On the jet, going home. I couldn't stop thinking about Lukes mom. Whats she going to say? Im over my head here. Why am I scared to see my boyfriends mother, WHO i already meet more than 50 times.
"Whats on your mind?" Derek said as he sat down across from me.
"My boyfriends mother is here." I clapped my hands.
"Ooh, the mother in law." He smiles. I chuckled. Derek had this energy that makes you happy bo matter what you're going through.
"Shes a hand full." I sighed. "Shes going to be staying with us for a few days." I rubbed my temples.
"I wish I can help you there. But im no expert on that."
"Thanks for being honest." We both laughed. The jet landed a few hours later. I grabbed my go bag and we all walked to the parking lot.
"Good luck." Hotch said as he got in his car. It was late, one in the morning. Their probably asleep.
"Thanks." I got in mine. I tossed my bag in the back and banged my head on the steering wheel. You got this Hazel. Just for a few days. I turned on my car and headed out. I opened the windows, blasting music to keep me awake. I stopped at a drive thru and ordered a coffee. The nice cold breeze felt nice, no traffic, lights on every street. I pulled up to my neighborhood, and parking into my drive way. "You got this." I huffed, turning off the car, getting my bag from the back. I grabbed my keys and opened the door.
"Mi vida!" Luke smiles, making his way to me from the kitchen. They waited for me. He gives me a kiss and hugs me. "She knows." He whispers to my ear. What a great start. "She saw the crib."
"Hazel." His mom stood.
"Marissa, how are you?" I asked as I placed my bag on the ground.
"Im good." There was an awkward silence.
"Okay, amor, how about you get comfortable, and we can eat some snacks." He rubs my back.
"Sure, i wont be that long, you can start." I placed a kiss on his cheek. Luke started to get coffee going, making some snacks. I put away my keys and badge, going to the frame i had, opening it. Marissa looked at me as I put in the pin and put away my gun. She didn't like guns. Specially in the house. I closed the frame and headed upstairs, took a quick shower, got into some pjs and went back downstairs. Luke and his mom already started. "How was your day? How was the ride here?" I looked at Marissa as I took the sip of my coffee that i bought and started on my new one.
"Long. Too many delays." She stops. Again, silent.
"How was yours amor?" Luke looked at me.
"New Orleans was good. We caught the unsub." I nodded. Marissa wasn't interested. She didn't like when Luke or I talked about our work, it was too disturbing. "How about you?"
"Thats good to hear. I did the normal stuff." We all took a long sip.
"Im going to bed, good night." Marissa gets up, and heads to the steps. Can this get anymore awkward. As we heard the door shut, i got up and washed the dishes.
"She looks happy to see me." I said. Luke chuckles.
"You know how she is." He puts away the mugs into the cabinets. "Shes just probably tired." I hope so. "Come on, lets go to bed. You had a rough day." He grabs my hand and went upstairs. Soon as i laid on the bed, i was gone. Luke laughs, pulling the blankets on me and kissing me good night.

Luke and I jumped from the loud Marc Anthony music coming from downstairs. My heart was beating so fast. The music blasted through the whole house, made it shook.
"Mama!" Luke yells as he got out of bed. I looked at the clock. Five in the morning. I fell back and groaned into my pillow. I got out of bed and put on my slippers, heading downstairs.
"Mira! Esta awake!" She points at me. Luke gave up. I went into the kitchen and helped Marissa out. She helped me put on how to cut the right way, cook the eggs the right way. Hazel smiles as Luke twirls her to the music.
"Sit down." Hazel tells Luke. The set up breakfast and ate together. It was okay, a little chatter here and there, but the music still playing.
"Remember when Luke came back, you accidentally hugged the wrong man." Marissa brought up, making them laugh.
"I remember." Hazel laughs, covering her mouth with her hand. Shortly after, Luke washed the dishes, Hazel went to get started laundry and Marissa sitting back, since they both said that they didnt need help. Hazel walks down with the basket of dirty work clothes to the basement. As she puts her blazers and work pants in, Marissa walks in.
"You know, this has to be hand washed. It'll ruin the material if you put it in here." She takes out the blazer.
"I mean, I just put it in here and take it out to hang dry."
"Ay mija." She tsks. "Let me." She shoos her away. She checked every tag on every single clothing item. Haze tried to take over, but Marissa insisted. "See?" She showed her as she demonstrated the way to wash them. Luke left to get a few things for later, leaving the women alone. They both went outside, Hazel was fixing her garden as Marissa towered over her. "Those roses need more water." She points. "So do those tulips." Be patient Hazel. Marissa let her be, as she was satisfied with her work, sitting down on the patio. My phone went off, Derek.
"Hey guapo." I chuckled, still kneeling on the dirt.
"Hey Princess. Just checking on you, how is it?"
"Having a blast. Love it when your mother in law wakes you up at five in the morning, telling you how to do laundry and towering over you about your garden." Derek chuckles. "You guys got a case?"
"Yeah, so far nothing."
"Whats it about?" I squinted at the sun.
"We got an arsonist who targets the homes of upper-middle-class families as they sleep." I hummed.
"If you send me the file-"
"Is that Hazel?" I heard emily. "Give that to me. Hazel!"
"Hola mamtia." I smiled.
"You are on a day off. Dont worry about this. Worry about your flowers." I rolled my eyes. "Dont work."
"Im here if you need me." I shrugged.
"Always Princess. Talk to you later. Keep me in the loop."
"Sure will." I hung up the phone. I looked at Marissa, who was staring back at me, and going inside. I went up to the patio and followed her in. I met her inside the room where the crib was. She looks at it.
"I dont hate you, you know." Marissa stares away from me. I stood behind her. "Im just dont want to let him go." She started to go on. "He's my only son, I want to keep him forever but I know i cant. You'll understand that feeling one day."
"Marissa-" she sticks out her hand.
"Im glad he's with you. You both grew up. I mean, you both are still together when he was in the military." She wipes her tears from her face. "He picked the right one." I had a lump in my throat. I wanted to cry. "You both deserve each other."
"Marissa, without you, Luke wouldn't be as strong as you are. You taught him that. You taught him to be a great man. I understand you dont want to let him go. But he will always be your son, tu baby boy." I placed my hand on her shoulder.
"Youll make a great mother. Luke will be a great father." She holds the stuff animal. "This baby will be proud to have parents like you." I wiped my tear away. "You both deserve an happy ending."
"Thank you." I whispered. Marissa turns around and hugs me. "Im sorry that ive been tough."
"No worries Mija." She cups my cheeks. "I understand. You are mi hija, i will always love you." Those words made me smile. We both looked at the room. "It better be boy because I already bought boy things." We both laughed as we wiped our tears.
"I hope so too." Marissa place the stuffed animal down.
"I hope Luke is painting this wall. You know how he is."
"I will." Luke comes out of nowhere. We all laughed. "I was thinking like a yell-"
"Noo!" I started, shaking my head. "Its going to be blue."
"Im with Hazel." Marissa joins. Luke was defeated.
"Whatever." He wraps his arms around me. "But their will be some stuff like baseball for the theme."
"Ill give you that." The three chatted about the room, Luke finishing the dresser, because Marissa told him to. Chatted about future names. I was happy that I got to spend time with Marissa. I knew why now. Im glad we both talked. Luke was also happy to see them talking, laughing. For real. He was happy to see the two people he loves the most bonding.
