C.VI - White Lies
As we walk down the streets, passing the concert stadium, stores. Talia slows down and catches upto me, I was falling behind the others. She catches up and walks next to me keeping some distance between.
"I have a confusion if you wouldn't mind, I see you're a little.. firm about your identity." She pointed out.
"So you did notice. I was wondering where the real Talia was." I sarcastically said to her.
"Anyways, ask away." I change the topic.
"I was wondering, how'd you do all the fighting with your human appearance?" She asked something I expected. "You are a princess aren't you? It isn't that obvious. Even for me."
"I've trained myself to use as less energy as possible in a battle and that's only possible in human form. Though it does lower your power by quite a bit." I explain a made up excuse. "And the royalty thing, I am Princess of Talasmon. The first Kingdom to be destroyed in the war." I lied about my kingdom.
"Hey, it's okay. Mine was too, until I found the resistance. We're almost the same. Do you think you have any relatives left?"
"I know some none blood related people may be alive. But I'm not sure. Anyways!" I raise my voice jokingly changing the subject.
She giggles and nods understandingly and catches up to the others. I can see Auriana and Mephisto becoming friends and Iris just being awkward. Something I didn't really expect to happen. I didn't think Auriana would like Mephisto, then again she does love everyone in her own way. I feel sort of guilty for not telling them everything, but they'll find out eventually anyways. It's only been 2 days on Earth counting today. Plus I don't think Praxina is gonna attack for a bit after that failure.
Failure.. No, that's harsh. She isn't even herself right now. Wait, she isn't herself! She's way powerful than she was before... That's it!
I thought to myself as we reached the house just in time for the evening. We see Ellira taking care of the garden in the house. The girls were going to there basement to rehearse, then Mephisto voiced "Hey! Aren't you forgetting something?! Where am I supposed to stay!" he questions goofily. I chuckle and head to my room down the hall letting the others figure this out. "I'm not sleeping on the couch!" I heard as I walked in. I sat on my bed and saw Iris come in. "Hey, we didn't really get to talk. This is for you!" She hands me a black device.
"What is this?" I ask curious.
"It's called a phone! It's a human device. You can do everything with it. You can watch videos on YouTube, play games-" she continues explaining as I switch it on and try it out.
"We all have one. Auriana suggested the idea to use them." She gives credit to Auriana.
"Oh, thanks." I say with a slight smile.
She turns to leave but I stop her. "Wait, I need to tell you something. I might have figured something out. Plus, we didn't actually get to know eachother, take the chance." I wink at her.
We both get up onto the bed, comfortable and I explain what I had thought about earlier. I don't go into much detail wanting to know what she thought first. "So, I think there might be something that took control over her." I explain.
She puts her hand to her chin. "That might explain all the stronger powers, and we haven't since Banes anywhere yet. They might be up to something. I need you to stay on guard okay?" She puts her trust onto me.
Me, out of everyone. I had lied to them all this time and she's trusting me. I can't do this.
"Aren't you gonna tell the others?" I ask hopefully. "I don't think that's a good idea. They'll only get more stressed, I'll tell them when everything is a bit.. stress free." She answers. I could see leadership in her, something I could never do. I've only ever done it a few times, like the earlier battle. But in free life, I wouldn't be able to.
I've always been the quiet one, even at the resistance. Izira recognised me as Sciara, and only Sciara. She never thought wrongly about any of my anxiety problems. But she didn't quite understand either. Only her, Carissa and Lyna really knew me. They were some people I've loved to be with. Though Lyna and Carissa were the people who only knew me, not recognise me.
"Sake of Cladsnick!" Iris yells and I snap out and realise I zoned out. "Hah, pardon. I tend to do that alot." I apologise.
"I'm going back, it's about 6 pm. We'll have dinner in around 2 hours. See you!" She leaves me in my off white finished room.
I get up and sit at the table next to my bed. I stare at a cupboard half full of books. I suddenly spot a strange book at the top of the cupboard. I stretch my arm up trying to reach the top. Why In the kingdom of Ephidia is this thing so tall?!
"Can you believe it?!" I heard a voice enter the room but didn't bother to turn around since I already knew who it was.
"They said I have to sleep on the couch! Me! On the couch?!-" He exclaimed loudly as I continued my efforts. I suddenly fill someone right behind me, and Mephisto grabs the book I was reaching for. I turn around to face him and he says, waving the book in hand "A thank you would be nice."
"Really? Thanks." I roll my eyes and take the book out of his hand to read. I sit down on a chair and started reading.
"Books, books, books. Why do people find them so interesting?!" Mephisto exclaims.
"Just admit that you're to lazy to finish one. No need to be a nuisance." I said not shifting my gaze from the book.
"So funny!" He says sarcastically of course and teleports away.
