Ch 20: 'One More Time'
[Sorry for the wait! As some of you know, my Dad passed away recently, so that has hindered some things in life, including writing. But before anyone asks for me to take a break...I don't want to. I want to write to help me in this time, and it does. Besides, if I feel I need to take a break eventually, I will. [Your POV]
When I was a kid...The whole world was at my fingertips. I had dreams...I had a loving family...And I had a life, whilst not the best, it was still mine, and every day I found happiness in it. But when my happiness was taken away, so was something else. A sense of freedom deep inside. One that always seemed there to open a door into another pathway for me. Whether I had a bad day at school, or I had a nightmare, there was always a doorway of freedom opened inside of me that led me to believe that there was something else out there for me if what I wanted at the time didn't go my way. I believed this every day of my life, and it helped me move forward. Even after Izuku's death, I still felt this way.
People like to think that I became this... another version of myself, one colder in nature, that didn't laugh much, joke, or seem to go out of his way to find other people to talk to, when Izuku died. But Izuku's death wasn't the thing that projected me in this direction. Sure, his death affected me, and led me to want to make sure no one else was hurt by any villains, ever again. But it didn't make me the way I am today. That role, fell onto a young boy who decided to make every day of my life a living hell. And that person, was Itijam Kaito. He had everything in life. His family was rich. All the kids liked him. Nothing could go wrong for him. When I first met Kaito, I was jealous of him.
I wanted nothing more than to be friends with him, solely because everyone else was friends with him, and he with them. There was just something about this status quo, that drew me in his direction. I thought, if other people liked him, I'd like him too. But...But for some reason, Kaito didn't like me. I never did anything to him. I never was rude to him. I never yelled, or treated him with disrespect. The only thing I could ever be accused of doing something against him, was the day I finally gathered courage to speak to Akiko. But even then, I did no wrong. The only thing I was guilty of...was wanting a friend. But Kaito didn't see it that way.
Because of his rich nature, where he got everything he wanted, everything other people couldn't, he found it unbelievable when he saw me talking to the girl he liked. Those last words were key. The girl 'he' liked. He. Kaito. He liked Akiko. So if he liked Akiko, then that meant no one else could. But me, I never got that memo. And who knows...If I had properly knew that, that day, I may have never talked to Akiko that day. I may have saved myself from years of frustration and anger that set onto me by Itijam Kaito. A boy I once saw as the greatest person ever. But Kaito, he saw me as nothing but a worthless piece of air in a body that was trying to take something from him.
So when he saw that, he decided, then and there, that his job going forward was to properly insert the idea into my mind...That I was nothing. And so he did that. For every single day. First, it started off by making me appear like a fool in the eyes of everyone. But, of course, that wasn't enough for Kaito. The image of Akiko smiling at me haunted his mind. So, he decided to go further...Just one more time. When making me look like a fool wasn't enough for him, he decided to make me appear like a freak in front of everyone. And that came about the same day I spoke with Akiko. My Quirk manifested once more when he started saying so many horrible things to me.
It all became took much for me to handle, so, with my Quirk, I put those horrible things to rest. Yet, of course, I wasn't seen as the hero in everyone's eyes. I was seen as a freak, for having such a nasty quirk that no hero could ever have. Yet, even being seen as a freak by all, it wasn't enough for Kaito. So, he decided to go further...Just one more time. Because when making me appear like a fool, or a freak wasn't enough, he decided to go one step further, and that was having me look like a monster. That's when the news of my brother's death began spreading around the school. Sure, it was known beforehand.
But back then, people would just look at me with sympathy and confusion. But not Kaito...Not him. He decided that it wasn't good for people to take pity on me. So, he began spreading word that I was the reason my brother died. That I was the cause that Izuku was no longer living. And, in a way, he was right. I was the cause. But that didn't matter. Not to me. What mattered was seeing the looks of disgust and horror on the faces of everyone around me. If left me to ask myself; why was everyone afraid? What's going on with me? Why did I have to be the one left out? People say they have the greatest fear.
Whether it be fearing the dark, or snakes and monsters under the bed, of not being able to see the ones you love. But for me, my greatest fear, was loneliness. I hated the thought of being alone. I hated the idea of having no one around me. Yet, in some sick, twisted, way, I felt like loneliness was the only thing I deserved after Izuku's death. Such a thought alone in enough to put me into this depressed state. One where I can't move, or breath. I'm just left...alone...with my thoughts...and the idea that maybe Kaito was right...Maybe I was a monster. That's what I thought...Every single day of my life. Over and over again. One more time...
...But not anymore.
[3rd Person POV]
The sound of the crowd of over twenty thousand people roared with pure, and utmost, enthusiasm. To put it simply...They were going crazy. And it was only boosted by the two types of entrances that had just taken place. Whilst Kaito's was full of energy, pushing forth his favour with the crowd of citizens around him. Meanwhile, (Y/n) took a more personal route. His was dark, and without favour. Yet, inside, he was as free as he had ever been in a long time. He was finally being shown a door of freedom for the first time since he was a kid. And through this door, he was given a new sense of selfishness.
And his first step into this selfish territory was to completely crush Kaito, not just so everyone watching could see his flaws. Not just so his Father, and Akiko, could see his flaws. And not just for everyone at home to see his flaws. But for every hero...Every villain...Every sidekick...And every piece of living shit watching from wherever they crawled out from, to see his flaws, and how he'll never be anything compared to (Y/n). Such a thought excited (Y/n) that he couldn't help but smile underneath his mask, and in one way or another, Present Mic and Aizawa shared such a feeling, as did everyone else in the surrounding area.
But none broadcasted it like the voice hero himself. A wave of complete anticipation filled his voice as the slicked-haired male hero spoke through the speaker before him.
Present Mic: "And here we have it people, the first match-up of the final round...(Y/n) Midoriya vs. Itijam Kaito, and honestly, if I'm giving my truthful thoughts, after the entrance we just witnessed by young Midoriya, I feel a lot of opinions from the crowd might just have changed...I know mine sure did!!!"
Such a remark was instantly picked up by Aizawa, who just glanced at his friend seated next to him and smiled slightly. But not for long. His gaze was quick to switch back to the battlefield in front of him, where Kaito could be seen staring in complete shock at the figure of (Y/n) before him. The monstrous sight of the student from U.A., decked in his hero costume, was unsettling to Kaito, even though he had seen it several times before.
But right now, something was different, and whatever it was, it caused his body to freeze in place. Kaito screamed inside for his body to work, but it just wouldn't listen. The wave of chills that ran up his spine, a possible effect of (Y/n)'s Quirk, kept him still. All the while, not far away, Midnight experienced the same situation. Her body was unable to move as she stared directly at (Y/n) in front of her. Her mind filled with so many thoughts, she could barely concentrate.
"...I didn't realize students were allowed to wear uniforms during battle."
Midnight: "Huh?!"
Immediately, she was brought back to reality by the voice of Cementoss. The older woman quickly turning to see the male hero standing beside her, looking at (Y/n). Though the more he did, Cementoss couldn't help but swallow abruptly.
Cementoss: "E-Even though I saw his costume momentarily during USJ, it...it truly is something to see in person." [Turns to Midnight] "Isn't it?"
Midnight: "O-Oh." [Smiles] "Yes. It certainly i--"
Her words were immediately cut off when she turned back to glance at (Y/n), a smile on her face. Though that smile instantly dropped when Midnight noticed how well (Y/n)'s suit brought out his body. The stretched fabric along his arms, due to his muscles. The way his chest was firmly pressed up against the fabric. And the overall 'bad boy' vibes drove the mind of the overly infatuated Midnight to new levels. So much so all she could do was stand up straight and smile.
Midnight: "The costume stays!"
Cementoss: "Oh...Okay."
With Cementoss returning to his seat near, and Midnight's mind free of any thoughts to ignore (Y/n), the pair allowed a few more seconds to pass before starting the fight. Allowing (Y/n) and Kaito a few seconds to continue their stare-off. Though, (Y/n) seemed to be the only one with any means of being able to speak.
(Y/n): "...You look scared, Kaito."
Kaito: "H-Huh?"
Suddenly, he was awoken from his daydreaming state. Though, Kaito wasn't even sure if (Y/n) was the one speaking to him, seeing as the male in the costume was just standing in front of him...staring at him.
(Y/n): "I said, you look scared. You look frightened. Like you just saw a ghost or perhaps...A monster?"
Kaito: "As if I'd be scared of you, Deku! You're nothing!"
(Y/n): "Is that what you really think? Than..." [Breaths in] "...Why do I taste fear in the air?"
Kaito: "Wha-What would I care what you taste? And what's with all the talking? Ha! Are you so scared and nervous that all you can do is talk? Well, it's not going to save you De--"
(Y/n): "I'm not scared. Or nervous. In fact, I've never felt better. That's why I'm talking. Because I'm happy. I'm excited. Because today's the day...I finally move on from you."
Despite the words not coming in as a threat, or anything like that, Kaito still found himself confused at what he just heard. To the point he didn't know what to say or do. He wasn't helped by the fact that (Y/n)'s green eyes were still focused on him.
Kaito: "...Y-Yeah, well. Who cares what you think?! Because no matter how hard you try, Deku. I know you're nothing. And so does everyone watching."
(Y/n): [Grins] "Do they Kaito? Do they really...?"
"Challengers, get into position!"
Kaito: "H-Huh?"
The voice of Midnight threw things in balance, Kaito's gaze pulled away from (Y/n) for just a moment. In that time, (Y/n) got into a battle stance, crouched forward, placed a hand on his knee, and activated his 'Fear Second' power-up. Now, an aura of green mist rises from his body, as his eyes glow an intense green. Such a thing is left as the final bit of action from the male before everyone is drawn toward the voice of Midnight, who stands on the podium on the direct centre, to the side of the cement battlefield.
Midnight: "Alright! This is it!" [Looks at Kaito] "The moment you've all been waiting for..." [Looks at you] "You want to become heroes. Now's your chance. Show them what you're made of..." [Turns to the crowd and grins] "All that's left for you to do now..."
"...IS FIGHT!!!"
The final two words came so quickly, so much so that no one was properly prepared for it to take place. Even so, when the crowd finally registered it, their went ballistic with cheers that thundered the world around them. Cheers from all over the arena, whether it be from citizens, heroes, students, or anyone else watching, they felt the pure impact of the moment at hand. Yet, to their surprise, when Midnight finally gave the clear for the fight to begin, no one move. Kaito was so certain that (Y/n) would move first, that all he could think about was staying still and preparing for an attack. But (Y/n) didn't move, he just remained in his crouched position, his eyes focused on the ground, as if deep in thought. This lasted for a few seconds, to the point people in the crowd started contemplating what was going on. Some were concerned...
"Why isn't he moving?"
"Is everything alright?"
"I hope he's okay."
While others were filled with spite.
"Ha! Look at him! He's not scary!"
"Yeah! Tried to show off at the start, and now he can't move!"
"What's the matter? That entrance take it all out for ya?!"
Meanwhile, in the student grandstand, the members of Class 1-A watched in concern.
Kirishima: "What's the matter with (Y/n)?"
Sero: "Why isn't he moving?"
Ashido: "Is everything alright with him?"
Tsuyu: "He's probably thinking about me."
Hagakure: "Get up, (Y/n)!"
Kaminari: "Yeah! Get up!"
As this went on, Bakugo watched all go down in silence. Whilst elsewhere Itijam Kato, Kaito's father, smirked and chuckled. While Akiko looked on in concern. Then, in the teacher's area, All Might was left to scratch his chin in curiosity as the heroes around began to doubt (Y/n). But All Might never did, he knew (Y/n) was doing exactly what he wanted.
But what that thing was, was still up in the air. To the point, even Kaito himself didn't know what was going on. That seemed to be what everyone felt like. But seeing as the crowd didn't exactly want to just sit there, they began cheering, in hopes something would be done. Though, of course, they were cheering for just one person.
"Kaito!"
"Kaito!"
"Kaito!"
Kaito: "Huh?"
As soon as he noticed his name, Kaito looked to the crowd. Their cheers only growing louder as (Y/n)'s face remained on the ground before him.
"Kaito!"
"Kaito!"
"Kaito!"
"Kaito!
As soon as the cheers started to pour in, something happened inside of Kaito. His spirit began to be filled with the same energy it had as a kid. A confident well sprunge to life inside of him. Such a thing soon brought a smile to his face, as everything but the sound of Kaito's name, that fell from the lips of the crowd in front of him, flooded the air. To the point, Kaito couldn't help but close his eyes for just a moment to take it all in.
"Kaito!"
"Kaito!"
"Kaito!"
"Kaito!"
Before long, however, Kaito's smile switched to a grin, as this confidence inside brought out an arrogance, just like when he was a kid. With his name being chanted, Kaito felt unstoppable. To the point, any fear he had previously was now gone. Now, he was flooded with arrogance, and overconfidence, as he fed off the praises around him. Eventually, (Y/n) had so much courage, that he proceeded to turn back to (Y/n). This time, with his smirk, he watched as (Y/n) faced the ground, as Midnight began to grow concerned.
Midnight: "(Y/n)? Is everything okay? Do you need me to--"
"He's fine! Let him face the ground!"
Midnight: "Huh?"
Quickly turning to the opposite end of the field, where Kaito stood, with his grin on full display, as he looked down at (Y/n) before him.
Kaito: [Grins] "After all...Soon enough, he'll be lying on it."
Midnight: "Kaito. No. Stay back. The match is paused until we--"
Kaito: "NO!"
He suddenly barked at Midnight, causing her to freeze, and even caused the crowd to stop their cheering.
Kaito: "I've had enough of staying back! For too long I've let this runt walk around! And now, finally, I get my chance to humiliate him in front of everyone..." [Turns to you, grins] "So, Deku, is there anything you want to say to me now before I kick your face into the dirt where it belongs?"
His grin grew wider with each passing second, yet (Y/n) didn't speak. This just raised Kaito's arrogance one more time.
Kaito: "Haha! Haha! What's that? I can't hear you? Speak up, will ya?!"
The deranged look in Kaito's eyes, stretching them to its limits. But (Y/n) kept facing the ground.
Kaito: "Haha! Maybe, you've finally realized it. That after everything you've already done. You realized no one wanted you here. Not me. Not any of the teachers. Not those people who you think are your friends...And definitely not this crowd."
"Get 'em, Kaito!"
"Do something, Kaito!"
"Hurry up and get this over with, Kaito!"
"Kaito!"
"Kaito!"
"Kaito!"
More and more called his name, and with each person who spoke, the more Kaito's spirit was flooded with arrogant thoughts inside. Little did Kaito, and everyone else watching, knew...This was exactly what (Y/n) wanted. You see, just a few seconds ago, Kaito was flooded with fear and doubt, despite how much he denied it. And even with such a sight being a pleasure to see, it wasn't what (Y/n) wanted. (Y/n) wanted Kaito to be filled with confidence, or more precisely, arrogance.
He wanted the boy who caused his childhood to be complete trash to feel at the top of his game. To feel like he could do no wrong. To accept in the cheers of the crowd and everyone watching. He wanted Kaito to feel like he was the absolute best, that no one could touch him. To reach that high point in life where he feels he can peak no more...Only for (Y/n) to tear it all down. That's why (Y/n) didn't move. Not because he was afraid, or regretting everything. He wanted this moment to be perfect.
So he can show everyone! Whether that be Kaito! His father! Akiko! Even the crowd around him! He wanted to show everyone...That this time...This one more time when (Y/n) would be forced to face his fears...He'd show them all. Everyone. That at the end of the day, Itijam Kaito was no rival. In fact, he wasn't even worth the thought of it. So (Y/n) remained crouched, allowing more arrogance to swallow up Kaito. The grin on his childhood bully's face continued to grow as he approached the silent figure before him.
Kaito: "You hear that, Deku? Everyone loves me! Finally, people realize just how pathetic and a waste you are! Though, I guess you're not really shocked, huh? You've always felt like second fiddle to me, haven't you?"
(Y/n)'s eyes remained to the ground. No movement came as Kaito stepped closer.
Kaito: "Even when you felt at the top of your game. Surrounded by pathetic students and teachers who saw you as the be-all, end-all, for superhero kind. It eventually led you to this moment...Where it all faded away." [Wickedly grins] "And I'm loving every second of it."
Midnight: "Kaito! That is enough! This is about showcasing your powers, not your vile mouth."
Kaito: [Turns to her] "What am I doing wrong? Huh? I'm doing nothing wrong!"
Midnight: "You are taking unnecessary actions to aggravate your opponent. That is not needed."
Kaito: "Please! That's a bunch of bullshit! But why am I not surprised...A woman like you going for filth like Deku. Disgusting in its own right."
Immediately Midnight's eyes widened in shock. However, before she could say anything, Kaito had always switched his gaze back to (Y/n). By this point, his grin had doubled in nature. Clearly, Kaito was feeding off the overconfidence and invincibility he currently felt. Such led him to push (Y/n) further.
Kaito: "You hear that, Deku?! Huh?! I just insulted someone you care about! Are you going to fucking do anything about it?! BE A MAN! BE A HERO!" [Cackles Loudly] "Or just admit it already! That you're too afraid to fight me now that everyone's turned against you!"
But (Y/n) still didn't move. Even though he was tempted beyond anything else. He wanted Kaito to reach his absolute limit of filling his head with so much shit that when (Y/n) finally did beat him, it'd bring the mongrel piece of filth back down to Earth so hard he wouldn't dare step through the gates of U.A. every again. If (Y/n) wanted to be done with him for good...He'd have to wait, just one more time. It was due to this patience, however, that led Kaito to go elsewhere with his remarks.
Kaito: "Pfft! What am I saying? You don't care about Midnight. Or any of the teachers. Not really." [Places hands on hips] "Maybe I should say something about your friends instead? The shitlickers who eat the crap that come from your mouth every day. Like Kirishima or that bitch Yaoyorozu--"
Immediately, (Y/n)'s eyes snapped open.
Kaito: "Or if that's not good enough. That fuckwit Bakugo would be a good choice. I always found it fucking pathetic how a guy like him stooped so low to hang out with a freak like you. Then again, the only thing he's good for is running his mouth."
The fist planted on the ground by (Y/n)'s gloved hand clenched tighter as he pressed it further into the ground. Kaito seemed to notice such, causing his grin to spring to life before getting down on a knee a meter from (Y/n)'s current crouched position.
Kaito: [Grins] "...Or maybe I should say something about that Ochaco you hang out with so much. You know...I think she likes you." [Scoffs] "Beats me to know why she'd spend so much time on a waste like you. Though, she isn't much different herself."
The words of Kaito rang through (Y/n)'s head, over and over again. Yet, he kept his cool. Keeping himself in check. Repeating the same words to himself...One more time.
Kaito: "I mean, at first, I just presumed she was feeling sorry for your pathetic life. You know, like you do with a miserable puppy? But no...Haha...She genuinely seems to like you!"
With his smile widening, the image of Kaito's face appeared on the various screens all around the arena, leaving the crowd of citizens to turn to each other in confusion. Unsure of what was going on, or what was being said. The confused faces of the Class 1-A students, including Uraraka and Bakugo could be seen. Meanwhile, Midnight watched down on the arena in silence, struck by the confusion that was questioning why (Y/n) wasn't doing anything. Only brought back to reality when Cementoss suddenly spoke out.
Cementoss: "I have a bad feeling about this all. I'm going to stop--"
Midnight: "No, wait..."
The male hero was silenced suddenly by the hand of Midnight, which reached out to block his path, leading Cementoss to turn to her. Only to see Midnight's gaze focused on (Y/n).
Cementoss: "Midnight, what are you doing?"
Midnight: "Just leave it for a moment more...Please."
Cementoss: "But Kaito is going too far with his remarks. And (Y/n) isn't moving, so--"
Midnight: "That's exactly why we can't do anything. (Y/n) isn't moving for a reason. Trust me, if he wants to. He can easily enter this fight. He's doing all this for a purpose."
Cementoss: "Purpose? What kind of purpose could he possibly have to let such verbal abuse to himself and everyone else continue?"
Midnight: "I don't know...But we must trust that he's letting this happen for a reason."
Despite what some may have thought, it wasn't easy to see (Y/n) be spoken to like this. Despite Midnight simply enjoying flirting with the young boy, and having to admit their game of cat and mouse was rather fun, Midnight did genuinely care for (Y/n). After all, she had heard of the trouble he has gone through with certain situations since joining U.A.. Add in the fact that she knows something went on with Monoma during the Cavalry battle, she was even more on the lookout for young (Y/n). Yet, there was just something about the scene before her that gave her a hope that (Y/n) was letting this happen for some reason.
So, Midnight remained silent as Kaito continued to bark words that only the people on the arena floor could hear. All the while, (Y/n) held his temper back, repeating the words 'One more time' over and over again. Continuing to fuel Kaito's arrogant nature more and more. But the thing about such, there was eventually an end to it all. And that end was just around the corner with a final remark from the bully that had caused so much turmoil in (Y/n)'s life. Finally, the moment everyone in (Y/n)'s life was waiting for. And end to this pathetic rivalry with Kaito. But, of course, in Kaito fashion, he decided to end it in the most futile way possible.
Kaito: "At first, I decided to just ignore it all. After all, what was the point in wasting my time with a piece of shit like her that even thinks someone like you is considered worthy to live, let alone date someone. But then...I began looking at her~" [Chuckles] "For such a well-behaved, boring girl, Ochaco has a rather nice body, doesn't she?"
Those final words were all it took for (Y/n)'s head to suddenly snap up, his green eyes staring straight into Kaito's very own. When Kaito first saw it, a moment of hesitancy arrived in his mind. But he didn't let it fade him much further as he got to his feet and laughed.
Kaito: "Oh~ Haha! Finally got some movement out of you, huh?" [Stands up and grins] "What's the matter, Deku? Don't like it when I talk about Ochaco in such a way? Is it the mention of the fact that her body is rather nice...and ready to corrupt? Or maybe it's the thought of her innocence being taken from her by someone like me? Doesn't that get you angry? Huh? Does it? Or...I know!" [Cackles] "Does it make you angry because I've already stolen one girl you've had a crush on before?"
It was at this moment that any plan to drive Kaito to his peak, only to bring him crumbling down, had left (Y/n)'s head. Along with it, any moral sense available was withdrawn as (Y/n)'s slender figure slowly rose to his feet. The dark abyss that surrounded his green eyes all Kaito could see as his cocky nature led him to laugh in the face of the devil itself. Clearly, Kaito had reached his peak of arrogance.
Kaito: "If I'm being honest, Deku. Thinking more and more of the idea of corrupting such an innocent person like Ochaco is getting even more sweeter. And, don't worry, I'm not talking about that type of corrupting anymore..." [Grins and cackles] "Well, maybe not entirely~ Instead, I'm talking about the type of corrupting that I'll do to her, just like I did to Akiko. I'll make Ochaco hate you-no. I'll make her despise you. Every last bit so you'll come to realize thAT AT THE END OF THE DAY...YOU! (Y/N) MIDORIYA! ARE NO RIVA--"
Kaito's words were suddenly silenced, however, when out of nowhere (Y/n)'s right hand reached out through the air to grab the cocky boy by the throat. But (Y/n) didn't stop there. Slowly he began to lift Kaito's body off the ground and into the air. His body was left hovering off the ground, as everyone in the arena witnessed it with shock. All the while Kaito continued to grin through groans and crackles as he grabbed at (Y/n)'s hand around his neck. The young boy's glowing green eyes showcasing the anger that was held inside.
Kaito: "D-Do it...Deku...You son of a bitch...Show everyone...S-Show them all...Your friends...Your teachers...Your Mother...Your pathetic little brother...Everyone in this fucking building! Show them all...That you're really just a--"
SLAM!
Once more Kaito was silenced, this time, by his body suddenly being freed from his prison in the sky. However, before he could even touch the ground his ribcage was suddenly crushed underneath the heavy fabric of (Y/n)'s boot, that trusted Kaito through the air backward. His body eventually tumbling backward to roll along the dirt-covered ground beneath him. The sound of Kaito's body colliding with the ground repeatedly self a wave of silence through the arena momentarily. It left the citizens watching to question after the odd start of the match, if this was truly where the fight began. Even Present Mic in the commentating booth was left confused.
Present Mic: "...Well, folks. Um...After an odd start to this match-up...Definitely one we've never seen before. It finally appears lik--OH MY GOSH! Young Kaito, look out! He's coming right for you!"
Barely to his feet on the field, Kaito wasn't even able to muster a word before his gaze was suddenly turned elsewhere from the commentary booth when he was forced to look straight ahead of him. Upon doing so, he was greeted by the sudden image of a monstrous (Y/n) charging toward him. Using his clawed fingertips to dig into the ground to boost his momentum, the green eyes of (Y/n)'s mask made the young boy appear like a blur. A monster of the night. All Kaito was able to process was those very green eyes before out of nowhere (Y/n)'s gloved fist was within inches of his face. Kaito unable to make a single noise before contact was made.
BLAM!
The strike was quick and dealt with immediate force. A chunk of loose saliva launched from his mouth as (Y/n)'s fist turned Kaito's face in the opposite direction. What was even more stunning was the amount of power held behind the attack, enough that Kaito was sent flying into the air, heading straight for the edge of the battlefield. Travelling through mid-air, Kaito was left disorientated. Desperately he tried to concentrate on where he was being sent.
Was he heading out of the field, or would he be safe? He wasn't able to find that answer at all before (Y/n)'s striking form suddenly appeared in the air, as if appearing out of nowhere. It was due to the boosted energy of his 'Second Fear' formation that (Y/n) moved at a speed so quick the human eye could barely keep up with it. All people could see to tell where (Y/n) was, was the hovering green aura that formed off his body like fog in the night.
Even so, the people were barely able to take this sight in before out of nowhere Kaito was punched once more by the masked hero, sending the childhood bully flying in the opposite direction, away from the edge of the arena, before crashing dead centre in the middle of the battlefield. Such a bizarre entry to the action was something the people watch were not prepared for, but now that they had finally seen something worth their attention, they couldn't help but explode in a wave of cheers.
"YYYYYAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!"
Meanwhile, in the commentary booth, Present Mic and Aizawa were left unsure of what to say. But when they realized their purpose being there was to commentate over a fight, and the fight having already began, they might as well get to what they were sent there to do. And boy, did they begin to do it.
Present Mic: "Alright people, I'm Present Mic, and I'm here to give you the quick rundown on the action displayed before you! And boy, does it look incredible!"
Back in the battlefield, Kaito's body strikes the ground powerfully after being sent flying toward it thanks to (Y/n)'s unbelievable strength. However, he wasn't even given a moment's rest. His body catapulting off the ground from the impact. It was as his body was lifted by the sheer force that (Y/n)'s body appeared out of nowhere once more, wasting not a single second to begin delivering a plethora of punches all over Kaito's body. All the while (Y/n)'s staggering form was left to hobble backwards. What was even more shocking, this little movement he made after every punch delivered by (Y/n), wasn't made by Kaito.
Instead, (Y/n) was so close that his punches travelled barely anywhere. The impact of (Y/n)'s attacks barely pushed into the body of Kaito, yet, the damage dealt was nonetheless. (Y/n) just used so much self-control in his attacks that it appeared a simple knockback effect was given, yet in reality, Kaito was feeling a world of pain that he could barely comprehend. To the crowd, however, the one thing Kaito seemed to resemble right now, was a punching bag. One that slightly moved every little second after being punched by (Y/n)'s blurry attacks from all over the place. They came quicker than Kaito could comprehend, so all he could do was accept them.
Present Mic: "INCREDIBLE! Purely incredible! In the early moments of the fight it appeared as if Kaito had somehow caused his opponent to be left in a state of complete stillness. But now it seems like (Y/n) may have just been waiting for the right moment to strike. Because all we can see right now is pure and utter carnage from the young boy from Class 1-A!!!"
It seemed that even the crowd had to agree with the words of Present Mic. As looks of complete shock and utter excitement spawned across the faces of thousands as they witnessed (Y/n) completely toss Kaito around like a rag-doll. Even so, there still seemed a few who just continued to doubt (Y/n)'s actions and continued to cheer for Kaito.
"Come on, Kaito! Get back into it!"
"You've got this, Kaito! Just find an opening!"
"Don't back down!"
"Fight back!
"Get in there and show him what you're made of!"
A look of dismay rested on the face of Itijam Kaot, Kaito's father, who watched the sight of his son being dragged around with silence. Even as the crowd continued to cheer on. But even with a few backing Kaito still, there were definitely some who had clear switched sides.
"Who am I kidding?! This kid is amazing!"
"Go get him, Midoriya!"
"You're amazing!"
"Keep fighting!"
"What am I seeing?! This is incredible!"
"It's happening so fast!"
...But no cheers were sweeter than the sound coming from the members of Class 1-A.
Ashido: "GO, (Y/N)! YOU'RE DOING GREAT!"
Sero: "Show them what Class 1-A is made of!"
Kirishima: "Squash him like a bud, bro!"
Hagakure: "Keep fighting!"
Jiro: "Don't stop!"
Tokoyami: "Show them all the POWER of the darkness!"
But whereas the cheers came as a variety, there was certain to be someone that rose above the rest. That person, was not Bakugo, surprisingly...
Bakugo: "Punch him! Hit him! Whack him! Crack him! (Y/n)! Crack him! On the left! No! (Y/n), the lef-No, the--Oh, you did! Good job! OH! Kick him in the nuts now! Haha!!!"
...Instead, that responsibility fell to none other than Uraraka, who once more adopted her 'Bakugo-mode'.
Uraraka: "PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE! MAKE HIM REGRET EVER MESSING WITH ANY OF US! I WANT HIM TO SEE BLACK-BLUE FOR THE REST OF THE SCHOOL YEAR! YEAH! YOU TAKE IT, TOO, YA DAMN NERD!!!"
To the side, Yaoyorozu and Bakugo watched in silence at Uraraka's sudden outburst. Meanwhile, on the wall separating the grandstands of 1-A and 1-B, Kaminari and Mineta could be seen carrying grins as they looked down at the class of 1-B, but mainly Monoma.
Kaminari: "Well, well, well. Would you look at that, (Y/n)'s being pretty badass out there, huh, Monoma?"
Mineta: "Ha! Ha! Don't worry. Maybe after the match, maybe we'll let you clean our boots. Ya damn nerd!!!"
Monoma: "WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME YOU FOUR FOOT NOTHING PIECE OF--"
Mineta: "AH! KAMINARI! HE BROUGHT UP MY HEIGHT! HE ATTACKED MY WEAK SPOT! NOT COOL!"
Immediately Mineta cropped off the wall and fell to the ground below on his side of the grandstand, leaving Kaminari confused. All the while the members of 1-B smiled at the frustrated Monoma. But it didn't remain that way for long before their focus was drifted back to the fight, where (Y/n) could still be seen delivering Kaito quite the beating. A final punch across the face all that could be seen as (Y/n) allowed his opponent some time to rest. Kaito's body slamming to the ground with a powerful thud. His body was bruised and beaten.
Through a dirt-covered face, he was left to look up at (Y/n). The monstrous appearance the young boy carried as his form towered over Kaito's defeated body all he could see. But (Y/n) didn't remain that way for long. Instead, he proceeded to crouch down, his arms resting atop his knees, like a child would as if looking down at a group of ants. But Kaito held no such interest compared to ants. Such was revealed on the face of (Y/n) when he flicked his mask back to showcase the unphased expression of the young boy.
(Y/n): "So...You ready to properly fight now, or you happy to go down without even lifting a fist in response?"
Kaito could only glare, his eyes narrowed in disgust toward the boy in front of him as he spat blood out of his mouth onto the ground.
Kaito: "...Go to hell."
(Y/n): "I'm ready to go there when the story is done. But you...I'm not so sure you're prepared for what awaits you at the end of the day. But don't worry, what happens after this is the least of your worries. Right now, I'm the one you've got to be concerned about."
With not a single word leaving his mouth from this point on, (Y/n) proceeded to get to his feet and turn around, continuing to walk some meters away as Kaito struggled to his feet. As (Y/n) walks, his face appears on the screens around the arena. Leaving waves of such and whistles to flood the air. Even a few girls started going crazy.
"Oh my gosh, he's so hot!"
"He's totally my type!"
"I so want his number!"
"Me too!"
"Oh, me too!"
"Boy, what I would give to be with a man like that."
"He's totally throwing that Kaito guy around like he's nothing."
"Talk about a real hero~"
What made this scene even more bittersweet, was the fact that not far away, simply a few seats down, Akiko could be seen sitting in silence. The words of these girls affected her immensely. But nothing worked a number on her more than the image on the screen that showcased (Y/n) pulling his mask back on. Those haunting green eyes immediately began staring Akiko right into her very soul. As she took them in, a flash of the goofy, smiling, weak, (Y/n) from her childhood who could barely hold a fight with anyone, let alone a proper conversation, appeared before her eyes. But as she returned to reality, to see Kaito's hobbling body stumble to his feet. It left her unable to say anything other than the following.
Akiko: "(Y/n)...What happened to you?"
But her mutter of a question went unanswered, as on the battlefield, (Y/n) finally came to a stop some fifteen meters away from Kaito. As he did, he slowly turned around, revealing his haunting green eyes to the hobbling figure of his opponent. But (Y/n) didn't say a word. Instead, he simply lifted his right hand and signalled with his fingers for Kaito to come at him. And with the rage of (Y/n)'s previous comment coursing through his body, Kaito didn't hesitate to send everything he had at the young boy as he charged toward him. With a loud scream Kaito started with a plethora of fireballs, all launching from his fists to take out (Y/n).
But all it took were a few simple steps from side to side for (Y/n) to deal with them. By the time he dodged them all, Kaito had finally reached him. Infusing his entire fist this time with fire, Kaito launched into the air before sending his fist down to strike (Y/n) completely. But, once more, all (Y/n) did was step back to avoid the attack. Instead, Kaito's burning fist dug into the ground, charring it with flames from his body. It only took a few seconds for Kaito to realize his attack missed for him to jump straight back into action. This time, as his fist was still sealed by the ground, he caused activated his Quirk around his left foot.
So with his hand still trapped in the ground, Kaito was able to twist his body in hopes of landing an attack to (Y/n)'s side. But when (Y/n) saw it coming, his body suddenly faded out of existence. At least, that's what it looked like to the crowd watching. In reality, (Y/n)'s speed was just so fast that it appeared that way. But with nothing to take Kaito's attack, the momentum built up by his swinging foot caused his hand to come free from the ground and his body to slip over. But his head quickly rose to offer (Y/n) another vile glare as he jumped to his feet and began charging his opponent with a plethora of fire-infused punches. Of course, (Y/n) simply dodged all attacks with ease.
"Stupid!"
"Fucking!"
"Deku!"
The words stormed from his mouth with each punch.
"Why!"
"Won't!"
"You!"
"Just!"
"Die!"
With a final punch, infused by flames around his fist, Kaito went to strike (Y/n) right in the side of the face. This time around, (Y/n) didn't move, It appeared like Kaito was finally going to land a strike. However, just before it seemed like things were finally turning his way, the flaming fist was caught by (Y/n)'s hand, inches from his face. Such a feat caused Kaito to pause in shock. His shocked gaze then carried over to (Y/n)'s own sealed face. Where even though his face was covered by a mask, Kaito didn't need to see it to get the amount of emotion that came with his next set of words.
(Y/n): "...Because I've already died once before. I'm not doing it again."
The words were cold and without remorse. Immediately the struck the hears of Kaito, Midnight, and Cementoss who were able to hear it nearby. The frozen look in Kaito's eyes spoke words no lips could offer at the moment. It was these very eyes (Y/n) looked deep into as he lifted up his free hand. Clenching his fingers into a fist, and aiming it directly at Kaito. A wave of green aura began to build around the appendage. One that travelled up his air and spread around his body. A transformation of some sort was clearly about to happen. But before that could happen, two words had to be spoken first. Two words Kaito would remember for the rest of his life.
"Fear...THIRD!"
The next thing anyone knew a giant explosion of bright green light erupted from (Y/n)'s body. One that swallowed the sight of everyone watching. But the only person who really needed to fear anything from this action...was Kaito.
******
The sound of children laughing and birds chirping filled the air, enough that the eyes of a previously unconscious Kaito began to slowly flicker open. As they did, a wave of pain rushed through his body.
Kaito: "Argh! M-My head...Wha...Where am--"
His words were abruptly cut off, however, as soon as his eyes did open. Because when they did, he was greeted by quite the revelation. Because with this, he was revealed that he was no longer standing in the middle of U.A.'s arena surrounded by thousands of people. In fact, he was nowhere near U.A. at all! Instead, Kaito found himself seated in a sandpit that surrounded a playground.
His head resting against the metal bar behind him, one that was dug into the ground and attached to the playground to keep it stable. It also kept Kaito's head stable as a wave of shock thundered his face. Because as previously mentioned, he was no longer in U.A.; instead...He found himself in his childhood school. But not just the school in the modern day, but the school, the exact same time and everything, as when he went there as a kid. He was reminded of such due to the familiar faces of teachers and kids who attended it.
None looked older than they were back when he was younger. At first, Kaito couldn't believe such a thing. That was...Until he saw himself. A six-year-old Itijam Kaito, marching around the field area of his school, acting as a king whilst the other children followed him as servants. The sight was something Kaito could barely register. But he was given clearing when a familiar voice called out to him from above.
"Looks exactly like you remember it, huh?"
Looking up immediately Kaito was greeted by the sight of (Y/n), unmasked, though still wearing his hero costume, seated atop the roof of the highest structure on the playground. A blank expression dawned his face as he looked out in the distance as young Kaito played with the other students. All of whom followed the spoiled boy like he was their king. All the while, young (Y/n) sat alone watching the scene in sadness.
(Y/n): "You know, when I was younger, I felt so small at this school. I felt like I didn't matter. That my reason for being here didn't matter like everyone else." [Sighs] "Though, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. The weak always feel out of place in a kingdom..."
His words continued to flow before (Y/n) finally dropped his head to look down at Kaito below, who still sat, dumbfounded, in the sandpit looking up at (Y/n).
(Y/n): "That's what you used to call this place, right?"
He refers to the playground in which the older pair found themselves currently.
(Y/n): "This place was your kingdom, and you were the king."
Kaito: "Whe...Where are we? H-How are we--"
His words didn't finish, though the matter in which he suddenly returned his gaze back to his younger self finished the question for him. Kaito was still left staring when (Y/n) suddenly appeared by his side. Green hair softly blowing in the breeze, his hands in his suit pockets, as he watched as well.
(Y/n): "This is a dream. Or, well, a nightmare, to be precise. One in which I made a reality thanks to a boosted version of my Quirk."
Kaito: "Y-You...You used your Quirk on me?"
As soon as he heard that, Kaito was reminded of the time when he was a kid, when (Y/n) first used his Quirk on Kaito after the situation with Akiko. Then again, years later, in the Hero vs Villain training program in U.A.; when (Y/n) and Uraraka fought Kaito and Iida. It didn't take much for Kaito to remember the fear he felt when (Y/n) used his Quirk on him. But instead of being afraid right now, he was angry.
So angry in fact that he was ready to punch (Y/n) from behind as the young boy walked forward and out of the sandpit, and onto the grass. However, Kaito paused himself upon realizing something. That something remained secret for a short while more before (Y/n) was suddenly forced to turn around when a wave of laughter escaped Kaito's lips.
Kaito: "Ha...Hahaha...Hahahaha!"
A single raised eyebrow was all that came from (Y/n) as he reluctantly turned around. The bored expression on his face showcasing just how little he cared for any of Kaito's antics. Even so, Kaito couldn't stop himself from grinning back at his opponent.
(Y/n): "Do I have to ask why you're grinning and laughing, or are you going to tell me anyway?"
Kaito: [Grins] "You call this a nightmare?"
(Y/n): [Mutters] "And there we go. If there's one thing naturally born assholes do, they sure damn love to hear the sound of their own voice."
Kaito: "Why am I not surprised your pathetic attempt at winning this fight failed miserably!"
(Y/n): "Excuse me?"
Kaito: "You call this a nightmare? Ha! I loved school! It was the best! Just because it was shitty for you, doesn't me the rest of us didn't succeed! So if it's anyone's nightmare, it isn't mine..." [Grins] "It's yours."
Again, (Y/n) rushed with no expression on his face. Instead, he just blankly stared at Kaito momentarily before offering a chuckle of his own.
(Y/n): "Well, you're right in a way, I guess. School was a nightmare for me. But be assured, this is very much your nightmare. Because you're going to experience the worst imaginable fear you held as a kid." [Grins] "You're finally going to understand what it's like..."
Kaito: "Why you little--"
The grin on (Y/n)'s lips seemed enough to spike Kaito's aggression. Without hesitation, he drew his fist back once more and launched it toward (Y/n). However, just when the punch seemed to hit. Kaito found no sign of (Y/n) anywhere. It was like his opponent had disappeared without a single trace. Though, that was when out of nowhere, (Y/n) appeared directly behind him.
(Y/n): "Something you wanna say, Kaito?"
Kaito: "Hu--"
This time, he stopped himself from finishing. Too focused on spinning around to attack (Y/n). But just like before, he disappeared. No sign of him, or anyone else could be seen by Kaito. But just when he was about to drop his guard, a voice spoke out from behind, one that wasn't familiar, but the words certainly were.
"Something you wanna say, Kaito?"
Kaito: "Huh?"
Immediately upon spinning around, Kaito was greeted by the sight of four young kids standing before him. All carried cocky grins on their face as they looked at the boy in front of them. Such a sight caused a wave of confusion to once more explode within the mind of the black haired male.
Kid #1: "Well? Got something you wanna say, Kaito?"
Kaito: "Wha...What are you talking about?"
Kid #1: "What am I--What are you? Dumb?"
Kid #2: "Yeah! He asked you a question!"
Kid #3: "Answer it, loser!"
Kaito: [Thoughts] "Loser? Pfft! Pathetic. What is this supposed to be, Deku? My nightmare?" [Out loud] "Look, kids, why don't you run away back to your mommies before I--"
Kid #4: "Haha! You're such a freak, Kaito!"
Kaito: "Wh-What did you just say?"
Immediately Kaito's grin dropped as the snarky kids continued.
Kid #1: "Yeah, you're always sitting by yourself."
Kid #2: "You're so lame!"
Kid #3: "Why don't you have any friends?"
Kaito: "I...I have friends. Wha--Shut the fuck up, you morons. Before I crush you!"
The rage that grew in his eyes seemed to be more than any person would offer to kids. Yet, the words of the young people seemed to be getting to him.
Kid #1: "Please! You can't hurt anything!"
Kid #2: "Or what are you going to do? Get the teacher?!"
Kid #3: "Oh~ We're so scared of that!"
Kaito: "Listen brats. Get lost before I--"
Kid #1: "Before what? Face it, Deku! You're no rival to any of us!"
It was those very words that affected Kaito the most. A glimmer of green flashed in his eyes before his gaze took a sharp turn. Without hesitation, he suddenly reached out and grabbed the little kid by the crop of the shirt. However, all he could do was glare at the child, who seemed to show no fear, before suddenly Kaito felt a hand land on his shoulder.
"He's right, you know? You are no rival!"
Without a moment to respond, Kaito was suddenly turned around. All he could see was the haunting sight of (Y/n)'s mask before a punch to the face was delivered. The strike was enough that Kaito was sent flying through the air. As he did, any remaining remnants of the children bullying Kaito disappeared as his body struck the ground. When Kaito did strike the sand beneath him, however, he no longer carried the form of his eighteen-year-old self. Instead, he was back to being a six-year-old, with tears running down his eyes rampantly. But at this point, Kaito was positioned in a different part of the playground. Underneath the main structure where no teachers could see him. All the while a plethora of children stood around and laughed at him.
"Loser!"
"Freak!"
"Idiot!"
Such words came from the very kids who once worshipped Kaito as their king. But now, they saw him as nothing more than a clown. All laughed and taunted him as the six-year-old Kaito accepted it.
Young Kaito: "Why...Why are you all doing this? I-I'm not a freak! O-Or a loser! I'm your King! I am! You should be worshipping me!"
"Sorry, Kaito. But you've been replaced."
Young Kaito: "Huh?"
The familiar voice was all that was needed for Kaito's eyes to perk up. When they did, they saw the group before him begin to park, allowing the person who spoke to come on through. Such was all it took to reveal the person speaking, was none other than (Y/n). The six-year-old boy grinning from ear to ear as he faced the crying Kaito.
Young (Y/n): "This feel like a nightmare to you yet, Kaito? I mean, it should...This is exactly what you're afraid of the most."
Young Kaito: "W-What are you talking about?"
Young (Y/n): "Being replaced. Being overlooked by someone you deem beneath you. That's what you're afraid of. That's why you looked down on me during our junior high days. You were afraid that I'd become more popular than you. When..." [Chuckles] "...When all I really wanted as a kid was to be your friend. But, I guess you just couldn't handle that."
Out of nowhere (Y/n) roughly picks up six-year-old Kaito by the crop of his miniature U.A. training uniform, and brought him so close to his face that the green in his eyes lit up Kaito's face slightly.
(Y/n): "And now you're left to suffer through the pain I felt for all my life. You're going to know how screwed up my life really is. You'll realize that in everything, no matter what it is...It isn't about me not being a rival to you. It's about how you're nothing to me."
Not a moment of hesitation came as (Y/n) threw the screaming Kaito through the air into a black void. His child-like screams continued to echo for what felt like forever. That was until his eyes were forced open by a familiar voice. This one coming from none other than Akiko herself.
Akiko: "Kaito, what's the matter? Why are you screaming?"
Kaito: "H-Huh?"
The smiling face of Akiko was all Kaito could see, and it was enough to make him blush. He was now once more a teenager, like he was before. He currently found himself seated in the classroom of 1-B at U.A. Though what was surprising about it was the fact that Akiko, who was also in uniform, was seated next to him.
Kaito: "A-Akiko? What are you doing here?"
Akiko: "Me?" [Giggles] "I go to school here. So I'm in class like I should?"
Kaito: "Oh..."
Akiko: [Giggles] "Is everything okay? Are you sick?"
To test for herself, Akiko proceeded to reach out her hand and placed it atop Kaito's head for any sign of a fever. The touch alone was enough to make Kaito blush once more. He couldn't help but look at Akiko with a smile, seemingly forgetting about (Y/n) altogether. That was until...
"Hey, babe. You ready to go?"
Immediately, Kaito's eyes were drawn to the doorway of the room, where (Y/n) stood with a smile and full of life. He, too, was in his U.A. uniform. It appeared that this was the life that could have taken place if Kaito grew up with the life of (Y/n). And as much as he didn't believe it before, this was really starting to feel like a nightmare. Especially when Akiko suddenly jumped out of her seat with a smile.
Akiko: "(Y/n)!"
Upon realizing how loud she had just shouted the name of her boyfriend, Akiko couldn't help but drop her gaze and blush.
Akiko: [Blushes] "I-I mean, yeah...I'm ready to go."
(Y/n): "Sweet! Boy, you sure look good when you blush." [Walks over and leans in] "I'd love to see what else I can do to make you turn red~"
Akiko: [Blushes and smiles] "(Y-Y/n)! You can't say that!"
(Y/n): "What? Why not?"
Akiko: "Because...Kaito can hear you."
The mention of his name was enough to bring Kaito back to reality upon finally processing what he had just seen. Though, when he did, he saw Akiko blushing immensely whilst (Y/n) grinned at him.
(Y/n): "What? This freak? Please! I'm sure this is the closest thing he'll hear that comes anywhere near a girl." [Turns to him] "Ain't that right, loser?"
Kaito: "I-I'm not a--"
Akiko: "(Y/n). Don't be mean. He's not a loser..."
With a pause separating her words, Akiko and (Y/n) stared at each other once more all before bursting out in a wave of laughter. Clearly, the both found the words of Akiko to be hilarious. And this exact feeling continued to fill the air as (Y/n) flung his arm over the shoulder of his girlfriend and went to leave the room. As they did, however, (Y/n) made sure to look over his shoulder and offer a grin to Kaito once more. The sight along was enough to make the male to clench his fists and pounce from his seat. However, instead of finding himself standing in the classroom, Kaito instead found himself standing back in the arena, where thousands of people watched all over the place. However, there was something about the scene that made Kaito think it wasn't reality.
"(Y/n)!"
"(Y/n)!"
"(Y/n)!"
"(Y/n)!"
"(Y/n)"
The sound of the crowd cheering for (Y/n)'s name wasn't alone. Even the teachers, commentators, and students all cheered his name as well. It left Kaito with a wave of dread inside. One that caused him the lack of speaking words. But he was given a break from the chants when the voice of (Y/n) sounded once more.
(Y/n): "You know, I see what you mean now when you get excited by the cheers. They're great!"
Without hesitation, Kaito suddenly turned back to (Y/n) and launched a fireball the side of his head. However, such an attack was stopped with the simple contact that was made when (Y/n)'s hand pressed against it. When the fire faded, Kaito was left shocked, whilst (Y/n) just grinned.
(Y/n): "Yeah, that's not going to work here. You see, nightmares are kinda my domain."
Kaito: "I DON'T GIVE A FUCK! Just end the shit already!"
(Y/n): "I don't think so...I haven't had enough fun yet." [Grins] "It's pretty addictive to bully someone weaker than you. I guess I understand why you liked that so much as well."
Kaito: "I'll fuckin' kill you, Deku."
(Y/n): "Already told you once, Kaito. I've moved on from that, and you. But if it's a fight you want, I can give you one...But trust me when I say it's going to end it once and for all."
Kaito: "I don't give a fuck what you say!"
(Y/n): "Alright. But before we get to the action, I've got one last thing to tell you. Well, it's more of a warning, really."
Kaito: "Please! What warning could you possibly give me?!"
(Y/n): [Grins] "Fear me..." [Pulls mask on] "...For I Am Here."
Those were the final words before an explosion of battle cries flooded from the mouths of Kaito and (Y/n). In union the pair launched from their starting positions with the sole intent of hurting the other. Kaito's fists caught on fire whilst (Y/n)'s green chaotic energy zapped around his body like electricity. It wasn't long before they reached each other. Kaito was first to move, going to swing his arm through the air. However, (Y/n) was quicker.
His clawed hand shifting passed Kaito's to grab the boy by the jaw before slamming his entire body into the ground. The attack alone sent shockwaves through the arena, and a crater beneath Kaito's body. A look of shock appeared on Kaito's face, only to turn to complete fear as the metal part of (Y/n)'s mask was ripped open to showcase sharp metal teeth. Within the mouth of this monstrous beast, a dark abyss of nothing. It was like (Y/n)'s suit had become alive itself. A living monster. One which roared vilely in the face of the restrained Kaito.
"AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!"
With the sharp teeth still on full display, (Y/n) grabbed the shoulder of Kaito and flung him off the ground. His body went flying through the air, to the point it went way passed the white line of the battlefield. But just when it appeared like he was about to strike the ground, (Y/n)'s hands launched forward, from it, black tendrils with dark green outlines shot from the top of his wrist and wrapped themselves around Kaito's legs. Which were used to fling him back toward (Y/n)'s position.
What was odd, however, was the fact that such an attack seemed to surprise even (Y/n), after all, he never knew he could do something like that, even in a living nightmare. Because that's what all of this was...A living nightmare. It was the monstrous form (Not the one previously mentioned) that 'Fear Three' gave the young boy that was able to make the nightmares of whoever he touched become a reality inside of his head. Like his Quirk normally did, however, the added plus was that 'Fear Three' allowed (Y/n) to be a part of those nightmares, where he was able to mould them into any direction he wanted.
But this ability he just used with the black whips was something he had never seen before. However, he couldn't think about it much further before (Y/n)'s body came flying back at him. Quickly (Y/n) returned to what actually mattered right now and launched into the air to greet Kaito. His hand once more grabbing the boy by the jaw before slamming him back into the ground like before. However, this time around, (Y/n) didn't stop at one. He did this over and over again. His glowing green eyes watched the scene with rage and agony.
Just as he crushed Kaito, (Y/n) also crushed the memories and fears brought on by the childhood bully. It was symbolic in quite the way, so (Y/n) continued to crush every single one of his fears with Kaito's body. This went on for what felt like an eternity until finally (Y/n) relented. By this point, Kaito was completely out of it. He couldn't move. Heck, he seemed as dead as any alive person could. All such brought a sight (Y/n) had wanted to see for a long time now. But he wanted to see this with his very own eyes, so, he pulled his mask back once more to look down at the piece of shame that was Itijam Kaito.
(Y/n): "...This is where it all ends, Kaito. This moment, right here. From this point on...You're not in my life. Any fear you held over me in the past, it dies right now. So, do whatever you want whenever we meet next. But just know...You ever try to pick a fight with me...Or you dare say something about Uraraka or any of my friends again..." [Crouches down] "I'll trap you in a world of nightmares just like the ones you experienced today for the rest of your life. Got it? Good..."
It was with those final words that (Y/n) turned around and walked off into the light. But just as he was about to return to the world of the living, he suddenly stopped as he remember something. When he did, he proceeded to look over his shoulder and stared at the unconscious body of Kaito once more.
(Y/n): "I didn't do any of this for you...Because you deserve it or something. I did this for me. So just imagine what would happen if I did this for someone I cared about."
Final words were left with no response, not that one was needed. Instead, (Y/n) simply turned around and walked through the light, ready to bring all of this to an end. For once...and for all.
--Back in Reality--
As for in reality, the crowd of citizens, teachers, and students, were all speechless, their eyes wide in shock at the form they just witnessed (Y/n) take. It was something they could only imagine to take place in a nightmare. Yet, this mysterious form faded as it appeared, with a bright green light. Now, (Y/n) was back to normal. His mask hanging from the back of his neck as he walked passed a speechless Midnight and Cementoss, all the while dragging the unconscious body of Kaito behind him.
The next thing anyone knew, the sound of Kaito's unconscious body colliding with the ground on the opposite side of the white line could be heard, enough to bring everyone back to reality to witness what just happened. But (Y/n) seemed very little interested in the people, instead, choosing to simple look over his shoulder with a blank expression toward Midnight.
Midnight: "W-What...Just happened?"
(Y/n): "...I won."
A smile found his lips after his words, something which also shocked Midnight. But due to her face already being frozen in shock, she was left to simple blush in silence. That was the last thing (Y/n) saw before he turned around and walked over the white line himself. His boot stepping over Kaito's unconscious body before heading toward the tunnel. About ten seconds of silence followed, where all that could be heard was the sound of (Y/n)'s boots colliding with the ground. That was, until out of nowhere a thunderous wave of applause until any other rocketed around the entire arena.
"YYYYYYYAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!"
The sound was so loud that it even rocked the ground outside the arena, where various people, including the heroes on guard, such as Kamui Woods, Death Arms, and Mt. Lady were also speechless. Though Mt. Lady seemed to have a twinkle in her eye as a grin sprung across her lips, followed by the action of her biting the edge of her finger. As for within the arena, the sound of (Y/n)'s name being cheered by the thousands flooded the air as he headed toward the tunnel.
"(Y/N)!"
"(Y/N)!"
"(Y/N)!"
"(Y/N)!"
Even the people who previously went for Kaito were screaming his name.
"(Y/N)!"
"(Y/N)!"
But (Y/n) didn't care for the cheers of anyone of them. The only cheers he cared about were from his friends from Class 1-A. In union they all cheered his name, leading the boy to offer a smile as he looked up at them. The sound of his name continued to be heard as he finally entered the dark tunnel. The only person not cheering his name, was Akiko. Who watched in complete silence and awe at what just happened. But there was one other person who wasn't cheering his name, and that was Itijam Kato, Kaito's father.
The man stood to the side within the tunnel (Y/n) currently found himself. Even once he noticed the glaring adult, (Y/n) didn't drop his smile. Instead, he couldn't to walk forward. Originally, he planned to just walk pass the man without saying a word, letting his smile do that. But he decided to have some fun with the man who made his mother cry. So, just when he reached Kato's position, (Y/n) stop, looked up at the grown man, and smiled further before speaking.
(Y/n): "I dealt your son quite the beating out there, so you might wanna run out there to check on him if you care about him." [Goes to leave but stops] "Oh, and one more thing. When he does come through...He might want to fight me all over again." [Grins] "He's dumb like that. But I'll be more than willing to leave him in the exact same spot on the ground all over again. Though, there is one thing I'll need from him..."
Kato: "...And that is?"
(Y/n): "I'll need him to beg..." [Grins] "...Like a dog."
With those words (Y/n) turned around and continued walking down the rest of the tunnel. Kato said not a single word as he simply watched with rage and anger to (Y/n). But (Y/n) didn't care. After all, he was done with Kaito, and the whole Itijam family. He was finally able to turn over a new leaf. To start a new life that wasn't held back by fear. He was ready to start all over again...One More Time.
