Just a short fluffy thing I wrote at midnight lol

It was always a great day when Natsuki brought cupcakes to the club. It became less great when there was an uneven number of treats.
Every time it happened, it was unintentional; normally, Natsuki would be in too much of a hurry to get to school, and she'd accidentally pack the wrong amount. No one would ever complain, though, because it was one extra heavenly cupcake for one lucky winner.
Normally, you'd stand back and let the other members fight over the extra one (mostly MC and Sayori). After all, you were just grateful that you'd even gotten one in the first place, aka you were too scared to enter the battlegrounds to fight for the final cupcake. You joined the literature club for... well, I don't know, but you didn't join it for a fight club
But one particular day, it was just... a normal day, and the club had been blessed once again with Natsuki's baking skills. Everyone had grabbed a cupcake and gone back to their respective seats, either chatting with each other, writing or reading, and you happened to be doing the latter. Lately, your focus was on writing allegorical poems that weren't overly complex, just something that could be taken differently if examined a little closer. That was what you were working on when you happened to glance up and notice that there was one cupcake left.
...
A quick glance around the room confirmed that everyone had gotten one already. So was this some kind of trap? Normally, at least one other member would have noticed by now. It was oddly peaceful considering that there was basically an 8th wonder of the world sitting inconspicuously on a desk just an arm's length away.
You were torn. On one hand, you really wanted that cupcake. Who didn't?? Who wouldn't?? But on the other hand, that was dangerous, incredibly dangerous. You'd be painting a target on your back. Normally, the other members had seen you as neutral, but after this? Well, you'd just be seen as a threat.
But that cupcake....
You knew that it was risky. You knew you'd be taking a chance. But you know what? Screw it, you could take an extra cupcake for ONE TIME. You'd been nice and sat out of all the other stand-offs for the cupcake. You deserved one.
So, as nonchelantly as you could, you slid out of your seat, shuffled over to the desk, casually picked up the cupcake, and made your way back. The second you were back in your chair, it was like a sense of relief washed over you.
That is, until a pair of arms snaked around your shoulders and Sayori's voice purred, "Whatcha got there, Y/N??"
You shrieked and jumped in your seat, your head almost colliding with the girl behind you. "Jesus, Sayori, holy crap!!!!!"
"Ehehe!!! I know, I'm getting sneaky," she exclaimed, keeping her arms threateningly wrapped around you. "But I guess you are too, huh?"
Right. The cupcake. Whoops.
"Oh, this??" you exclaimed nervously, mostly because you were lowkey freaking out about Sayori basically hugging you from behind (despite the fact that it was kind of scary). "Well, um– I think this is actually a misunderstanding, Sayori."
"Really now?" she teased.
"Mm-hmm. See, my cupcake that I got earlier just vanished, uh, and so there was one left, and–"
"What, vanished into your stomach? I can see through your lies, Y/N!!" Sayori cackled and finally released you, but immediately dragged a chair to sit right on the other side of your desk, essentially making it rather strenuous to casually look anywhere but right at her. "But, hey... d'you think you'd be willing to make a deal with your favorite Literature Club member??"
You tried very hard to ignore the puppy dog eyes she was making and instead said, "I don't know, this cupcake looks pretty amazing. It'd be hard to give it up."
"Oh, of course," she sighed dramatically, though the goofy smile on her face gave away that she wasn't taking anything she said seriously. "But, since you're the most sweet, generous, kind, gorgeous incredible person in this club, do you think that, maybe, y'know... maybe you could share a little? With me? Maybe?"
Ohhhhhhhh, she did not have to say all that. Suddenly you were scared to speak out of fear that the extreme embarassment you were drowning in would seep into your voice. Instead, you just shrugged, managing to force out a, "Well, maybe."
"Please, Y/N??" Sayori pouted, her eyes moving between your face and the cupcake between you. "Just a liiiiiittle bit?? Not even half, just, uh– less than a half!!"
"Man, I don't know..." You decided to just go with it, have a little fun. "What's in it for me?"
Sayori didn't even pause for a millisecond before confidently saying, "My undying love and devotion. Deal?"
You had to take a second to stop yourself from stammering before you could respond. "Wh– well, are you saying I didn't already have that? Shame... I don't know if I can share if it was only one-sided before I got the cupcake..."
Now, you didn't expect Sayori to look flustered, but that was the only way you could describe the look that came over her face. She just stared at you for a solid three seconds before giggling and awkwardly tapping her index fingers together. "Well, no, I didn't say that, Y/N!! Uh, it would just– get stronger. Yeah, that's it!!"
"I dunno, that's not super convincing."
"Fine then. I guess I'm just gonna have to intimidate you into sharing with me."
"Wh–"
You hardly registered the murderous gleam in Sayori's eyes before it was too late. Before you could react, she'd already lunged forward, aiming directly for your face...
And booped you on the nose.
"Hehe, got you," she cackled before leaning back in her seat. "Are you terrified yet? Did it work?"
Deciding that your heart was too weak for the ridiculous amount of cuteness this girl embodied, you finally caved. "Yep, I'm terrified!! You can just have it, Sayori. Here."
She gasped as you held out the cupcake, her eyes lighting up. "Really? Wait– you know, you don't have to do th–"
"Take it!! It's fine, I'm totally happy for you to have it," you laughed.
"Aww, man, I had more threats in store," she sulked before immediately brightening up again and happily taking the cupcake. "Thank you so, so much, Y/N. I, uh, didn't mean to actually guilt you into giving me this. If you still wanna, like, split it or something..."
"Don't worry, you didn't guilt me," you reassured her. "Seriously, please have it all. It's my own choice. You were too... uh, intimidating."
"Little ol' me? Intimidating? Never!!" Sayori exclaimed as she tore the wrapper off the cupcake. "I think what you meant to say was cute, right??"
Oh, she was absolutely trying now. Flushing, you tried desperately to come up with a smooth response that wasn't just an honest, unironic "yes".
"Oh my God, you look so embarrassed," she giggled, which did nothing to aid your current embarrassment. "I'm sorry, Y/N, I was just joking around, ehehe!!"
"Well, I mean, you are really cute," you mumbled, mostly to yourself, resorting to fidgeting with your pen as a means of distracting yourself. "Not really a joke."
You were too busy dying internally and taking a sudden interest in the writing tool to notice the heavy blush that came over Sayori's face at your words. Again, frozen, she just stared at you, not sure if she heard you correctly. You'd... sounded pretty clear, though.
"I don't know, though," she eventually said as a bright grin made its way onto her lips. Maybe she wasn't just imagining it for once. Maybe you really did mean it. "Looking back on it, I guess I am, like, really terrifying, huh?"
"Hmm. Yeah." You smiled softly, finally looking back up at her. "You're really, really terrifying, Sayori."
