyone!!" Sayori declared, putting an arm around your shoulder. "I've found us another member!!"

A girl you recognized as Monika smiled brightly and immediately came over to shake your hand. "Welcome to the Literature Club!! I'm Monika, but you probably already know that, ehehe!!"

"Oh my god, you really did this again, Sayori?" a pink haired girl grumbled, though she didn't look as pissed off as her words suggested.

Yuri glanced up from her book, and her eyes widened ever so slightly when she took in your features. A small smile traced her lips and she waved shyly at you. You grinned and waved back.

After a quick conversation with the presidents, Sayori managed to charm you into 100% trying the club for a week, much to Monika's delight. You laughed off the moderate terror that came from this new development, and after the two described more of what the club was about, they let you wander around and get used to the environment, maybe start to read or write something.

Considering that Yuri was probably the person you were most familiar with, you made your way in her general direction. You knew that she liked to be alone while she was reading, but... you didn't know, you wanted to just check up on her.

"Hey, Yuri," you exclaimed, pulling out a chair to sit next to her. "I didn't know you were a part of the club, haha!!"

"Oh, hello there, Y/N," Yuri said quietly, looking up from her book again. "It's good to see you. And I joined quite recently, so..."

"It seems like it's a lot of fun, though." You smiled, genuinely excited for your time at the club. "Did Sayori recruit you too?"

Yuri shook her head, which somehow was a very elegant action despite the casuality of the gesture. "No, I... I actually found a flyer for the club and decided to check it out. It seemed peaceful."

"Oh, that's nice!" You hadn't noticed any flyers advertising the club, but maybe you were just blind. "Well, I'm glad we can spend more time together now— you seem like a really cool person, Yuri. Maybe now we can discuss our books here instead of lunch..?"

Yuri smiled at you once again, her eyes softening. "That sounds lovely, Y/N."
